| 1 | Triglyceride levels and apolipoprotein E polymorphism in patients with acute pancreatitis显示文摘BACKGROUND:Hypertriglyceridemia is an unusual cause of acute pancreatitis and sometimes considered to be an epiphenomenon.This study aimed to investigate the clinical and analytical features and the APOE genotypes in patients with acute pancreatitis and severe hypertriglyceridemia.METHODS:We undertook a one-year,prospective study of patients with acute pancreatitis whose first laboratory analysis on admission to the emergency department included measurement of serum triglycerides.The APOE genotype was determined and the patients answered an established questionnaire within the first 24 hours concerning their alcohol consumption,the presence of co-morbidities and any medications being taken.The patients' progression,etiological diagnosis,hospital stay and clinical and radiological severity were all recorded.RESULTS:Hypertriglyceridemia was responsible for 7 of 133 cases of pancreatitis (5%);the remaining cases were of biliary (53%),idiopathic (26%),alcoholic (11%) or other (5%) origin.Compared with these remaining cases,the patients with hypertriglyceridemia were significantly younger,had more relapses,and more often had diabetes mellitus.They usually consumed alcohol or consumed it excessively on the days before admission.Also,the ε4 allele of the APOE gene was more common in this group (P<0.05).CONCLUSION:One of 20 episodes of acute pancreatitis is caused by hypertriglyceridemia and it is linked to genetic (ε4 allele) and comorbid factors such as diabetes and,especially,alcohol consumption. | Radka Ivanova Susana Puerta Alfonso Garrido Ignacio Cueto Ana Ferro María José Ariza Andrés Cobos Pedro González-Santos Pedro Valdivielso | 2012 | Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2012，11，1： | 26 |

| 4 | Effect of femtosecond laser-assisted lens surgery on the optic nerve head and the macula显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the effect of femtosecond laser-assisted lens surgery(FLALS;cataract surgery or refractive lens exchange) on the structure of the optic nerve head and the macula.METHODS: This prospective longitudinal study included healthy eyes undergoing FLALS. Eyes with glaucoma or any other ocular disease that could alter optical coherence tomography results were excluded. Retinal nerve fiber layer(RNFL), Bruch’s membrane opening-minimum rim width(BMO-MRW) and macular thickness(MT) were measured preoperatively, 1 and 6 mo after surgery using spectral-domain optical coherence tomography(SD-OCT). Changes between preoperative and postoperative values were evaluated.RESULTS: A total of 87 eyes of 46 patients were included in this study. Preoperative RNFL, BMO-MRW and MT in microns(μm) were 100.77±10.39, 330.31±49.99 and 276.30±33.39, respectively. Postoperative RNFL, BMO-MRW and MT were 104.74±11.55, 348.32±54.05 and 279.83±22.65 1 mo after surgery and 102.93±11.17, 343.11±53.4 and 278.90±22.19 6 mo after surgery, respectively;which equals an increase of 3.93%, 5.45% and 1.27%,respectively, 1 mo after surgery, and 2.14%, 3.87% and 0.94% 6 mo after surgery. The differences between the preoperative and the postoperative RNFL and BMO-MRW values were statistically significant(P<0.001). Regarding MT values, there were not statistically significant differences(P=0.26).CONCLUSION: Our study suggests that FLALS does not have a negative impact on the structural status of the optic nerve head in healthy eyes, assessed by SD-OCT. | 5 | Multimodality functional imaging using DW-MRI and 18F-FDG-PET/CT during radiation therapy for human papillomavirus negative head and neck squamous cell carcinoma: Meixoeiro Hospital of Vigo Experience显示文摘AIM To noninvasively investigate tumor cellularity measured using diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging(DW-MRI) and glucose metabolism measured by 18 Flabeled fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography(18F-FDG-PET/CT) during radiation therapy(RT) for human papillomavirus negative(HPV-) head and neck squamous cell carcinoma(HNSCC).METHODS In this prospective study, 6 HPV- HNSCC patients underwent a total of 34 multimodality imaging examinations(DW-MRI at 1.5 T Philips MRI scanner [(n = 24) pre-, during-(2-3 wk), and post-treatment(Tx), and 18F-FDG PET/CT pre- and post-Tx(n = 10)]. All patients received RT. Monoexponential modeling of the DW-MRI data yielded the imaging metric apparent diffusion coefficient(ADC) and the mean of standardized uptake value(SUV) was measured from 18F-FDG PET uptake. All patients had a clinical follow-up as the standard of care and survival status was documented at 1 year.RESULTS There was a strong negative correlation between the mean of pretreatment ADC(ρ =-0.67, P = 0.01) and the pretreatment 18F-FDG PET SUV. The percentage(%) change in delta(?)
