2Effects of interferon-alpha on expression of hepatic stellate cell and transforming growth factor-pi and a-smooth muscle actin in rats with hepatic fibrosis显示文摘AIM: To investigate the effect of interferon-α (IFN-α) onpreventing or reversing hepatic fibrosis in rat experimental model induced by CCl4.METHODS: One hundred and ten Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into five groups: group A (normal controls, n = 18), group B (fibrotic model controls, n = 22), group C (IFN-α prevention, n = 22) initially treated with intramuscular injection of IFN-α in saline daily at the doses of 1×105 U for 6 wk, group D (IFN-α treatment, n = 24) treated with intra-muscular injection of IFN-α in saline daily atthe doses of 1×105 U for 6 wk after the first 6 wk, group E (0.9% sodium chloride treatment control, n = 24) treated with intra-muscular injection of 0.01 mL/kg daily for 6 wk after the first 6 wk. At the end of the experiment, all rats of each group were killed. Samples of the liver obtained by biopsy were subjected to histological, immunohistochemicaland electron microscopic studies for the expressions of transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF- β1) and α-smoothmuscle actin (α-SMA).RESULTS: The expressions of TGF-β1, the number of activated hepatic stellate cells and α-SMA in hepatic tissue of group C were significantly less than those of group B (P<0.01). 3Genomic survey of bZIP transcription factor genes related to tanshinone biosynthesis in Salvia miltiorrhiza显示文摘Tanshinones are a class of bioactive components in the traditional Chinese medicine Salvia miltiorrhiza, and their biosynthesis and regulation have been widely studied. Current studies show that basic leucine zipper(bZIP) proteins regulate plant secondary metabolism, growth and developmental processes. However, the b ZIP transcription factors involved in tanshinone biosynthesis are unknown.Here, we conducted the first genome-wide survey of the b ZIP gene family and analyzed the phylogeny,gene structure, additional conserved motifs and alternative splicing events in S. miltiorrhiza. A total of 70 Smb ZIP transcription factors were identified and categorized into 11 subgroups based on their phylogenetic relationships with those in Arabidopsis. Moreover, seventeen Smb ZIP genes underwent alternative splicing events. According to the transcriptomic data, the Smb ZIP genes that were highly expressed in the Danshen root and periderm were selected. Based on the prediction of b ZIP binding sites in the promoters and the co-expression analysis and co-induction patterns in response to Ag^+ treatment via quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction(qRT-PCR), we concluded that Smb ZIP7 and Smb ZIP20 potentially participate in the regulation of tanshinone biosynthesis. 4Effects of estradiol on liver estrogen receptor-α and its mRNA expression in hepatic fibrosis in rats显示文摘AIM:Estradiol treatment regulates estrogen receptor (ER) level in normal rat liver.However,little information is available concerning the role of estrogen in regulating liver ER in hepatic fibrosis in rats.The present study was conducted to determine whether estradiol treatment in CCl4-induced liver fibrosis of female and ovariectomized rats altered liver ERα and its mRNA expression,and to investigate the possible mechanisms.METHODS:Seventy female rats were divided into seven groups with ten rats in each. The ovariectomy groups were initiated with ovariectomies and the sham operation groups were initiated with just sham operations.The CCl4 toxic fibrosis groups received 400mL/L CCI4 subcutaneously at a dose of 2 mL/kg twice weekly.Estrogen groups were treated subcutaneously with estradiol 1mg/kg, the normal control group and an ovariectomy group received injection of peanut oil vehicle twice weekly.At the end of 8 weeks,all the rats were killed to detect their serum and hepatic indicators,their hepatic collagen content, and liver ER and ER mRNA expression.RESULTS: Estradiol treatment in both ovariectomy and sham ovariectomy groups reduced liver levels of ALT (from 658±220nkat/L to 311±146nkat/L and 540±252nkat/L to 314±163nkat/L,P<0.05) and AST (from 697±240nkat/L to 321±121nkat/L and 631±268nkat/L to 302±153nkat/L,P<0.05),increased serum nitric oxide (NO) level (from 53.7±17.1μmol/L to 93.3±4.2μmol/L and 55.3±3.1μmol/Lto 87.5±23.6μmol/L, P<0.05) and hepatic nitric oxide synthase (NOS) activity (from 1.73±0.71KU/g to 2.49±1.20KU/g and 1.65±0.46KU/g to 2.68±1.17KU/g, P<0.05),diminished the accumulation of hepatic collagen,decreased centrolobular necrotic areas as well as the inflammatory reaction in rats subjected to CCl4. The positive signal of ER and ER mRNA distributed in parenchymal and non-parenchymal hepatic cells,especially near the hepatic centrolobular and periportal areas.Ovariectomy decreased ER level (from 10.2±3.2 to 4.3±1.3) and ER mRNA expression (from 12.8±2.1 to 10.9±1.3) significantly (P<0.05). 5Neuroglobin expression in rats after traumatic brain injury显示文摘In this study,we used a rat model of severe closed traumatic brain injury to explore the relationship between neuroglobin,brain injury and neuronal apoptosis.Real-time PCR showed that neuroglobin mRNA expression rapidly increased in the rat cerebral cortex,and peaked at 30 minutes and 48 hours following traumatic brain injury.Immunohistochemical staining demonstrated that neu-roglobin expression increased and remained high 2 hours to 5 days following injury.The rate of in-crease in the apoptosis-related Bax/Bcl-2 ratio greatly decreased between 30 minutes and 1 hour as well as between 48 and 72 hours post injury.Expression of neuroglobin and the anti-apoptotic factor Bcl-2 greatly increased,while that of the proapoptotic factor decreased,in the cerebral cortex post severe closed traumatic brain injury.It suggests that neuroglobin might protect neurons from apoptosis after traumatic injury by regulating Bax/Bcl-2 pathway.Xin Lin Min Li Aijia Shang Yazhuo HU Xiao Yang Ling Ye Suyan Bian ZhongfengWang Dingbiao Zhou 2012Neural Regeneration Research2012,7,25:4
6Y_(2)O_(3)modification on nickel-rich LiNi_(0.8)Co_(0.1)Mn_(0.1)O_(2)with improved electrochemical performance in lithium-ion batteries显示文摘Doping and coating are frequently employed for the improvement of the properties of Ni-rich NCM materials.In this work,we prepared stable LiNi_(0.8)Co_(0.1)Mn_(0.1)O_(2)(NCM811)materials modified withY_(2)O_(3)via a wet chemical method.In order to investigate the action mechanism ofY_(2)O_(3)on NCM811,we analyzed the micro structures using X-ray diffraction(XRD),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),and transmission electron microscopy(TEM).Also,to study the electrochemical performances,we conducted a charge/discharge test and cyclic voltammetry.Our results show thatY_(2)O_(3)modified NCM811 materials have good thermal stability,and proper content ofY_(2)O_(3)can effectively prevent the materials from damaging and significantly improve the electrochemical properties of the materials.Particularly,1%Y2 O3 modified NCM811 material show much better cycling performance than other samples.During cycling at 1.0 C the 1%Y2 O3 modified NCM811 shows capacity retention of 90.1%after 100 cycles,which is higher than 69.4%for pristine NMC811.We examined the microstructures of the materials before and after circulation.Using the SEM results,we conclude that structural changes are among the key factors that lead to the degradation of the electrochemical properties of materials.Rui He Xue Bai Aijia Wei Lihui Zhang Peng Liu Zhenfa Liu 2022Journal of Rare Earths2022,40,2:2

11Chronic corticosterone disrupts the circadian rhythm of CRH expression and m^(6)A RNA methylation in the chicken hypothalamus显示文摘Background:Corticotropin-releasing hormone(CRH),the major secretagogue of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal(HPA)axis,is intricately intertwined with the clock genes to regulate the circadian rhythm of various body functions.N6-methyladenosine(m^(6)A)RNA methylation is involved in the regulation of circadian rhythm,yet it remains unknown whether CRH expression and m^(6)A modification oscillate with the clock genes in chicken hypothalamus and how the circadian rhythms change under chronic stress.Results:Chronic exposure to corticosterone(CORT)eliminated the diurnal patterns of plasma CORT and melatonin levels in the chicken.The circadian rhythms of clock genes in hippocampus,hypothalamus and pituitary are all disturbed to different extent in CORT-treated chickens.The most striking changes occur in hypothalamus in which the diurnal fluctuation of CRH mRNA is flattened,together with mRNA of other feeding-related neuropeptides.Interestingly,hypothalamic m^(6)A level oscillates in an opposite pattern to CRH mRNA,with lowestm^(6)A level after midnight(ZT18)corresponding to the peak of CRH mRNA before dawn(ZT22).CORT diminished the circadian rhythm of m^(6)A methylation with significantly increased level at night.Further site-specific m^(6)A analysis on 3’UTR of CRH mRNA indicates that higher m^(6)A on 3’UTR of CRH mRNA coincides with lower CRH mRNA at night(ZT18 and ZT22).Conclusions:Our results indicate that chronic stress disrupts the circadian rhythms of CRH expression in hypothalamus,leading to dysfunction of HPA axis in the chicken.RNA m^(6)A modification is involved in the regulation of circadian rhythms in chicken hypothalamus under both basal and chronic stress conditions.Yang Yang Wanwan Han Aijia Zhang Mindie Zhao Wei Cong Yimin Jia Deyun Wang Ruqian Zhao 2022Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2022,13,4:0

13Acupuncture versus Western Medicine Drugs (Antidepressant) to Treat Depression显示文摘The aim of the study is to assess the beneficial effects of acupuncture compared with Western medicine in treating patientswith depression.Depression is a serious psychiatric illness that involves symptoms such as depressed or sad mood,loss ofinterest or pleasure in activities,changes in weight,difficult sleep or oversleeping,energy loss,feelings of worthlessness,psychomotorchanges,and thoughts of death or suicide.Acupuncture and Western medicine have been widely used to treat the patient with depression.The following electronic databases were searched:The Cochrane Central Register for Controlled Trials(Central),MEDLINE,EMBASE,AMED,PsycINFO,and PUBMED.The summary of this report was evaluated by using the Preferred Reporting Itemsfor Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis Checklist.Sixty-four journals on acupuncture,Western medicine drugs(antidepressant),and containing both in treating depression were identified and included in this review.In term of Western medicine,antidepressant may helpthe ego function in short term,and for long-term using,it may cause the patient to become addictive toward the drug.Acupuncture is relativelysafe to use and proven significantly effective to treat the depression and less side effect for long term used by the patient.Currentevidence from this summary literature review shows that acupuncture and Western medicine(antidepressant)drugs can treat depression.However,acupuncture therapies almost give none of side effect compared to antidepressant,and every patient with depression can try acupuncture notexcluding the pregnant woman.Anggaraeni Krta Zhihai Hu Yi Wang Wen Wang Rumeng Wang Aijia Zhang 2019Chinese Medicine and Culture2019,2,3:0
14Does airway pressure release ventilation offer new hope for treating acute respiratory distress syndrome?显示文摘Mechanical ventilation(MV)is an essential life support method for patients with acute respiratory distress syn-drome(ARDS),which is one of the most common critical illnesses with high mortality in the intensive care unit(ICU).A lung-protective ventilation strategy based on low tidal volume(LTV)has been recommended since a few years;however,as this did not result in a significant decrease of ARDS-related mortality,a more optimal venti-lation mode was required.Airway pressure release ventilation(APRV)is an old method defined as a continuous positive airway pressure(CPAP)with a brief intermittent release phase based on the open lung concept;it also perfectly fits the ARDS treatment principle.Despite this,APRV has not been widely used in the past,rather only as a rescue measure for ARDS patients who are difficult to oxygenate.Over recent years,with an increased under-standing of the pathophysiology of ARDS,APRV has been reproposed to improve patient prognosis.Nevertheless,this mode is still not routinely used in ARDS patients given its vague definition and complexity.Consequently,in this paper,we summarize the studies that used APRV in ARDS,including adults,children,and animals,to illustrate the settings of parameters,effectiveness in the population,safety(especially in children),incidence,and mechanism of ventilator-induced lung injury(VILI)and effects on extrapulmonary organs.Finally,we found that APRV is likely associated with improvement in ARDS outcomes,and does not increase injury to the lungs and other organs,thereby indicating that personalized APRV settings may be the new hope for ARDS treatment.Jiangli Cheng Aijia Ma Meiling Dong Yongfang Zhou Bo Wang Yang Xue Peng Wang Jing Yang Yan Kang 2022Journal of Intensive Medicine2022,2,4:0
15Clinical efficacy and safety of linezolid in intensive care unit patients显示文摘Background:To characterize the population of critically ill patients and infections treated with linezolid in the intensive care unit(ICU),and to evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of linezolid therapy.Methods::This multi-center,observational,real-world study was conducted across 52 hospitals between June 9,2018,and December 28,2019.Patients who met the following inclusion criteria were included:(1)admitted to the ICU,(2)of any age group,and(3)having a clinical or laboratory diagnosis of a Gram-positive bacterial infection.Clinical efficacy was categorized as success(cured or improved),failed,or non-evaluable.Adverse events and serious adverse events were recorded during treatment.Results::A total of 366 ICU patients who met the inclusion criteria were evaluated.Linezolid was used as second-and first-line treatment in 232(63.4%)and 134(36.6%)patients,respectively.The most common isolated strain was Staphylococcus aureus(methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus:n=37/119,31.1%;methicillin-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus:n=15/119,12.6%);this was followed by Enterococci(vancomycin-resistant Enterococci:n=8/119,6.7%;vancomycin-susceptible Enterococci:n=11/119,9.2%)and Streptococcus pneumoniae(multidrug-resistant:n=4/119,3.4%;non-multidrug resistant:n=2/119,1.7%).The main infection sites where pathogens were detected included the lung(n=216/366,59.6%),skin and soft tissue(n=104/366,28.4%),and blood(n=50/366,13.7%).Clinical success was achieved in 301(82.2%)patients;34(9.3%)were cured and 267(73.0%)improved;treatment failure and non-evaluable outcomes were observed in 29(7.9%)in 36(9.8%)patients,respectively.Linezolid-related adverse events were reported in 8(2.2%)patients.No treatment-related serious adverse events were reported.Conclusions::Based on real-world results,linezolid was found to be effective and safe in the treatment of Gram-positive bacterial infections in critically ill patients.Aijia Ma Meiling Dong Jiangli Cheng Xuelian Liao Wei Dong Chang Liu Chenggong Hu Jing Yang Yan Kang 2023Journal of Intensive Medicine2023,3,1:0
16HCl-Induced Hg^(0)Transformation over CuMn_(2)O_(4)Sorbent显示文摘CuMn_(2)O_(4)spinel has been regarded as a highly efficient sorbent for Hg^(0)capture from flue gas.The regenerability and recyclability of CuMn_(2)O_(4)sorbent are mainly associated with the mercury speciation adsorbed on its surface.However,the effect mechanism of HCl on Hg^(0)transformation over CuMn_(2)O_(4)sorbent is still elusive.Experiments were conducted to understand the effect of HCl on Hg^(0)transformation over CuMn_(2)O_(4)sorbent.The results indicate thatCuMn_(2)O_(4)sorbent is a mesoporousmaterial and possesses a good thermal stability.CuMn_(2)O_(4)shows>95%Hg^(0)removal efficiency in a wide temperature window of 50-350℃.The favorable electron-transfer environment caused by the mixed valence states of Cu and Mn cations is responsible for the excellent Hg^(0)removal performance of CuMn_(2)O_(4)sorbent.CuMn_(2)O_(4)shows a higherHg^(0)adsorption capacity of 4774.57μg/g.Hg^(0)adsorption process over CuMn_(2)O_(4)sorbent can bewell described by the developed kinetic model.Hg^(0)removal efficiency of CuMn_(2)O_(4)sorbent does not depend on the presence of HCl.Mercury species adsorbed on the CuMn_(2)O_(4)sorbent in the presence of HCl mainly exist in the forms of Hg^(O)and HgCl_(2)O_(8)·H_(2)O.HCl shows a significant effect on mercury speciation over CuMn_(2)O_(4)sorbent.Most of Hg^(O)species will be transformed into HgCl_(2)O_(8)·H_(2)O in the presence of HCl.Aijia Zhang Yingju Yang Jing Liu Junyan Ding 2022Energy Engineering2022,119,2:0
17Sodium butyrate alleviates fructose-induced non-alcoholic fatty liver disease by remodeling gut microbiota to promoteγ-amino butyric acid production显示文摘Sodium butyrate(NaB)can regulate lipid metabolism and inhibit hepatic steatosis.This study aimed to investigate whether NaB can alleviate fructose-induced hepat ic steatosis via remodeling the gut microbiota and evaluate the anti-fatty liver mechanisms.The results showed that NaB and NaB-remodeled gut microbiota significantly alleviated fructose-induced hepatic steatosis and increased plasma uric acid and fructose levels.Furthermore,both NaB and NaB-remodeled gut microbiota increased the abundance of Lactobacillus and altered the levels of plasma amino acids(upregulating gamma-amino butyric acid(GABA)and downregulating L-glutamic acid and L-arginine)in fructose-exposed mice.The correlation analysis showed that GABA levels positively correlated with Lactobacillus abundance,and increased GABA levels might promote the reduction of the hepatic triglyceride content.Further studies confirmed that GABA significantly reduced lipid deposition in mouse hepatocytes induced via fructose pretreatment in vitro.These findings suggested that NaB could ameliorate fructose-induced hepatic steatosis by regulating gut microbiota.Qu Chen Lei Wu Aijia Zhang Chen Wu Liuping Cai Yingping Xiao Yingdong Ni 2024Food Science and Human Wellness2024,13,2:0
18Annexin A1 in the nervous and ocular systems显示文摘The therapeutic potential of Annexin A1,an important member of the Annexin superfamily,has become evident in results of experiments with multiple human systems and animal models.The anti-inflammatory and pro-resolving effects of Annexin A1 are characteristic of pathologies involving the nervous system.In this review,we initially describe the expression sites of Annexin A1,then outline the mechanisms by which Annexin A1 maintains the neurological homeostasis through either formyl peptide receptor 2 or other molecular approaches;and,finally,we discuss the neuroregenerative potential qualities of Annexin A1.The eye and the nervous system are anatomically and functionally connected,but the association between visual system pathogenesis,especially in the retina,and Annexin A1 alterations has not been well summarized.Therefore,we explain the beneficial effects of Annexin A1 for ocular diseases,especially for retinal diseases and glaucoma on the basis of published findings,and we explore present and future delivery strategies for Annexin A1 to the retina.Aijia Wang Hong Zhang Xing Li Yin Zhao 2024Neural Regeneration Research2024,19,3:0
19Traumatic mating causes strict monandry in a wolf spider显示文摘DEAR EDITOR,We identified strict monandry in a wandering wolf spider species(Pardosa pseudoannulata) and revealed the underlying mechanisms of this mating structure. Evidence indicated that males damaged the inner walls of the female genital tract with the sharp part of their intromittent organ during insemination. 20Liquiritigenin promotes osteogenic differentiation and prevents bone loss via inducing auto-lysosomal degradation and inhibiting apoptosis显示文摘Osteoporosis(OP)is a debilitating skeletal abnormality involving bone remodeling and bone cell homeostasis characterized by decreased bone strength and high fracture risk.A novel therapeutic intervention for OP by manipulating cellular autophagy-apoptosis processes to promote skeletal homeostasis is presented.Protective effects of the naturally occurring plant extract Liquiritigenin(LG)were demonstrated in an ovariectomy(OvX)-OP mouse model and preosteoblast MC3T3-E1 cells.Micro-CT and histological staining assessments of skeletal phenotype were applied alongside detection of autophagy activity in osteocytes and MC3T3-E1 cells by transmission electron microscopy(TEM).The effects of LG on chloroquine(CQ)-and the apoptosis-inducing TS-treated osteogenic differentiations and status of lysosomes within MC3T3-E1 cells were analyzed by Neutral red,Alizarin red S and alkaline phosphatase(ALP)staining and Western blot assays.Treatment with LG prevented bone loss,increased osteogenic differentiation in vivo and in vitro,and inhibited osteoclast formation to some extent.TEM analyses revealed that LG can improve auto-lysosomal degradation within osteocytes from OVX mice and MC3T3-E1 cells.The abnormal status of lysosomes associated with CQ and TS treatments was notably alleviated by LG which also reduced levels of apoptosis-induced inhibition of osteogenic differentiation and averted abnormal osteogenic differentiation as a consequence of a blockage in autolysosome degradation.Overall,LG stimulates bone growth in Oovx mice through increased osteogenic differentiation and regulation of autophagyapoptosis mechanisms,presenting an auspicious natural therapy for Op.Yu Qiu Yueyang Zhao Zhimin Long Aijia Song Peng Huang Kejian Wang Ling Xu David Paul Molloy Guiqiong He 2023Genes & Diseases2023,10,1:0
