| 3 | Factors affecting occurrence of gastric varioliform lesions: A case-control study显示文摘AIM: To investigate the factors influencing the occurrence of gastric varioliform lesions(GVLs) and their possible link with gastric cancer.METHODS: A 1:1 matched case-control study was performed to retrospectively analyze data from 1638 chronic gastritis patients who had undergone gastroscopy at one of two Chinese hospitals between 2009 and 2014. Patients with GVLs(cases) were compared to those without such lesions(controls). Endoscopic and pathological findings were recorded, along with interview information on Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori) infection, medical, drug and family histories, lifestyle and eating habits. The association between each factor and the occurrence of GVLs was estimated, and then multivariate conditional logistic regression was used to evaluate the independent factors.RESULTS: The frequency and severity of glandular atrophy, intestinal metaplasia(IM) and low-grade intraepithelial neoplasia were significantly increased in the GVL group(P < 0.01). Overall analysis showed that H. pylori infection [3.051(2.157, 4.317), P <0.001], allergic respiratory diseases [3.636(2.183, 6.055), P < 0.001], work-related stress [2.019(1.568, 2.600), P < 0.001], irregular meals [2.300(1.462, 3.619), P < 0.001], high intake of spicy food [1.754(1.227, 2.507), P = 0.002] and high intake of fresh fruit [0.231(0.101, 0.529), P = 0.001] were significantly correlated with the occurrence of GVLs(positively, except for the latter). Stratified analyses indicated that pickled food consumption in patients over 50 years old [7.224(2.360, 22.115), P = 0.001] and excessive smoking in men [2.013(1.282, 3.163), P = 0.002] were also positively correlated, and that, for antral GVLs, vegetable consumption [0.491(0.311, 0.776), P = 0.002] was negatively correlated. | 5 | Transcriptomic analyses identify albino-associated genes of a novel albino tea germplasm ‘Huabai 1’显示文摘Albinism in shoots of tea plants is a common phenotypic expression which gives the tea infusion a pleasant umami taste.A novel natural albino mutant tea germplasm containing high amino acids content was found and named as‘Huabai 1’.‘Huabai 1’has white jade tender shoots under low temperature and turns green with increased temperature.In order to understand the molecular mechanism of color change in leaf of‘Huabai 1’,transcriptome analysis was performed to identify albino-associated differentially expressed genes(DEGs).A total of 483 DEGs were identified from white shoots of‘Huabai 1’compared to its green shoots.There were 15 DEGs identified to be involved in phenylpropanoid biosynthesis,which account for the majority of characterized DEGs.The metabolites related to phenylpropanoid biosynthesis revealed similar expression pattern of DEGs.Furthermore,metabolic pathways such as ubiquonone,tyrosine,and flavonoid biosynthesis associated with phenylpropanoid biosynthesis could also contribute to the color change in‘Huabai 1’tender shoots.Protein–protein interaction analysis revealed a hub protein NEDD8(CSA009575)which interacted with many regulated genes in spliceosome,nitrogen metabolism,phenylpropanoid biosynthesis,and other pathways.In conclusion,the findings in this study indicate that the color change of‘Huabai 1’tender shoots is a combined effect of phenylpropanoid biosynthesis pathway and other metabolic pathways including flavonoid biosynthesis in tea plants.Chlorophyll biosynthesis-related genes LHCII and SGR may also play some roles in color change of‘Huabai 1’. | Qingping Ma Huan Li Zhongwei Zou Emmanuel Arkorful Qianru Lv Qiongqiong Zhou Xuan Chen Kang Sun Xinghui Li | 2018 | Horticulture Research2018,5,1: | 7 |
| 6 | A three-microRNA panel in serum as novel biomarker for papillary thyroid carcinoma diagnosis显示文摘Background:Accumulating evidence has revealed that circulating microRNAs(miRNAs)can serve as non-invasive biomarkers for cancer diagnosis.This study aimed to identify differentially expressed miRNAs in serum which might become potential biomarkers for non-invasive diagnosis of papillary thyroid carcinoma(PTC).Methods:The experiment was carried out between 2015 and 2017.In the screening stage,the Exiqon miRNA quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction(qPCR)panel was applied to select candidate miRNAs.In the following training,testing,and external validation stages,the serum samples of 100 patients and 96 healthy controls(HCs)were analyzed to compare the expression levels of the identified miRNAs.The areas under the receiver operating characteristic curves(AUCs)were calculated to assess the diagnostic value of the identified signature.Results:Three miRNAs(miR-25-3p,miR-296-5p,and miR-92a-3p)in serum were consistently up-regulated in PTC patients compared with HCs.A three-miRNA panel was constructed by logistic regression analysis and showed better diagnostic performance than a single miRNA for PTC detection.The AUCs of the panel were 0.727,0.771,and 0.862 for the training,testing,and external validation stage,respectively.Meanwhile,the panel showed stable capability in differentiating PTC patients from patients with benign goiters,with an AUC as high as 0.969.For further exploration,the three identified miRNAs were analyzed in tissue samples(23 PTC vs.23 HCs)and serum-derived exosomes samples(24 PTC vs.24 HCs),and the altered expression in the tumor also indicated their close relationship with PTC disease.Conclusion:We identify a three-miRNA panel in serum which might serve as a promising biomarker for PTC diagnosis. | Xuan Zou Feng Gao Zhi-Yan Wang Huo Zhang Qing-Xie Liu Lin Jiang Xin Zhou Wei Zhu | 2020 | Chinese Medical Journal2020,,21: | 6 |

| 8 | Whole-genome resequencing of Osmanthus fragrans provides insights into flower color evolution显示文摘Osmanthus fragrans is a well-known ornamental plant that has been domesticated in China for 2500 years.More than 160 cultivars have been found during this long period of domestication,and they have subsequently been divided into four cultivar groups,including the Yingui,Jingui,Dangui,and Sijigui groups.These groups provide a set of materials to study genetic evolution and variability.Here,we constructed a reference genome of O.fragrans‘Liuyejingui’in the Jingui group and investigated its floral color traits and domestication history by resequencing a total of 122 samples,including 119 O.fragrans accessions and three other Osmanthus species,at an average sequencing depth of 15×.The population structure analysis showed that these 119 accessions formed an apparent regional cluster.The results of linkage disequilibrium(LD)decay analysis suggested that varieties with orange/red flower color in the Dangui group had undergone more artificial directional selection;these varieties had the highest LD values among the four groups,followed by the Sijigui,Jingui,and Yingui groups.Through a genome-wide association study,we further identified significant quantitative trait loci and genomic regions containing several genes,such as ethylene-responsive transcription factor 2 and Arabidopsis pseudoresponse regulator 2,that are positively associated with petal color.Moreover,we found a frameshift mutation with a 34-bp deletion in the first coding region of the carotenoid cleavage dioxygenase 4 gene.This frameshift mutation existed in at least one site on both alleles in all varieties of the Dangui group.The results from this study shed light on the genetic basis of domestication in woody plants,such as O.fragrans. | Hongguo Chen Xiangling Zeng Jie Yang Xuan Cai Yumin Shi Riru Zheng Zhenqi Wang Junyi Liu Xinxin Yi Siwei Xiao Qiang Fu Jingjing Zou Caiyun Wang | 2021 | Horticulture Research2021,8,1: | 5 |
| 9 | Prevalence and Determinants of High-risk HPV Infection among 11549 Women from an Opportunistic Screening in Hubei Province显示文摘High-risk human papillomavirus (hrHPV) infection plays an important role in the development of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and cervical cancer.A total of 11 549 women were enrolled from the Maternal and Child Health Hospital of Hubei Province.Each participant accepted hrHPV testing and completed a self^administered questionnaire about basic information and potential risk factors.The univariable and multivariable logistic regression model was used to explore the associations between variants and hrHPV infection.Our results showed that hrHPV prevalence was 16.09% in Hubei Province,among which,hrHPV was more likely to be positive in women aged 51 years or above (OR=1.65,95% CI:1.28-2.14),and in women who had symptoms of bleeding after intercourse (OR=1.32,95% CI:1.17-1.50),had first sexual intercourse at the age of 18 years or below (OR=1.33,95% CI:1.07-1.64),had at least three male sexual partners (OR=2.50,95% CI:2.07-3.03),and who had been diagnosed with sexually transmitted infections (OR=1.50,95% CI:1.12-2.03).Married women (OR=0.66,95% CI:0.55-0.78) and women who frequently used condoms (OR=0.75,95% CI:0.67-0.84) had a relatively lower hrHPV prevalence.This study confirms that hrHPV infection was associated with age,marital status,symptoms of intercourse bleeding,history of sexually transmitted infections,and sex-related behaviors.Above all,this study provides a baseline database prior to obtaining vaccinations for dynamic tracking of the changes in hrHPV prevalence. | Quan-fu MA Yu-lin GUO Han GAO Bin YAN Xuan DAI Meng XU Yu-jing XIONG Qiu-zi PENG Ying WANG Miao ZOU Xu-feng WU | 2019 | Current Medical Science2019,39,4: | 5 |

| 11 | Kinetics and mechanisms of mitotic inheritance of DNA methylation and their roles in aging-associated methylome deterioration显示文摘Mitotic inheritance of the DNA methylome is a challenging task for the maintenance of cell identity.Whether DNA methylation pattern in different genomic contexts can all be faithfully maintained is an open question.A replication-coupled DNA methylation maintenance model was proposed decades ago,but some observations suggest that a replication-uncoupled maintenance mechanism exists.However,the capacity and the underlying molecular events of replication-uncoupled maintenance are unclear.By measuring maintenance kinetics at the single-molecule level and assessing mutant cells with perturbation of various mechanisms,we found that the kinetics of replication-coupled maintenance are governed by the UHRF1–Ligase 1 and PCNA–DNMT1 interactions,whereas nucleosome occupancy and the interaction between UHRF1 and methylated H3K9 specifically regulate replication-uncoupled maintenance.Surprisingly,replication-uncoupled maintenance is sufficiently robust to largely restore the methylome when replication-coupled maintenance is severely impaired.However,solo-WCGW sites and other CpG sites displaying aging-and cancer-associated hypomethylation exhibit low maintenance efficiency,suggesting that although quite robust,mitotic inheritance of methylation is imperfect and that this imperfection may contribute to selective hypomethylation during aging and tumorigenesis. | Xuan Ming Zhuqiang Zhang Zhuoning Zou Cong Lv Qiang Dong Qixiang He Yangyang Yi Yingfeng Li Hailin Wang Bing Zhu | 2020 | Cell Research2020,30,11: | 4 |

Results of the distribution of the GCR determined from ground-based gravimetry show that the GCR appears to be 'negativepositive-negative' from west to east, which indicates that different geophysical mechanisms are involved in the tectonic activities of these regions.
