3Geochemical and Grain-Sized Implications for Provenance Variations of the Central Yellow Sea Muddy Area Since the Middle Holocene显示文摘Based on high-resolution analysis to a 280-cm long sediment core obtained from the muddy area in the central Yellow Sea, we examined the provenance of muddy sediments and discussed the changing marine sedimentary environment since the middle Holocene. The results indicated that fine-grained sediments in the muddy area were mainly derived from the Huanghe(Yellow River) and Changjiang(Yangtze River) with considerable stepwise variations during the past 6.6 kyr. The Yellow Sea Warm Current was initiated at 6 kyr when the sea level was high together with the enhanced East Asian Winter Monsoon. These in combination established the framework of shelf circulation in the Yellow Sea that began to trap the river-derived fine-grained sediments. From 4.9 kyr to 2.8 kyr, both the Kushiro Current and East Asian Monsoon were significantly weakened, reducing the delivery of Changjiang sediments to the muddy area. As a result, the sediments were mainly originated from the Huanghe. From 2.8 kyr to 1.5 kyr the continuously weakened East Asian Winter Monsoon and enhanced Yellow Sea Warm Current entrapped more fine-grain sediments. Whereas the enhanced East Asian Winter Monsoon and the human caused increase in sediment load of the Huanghe since 1.5 kyr, and direct delivery of Huanghe sediments to the Yellow Sea during 1128–1855 AD might dominated the sedimentation in the study area. 4A progressive method for the collapse of river representation considering geographical characteristics显示文摘During map generalization,the collapse of geometry,which is also called geometric dimension reduction,is a basic generalization operation.When the map scale decreases,rivers with long,shallow polygonal shapes,usually require their dual-line representation to be collapsed to a single line.This study presents a new algorithm called superpixel river collapse(SURC)to convert dual-line rivers to single-line rivers based on raster data.In this method,dual-line rivers are first segmented at different levels of detail using a superpixel method called simple linear iterative clustering.Then,by connecting the edge midpoints and centre of mass of each superpixel,single-line rivers are preliminarily generated from dual-line rivers.Finally,an interpolation algorithm called polynomial approximation with an exponential kernel is applied to maintain the uniform distribution of the feature points of single-line rivers at different levels of detail(LOD).The presented method can progressively collapse the river during scale transformation to support the LOD representation in a highly sensitive way.The results show that compared with three typical thinning algorithms,the SURC method can generate smooth single-line rivers from dual-line rivers considering different river widths while effectively avoiding burrs and fractured intersections.Yilang Shen Tinghua Ai Jingzhong Li Lina Huang Wende Li 2020International Journal of Digital Earth2020,13,12:3
5The Cooperative Activities of CSLD2, CSLD3, and CSLD5 Are Required for Normal Arabidopsis Development显示文摘Glycosyltransferases of the Cellulose Synthase Like D (CSLD) subfamily have been reported to be involved in tip growth and stem development in Arabidopsis. The csld2 and csld3 mutants are root hair defective and the csld5 mutant has reduced stem growth. In this study, we produced double and triple knockout mutants of CSLD2, CSLD3, and CSLD5. Unlike the single mutants and the csld2/csld3 double mutant, the csld2/csld5, csld3/csld5, and csld2/ csld3/csld5 mutants were dwarfed and showed severely reduced viability. This demonstrates that the cooperative activities of CSLD2, CSLD3, and CSLD5 are required for normal Arabidopsis development, and that they are involved in important processes besides the specialized role in tip growth. The mutant phenotypes indicate that CSLD2 and CSLD3 have overlapping functions with CSLD5 in early plant development, whereas the CSLD2 and CSLD3 proteins are non-redundant. To determine the biochemical function of CSLD proteins, we used transient expression in tobacco leaves. Microsomes containing heterologously expressed CSLD5 transferred mannose from GDP–mannose onto endogenous acceptors. The same activity was detected when CSLD2 and CSLD3 were co-expressed but not when they were expressed separately. With monosaccharides as exogenous acceptors, microsomal preparations from CSLD5-expressing plants mediated the transfer of mannose from GDP–mannose onto mannose. 7Chemoenzymatic synthesis amphiphilic H-shaped copolymer and its self-assembly behavior显示文摘ABA triblock copolymers were synthesized by dihydroxyl-capped PEO initiated enzymatic ring-opening polymerization (eROP) of ε-CL in the presence of biocatalyst Novozyme 435. The chains ended with hydroxyl of block copolymers were modified by the esterification of 2,2-dichloro acetyl chloride (DCAC) to obtain the tetrafunctional macroinitiator,which was used in the ATRP of 4-vinylpyridine (4-VP). CuCl/HMTETA was used as the catalyst system in the ATRP of 4-VP to acquire the H-shaped block copolymers (PVP)2-b-PCL-b-PEG-b-PCL-b-(PVP)2. The H-shaped block copolymers were characterized by FTIR,NMR,and GPC. Copolymers with high molecular weights (Mn = 46121 g/mol) and low polydispersities (Mw/Mn = 1.30) were prepared. Moreover,the morphology of the copolymer was examined with dynamic light scattering (DLS) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). 8Inactivation of OslRX10 Leads to Decreased Xylan Content in Rice Culm Cell Walls and Improved Biomass Saccharification显示文摘Dear Editor, Xylan polysaccharides constitute the major non-cellulosic components in secondary cell walls of dicots and in both primary and secondary cell walls of grasses (Scheller and Ulvskov,2010).Xylan is composed of a linear backbone of 13(1-4)-linked xylose (Xyl).In grasses,the xylan backbone is substituted with O3-1inked and O2-1inked arabinose residues and,to a lesser extent,α(1-3)-Iinked glucuronic acid residues.A unique feature of grass xylans is the presence of hydroxycinnamate esters (ferulic and p-coumaric acid residues)attached to C5 of some of the arabinosyl residues (Carpita,1996;Vogel,2008;Scheller and Ulvskov,2010).Xylan contributes to the recalcitrance of plant cell walls to enzymatic degradation probably through direct interaction with cellulose microfibrils and also through formation of ferulate cross-links (liyama et al.,1994;Yin et al.,2011).Xuewei Chen Miguel E. 12Relationship between PaO_(2)/FiO_(2) and delirium in intensive care:A cross-sectional study显示文摘Background::To investigate the relationship between partial pressure of oxygen(PaO_(2))/fraction of inspired oxygen(FiO_(2))and the probability of delirium in intensive care units(ICUs).Methods::The investigation was a cross-sectional study that involved the collection of data from patients admitted to the Xiang Ya Hospital Cardiothoracic Surgical Care Unit and Comprehensive Intensive Care Unit from 01 September 2016 to 10 December 2016.Delirium was diagnosed using the simplified version of the Chinese Confusion Assessment Method(CAM)for the ICU.Demographic and medical data were obtained within 24 h of each patient admitted in the ICU.The PaO_(2)/FiO_(2) of each patient was recorded 24 h after admission in the ICU.The patients were divided into three groups according to PaO_(2)/FiO_(2) data:normal(PaO_(2)/FiO_(2)≥300 mmHg),slightly low(200≥PaO_(2)/FiO_(2)<300 mmHg),and severely low(PaO_(2)/FiO_(2)<200 mmHg).Baseline characteristics were compared in the three groups.Results of the unadjusted model,minimally adjusted model,and fully adjusted model are presented.Results::A total of 403 participants were included in the study,of which 184(45.7%)developed delirium.Age(P<0.001),Sequential Organ Failure Assessment(SOFA)score(P<0.001),Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation(APACHE)II score(P<0.001),mechanical ventilation time(P<0.001),history of hypertension(P=0.040),heart disease(P=0.040),sedation(P=0.001),and PaO_(2)/FiO_(2)(P=0.006)were significantly associated with delirium in univariate analysis.Multivariate regression analysis models were used to further analyze the associations between PaO_(2)/FiO_(2) and delirium.In the crude model,for 1 standard deviation(SD)increase in PaO_(2)/FiO_(2),the odds ratio(OR)of delirium was 0.8(95%confidence interval[CI]:0.6-0.9),but there was no significant correlation in the fully adjusted model.There was a non-linear relationship between the PaO_(2)/FiO_(2) and delirium in a generalized additive model.A two-piecewise linear regression model was used to calculate a PaO_(2)/FiO_(2) threshold of 243 mmHg.On the left side of the threshold,the OR was 0.9 and the 95%CI was 0.9-1.0(P=0.013)when PaO_(2)/FiO_(2) increased by 1 SD.Conclusions::PaO_(2)/FiO_(2) was negatively associated with delirium when PaO_(2)/FiO_(2) was below the identified threshold.As a readily available laboratory indicator,PaO_(2)/FiO_(2) has potential value in the clinical evaluation of risk of delirium in ICU patients.Fang Gong Yuhang Ai Lina Zhang Qianyi Peng Quan Zhou Chunmei Gui 2023Journal of Intensive Medicine2023,3,1:0

14Meta-Analysis of Polymerase Chain Reaction in the Detection of Human Leptospirosis显示文摘Leptospirosis,a major zoonotic disease widespread in the world,would infect humans and other animals by direct contacting with the soil or water contaminated by the pathogenic leptospires.This report analyzes the accuracy of polymerase chain reaction(PCR)assay used in the detection of leptospira specific genes in humans.Seventeen published articles which included 2526 samples satisfied all inclusion standards and were applied to meta-analysis.Pooled sensitivity and specificity were 0.73(95%CI 0.70-0.76)and 0.94(95%CI 0.93-0.95),respectively.Heterogeneity was statistically significant among studies,but none of the sources for heterogeneity(disease stage,PCR type,targeted genes)could adequately interpret this finding.Meta-regression advised that real-time PCR(qPCR)targeted 16 s rRNA would be the best choice for early detection of cases during the acute stage of the disease and was accounted as a good screening tool in all stages of the disease.MA Lina MA Ya LUO Bailing MA Bishu YAN Jie LIN Xu'ai 2020Wuhan University Journal of Natural Sciences2020,25,5:0
