1Comparative genomic and transcriptomic analyses uncover the molecular basis of high nitrogen-use efficiency in the wheat cultivar Kenong 9204显示文摘Studying the regulatory mechanisms that drive nitrogen-use efficiency(NUE)in crops is important for sustainable agriculture and environmental protection.In this study,we generated a high-quality genome assembly for the high-NUE wheat cultivar Kenong 9204 and systematically analyzed genes related to nitrogen uptake and metabolism.By comparative analyses,we found that the high-affinity nitrate transporter gene family had expanded in Triticeae.Further studies showed that subsequent functional differentiation endowed the expanded family members with saline inducibility,providing a genetic basis for improving the adaptability of wheat to nitrogen deficiency in various habitats.To explore the genetic and molecular mechanisms of high NUE,we compared genomic and transcriptomic data from the high-NUE cultivar Kenong 9204(KN9204)and the low-NUE cultivar Jing 411 and quantified their nitrogen accumulation under high-and low-nitrogen conditions.Compared with Jing 411,KN9204 absorbed significantly more nitrogen at the reproductive stage after shooting and accumulated it in the shoots and seeds.Transcriptome data analysis revealed that nitrogen deficiency clearly suppressed the expression of genes related to cell division in the young spike of Jing 411,whereas this suppression of gene expression was much lower in KN9204.In addition,KN9204 maintained relatively high expression of NPF genes for a longer time than Jing 411 during seed maturity.Physiological and transcriptome data revealed that KN9204 was more tolerant of nitrogen deficiency than Jing 411,especially at the reproductive stage.The high NUE of KN9204 is an integrated effect controlled at different levels.Taken together,our data provide new insights into the molecular mechanisms of NUE and important gene resources for improving wheat cultivars with a higher NUE trait.Xiaoli Shi Fa Cui Xinyin Han Yilin He Long Zhao Na Zhang Hao Zhang Haidong Zhu Zhexin Liu Bin Ma Shusong Zheng Wei Zhang Jiajia Liu Xiaoli Fan Yaoqi Si Shuiquan Tian Jianqing Niu Huilan Wu Xuemei Liu Zhuo Chen Deyuan Meng Xiaoyan Wang Liqiang Song Lijing Sun Jie Han Hui Zhao Jun Ji Zhiguo Wang Xiaoyu He Ruilin Li Xuebin Chi Chengzhi Liang Beifang Niu Jun Xiao Junming Li Hong-Qing Ling 2022Molecular Plant2022,15,9:6
2Effects of capture and captivity on plasma corticosterone and metabolite levels in breeding Eurasian Tree Sparrows显示文摘Background: Bringing free-living animals into captivity subjects them to the stress of both capture and captivity, leading to the alteration of normal physiological processes and behaviors through activation of the hypothalamic– pituitary–adrenal axis. In free-living birds, although elevated plasma corticosterone (CORT) is an important adaptation regulating physiological and behavioral responses during the process of capture and captivity stress, little information is currently available on the effects of such stress on plasma metabolite levels. Methods: We examined the effects of immediate capture and 24-h captivity on body mass, body condition, plasma CORT, and metabolite levels including glucose (Glu), triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), uric acid (UA), in breeding Eurasian Tree Sparrows (Passer montanus). Results: CORT and Glu levels were increased significantly by the stress of capture, whereas TC and UA levels decreased. Body mass, body condition declined notably after 24 h in captivity, but CORT, Glu, and UA levels increased. Furthermore, male sparrows had lower TG levels after both capture and captivity than those of females. The relationships between plasma CORT and metabolite levels varied between sexes. Conclusions: Our results revealed that the metabolic status of Eurasian Tree Sparrows could be dramatically altered by capture and captivity. 4Magnetic and microwave absorption properties of Ni_(1-x)Zn_xFe_2O_4 nanocrystalline synthesized by sol-gel method显示文摘Ni1-xZnxFe2O4(0≤x≤1,in steps of 0.1) nanocrystallines were synthesized by sol-gel route.The doping effects of zinc on structural,magnetic and microwave absorption properties were investigated in detail.X-ray diffraction(XRD) results show that all the samples are single-phase spinel structure.The magnetic and microwave absorption properties are strongly dependent on the zinc content,which can be understood in terms of the cations redistribution in spinel tetrahedral and octahedral sites with the increase of zinc content.The magnetic measurement shows the antiferromagnetic nature of the samples for x=0.9 and x=1.0.The saturation magnetization reaches the maximum of 3.35μB/f.u.at x=0.5.The optimal reflection loss(RL) of-29.6 dB is found at 6.5 GHz for an absorber thickness of 5 mm.The RL values exceeding 10 dB are obtained for the absorber in the range of 3.9-8.9 GHz.These Ni1-xZnxFe2O4 nanocrystallines may be attractive candidates for electromagnetic wave absorption materials.ZHANG Min LIU QiangChun ZI ZhenFa DAI YuQiang ZHU XueBin SUN YuPing DAI JianMing 2013Science China(Technological Sciences)2013,56,1:4
5The temporal dynamics of antimicrobial-resistant Salmonella enterica and predominant serovars in China显示文摘Salmonella enterica is one of the most common bacterial pathogens in humans and animals.Systematic studies on the trends and geographical distribution of antimicrobial-resistant Salmonella and dominant serovars have been well studied in European and American countries while not in China.Here,taking the One-Health strategy,we used>35000 Salmonella enterica isolates to explore the temporal and spatial dynamics of dominant serovars in China.We found that Salmonella Typhimurium was the dominant serovar causing human infection in China,which was consistent with Australia but inconsistent with North American and European countries.The proportion of Salmonella serovars Typhimurium,London,Rissen,Corvallis,Meleagridis,Kentucky,and Goldcoast showed an increasing trend during 2006-2019.We randomly selected 1962 isolates for comparative genomics and antimicrobial resistance studies and found that the number of antibiotic resistance genes(ARGs)per isolate increased 1.84 and 2.69 times of human and non-human origins,respectively,spanning 14 years.The proportion of antimicrobial-resistant Salmonella isolates had an increasing trend during 2006-2019,especially beta-lactam,quinolone,tetracycline,and rifampicin resistance.Moreover,we found that higher diversity of sequence types(STs)in S.Typhimurium than in other serovars,ST34 from pig and ST 19 from chicken origin,were mainly associated with isolates causing child and adult gastro-infection,respectively.Our results fill in the data gap on the trends of dominant serovars and antimicrobial resistance of Salmonella enterica in China.These data provide useful information for public health decision-makers prioritizing interventions for foodborne diseases and food safety.Yanan Wang Yue Liu Na Lyu Zhiyuan Li Sufang Ma Demin Cao Yuanlong Pan Yongfei Hu Hua Huang George F.Gao Xuebin Xu Baoli Zhu 2023National Science Review2023,10,3:4
6Risks of temperature extremes over China under 1.5℃ and 2℃ global warming显示文摘The Paris Agreement aims to keep global warming to well below 2℃ above pre-industrial levels and to pursue efforts to limit it to 1.5℃,recognizing this will reduce the risks of natural disasters significantly.As changes in the risks of temperature extremes are often associated with changes in the temperature probability distribution,further analysis is still needed to improve understanding of the warm extremes over China.In this study,changes in the occurrence probability of temperature extremes and statistic characteristics of the temperature distribution are investigated using the fifth phase of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project(CMIP5)multimodel simulations from 1861 to 2100.The risks of the once-in-100-year TXx and TNx events are projected to increase by 14.4 and 31.4 times at 1.5℃ warming.Even,the corresponding risks under 2℃ global warming are 23.3 and 50.6,implying that the once-in-100-year TXx and TNx events are expected to occur about every 5 and 2 years over China,respectively.The Tibetan Plateau,Northwest China and south of the Yangtze River are in greater risks suffering hot extremes(both day and night extremes).Changes in the occurrence probability of warm extremes are generally well explained by the combination of the shifts in location and scale parameters in areas with grown variability,i.e.,the Tibetan Plateau for TXx,south of the Yangtze River for both TXx and TNx.The location(scale)parameter leading the risks of once-in-20-year TXx to increase by more than 5(0.25)and 3(0.75)times under 2℃ warming in the Tibetan Plateau and south of the Yangtze River,respectively.The location parameter is more important for regions with decreased variability e.g.,the Tibetan Plateau for TNx,Northwest China for both TXx and TNx,with risks increase by more than 3,6 and 4 times due to changes in location.SHI Chen JIANG Zhi-Hong ZHU Lian-Hua Xuebin ZHANG YAO Yi-Yi Laurent LI 2020Advances in Climate Change Research2020,11,3:3
7Characteristics and Driving Forces of Spatial Expansion of Oasis Cities and Towns in Hexi Corridor, Gansu Province, China显示文摘This paper presents an integrated study of urban spatial expansion in the Hexi Corridor, Gansu Province, China based on TM, ETM remote sensing data in 1987, 1990, 1995, 2000, 2006 and 2011. The study explores the characteristics of urban spatial expansion and dynamic mechanism by using expansion speed index, expansion intensity index, compact index, fractal dimension, and extended flexibility index. We built the index system of influencing factors of urban spatial expansion by using the grey incidence model. The results showed that urban spatial expansion rate in the Hexi Corridor has been on the upward trend since 1987. Expansion intensity showed an obvious upward trend, however, the upward trend varied in different urban areas. In addition, the urban structure was loose relatively, but the urban compactness was more obvious. The urban spatial form tended to be simple, and the urban land use tended to become more intensive. Urban spatial expansion experienced several stages: padding internally, external expansion and padding internally. 9Surface modification with oxygen vacancy in Li-rich layered oxide Li1.2Mn0.54Ni0.13Co0.13O2 for lithium-ion batteries显示文摘A couple of layered Li-rich cathode materials Li1.2Mn0.54Ni0.13Co0.13O2 without any carbon modification are successfully synthesized by solvothermal and hydrothermal methods followed by a calcination process. The sample synthesized by the solvothermal method(S-NCM) possesses more homogenous microstructure, lower cation mixing degree and more oxygen vacancies on the surface, compared to the sample prepared by the hydrothermal method(H-NCM). The S-NCM sample exhibits much better cycling performance, higher discharge capacity and more excellent rate performance than H-NCM. At 0.2 C rate,the S-NCM sample delivers a much higher initial discharge capacity of 292.3 mAh g^-1 and the capacity maintains 235 m Ah g^-1 after 150 cycles(80.4% retention), whereas the corresponding capacity values are only 269.2 and 108.5 m Ah g^-1(40.3% retention) for the H-NCM sample. The S-NCM sample also shows the higher rate performance with discharge capacity of 118.3 mAh g^-1 even at a high rate of 10 C, superior to that(46.5 m Ah g^-1) of the H-NCM sample. 10Effect of microstructure evolution and crystal structure on thermal properties for plasma-sprayed RE_(2)SiO_(5)(RE=Gd,Y,Er)environmental barrier coatings显示文摘In this work,the microstructure evolution,thermal expansion,thermal conductivity,and thermal shock resistance properties of the plasma-sprayed Xl-Gd_(2)SiO_(5),X2-Y_(2)SiO_(5),and X2-Er_(2)SiO_(5)coatings were evaluated and compared by experimental measurement and theoretical exploration.Results showed that significant microstructure evolution such as crystallization of amorphous phase,grain growth,and defects reduction was observed in the RE_(2)SiO_(5)coatings after thermal aging at 1400℃.The Xl-Gd_(2)SiO_(5)coating exhibited higher CTE values than the X2-Y_(2)SiO_(5)and X2-Er_(2)SiO_(5)coatings,which was related to their crystal structure.The thermal conductivity of thermal-aged RE_(2)SiO_(5)coating was much higher than that of the as-sprayed RE_(2)SiO_(5)coating,and thermal conductivity was determined not only by crystal structure but also mainly by the microstructure of the coatings.The X2-Y_(2)SiO_(5)and X2-Er_(2)SiO_(5)coatings with lower thermal mismatch stre s ses presented much better thermal shock resistance than the X1-Gd_(2)SiO_(5)coating.Xin Zhong Tao Zhu Yaran Niu Haijun Zhou Le Zhang Xiangyu Zhang Qilian Li Xuebin Zheng 2021Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,26:1

18Evidence for the role of KIF17 in fish spermatid reshaping:expression pattern of KIF17 in Larimichthys polyactis spermiogenesis显示文摘The homodimeric kinesin-2 protein KIF17 functions in intracellular transport and spermiogenesis in mammals.However,its role in fish spermiogenesis has not been reported.Here,we aimed to clone full-length kif17 cDNA and determine the molecular characteristics and expression patterns of KIF17 in Larimichthys polyactis spermiogenesis.The full-length cDNA of L.polyactis kif17(Lp-kif17)was sequenced and found to contain a 332-bp 5′untranslated region,480-bp 3′untranslated region,and 2433-bp open reading frame encoding 810 amino acids.Bioinformatics analyses showed that L.polyactis KIF17(Lp-KIF17)shared high sequence similarity with homologs in other animals and possessed an N-terminal motor domain with microtubule-binding sites and adenosine triphosphate(ATP)hydrolysis sites,a stalk domain containing two coiled-coil regions,and a C-terminal tail domain.The Lp-kif17 mRNA was widely expressed in various tissues,with the highest level in the brain,followed by that in the testis.Fluorescence in situ hybridization(FISH)analysis revealed that Lp-kif17 was continuously expressed in spermiogenesis,showing that it had potential functions in this process.Using immunofluorescence(IF)analysis,we found that Lp-KIF17 colocalized with tubulin and was transferred from the perinuclear cytoplasm to the side of spermatid where the tail forms during spermiogenesis.These findings suggested that KIF17 is involved in L.polyactis spermiogenesis.In particular,it may participate in nuclear shaping and tail formation by interacting with perinuclear microtubules during spermatid reshaping.In addition to providing evidence for the role of KIF17 in fish spermatid reshaping,this study provides important data for studies of reproductive biology in L.polyactis.Jingqian WANG Xinming GAO Xuebin ZHENG Chen DU Congcong HOU Qingping XIE Bao LOU Feng LIU Shan JIN Junquan ZHU 2021Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2021,39,6:1
