3Release characteristics of mercury in chemical looping combustion of bituminous coal显示文摘This study evaluated the release characteristics of mercury from bituminous coal in chemical looping combustion(CLC)using Australian iron ore as the oxygen carrier in a fixed bed reactor.The effects of several parameters,such as temperature in the fuel reactor(FR)and air reactor(AR),gasification medium in the FR,and reaction atmosphere in the AR,on mercury release characteristics,were investigated.The mercury speciation and release amount in the FR and AR under different conditions were further explored.The results indicate that most of the mercury in coal was released in the FR,while the rest of it was released in the AR.Hg0 was found to be the major species in the released mercury.The results also indicate that a higher temperature in the FR led to an increase in the total mercury release amount and a decrease in Hg0 proportion.However,a higher temperature in the AR resulted in a decrease in the total mercury release amount and Hg 0 proportion.The increase in the H2O/CO2 ratio of gasification mediums in the FR was beneficial for the increase in the total mercury release amount and Hg 0 proportion.A higher O2 concentration in reaction atmosphere in AR had a negligible effect on the total mercury release amount,but a positive effect on Hg0 oxidization.Ling Ji Qianwen Wang Zhiyue Zhang Hao Wu Changsong Zhou Hongmin Yang 2020Journal of Environmental Sciences2020,32,8:5
4Clinical characteristics of 310 SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant patients and comparison with Delta and Beta variant patients in China显示文摘Although the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)Omicron variant has spread,data on the clinical characteristics of infected patients are limited.In this study,the demographic,clinical characteristics,and laboratory data of 310 SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant patients treated at Haihe Hospital of Tianjin were collected and analyzed.Information on these patients was compared to 96 patients with the Delta variant of concern(VOC)and 326 patients with the Beta VOC during the previous coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)outbreak in Harbin.Of the 310 patients infected with the Omicron variant,the median age was 35 years.Most patients were clinically classified as mild(57.74%),and the most common symptoms were cough(48.71%),fever(39.35%),and sore throat(38.26%).The results for different vaccination groups in the Omicron group showed that the median of“SARS-CoV-2 specific IgG”after 2 or 3 doses of vaccination was higher than the unvaccinated group(all Ps<0.05).Older age was associated with a higher proportion of moderate cases and lower asymptomatic and mild cases based on clinical classifications.Compared to the Delta and Beta groups,the median age of the Omicron group was younger.The total number of asymptomatic patients and mild patients in the Omicron virus group was higher than the Delta and Beta groups(60.97%vs.54.17%vs.47.55%).This study presented the clinical characteristics of the first group of patients infected with the Omicron variant in Tianjin,China,and compared their clinical features with patients infected by the Delta and Beta variants,which would increase our understanding of the characteristics of SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant.Wei Yang Songliu Yang Lei Wang Yuxin Zhou Yu Xin Hongxu Li Wenjing Mu Qi Wu Lei Xu Mingyan Zhao Changsong Wang Kaijiang Yu 2022Virologica Sinica2022,37,5:4
5Determination of the metastable zone and induction time of thiourea for cooling crystallization显示文摘The solubility,metastable zone width(MSZW),and induction time of thiourea for cooling crystallization were experimentally determined in the temperature range of 283-323 K.The solubility data could be well described by the Apelblat equation model as lnx=-99.55+1071.66/T+16.27 lnT.The determinations of the effects of various stirring and cooling rates indicated that the MSZW increased with increasing and decreasing cooling and stirring rates,respectively.Furthermore,the induction times at various temperatures and supersaturation ratios were also measured.The results indicated that homogeneous nucleation could occur at high supersaturation,whereas heterogeneous nucleation was more likely to occur at low supersaturation.Based on the classical nucleation theory and induction period data,the calculated solid-liquid interfacial tensions of thiourea in deionized water at 302.46 and 312.58 K were 2.86 and 2.94 mJ·m^(-2),respectively.Tong Zhou Chunzhao Tu Ya Sun Linan Ji Chuangxian Bian Xiaohua Lu Changsong Wang 2021Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2021,34,3:3
6First experimental constraints on WIMP couplings in the effective field theory framework from CDEX显示文摘We present weakly interacting massive particles(WIMPs) search results performed using two approaches of effective field theory from the China Dark Matter Experiment(CDEX), based on the data from both CDEX-1B and CDEX-10 stages. In the nonrelativistic effective field theory approach, both time-integrated and annual modulation analyses were used to set new limits for the coupling of WIMP-nucleon effective operators at 90% confidence level(C.L.) and improve over the current bounds in the low mχregion. In the chiral effective field theory approach, data from CDEX-10 were used to set an upper limit on WIMP-pion coupling at 90% C.L. 8Integrated microdevice with a windmill-like hole array for the clog-free,efficient,and self-mixing enrichment of circulating tumor cells显示文摘Circulating tumor cells(CTCs)have tremendous potential to indicate disease progression and monitor therapeutic response using minimally invasive approaches.Considering the limitations of affinity strategies based on their cost,effectiveness,and simplicity,size-based enrichment methods that involve low-cost,label-free,and relatively simple protocols have been further promoted.Nevertheless,the key challenges of these methods are clogging issues and cell aggregation,which reduce the recovery rates and purity.Inspired by the natural phenomenon that the airflow around a windmill is disturbed,in this study,a windmill-like hole array on the SU-8 membrane was designed to perturb the fluid such that cells in a fluid would be able to self-mix and that the pressure acting on cells or the membrane would be dispersed to allow a greater velocity.In addition,based on the advantages of fluid coatings,a lipid coating was used to modify the membrane surface to prevent cell aggregation and clogging of the holes.Under the optimal conditions,recovery rates of 93%and 90%were found for A549 and HeLa cells in a clinical simulation test of our platform with a CTC concentration of 20-100 cells per milliliter of blood.The white blood cell(WBC)depletion rate was 98.7%(n=15),and the CTC detection limit was less than 10 cells per milliliter of blood(n=6).Moreover,compared with conventional membrane filtration,the advantages of the proposed device for the rapid(2 mL/min)and efficient enrichment of CTCs without clogging were shown both experimentally and theoretically.Due to its advantages in the efficient,rapid,uniform,and clog-free enrichment of CTCs,our platform offers great potential for metastatic detection and therapy analyses.Hao Li Jinze Li Zhiqi Zhang Zhen Guo Changsong Zhang Zixu Wang Qiuquan Guo Chao Li Chuanyu Li Jia Yao Anran Zheng Jingyi Xu Qingxue Gao Wei Zhang Lianqun Zhou 2022Microsystems & Nanoengineering2022,8,1:1
9Spatial multi-scaled chimera states of cerebral cortex network and its inherent structure-dynamics relationship in human brain显示文摘Human cerebral cortex displays various dynamics patterns under different states,however the mechanism how such diverse patterns can be supported by the underlying brain network is still not well understood.Human brain has a unique network structure with different regions of interesting to perform cognitive tasks.Using coupled neural mass oscillators on human cortical network and paying attention to both global and local regions,we observe a new feature of chimera states with multiple spatial scales and a positive correlation between the synchronization preference of local region and the degree of symmetry of the connectivity of the region in the network.Further,we use the concept of effective symmetry in the network to build structural and dynamical hierarchical trees and find close matching between them.These results help to explain the multiple brain rhythms observed in experiments and suggest a generic principle for complex brain network as a structure substrate to support diverse functional patterns.Siyu Huo Changhai Tian Muhua Zheng Shuguang Guan Changsong Zhou Zonghua Liu 2021National Science Review2021,8,1:1

13Less is more: wiring-economical modular networks support self-sustained firing-economical neural avalanches for efficient processing显示文摘The brain network is notably cost-efficient, while the fundamental physical and dynamic mechanisms underlying its economical optimization in network structure and activity have not been determined. In this study, we investigate the intricate cost-efficient interplay between structure and dynamics in biologically plausible spatial modular neuronal network models. We observe that critical avalanche states from excitation-inhibition balance under modular network topology with less wiring cost can also achieve lower costs in firing but with strongly enhanced response sensitivity to stimuli. We derive mean-field equations that govern the macroscopic network dynamics through a novel approximate theory. The mechanism of low firing cost and stronger response in the form of critical avalanches is explained as a proximity to a Hopf bifurcation of the modules when increasing their connection density.
