1Boron neutron capture therapy for malignant melanoma: first clinical case report in China显示文摘A phase Ⅰ/Ⅱ clinical trial for treating malignant melanoma by boron neutron capture therapy(BNCT) was designed to evaluate whether the world's first in-hospital neutron irradiator(IHNI) was qualified for BNCT. In this clinical trial planning to enroll 30 patients, the first case was treated on August 19, 2014. We present the protocol of this clinical trial, the treating procedure, and the clinical outcome of this first case. Only grade 2 acute radiation injury was observed during the first four weeks after BNCT and the injury healed after treatment. No late radiation injury was found during the 24-month follow-up. 2Denitrification and microbial community in MBBR using A. donax as carbon source and biofilm carriers for reverse osmosis concentrate treatment显示文摘In this study,raw Arundo donax(A.donax)pieces were applied as carbon source and biofilm carriers for denitrification in a lab-scale moving bed biofilm reactor(MBBR)for the treatment of reverse osmosis concentrate gathered from local wastewater reuse plant.At stable phase(about 60 days),efficient denitrification performance was obtained with73.2%±19.5%NO3--N average removal and 8.10±3.45 g N/(m3·day)NO3--N average volumetric removal rate.Mass balance analysis showed that 4.84 g A.donax was required to remove 1 g TN.Quantitative real-time PCR analysis results showed that the copy numbers of 16S r-RNA,narG,nirS,nosZ and anammox gene of carrier biofilm and suspended activated sludge in the declination phase(BF2 and AS2)were lower than those of samples in the stable phase(BF1 and AS1),and relatively higher copy numbers of nirS and nirK genes with lower abundance of narG and nosZ genes were observed.High-throughput sequencing analysis was conducted for BF2 and AS2,and similar dominant phyla and classes with different abundance were obtained.The class Gammaproteobacteria affiliated with the phylum Proteobacteria was the most dominant microbial community in both BF2(52.6%)and AS2(41.7%).The PICRUSt prediction results indicated that 33 predictive specific genes were related to denitrification process,and the relative abundance of 18 predictive specific genes in BF2 were higher than those in AS2.Li Li Guokai Yan Haiyan Wang Zhaosheng Chu Zewen Li Yu Ling Tong Wu 2019Journal of Environmental Sciences2019,31,10:11
3Intercomparison of GPS radiosonde soundings during the eastern tropical Indian Ocean experiment显示文摘Temperature and relative humidity profiles derived from two China-made global positioning system(GPS)radiosondes(GPS-TK and CF-06-A)during the east tropical Indian Ocean(ETIO)experiment were compared with Vaisala RS92-SGP to assess the performances of China-made radiosondes over the tropical ocean.The results show that there have relative large biases in temperature observations between the GPSTK and the RS92-SGP in the low troposphere,with a warm bias of greater than 2 K in the day and a cooling bias of 0.6 K at night.The temperature differences of the CF-06-A were small in the troposphere both in daytime and nighttime,and became large peak-to-peak fluctuations in the stratosphere.The intercomparison of the relative humidity showed that the CF-06-A had large random errors due to the limitation of sensors and the lack of correction scheme,and the GPS-TK had large systematic biases in the low troposphere which might be related to the temperature impact.GPS height measurements are clearly suitable for China-made radiosonde systems operation.At night,the CF-06-A and the GPS-TK could provide virtual potential temperature and atmospheric boundary layer height measurements of suitable quality for both weather and climate research.As a result of the intercomparison experiment,major errors in the Chinamade radiosonde systems were well indentified and subsequently rectified to ensure improving accuracy for historical and future radiosondes.XIE Qiang HUANG Ke WANG Dongxiao YANG Lei CHEN Ju WU Zewen LI Daning LIANG Zhiyan 2014Acta Oceanologica Sinica2014,33,1:4
4Structural design and parameter determination for fluted-roller fertilizer applicator显示文摘The instability of the motion layer of fertilizer particle influences the precision and the accuracy of the amount of fertilizer application in the working process of fluted-roller fertilizer applicator.The characteristics of the motion layer were investigated,and a systematic scheme was proposed for designing the structures of fertilizer-filling cavity,fertilizer-filling surface and fertilizer-delivery cavity.The key parameters of the structure were studied by discrete element method.It was figured out that to ensure the smooth operation of fertilizer applicator,the fertilizer-filling angle was 105°,fertilizer-contact angle should be large than 100°,and the fertilizer-resistance angle should be smaller than 35°.Moreover,the stability of fertilizer motion morphology was investigated to verify the design.The results showed that when the roll rotational speed was larger than 120 deg/s,compared with the conventional design the CV of the amount of fertilizer application was reduced from 1.5%-3.5%to 0.5%-1.0%,and the accuracy of the fertilizer discharge was improved with the square of the correlation coefficient between the amount of fertilizer application and the roll rotational speed was larger than 0.999.It was deduced from the results that the precision and accuracy of the amount of fertilizer application are improved via eliminating the driving layer and enhancing the stable filling and conveying of the forced layer.Shan Zeng Yipeng Tan Yu Wang Xiwen Luo Lamei Yao Dengpan Huang Zewen Mo 2020International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2020,13,2:4
5N2O emission in partial nitritation-anammox process显示文摘Nitrous oxide(N2O)is one of the significant greenhouse gases,and partial nitritation-anammox(PNA)process emits higher N2O than traditional nitrogen removal processes.N2O production in PNA mainly occurs in three different pathways,i.e.,the ammonia oxidizing bacteria(AOB)denitrification,the hydroxylamine(NH2 OH)oxidation and heterotrophic denitrifiers denitrification.N2O emission data vary significantly because of the different operational conditions,bioreactor configurations,monitoring systems and quantitative methods.Under the common operational parameter scopes of PNA,N2O emission via NH2 OH oxidation dominates at relatively low dissolved oxygen(DO),low inorganic carbon(IC),high pH or low N02-concentration,while N2O emission via AOB denitrification dominates at relative higher DO,higher IC.lower pH or higher N2O-concentration.AOB are highly enriched while nitriteoxidizing bacteria(NOB)are rarely found in partial nitritation process,and the order Nitrosomonadales of AOB is the dominant group and N2O producer.Anammox bacteria,AOB and certain amount of heterotrophic denitrifying bacteria are observed in the anammox process,the genus Denitratisoma and the heterotrophic denitrifying bacteria in the deep layer of anammox granules are the dominant N2O generation bacteria.In one-stage PNA reactors,anammox bacteria account for a large fraction of the biomass,AOB account for small portion,and NOB account for even less.The microbial community,diversity and N2O producers in one-stage PNA reactors are similar with those in two-stage PNA reactors.The dominant anammox bacteria,AOB and NOB in PNA are the species Candidatus Brocadia,the genera of Nitrotoga,Nitrospira and Nitrobacter,and the genus Nitrosomonas,respectively.The relations between N2O emission pathways and microbial communities need further study in the future.Li Li Yu Ling Haiyan Wang Zhaosheng Chu Guokai Yan Zewen Li Tong Wu 2020Chinese Chemical Letters2020,31,1:3
6Identifying EGFR-Expressed Cells and Detecting EGFR Multi-Mutations at Single-Cell Level by Microfluidic Chip显示文摘EGFR mutations companion diagnostics have been proved to be crucial for the efficacy of tyrosine kinase inhibitor targeted cancer therapies. To uncover multiple mutations occurred in minority of EGFR-mutated cells,which may be covered by the noises from majority of unmutated cells, is currently becoming an urgent clinical requirement. Here we present the validation of a microfluidic-chip-based method for detecting EGFR multimutations at single-cell level. By trapping and immunofluorescently imaging single cells in specifically designed silicon microwells, the EGFR-expressed cellswere easily identified. By in situ lysing single cells, the cell lysates of EGFR-expressed cells were retrieved without cross-contamination. Benefited from excluding the noise from cells without EGFR expression, the simple and cost-effective Sanger's sequencing, but not the expensive deep sequencing of the whole cell population, was used to discover multi-mutations. We verified the new method with precisely discovering three most important EGFR drugrelated mutations from a sample in which EGFR-mutated cells only account for a small percentage of whole cell population. The microfluidic chip is capable of discovering not only the existence of specific EGFR multi-mutations,but also other valuable single-cell-level information: on which specific cells the mutations occurred, or whether different mutations coexist on the same cells. 7Rapid and selective uranium extraction from aqueous solution under visible light in the absence of solid photocatalyst显示文摘Extraction of uranium from radioactive waste-water is of significant importance for environmental protection and the recovery of uranium resource.Different from the previous reports to use the solid absorbent/photocatalyst for U(VI)removal,herein,we proposed a new eco-friendly method for the rapid and selective extraction of uranium from aqueous solutions under visible light without solid materials.At optimal pH value and in the presence of organics like alcohols,the U(VI)could be extracted efficiently to form brown uranium solid over wide uranium concentrations under anaerobic condition and visible light,by utilizing the excitation of the given U(VI)species.With comprehensive modelling of the electronic ultraviolet-visible(UV-Vis)properties,it is proved that pH adjusting towards U(VI)could induce efficient ligand-to-metal-charge-transfer(LMCT)within the uranyl complex under visible light and the reduction of U(VI)to form U(V),which can be transformed into U(IV)via disproportionation reaction.The resulting U(IV)in solid phase makes the extraction much more convenient in operation.More importantly,the excellent selectivity for uranium extraction over interfering alkali metal ions,transition metal ions and the lanthanide metal ions shows a powerful application potential.Shaojun Li Yezi Hu Zewen Shen Yawen Cai Zhuoyu Ji Xiaoli Tan Zhixin Liu Guixia Zhao Shuxian Hu Xiangke Wang 2021Science China Chemistry2021,64,8:2

9Application of aluminosilicate clay mineral-based composites in photocatalysis显示文摘Aluminosilicate clay mineral(ACM)is a kind of typical raw materials that used widely in manufacturing industry owing to the abundant reserve and low-cost exploring.In past two decades,in-depth understanding on unique layered structure and abundant surface proper-ties endows ACM in the emerging research and application fields.In field of solar-chemical energy conversion,ACM has been widely used to support various semiconductor photocata-lysts,forming the composites and achieving efficient conversion of reactants under sunlight irradiation.To date,classic ACM such as kaolinite and montmorillonite,loaded with semi-conductor photocatalysts has been widely applied in photocatalysis.This review summaries the recent works on ACM-based composites in photocatalysis.Focusing on the properties of surface and layered structure,we elucidate the different features in the composition with various functional photocatalysts on two typical kinds of ACM,i.e.,type 1∶1 and type 2∶1.Not only large surface area and active surface hydroxyl group assist the substrate adsorption,but also the layered structure provides more space to enlarge the application of ACM-based photocatalysts.Besides,we overview the modifications on ACM from both external surface and the inter-layer space that make the formation of composites more efficiently and boost the photo-chemical process.This review could inspire more upcoming design and synthesis for ACM-based photocatalysts,leading this kind of economic and eco-friendly materials for more practical application in the future.Yingtong Zou Yezi Hu Zewen Shen Ling Yao Duoyue Tang Sai Zhang Shuqin Wang Baowei Hu Guixia Zhao Xiangke Wang 2022Journal of Environmental Sciences2022,34,5:2

11State-of-the-art progress in the selective photo-oxidation of alcohols显示文摘Photocatalytic oxidation of alcohols has received more and more attention in recent years following the numerous studies on the degradation of pollutants, hydrogen evolution, and CO_(2) reduction by photocatalysis. Instead of the total oxidation of organics in the degradation process, the photo-oxidation of alcohols aims at the selective conversion of alcohols to produce carbonyl/acid compounds. Promising results have been achieved in designing the catalysts and reaction system, as well as in the mechanistic investigations in the past few years. This review summarizes the state-of-the-art progress in the photo-oxidation of alcohols, including the development of photocatalysts and cocatalysts, reaction conditions including the solvent and the atmosphere, and the exploration of mechanisms with scavengers experiment, electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform (DRIFT) spectroscopy. 12Evolution in physiochemical and cloud condensation nuclei activation properties of crop residue burning particles during photochemical aging显示文摘As a main form of biomass burning in agricultural countries, crop residue burning is a significant source of atmospheric fine particles. In this study, the aging of particles emitted from the burning of four major crop residues in China was investigated in a smog chamber.The particle size distribution, chemical composition and cloud condensation nuclei(CCN)activity were simultaneously measured. The properties of crop residue burning particles varied substantially among different fuel types. During aging, the particle size and mass concentration increased substantially, suggesting condensational growth by formation of secondary aerosols. The particle composition was dominated by organics. Aging resulted in considerable enhancement of organics and inorganics, with enhancement ratios of 1.24–1.44 and 1.33–1.76 respectively, as well as a continuous increase in the oxidation level of organics. Elevated CCN activity was observed during aging, with the hygroscopicity parameter κ varying from 0.16 to 0.34 for fresh particles and 0.19 to 0.40 for aged particles.Based on the volume mixing rule, the hygroscopicity parameter of organic components(κorg) was derived. κorgexhibited an increasing tendency with aging, which was generally consistent with the tendency of the O:C ratio, indicating that the oxidation level was related to the hygroscopicity and CCN activity of organic aerosols from crop residue burning. 16Optimization of material structure of ploy-Si thin film based on Al induced crystallization显示文摘Based on Al induced crystallization (AIC) method, influences of different material structures on formation and characteristics of ploy-silicon thin films were studied and optimized. Al-Si films on glass with different structures (Si/Al/Glass, Al/Si/Glass, Si/Al/…/Si/Al/Glass) were deposited on glass substrates by sputtering method. All samples were annealed for MIC with varied time processes under 500℃ N2 environment. X-ray diffraction test and scanning electron microscope were adopted to characterize crystallization performance and surface topography of AIC poly-silicon samples after removing resid- ual aluminum. The electrical properties were also characterized by Hall test method. 17Study on the solid-liquid suspension behavior in a tank stirred by the long-short blades impeller显示文摘We investigated the solid–liquid suspension characteristics in the tank with a liquid height/tank diameter ratio of 1.5 stirred by a novel long-short blades(LSB) impeller by the Euler granular flow model coupled with the standard k–ε turbulence model. After validation of the local solid holdup by experiments,numerical predictions have been successfully used to explain the influences of impeller rotating speed,particle density, particle size, liquid viscosity and initial solid loading on the solid suspension behavior,i.e. smaller particles with lower density are more likely to be suspended evenly in the liquid with higher liquid viscosity. At a low impeller rotating speed(N), increase in N leads to an obvious improvement in the solid distribution homogeneity. 18Cuticular compounds inhibit cannibalism of early-instar spiderlings by pulli-carrying Pardosa pseudoannulata females显示文摘Cannibalism is common in spiders.Wolf spider(Lycosidae)females,which exhibit extensive maternal care,have been reported to cannibalize less when they are carrying egg sacs and juveniles.In a laboratory experiment,we demonstrated that cannibalism of early-instar spiderlings(EIS)by a wolf spider(Pardosa pseudoannulata)mother was almost completely inhibited when she was carrying spiderlings.Compared with virgin and mated-females,mother spiders tolerated more and predated fewer spiderlings,including gregarious pulli and newly dispersed spiderlings(NDS).Cannibalism of EIS by females during their reproductive period exhibited a V-shaped pattern,with a gradual decrease from the egg sac-carrying to pulli-carrying(PC)stage,and a recovery from the PC stage to post-reproductive(PR)stage.Notably,there was 0 cannibalism at the PC stage.PC females exhibited no interest in pulli,while PR females were attracted to and predated pulli and NDS as they did their natural prey,Nilaparvata lugens.Interestingly,PC females captured and released NDS in a foraging assay,although attraction was observed from olfactometer measurements.PC mothers possessed a cuticular volatile profile that was closer to that of pulli and NDS than to that of PR females.Moreover,NDS cuticular extract provoked an electrophysiological response in legs of PC females.Therefore,cuticular compound-mediated chemical communication may be involved in inhibiting cannibalism of EIS by spider mothers,and especially in eliminating cannibalism by PC mothers.Future studies will aim to characterize the specific cuticular compounds and chemoreception mechanism in females,which will facilitate our understanding of intraspecific recognition and cannibalism in spiders.Na Yu Yunru Chen Guangming Xu Zhiming Yang Shijie Wang Tianyu Lu Yixi Zhang Zewen Liu 2022Insect Science2022,29,5:0

20Scattering Inversion Study for Suspended Label-Free Lymphocytes with Complex Fine Structures显示文摘Objective and Impact Statement.Distinguishing malignant lymphocytes from normal ones is vital in pathological examination.We proposed an inverse light scattering(ILS)method for label-free suspended lymphocytes with complex fine structures to identify their volumes for pathological state.Introduction.Light scattering as cell’s“fingerprint”provides valuable morphology information closely related to its biophysical states.However,the detail relationships between the morphology with complex fine structures and its scattering characters are not fully understood.Methods.To quantitatively inverse the volumes of membrane and nucleus as the main scatterers,clinical lymphocyte morphologies were modeled combining the Gaussian random sphere geometry algorithm by 750 reconstructed results after confocal scanning,which allowed the accurate simulation to solve ILS problem.For complex fine structures,the specificity for ILS study was firstly discussed(to our knowledge)considering the differences of not only surface roughness,posture,but also the ratio of nucleus to the cytoplasm and refractive index.Results.The volumes of membrane and nucleus were proved theoretically to have good linear relationship with the effective area and entropy of forward scattering images.Their specificity deviations were less than 3.5%.Then,our experimental results for microsphere and clinical leukocytes showed the Pearson product-moment correlation coefficients(PPMCC)of this linear relationship were up to 0.9830~0.9926.Conclusion.Our scattering inversion method could be effectively applied to identify suspended label-free lymphocytes without destructive sample pretreatments and complex experimental systems.Lu Zhang Huijun Wang Jianyi Liu Shuang Chen He Yang Zewen Yang Zhenxi Zhang Hong Zhao Li Yuan Lifang Tian Bo Zhong Xiaolong Liu 2022Biomedical Engineering Frontiers2022,3,1:0
