Impact of temperature on yield and related traits in cotton genotypes显示文摘Cotton growth and development is influenced by various uncontrollable environmental conditions. Temperature variations in the field can be created by planting at different dates. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the effect of planting dates and thermal temperatures(growing degree days) on yield of 4 cotton genotypes, viz., CIM-598, CIM-599, CIM-602 and Ali Akbar-703. Plants were subjected to 6 planting dates during 2013 and 2014 in a trial conducted in randomized complete block design with four replications. For boll number, boll weight and seed cotton yield, cotton genotypes exhibited significant differences, CIM-599 produced the highest seed cotton yield of 2 062 kg ha^(–1) on account of maximum boll number and boll weight. The highest seed cotton yield was recorded in planting dates from 15 th April to 1st May whereas early and delayed planting reduced the yield due to less accumulation of heat units. Regression analysis revealed that increase of one unit(15 days) from early to optimum date(15th March to 15 th April) increased yield by 93.58 kg ha^(–1). Delay in planting also decreased the seed cotton yield with the same ratio. Thus it is concluded that cotton must be sown from 15 th April to 1st May to have good productivity in this kind of environment. | Kalim Ullah Niamatullah Khan Zahid Usman Rehmat Ullah Fazal Yazdan Saleem Syed Asif Imran Shah Muhammad Salman | 2016 | Journal of Integrative Agriculture2016,15,3: | 1

Countrywide Survey for MERS-Coronavirus Antibodies in Dromedaries and Humans in Pakistan显示文摘Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV) is a zoonotic pathogen capable of causing severe respiratory disease in humans. Although dromedary camels are considered as a major reservoir host, the MERS-CoV infection dynamics in camels are not fully understood. Through surveillance in Pakistan, nasal (n = 776) and serum (n = 1050)samples were collected from camels between November 2015 and February 2018. Samples were collected from animal markets, free-roaming herds and abattoirs. An in-house ELISA was developed to detect IgG against MERS-CoV. A total of 794 camels were found seropositive for MERS-CoV. Prevalence increased with the age and the highest seroprevalence was recorded in camels aged [ 10 years (81.37%) followed by those aged 3.1–10 years (78.65%) and B 3 years (58.19%).Higher prevalence was observed in female (78.13%) as compared to male (70.70%). Of the camel nasal swabs, 22 were found to be positive by RT-qPCR though with high Ct values. Moreover, 2,409 human serum samples were also collected from four provinces of Pakistan during 2016–2017. Among the sampled population, 840 humans were camel herders.Although we found a high rate of MERS-CoV antibody positive dromedaries (75.62%) in Pakistan, no neutralizing antibodies were detected in humans with and without contact to camels. | Ali Zohaib Muhammad Saqib Muhammad Ammar Athar Jing Chen Awais-ur-Rahman Sial Saeed Khan Zeeshan Taj Halima Sadia Usman Tahir Muhammad Haleem Tayyab Muhammad Asif Qureshi Muhammad Khalid Mansoor Muhammad Ahsan Naeem Bing-Jie Hu Bilal Ahmed Khan Ikram Din Ujjan Bei Li Wei Zhang Yun Luo Yan Zhu Cecilia Waruhiu Iahtasham Khan Xing-Lou Yang Muhammad Sohail Sajid Victor Max Corman Bing Yan Zheng-Li Shi | 2018 | Virologica Sinica2018,33,5: | 1

Novel Double-Damped Tuned AC Filters in HVDC Systems显示文摘This paper presents a performance analysis of novel doubledampedtuned alternating current (AC) filters in high voltage direct current(HVDC) systems. The proposed double-damped tuned AC filters offer theadvantages of improved performance of HVDC systems in terms of betterpower quality, high power factor, and lower total harmonic distortion (THD).The system under analysis consists of an 878 km long HVDC transmissionline connecting converter stations at Matiari and Lahore, two major cities inPakistan. The main focus of this research is to design a novel AC filter usingthe equivalent impedance method of two single-tuned and double-dampedtuned AC filters. Additionally, the impact of the damping resistor on the ACchannel is examined. TheTHDof theHVDCsystem with and without currentAC filters was also compared in this research and a double-damped tuned ACfilter was proposed. The results of the simulation represent that the proposeddouble-damped tuned AC filter is far smaller in size, offers better powerquality, and has a much lower THD compared to the AC filters currently inplace in the converter station. The simulation analysis was carried out utilizingpower systems computer-aided design (PSCAD) software. | Rana Shaheer Mehmood Asif Hussain Usman Ali Muhammad Tariq Mahmood | 2023 | Computers, Materials & Continua2023,,4: | 0
Evaluation of cotton germplasm for morphological and biochemical host plant UPdates resistance traits against sucking insect pests complex显示文摘Background:Sucking insect pests cause severe damage to cotton crop production. The development of insect resistant cotton cultivars is one of the most effective measures in curtailing the yield losses.Considering the role of morphological and biochemical host plant resista nee(HPR)traits in plant defense,12 cotton genotypes/varieties were evaluated for leaf area, leaf glanding, total soluble sugars, total soluble proteins, total phenolics, tannin and total flavonoids against fluctuating populations of whitefly, thrips and jassid under field conditions. Results:The population of these insects fluctuated during the growing seas on and remained above threshold level(whitefly>5,thrips>(8-10)f or jassid>1 per leaf)during late June and early July.Strong and negative association of whitefly(r=-0.825)and jassid(r=-0.929)with seed cotton yield was observed.Mean population of insects were the highest in Glandless-1 followed by NIA-82 and NIA-M30.NIAB-Kiran followed by NI AB-878 and Sadori were the most resistant, with the mean population of 1.41,1.60,1.66(whitefly);2.24,232,2.53(thrips)and 037,0.31,036(jassid),respectively.The resistant variety NIAB-Kiran showed less soluble sugars(8.54 mg.g^(-1)),soluble proteins(27.11 mg.g^(-1))and more phenolic(36.56 mg.g^(-1))and flavonoids(13.10mg.g^(-1))as compared with the susceptible check Glandless-1.Moreover,all insect populations were positively correlated with total soluble sugars and proteins.Whitefly populations exhibited negative response to leaf gossypol glands, total phenolics, tannins and flavonoids. The thrips and jassid populations had a significant and negative correlation with these four biochemical HPR traits. Conclusion:The ide ntified resistant resources and HPR traits can be deployed against sucking in sect pests'complex in future breeding programs of developing insect resistant cotton varieties. | RIZWAN Muhammad ABRO Saifullah ASIF Muhammad Usman HAMEED Amjad MAH BOOB Wajid DEHO Zaheer Ahmed SIAL Mahboob Ali | 2021 | Journal of Cotton Research2021,4,3: | 0
Facile synthesis of ironenickelecobalt ternary oxide(FNCO)mesoporous nanowires as electrode material for supercapacitor application显示文摘Transition Metal Oxides have drawn significant attention due to their reversible chemical redox reaction and long-life stability.Inexorable agglomeration and shrinkage/expansion of transition metal oxides in the nanosize regime have a noticeable effect on their electrochemical properties. Here in this work, mesoporous nanowires(NWs)with a typical composition of iron-nickel-cobalt ternary oxide(FNCO)are synthesized using a simple, facile and cost-effective hydrothermal process followed by furnace annealing. These NWs are then extensively investigated as an electrode material for supercapacitor application. To compare the electrochemical properties, nanowires of nickel-cobalt oxide(NCO),iron-cobalt oxide(FCO)and cobalt oxide(CO)were also produced by following the same protocol. The FNCO NWs are found to overcome the shortcomings in the electrochemical energy storage devices by exhibiting higher values of specific capacitance(2197 Fg^(-1))and energy density(109 Whkg^(-1))at 1 Ag^(-1) current rate. Moreover, the FNCO NWs also showed a cyclic charge/discharge stability of 96%even up to 20,000 cycles.Furthermore,a FNCO//graphene asymmetric device, fabricated with FNCO NWs and graphene as positive and negative electrodes, respectively, which exhibit high energy density(47 Whkg^(-1)),power density(375 Wkg^(-1))and excellent capacitance retention(86%)after 15,000 cycles. | Muhammad Usman Muhammad Tayyab Ahsan Sofia Javed Zeeshan Ali Yiqiang Zhan Irfan Ahmed Sajid Butt Mohammad Islam Asif Mahmood M.Aftab Akram | 2022 | Journal of Materiomics2022,8,1: | 0
Human Gait Recognition:A Deep Learning and Best Feature Selection Framework显示文摘Background—Human Gait Recognition(HGR)is an approach based on biometric and is being widely used for surveillance.HGR is adopted by researchers for the past several decades.Several factors are there that affect the system performance such as the walking variation due to clothes,a person carrying some luggage, variations in the view angle.Proposed—In this work,a new method is introduced to overcome different problems of HGR.A hybrid method is proposed or efficient HGR using deep learning and selection of best features.Four major steps are involved in this work-preprocessing of the video frames, manipulation of the pre-trained CNN model VGG-16 for the computation of the features, removing redundant features extracted from the CNN model, and classification. In the reduction of irrelevant features Principal Score and Kurtosis based approach is proposed named PSbK.After that, the features of PSbK are fused in one materix. Finally, this fused vector is fed to the One against All Multi Support Vector Machine(OAMSVM)classifier for the final results. Results—The system is evaluated by utilizing the CASIA B database and six angles 00◦,18◦,36◦,54◦,72◦,and 90◦are used and attained the accuracy of 95.80%,96.0%,95.90%,96.20%,95.60%,and 95.50%,respectively.Conclusion—The comparison with recent methods show the proposed method work better. | Asif Mehmood Muhammad Attique Khan Usman Tariq Chang-Won Jeong Yunyoung Nam Reham R.Mostafa Amira ElZeiny | 2022 | Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,1: | 0
Forkhead box P3 and indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase co-expression in Pakistani triple negative breast cancer patients显示文摘BACKGROUND Forkhead box P3(FOXP3)is a specific marker for immunosuppressive regulatory T(T-reg)cells.T-regs and an immunosuppressive enzyme, indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase(IDO),are associated with advanced disease in cancer.AIM To evaluate the co-expression of FOXP3 and IDO in triple negative breast cancer(TNBC)with respect to hormone-positive breast cancer patients from Pakistan.METHODS Immunohistochemistry was performed to analyze the expression of FOXP3,IDO,estrogen receptor, progesterone receptor, and human epidermal growth factor receptor on tissues of breast cancer patients(n=100):Hormone-positive breast cancer(n=51)and TNBC(n=49).A total of 100 patients were characterized as FOXP3 negative vs positive and further categorized based on low, medium, and high IDO expression score.Univariate and multivariate logistic regression models were used.RESULTS Out of 100 breast tumors,25%expressed FOXP3 positive T-regs.A significant coexpression of FOXP3 and IDO was observed among patients with TNBC(P=0.01)compared to those with hormone-positive breast cancer. Two variables were identified as significant independent risk factors for FOXP3 positive:IDO expression high(adjusted odds ratio(AOR)5.90;95%confidence interval(CI):1.22-28.64;P=0.03)and TNBC(AOR 2.80;95%CI:0.96-7.95;P=0.05).CONCLUSION Our data showed that FOXP3 positive cells might be associated with high expression of IDO in TNBC patients.FOXP3 and IDO co-expression may also suggest its involvement in disease, and evaluation of FOXP3 and IDO expression in TNBC patients may offer a new therapeutic option. | Kashif Asghar Asif Loya Iftikhar Ali Rana Muhammad Abu Bakar Asim Farooq Muhammad Tahseen Muhammad Ishaq Iqra Masood Muhammad Usman Rashid | 2020 | World Journal of Clinical Oncology2020,11,12: | 0
