| 2 | Geographical characteristics of China’s wetlands derived from remotely sensed data显示文摘In this paper, we report the first wetland mapping of the entire China using Landsat enhanced thematic mapper plus (ETM+) data. These data were obtained from the Global Land Cover Facility at the University of Maryland spanning from 1999 to 2002. A total of 597 scenes of Landsat images were georeferenced and mosaiced. Manual image interpretation of satellite images was aided with elevation data, soil data, land cover/land use data and Google Earth. The minimum mapping unit is 10 pixel × 10 pixel, equivalent to 9 ha. The aim of our first round of mapping was only targeted at the boundary delineation of any type of wetland except those wetlands that are under agricultural use (i.e., paddy fields), which has already been well mapped by others. Our interpretation results indicate that a total of 359478 km2 of wetlands are of non-agricultural use. Among our preliminarily mapped wetland, 339353 km2 are inland wetland, 2786 km2 are non-agricultural artificial wetland, and 17609 km2 are coastal wetland. Because low-tide is rarely captured in satellite images, an under-estimation of coastal wetland is inevitable. We conducted some statistics based on our mapped wetlands and compared them with those previously obtained from a number of sources including a land cover/land use map made with satellite images during the late 1990s and early 2000s, a marshland map developed in approximately the same period, survey data of coastal wetland in early 1980s, and area data for approximately 400 larger patches of marshland in China compiled in 1996. Because some inconsistencies exist in the guidelines of those different wetland surveys, difference in area is expected. Some further comparison indicates that the wetland distributions derived from the preliminary wetland map are reasonable and more objective than other sources. The mapping process also indicated that the method adopted by us was efficient and cost-effective. We also found that in order to ensure comparability of the wetland maps developed at different times, a set of standard guidelines on the wetland categories to be mapped, and the mapping methods to be used must be well conceived, developed and effectively employed. | 4 | Comparison of the Diagnostic Ability of Retinal Nerve Fiber Layer Thickness Measured using Time Domain and Spectral Domain Optical Coherence Tomography in Primary Open Angle Glaucoma显示文摘Purpose:To evaluate and compare the diagnostic ability of retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness measurements using time domain (Stratus) and spectral domain (Cirrus HD) optical coherence tomography(OCT).in preperimetric and early primary open angle glaucoma (POAG). Methods:A total of 62 eyes from 62 normal subjects,47 eyes from 47 early perimetric damage POAG patients and 30 eyes from 30 preperimetric glaucoma patients were chosen in the study.All the subjects underwent peripapillary RNFL thickness measurements using Stratus OCT and Cirrus HD-OCT on the same day by a single trained operator.The RNFL thickness measured by Stratus OCT and Cirrus HD-OCT was statistically compared using paired t-tests.The relationship between RNFL thickness measured by two OCT instruments was evaluated using Pearson's correlation coefficient.Areas under the receiver operating characteristic curves (AROC) were calculated and compared. Results:RNFL thickness measured using Stratus OCT was generally thicker than that using Cirrus HD-OCT(P<0.05). A highly significant correlation between the two OCT instruments measurements was found in four quadrants and average RNFL thickness measurements (P<0.001). The average RNFL thickness of Cirrus HD-OCT had significantly(P=0.006) higher diagnostic ability (AROC=0.951) than that of Stratus OCT(AROC=0.881) in preperimetric glaucoma. There were no significant differences between the AROCs for other RNFL thickness parameters from Cirrus HD-OCT and Stratus OCT in preperimetric and early glaucoma(P>0.05). Conclusion: Significant differences and an excellent correlation were noted in terms of RNFL thickness measurements using Stratus OCT and Cirrus HD-OCT. | 5 | Influence of plant architecture on maize physiology and yield in the Heilonggang River valley显示文摘The size and distribution of leaf area determine light interception in a crop canopy and influence overall photosynthesis and yield. Optimized plant architecture renders modern maize hybrids(Zea mays L.) more productive, owing to their tolerance of high plant densities. To determine physiological and yield response to maize plant architecture, a field experiment was conducted in 2010 and 2011. With the modern maize hybrid ZD958, three plant architectures, namely triangle, diamond and original plants, were included at two plant densities, 60,000 and 90,000 plants ha-1. Triangle and diamond plants were derived from the original plant by spraying the chemical regulator Jindele(active ingredients,ethephon, and cycocel) at different vegetative stages. To assess the effects of plant architecture, a light interception model was developed. Plant height, ear height, leaf size,and leaf orientation of the two regulated plant architectures were significantly reduced or altered compared with those of the original plants. On average across both plant densities and years, the original plants showed higher yield than the triangle and diamond plants,probably because of larger leaf area. The two-year mean grain yield of the original and diamond plants were almost the same at 90,000 plants ha-1(8714 vs. 8798 kg ha-1). The yield increase(up to 5%) of the diamonds plant at high plant densities was a result of increased kernel number per ear, which was likely a consequence of improved plant architecture in the top and middle canopy layers. The optimized light distribution within the canopy can delay leaf senescence, especially for triangle plants. The fraction of incident radiation simulated by the interception model successfully reflected plant architecture traits. Integration of canopy openness is expected to increase the simulation accuracy of the present model. | 9 | Precipitation behavior and properties of extruded 7136 aluminum alloy under different aging treatments显示文摘In this work, the mechanical properties and electrical conductivity of the extruded 7136 aluminum alloy treated by single-stage aging treatment(T6), retrogression and re-aging treatment(RRA), and multiple retrogression and re-aging treatment have been investigated by means of hardness measurements, electrical conductivity tests and tensile tests. The results have shown that the properties of the 7136 alloy such as hardness, tensile strength and electrical conductivity were sensitive to retrogression time(within 90 min). With prolonging the retrogression time, the tensile strength was enhanced first and then decreased, yet the electrical conductivity was continuously increased. The 60 min-treated alloy performed the highest tensile strength(716 MPa), whereas the 90 min-treated alloy possessed the highest electrical conductivity(33.95%IACS). Compared with the T6-treated alloy, the tensile strength and electrical conductivity were improved by 3.3%and 18.9%, respectively. The electrical conductivity showed an obvious increase with repetitious times of the RRA treatment. After 3 RRA60 treatment, a good combination of tensile strength(705 MPa) and electrical conductivity(33.20%IACS) can be obtained. Compared with the T6 condition, the tensile strength and electrical conductivity were improved by 1.7% and 16.3%, respectively. The PhNR was elicited using a white stimuli on a white background..The mean deviation (MD) and pattern standard deviation (PSD) of the visual field were measured using standard automated perimetry (SAP)..Spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT).was used to measure the mean thickness of the retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL). Results:.In the glaucoma group,.as compared to the normal group,.the amplitudes of a-waves,.b-waves and PhNR were significantly smaller (P<0.001), and the PhNR implicit time was significantly longer.(P=0.004). The MD, PSD and mean thickness of the RNFL were significantly correlated with the amplitude of the PhNR (P<0.001). The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUCs) for the amplitudes of a-waves,.b-waves and PhNR were 0.853,.0.830 and 0.918, respectively. When the specificity was ≥95%, the sensitivities were 60.4%, 54.2% and 85.4% respectively. | 17 | A progressive method for the collapse of river representation considering geographical characteristics显示文摘During map generalization,the collapse of geometry,which is also called geometric dimension reduction,is a basic generalization operation.When the map scale decreases,rivers with long,shallow polygonal shapes,usually require their dual-line representation to be collapsed to a single line.This study presents a new algorithm called superpixel river collapse(SURC)to convert dual-line rivers to single-line rivers based on raster data.In this method,dual-line rivers are first segmented at different levels of detail using a superpixel method called simple linear iterative clustering.Then,by connecting the edge midpoints and centre of mass of each superpixel,single-line rivers are preliminarily generated from dual-line rivers.Finally,an interpolation algorithm called polynomial approximation with an exponential kernel is applied to maintain the uniform distribution of the feature points of single-line rivers at different levels of detail(LOD).The presented method can progressively collapse the river during scale transformation to support the LOD representation in a highly sensitive way.The results show that compared with three typical thinning algorithms,the SURC method can generate smooth single-line rivers from dual-line rivers considering different river widths while effectively avoiding burrs and fractured intersections. | Yilang Shen Tinghua Ai Jingzhong Li Lina Huang Wende Li | 2020 | International Journal of Digital Earth2020,13,12: | 3 |

| 19 | Colonization of endophyte Acremonium sp. D212 in Panax notoginseng and rice mediated by auxin and jasmonic acid显示文摘Endophytic fungi can be beneficial to plant growth. However, the molecular mechanisms under-lying colonization of Acremonium spp. remain unclear. In this study, a novel endophytic Acremonium strain was isolated from the buds of Panax notoginseng and named Acremonium sp. D212. The Acremonium sp. D212 could colonize the roots of P. notoginseng, enhance the resistance of P. notoginseng to root rot disease, and promote root growth and saponin bio-synthesis in P. notoginseng. Acremonium sp. D212 could secrete indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) and jasmonic acid (JA), and inoculation with the fungus increased the endogenous levels of IAA and JA in P. noto-ginseng. Colonization of the Acremonium sp. D212 in the roots of the rice line Nipponbare was dependent on the concentration of methyl jasmonate (MeJA) (2–15μmol/L) and 1-naphthalenacetic acid (NAA) (10–20μmol/L). Moreover, the roots of the JA signaling-defective coi1-18 mutant were colonized by Acremonium sp. D212 to a lesser degree than those of the wild-type Nipponbare and miR393b-overexpressing lines, and the colonization was res-cued by MeJA but not by NAA. It suggests that the cross-talk between JA signaling and the auxin biosynthetic pathway plays a crucial role in the colonization of Acremonium sp. | 20 | Heterologous expression of Hp BHY and Cr BKT increases heat tolerance in Physcomitrella patens显示文摘Heat stress can restrict plant growth,development,and crop yield.As essential plant antioxidants,carotenoids play significant roles in plant stress resistance.b-carotene hydroxylase(BHY)and b-carotene ketolase(BKT),which catalyze the conversions of b-carotene to zeaxanthin and b-carotene to canthaxanthin,respectively,are key enzymes in the carotenoid biosynthetic pathway,but little is known about their potential functions in stress resistance.Here,we investigated the roles of b-carotene hydroxylase and b-carotene ketolase during heat stress in Physcomitrella patens through expressing a b-carotene ketolase gene from Chlamydomonas reinhardtii(Cr BKT)and a b-carotene hydroxylase gene from Haematococcus pluvialis(Hp BHY)in the moss P.patens.In transgenic moss expressing these genes,carotenoids content increased(especially lutein content),and heat stress tolerance increased,with reduced leafy tissue necrosis.To investigate the mechanism of this heat stress resistance,we measured various physiological indicators and found a lower malondialdehyde level,higher peroxidase and superoxide dismutase activities,and higher endogenous abscisic acid and salicylate content in the transgenic plants in response to high-temperature stress.These results demonstrate that Cr BKT and Hp BHY increase plant heat stress resistance through the antioxidant and damage repair metabolism,which is related to abscisic acid and salicylate signaling. | Jianfang He Ping Li Heqiang Huo Lina Liu Ting Tang Mingxia He Junchao Huang Li Liu | 2019 | Plant Diversity2019,41,4: | 2 |
