1Stability analysis of the temperature cracks in Xiaowan arch dam显示文摘In the Xiaowan arch dam there are massive temperature cracks nearly parallel to the dam axis. Obviously, whether the cracks may spread or not during the water storage process is one of the crucial factors for the safety of a dam. In this paper, a new type of crack element, in which the contact component is implicitly included into the concrete component, is proposed to simulate the effects of the existing cracks. The crack element is proved by numerical example to share the merits of both conventional contact elements and joint elements. With a finite element model of the cracked arch dam together with its rock foundation established, the transient displacement and stress fields of the dam are obtained. The complicated rock foundation, the construction process of the arch dam, the massive cracks, the transient temperature field, as well as the water storage process have been taken into consideration in the simulation. In addition to the global model, several sub-models for typical crack tips are also generated with finer elements placed around the tips. Thus, more accurate displacement and stress distribution are obtained by simultaneous sub-model simulation. 7Pay-it-forward gonorrhea and chlamydia testing among men who have sex with men in China:a study protocol for a three-arm cluster randomized controlled trial显示文摘Background:Gonorrhea and chlamydia testing rates are poor among Chinese men who have sex with men(MSM).A quasi-experimental study suggested that a pay-it-forward strategy increased dual gonorrhea/chlamydia testing among MSM.Pay-it-forward offers an individual a gift(e.g.,a free test)and then asks the same person if they would like to give a gift to another person.This article reports the protocol of a randomized controlled trial to evaluate dual gonorrhea/chlamydia test uptake and other outcomes among MSM in three arms-a pay-it-forward arm,a pay-what-you-want arm,and a standard of care arm.Methods:Three hundred MSM will be recruited at three HIV testing sites in Guangzhou and Beijing.Testing sites include two hospital-based MSM sexually transmitted diseases clinics and one MSM community-based organization.Eligible participants will be born biologically male,aged 16 years or older,reporting previous anal sex with another man,having never participated in the pay-it-forward program,without previous gonorrhea and chlamydia testing in the past 12 months,and residing in China.Following a cluster randomized design,every cluster of ten participants will be randomly allocated into one of three arms:(1)a pay-it-forward arm in which men are offered free gonorrhea and chlamydia testing and then asked whether they would like to donate('pay it forward')toward testing for future testers;(2)a pay-what-you-want arm in which men are offered free testing and told to decide how much to pay after receiving the test;(3)a standard of care arm in which men can pay the full price for dual gonorrhoea and chlamydia testing.The primary outcome is dual gonorrhoea/chlamydia testing as verified by administrative records.Secondary outcomes include incremental cost per test,incremental cost per diagnosis,community connectedness,and social cohesion.Primary outcome will be calculated for each arm using intention-to-treat and compared using one-sided 95%confidence intervals with a margin of 20%increase defined as superiority.Discussion:This study will examine the pay-it-forward strategy in comparison to the standard of care in improving test uptake for gonorrhea and chlamydia.We will leverage the cluster randomized controlled trial to provide scientific evidence on the potential effect of pay-it-forward.Findings from this study will shed light on novel intervention methods for increasing preventive health service utilization and innovate ways to finance it among communities.Trial registration:ClinicalTrials.gov,NCT03741725.Registered on 12 November 2018.Tiange P.Zhang Fan Yang Weiming Tang Marcus Alexander Laura Forastiere Navin Kumar Katherine Li Fei Zou Ligang Yang Guodong Mi Yehua Wang Wenting Huang Amy Lee Weizan Zhu Peter Vickerman Dan Wu Bin Yang Nicholas A.Christakis Joseph D.Tucker 2019Infectious Diseases of Poverty2019,8,4:1
8A Protective Mechanism for the Access Control System in the Virtual Domain显示文摘In traditional framework,mandatory access control(MAC) system and malicious software are run in kernel mode. Malicious software can stop MAC systems to be started and make it do invalid. This problem cannot be solved under the traditional framework if the operating system(OS) is comprised since malwares are running in ring 0 level. In this paper,we propose a novel way to use hypervisors to protect kernel integrity and the access control system in commodity operating systems. We separate the access control system into three parts: policy management(PM),security server(SS) and policy enforcement(PE). Policy management and the security server reside in the security domain to protect them against malware and the isolation feather of the hypervisor can protect them from attacks. We add an access vector cache(AVC) between SS and PE in the guest OS,in order to speed up communication between the guest OS and the security domain. The policy enforcement module is retained in the guest OS for performance. The security of AVC and PE can be ensured by using a memory protection mechanism. The goal of protecting the OS kernel is to ensure the security of the execution path. We implementthe system by a modified Xen hypervisor. The result shows that we can secure the security of the access control system in the guest OS with no overhead compared with modules in the latter. 12Research on the discrimination methods of algae based on the fluorescence excitation spectra显示文摘The excitation spectra of chlorophyll (Chl) fluorescence can be used to differentiate phytoplankton populations at phylum level in vivo and in situ within a few minutes.The investigated phytoplankton divisions (Dinophyta,Bacillariophyta,Chrysophyta,Cyanophyta,Cryptophyta,Chlorophyta) are each characterized by a specific composition of photosynthetic antenna pigments and,consequently,by a specific excitation spectrum of the Chl fluorescence.Norm excitation spectra (emission of 680 nm and excitation of 400–600 nm) of every division were obtained from several species per division by a F4500 fluorescence spectrophotometer.Fisher’s linear discriminant analysis of the norm spectra shows that the divisions could be discriminated.The discrimination method,established by multivariate linear regression and weighted least squares,was used to differentiate the phytoplankton samples cultured in the laboratory and samples collected from the Jiaozhao Bay at division level.The correctly discriminated samples were more than 94% for single algal species ones,more than 84% for simulatively mixed ones,more than 83% for real mixed ones and 100% for samples collected from the Jiaozhou Bay for the dominant species.The method for phytoplankton differentiation described here can be applied to routine checking by fluorescence spectrophotometer,and benefit the monitoring and supervision tasks related to phytoplankton populations in the marine environments.HU Xupeng SU Rongguo ZOU Weiming REN Shijun WANG Hongtao CHAI Xiaoping WANG Yiming 2010Acta Oceanologica Sinica2010,29,4:1
13A general method for numerical Green's function in arbitrarily layered soils显示文摘A straightforward approach is developed to calculate Green's function of a point current source in horizontal multi-layer soils. The sampling value of the coefficient of Green's function is obtained in an iterative way in terms of the equation group satisfying the pertinent boundary value problem. Further, the closed-form expression of multilayered soil Green's function can be given by the vector matrix pencil technology. The numerical results are in agreement with those by using other softwares. 15Gene and protein expression of proteinase-activated receptor-1, 2 in a murine model of acute graft vs host disease显示文摘Proteinase-activated receptors(PARs)are a novel subclass of seven transmembrane-spanning,G protein-coupled receptors.PAR-1 and PAR-2 are widely expressed in a variety of cells and are found to be involved in many physiological and pathological processes includ-ing inflammation and immune response.However,little is known about the function of PAR-1,2 in acute graft vs host disease(GVHD).In the present study,wefirst detected the expression of PAR-1,2 protein and mRNA in a murine model of acute GVHD using the methods of immunohis-tochemistry,Western blot and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction(PCR).Syngeneic hematopoie-tic stem cell transplantation(HSCT)mice served as controls.The relative gene expression level of PAR-1 was significantly increased in the skin,liver,small intestine of allogeneic HSCT mice(in skin:0.039�0.013 vs 0.008�0.002 of controls,P=0.009;in liver:0.165�0.006 vs 0.017�0.006 of controls,P=0.004;in small intestine:0.215�0.009 vs 0.016�0.002 of con-trols,P=0.003),but not in the stomach,lung and kidney of allogeneic HSCT mice(P>0.05).PAR-2 mRNA expression in the liver and small intestine of allogeneic HSCT mice(in liver:0.010�0.002 vs 0.003�0.001 of controls,P=0.008;in small intestine:0.006�0.001 vs 0.003�0.001 of controls,P=0.024)was increased significantly,but PAR-2 mRNA expression in the other organs(P>0.05)was not found to be significantly elevated.PAR-1,2 protein expression was in accordance with the mRNA expression,as shown by Western blot.Using immunohistochemistry the present study demon-strated that there was strong PAR-1,2 immunoreactivity in the epithelial cell and vascular endothelial cell of target organs of acute GVHD.Ourfindings of markedly increased expression of PAR-1,2 in target organs of acute GVHD suggest that PAR-1 and PAR-2 may play an important role in the pathogenesis of acute GVHD.Quan LI Jian ZHANG Weiming LI Ping ZOU 2009Frontiers of Medicine2009,3,3:0
16Direct growth of globally aligned graphene nanoribbons on reconstructed sapphire substrate using PECVD显示文摘Graphene nanoribbons(GNRs)are regarded as an ideal candidate for beyond-silicon electronics.However,synthesis of aligned GNR arrays on insulating substrates with high efficiency is challenging.In this work,we develop a facile strategy,involving KOH pre-treatment and high-temperature annealing,to construct parallel steps on the two-fold symmetry a-plane sapphire substrate.Horizontal GNRs as narrow as 15.1 nm with global alignment across a region of 20 mm^(2)are then grown on the step edgeenriched substrate through plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition(PECVD)method.GNRs align well along the atomic steps on sapphire([■]direction)with their widths and densities swiftly adjustable by step morphology modification on substrate surface.A step-edge confined growth mechanism is proposed,attributing the constraint on the nanoribbon broadening to a relatively low growth temperature in PECVD,which restrains the activation energy to suppress GNRs across step edges on sapphire and prevents detrimental nanoribbon widening.The results provide a new perspective for scalable synthesizing well aligned nanoribbons of other two-dimensional materials.Mingzhi Zou Weiming Liu Yue Yu Shanshan Wang Bo Xu Liu Qian Tianze Tong Jin Zhang 2023Nano Research2023,16,1:0
