1Acetylglutamate kinase is required for both gametophyte function and embryo development in Arabidopsis thaliana显示文摘The specific functions of the genes encoding arginine biosynthesis enzymes in plants are not well characterized. We report the isolation and characterization of Arabidopsis thaliana N-acetylglutamate kinase(NAGK), which catalyzes the second step of arginine biosynthesis. NAGK is a plastid-localized protein and is expressed during most developmental processes in Arabidopsis. Heterologous expression of the Arabidopsis NAGK gene in a NAGK-deficient Escherichia coli strain fully restores bacterial growth on arginine-deficient medium. nagk mutant pollen tubes grow more slowly than wild type pollen tubes and the phenotype is restored by either specifically through complementation by NAGK in pollen, or exogenous supplementation of arginine. nagk female gametophytes are defective in micropylar pollen tube guidance due to the fact that female gametophyte cell fate specification was specifically affected. Expression of NAGK in synergid cells rescues the defect of nagk female gametophytes. Lossof-function of NAGK results in Arabidopsis embryos not developing beyond the four-celled embryo stage. The embryo-defective phenotype in nagk/NAGK plants cannot be rescued by watering nagk/NAGK plants with arginine or ornithine supplementation. 2Optimization of the thermoelectric properties of poly(nickel-ethylenetetrathiolate) synthesized via potentiostatic deposition显示文摘The coordination polymer poly(nickel-ethylenetetrathiolate)(poly(Ni-ett)), formed by nickel(II) and 1,1,2,2-ethenetetrathiolate(ett), is the most promising N-type organic thermoelectric material ever reported; it is synthesized via potentiostatic deposition,and the effect of different applied potentials on the optimal performance of the polymers is investigated. The optimal thermoelectric property of poly(Ni-ett) synthesized at 0.6 V is remarkably greater than that of the polymers synthesized at 1 and 1.6 V, exhibiting a maximum power factor of up to 131.6 μW/mK^2 at 360 K. Furthermore, the structure-property correlation of poly(Ni-ett) is also extensively investigated. 3Identification of massive molecular markers in Echinochloa phyllopogon using a restriction-site associated DNA approach显示文摘Echinochloa phyllopogon proliferation seriously threatens rice production worldwide. We combined a restriction-site associated DNA(RAD) approach with Illumina DNA sequencing for rapid and mass discovery of simple sequence repeat(SSR) and single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP) markers for E. phyllopogon. RAD tags were generated from the genomic DNA of two E. phyllopogon plants, and sequenced to produce 5197.7 Mb and 5242.9 Mb high quality sequences, respectively. The GC content of E. phyllopogon was 45.8%, which is high for monocots. In total, 4710 putative SSRs were identified in 4132 contigs, which permitted the design of PCR primers for E. phyllopogon. Most repeat motifs among the SSRs identified were dinucleotide(>82%), and most of these SSRs were four motif-repeats(>75%). The most frequent motif was AT, accounting for 36.3%-37.2%, followed by AG and AC. In total, 78 putative polymorphic SSR loci were found. A total of 49,179 SNPs were discovered between the two samples of E. phyllopogon, 67.1% of which were transversions and 32.9% were transitions. 4A chromosome-level genome assembly of rugged rose (Rosa rugosa) provides insights into its evolution, ecology, and floral characteristics显示文摘Rosa rugosa,commonly known as rugged rose,is a perennial ornamental shrub.It produces beautiful flowers with a mild fragrance and colorful seed pods.Unlike many other cultivated roses,R.rugosa adapts to a wide range of habitat types and harsh environmental conditions such as salinity,alkaline,shade,drought,high humidity,and frigid temperatures.Here,we produced and analyzed a high-quality genome sequence for R.rugosa to understand its ecology,floral characteristics and evolution.PacBio HiFi reads were initially used to construct the draft genome of R.rugosa,and then Hi-C sequencing was applied to assemble the contigs into 7 chromosomes.We obtained a 382.6Mb genome encoding 39,704 protein-coding genes.The genome of R.rugosa appears to be conserved with no additional whole-genome duplication after the gamma whole-genome triplication(WGT),which occurred~100 million years ago in the ancestor of core eudicots.Based on a comparative analysis of the high-quality genome assembly of R.rugosa and other high-quality Rosaceae genomes,we found a unique large inverted segment in the Chinese rose R.chinensis and a retroposition in strawberry caused by post-WGT events.We also found that floral development-and stress response signaling-related gene modules were retained after the WGT.Two MADS-box genes involved in floral development and the stress-related transcription factors DREB2A-INTERACTING PROTEIN 2(DRIP2)and PEPTIDE TRANSPORTER 3(PTR3)were found to be positively selected in evolution,which may have contributed to the unique ability of this plant to adapt to harsh environments.In summary,the high-quality genome sequence of R.rugosa provides a map for genetic studies and molecular breeding of this plant and enables comparative genomic studies of Rosa in the near future.Fei Chen Liyao Su Shuaiya Hu Jia-Yu Xue Hui Liu Guanhua Liu Yifan Jiang Jianke Du Yushan Qiao Yannan Fan Huan Liu Qi Yang Wenjie Lu Zhu-Qing Shao Jian Zhang Liangsheng Zhang Feng Chen Zong-Ming(Max)Cheng 2021Horticulture Research2021,8,1:2
5Advances in organic thermoelectric materials and devices for smart applications显示文摘Organic thermoelectric(OTE)materials have been considered to be promising candidates for large area and low‐cost wearable devices owing to their tailorable molecular structure,intrinsic flexibility,and prominent solution processability.More importantly,OTE materials offer direct energy conversion from the human body,solid‐state cooling at low electric consumption,and diversified functions.Herein,we summarize recent developments of OTE materials and devices for smart applications.We first review the fundamentals of OTE materials from the viewpoint of thermoelectric performance,mechanical properties and bionic functions.Second,we describe OTE devices in flexible generators,photothermoelectric detectors,self‐powered sensors,and ultra‐thin cooling elements.Finally,we present the challenges and perspectives on OTE materials as well as devices in wearable electronics and fascinating applications in the Internet of Things.Yue Zhao Liyao Liu Fengjiao Zhang Chong‐an Di Daoben Zhu 2021SmartMat2021,2,4:2

8Review of ultraviolet ageing mechanisms and anti-ageing methods for asphalt binders显示文摘Asphalt binder is inevitably aged by ultraviolet(UV)light during its service period.UV ageing can significantly decrease the technical properties of asphalt binder.The sensitivity of asphalt to UV ageing and thermal-oxidative ageing differs,such that the UV ageing performance cannot be determined based on the thermal-oxidative ageing performance.Previous researches mainly focused on the chemical composite and technical performance changes of asphalt binder during UV ageing,and the UV light parameters effect on the ageing rate of asphalt binder.However,the theory for characterizing and explaining the development of UV ageing depth does not get too much attentions,and the UV ageing mechanism of asphalt binder is not very clear.Therefore,it cannot guide to develop or select the good methods or anti-UV ageing additives for asphalt binders.This paper focuses on the latest researches of the mechanisms and anti-ageing methods of asphalt binders.With the increase of UV ageing time,the UV ageing of asphalt binder develops gradually from the surface to inner part.There are various methods,such as low-penetration grade asphalt,less air void ratio,UV stabilizers and UV light absorbers,that can improve the UV ageing resistance of asphalt binders.A new theory of sensitive wavelengths of asphalt UV ageing is proposed,which can enrich the basic theory of asphalt UV ageing.Depending on this theory,different wavelengths of UV light have different ageing effects on asphalt binder.The composite anti-UV ageing additives with barrier and specific absorption effects on UV light is proposed,and may have better improvement effect on the anti-UV ageing performance of asphalt binder.Yuanyuan Li Jianlin Feng Shaopeng Wu Anqi Chen Dongliang Kuang Tao Bai Yangming Gao Jizhe Zhang Linglin Li Liyao Wan Quantao Liu Zongwu Chen Dengjun Gu 2022Journal of Road Engineering2022,2,2:1

11Identification of key genes regulating the synthesis of quercetin derivatives in Rosa roxburghii through integrated transcriptomics and metabolomics显示文摘Rosa roxburghii fruit is rich in flavonoids, but little is known about their biosynthetic pathways. In this study, we employed transcriptomics and metabolomics to study changes related to the flavonoids at five different stages of R. roxburghii fruit development. Flavonoids and the genes related to their biosynthesis were found to undergo significant changes in abundance across different developmental stages, and numerous quercetin derivatives were identified. We found three gene expression modules that were significantly associated with the abundances of the different flavonoids in R. roxburghii and identified three structural UDP-glycosyltransferase genes directly involved in the synthesis of quercetin derivatives within these modules. In addition, we found that RrBEH4, RrLBD1 and RrPIF8could significantly increase the expression of downstream quercetin derivative biosynthesis genes. 12Upregulation of histone H3 caused by CRYAA may contribute to the development of age-related cataract显示文摘Objective:Age-relate cataract(ARC)is a disease of the eyes with no effective drugs to prevent or treat patients.The aim of the present study is to determine whether histone H3,αA-crystallin(CRYAA),β-galactosidase(GLB1),and p53 are involved in the pathogenesis of ARC.Methods:A total of 99 anterior lens capsules(ALCs)of patients with ARC of various nuclear grades,ultraviolet models of ALCs,and two human lens epithelial cell lines(FHL-124 and SRA01/04)were used,and the expression of histone H3,CRYAA,GLB1,and p53 were detected by immunoblotting and reverse transcription and real time-quantitative polymerase chain reaction.The association between CRYAA with histone H3,GLB1,and p53 was assessed in FHL-124 and SRA01/04 cells following CRYAA overexpression.Results:Histone H3 and p53 in ALCs of patients with ARC were up-regulated in a grade-dependent manner,and the expression of CRYAA showed a positive association with histone H3,p53,and GLB1.In UV models of ALCs and human lens epithelial cell lines,the expression levels of histone H3,cell apoptosis factors(Bax/Bcl-2,cleaved caspase-3),and inflammation factors(interleukin-6,tumor necrosis factor-α)were all up-regulated.Furthermore,transfection of CRYAA in FHL-124 cells induced overexpression of histone H3.Conclusion:CRYAA-mediated upregulation of histone H3 may be involved in the pathogenesis of ARC.p53 may also have a role in ARC development,but not via the CRYAA-histone H3 axis.The results of the present study may assist in improving our understanding of the pathogenesis of ARC and in identifying potential targets for treatment.CHAO WANG JUNWEI WANG FANQIAN SONG HANRUO LIU LIYAO SUN XI WEI TAO ZHENG HUA QIAN XIAOGUANG LI WEIHUA ZHANG XIANLING TANG PING LIU 2023BIOCELL2023,47,1:0
13Comparison of Fully 3-D,Simplified 3-D and 2-D Numerical Simulations on a Circulating Fluidized Bed Boiler显示文摘Based on the fully three-dimensional(3-D)and two-dimensional(2-D)comprehensive CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics)combustion models for a circulating fluidized bed boiler,a simplified 3-D computational domain considering the corrections of furnace side wall openings is proposed.It aims to compensate for the deficiencies of the large amount of computation in the fully 3-D model and improve the air and gas flow treatments at the openings in the simplified 2-D model.Three different computational domains,named as the fully 3-D model,simplified 3-D model and 2-D model,were implemented to perform a comparative CFD analysis in an ultra-supercritical circulating fluidized bed boiler including the hydrodynamics,penetration depth of secondary air,temperature and species distribution.The simulation results computed by the simplified3-D model yield better agreement with the fully 3-D simulation results than those of the 2-D model.The simplified 3-D model is recommended as an alternative computational domain for the conventional 2-D model in the numerical simulation of large-scale circulating fluidized bed boiler.LI Kun CHENG Leming MA Zhangke LUO Guanwen LI Liyao ZHANG Qingyu GUO Qiang ZHAO Liang 2023Journal of Thermal Science2023,32,5:0

16RPL18aB helps maintain suspensor identity during early embryogenesis显示文摘During embryogenesis, plants are thought to use a mechanism that allows the suspensor to maintain its identity. Here, we reported that RPL_18aB is involved in this mechanism in Arabidopsis thaliana. The suspensor cells proliferated in rpl_18aB and formed a multicellular structure rather than undergo programmed cell death, as in wild type. Suspensors of rpl_18aB expressed the embryo proper marker, DRN::GFP, but not the suspensor marker, WOX8::GFP. In addition, auxin accumulated throughout the suspensors of rpl_18aB proembryos. Suspensor-specific expression of RPL_18aB could rescue the cell proliferation defects in rpl_18aB suspensors. 17Management of triplet excitons transition:fine regulation of Förster and dexter energy transfer simultaneously显示文摘Understanding and management of triplet excitons transition in the same molecule remain a great challenge.Hence,for the first time,by host engineering,manageable transitions of triplet excitons in a naphthalimide derivative NDOH were achieved,and monitored through the intensity ratio(ITADF/IRTP)between thermally activated delayed fluorescence(TADF)and room-temperature phosphorescence(RTP).Energy differences between lowest triplet excited states of host and guest were changed from 0.03 to 0.17 eV,and ITADF/IRTP of NDOH decreased by 200 times,thus red shifting the afterglow color.It was proposed that shorter conjugation length led to larger band gaps of host materials,thus contributing to efficient Dexter and inefficient Förster energy transfer.Interestingly,no transition to singlet state and only strongest RTP with quantum yield of 13.9%could be observed,when PBNC with loosest stacking and largest band gap acted as host.This work provides novel insight for the management and prediction of triplet exciton transitions and the development of smart afterglow materials.Jiaqiang Wang Yujie Yang Xinnan Sun Xiaoning Li Liyao Zhang Zhen Li 2024Light(Science & Applications)2024,13,2:0
