1Serum uric acid and risk of incident diabetes in middle-aged and elderly Chinese adults: prospective cohort study显示文摘The association between serum uric acid and the risk of incident diabetes in Chinese adults remains unknown.This study aimed to investigate this association in a community-dwelling population aged≥40 years in Shanghai,China.Oral glucose tole3rance test was conducted during baseline and follow-up visits.Relative risk regression was utilized to examine the associations between baseline gender-specific serum uric acid levels and incident diabetes risk.A total of 613(10.3%)incident diabetes cases were identified during the follow-up visit after 4.5 years.Fasting plasma glucose,postload glucose,and glycated hemoglobin A1c during the follow-up visit progressively increased across the sex-specific quartiles of serum uric acid(all Ps<0.05).The incidence rate of diabetes increased across the quartiles of serum uric acid(7.43%,8.77%,11.47%,and 13.43%).Multivariate adjusted regression analysis revealed that individuals in the highest quartile had 1.36-fold increased risk of diabetes compared with those in the lowest quartile of serum uric acid(odds ratio(95%confidence interval)=1.36(1.06−1.73)).Stratified analysis indicated that the association was only observed in women.Accordingly,serum uric acid was associated with the increased risk of incident diabetes among middle-aged and elderly Chinese women.Di Cheng Chunyan Hu Rui Du Hongyan Qi Lin Lin Xueyan Wu Lina Ma Kui Peng Mian Li Min Xu Yu Xu Yufang Bi Weiqing Wang Yuhong Chen Jieli Lu 2020Frontiers of Medicine2020,14,6:3
2Boron doped graphdiyne:A metal-free peroxidase mimetic nanozyme for antibacterial application显示文摘The abuse of conventional antibiotics leads to increasing bacterial resistance.Nanozyme is a new kind of ultra-efficient and safe nanomaterial with intrinsic enzyme-like activities,showing remarkable potential as a next generation nanobactericide.Graphdiyne(GDY)is a burgeoning two-dimensional(2D)carbon allotrope with intriguing physicochemical properties,holding a great promise as a metal-free nanozyme.In this study,a boron doped GDY nanosheet(B-GDY)was constructed to simulate the performance of peroxidase(POD).By promoting the decomposition of H_(2)O_(2) to produce reactive oxygen species(ROS),the bactericidal efficacies against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria were substantially enhanced attributed to the extremely high catalytic activity of B-GDY.In-depth density functional theory(DFT)calculations illuminate that doping of boron can introduce more active B-defect sites as well as lower Gibbs free energy during the H_(2)O_(2) decomposition reaction.Notably,B-GDY contributes to significant wound healing and excellent biocompatibility,reducing the biological burden.The design of this nanozyme opens a new avenue for the development of alternative antibiotics.Xuelong Bi Qiang Bai Lina Wang Fanglin Du Manhong Liu William W.Yu Siheng Li Jiaqiang Li Zhiling Zhu Ning Sui Jin Zhang 2022Nano Research2022,15,2:2

4Multiple Center Research on Relationship Between Screening Quality and Detection of Cervical Cancer—Six Provinces,China,June–December 2021显示文摘The coverage and quality of screening are essential for reducing the incidence of cervical precancers and cervical cancer.This multicenter study aimed to investigate the relationship between screening quality and the detection of cervical precancers and cervical cancer.The study was conducted from June to December 2021 in six hospitals across six provinces.The 2,945 participants were non-pregnant women who underwent colposcopy examinations.The average age of participants was 40.9±11.5 years old.Only 6.9%of participants had received human papillomavirus(HPV)vaccination.A total of 92.6%of participants had abnormal cervical screening results.Of the participants,577 had high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions(HSIL)or worse(≥HSIL),with a detection rate of 19.6%.Univariate analysis indicated that a lack of cervical cancer screening history in the past five years,as well as positive cervical screening and abnormal colposcopic impression,were independent associated factors of the≥HSIL detection rate.A multivariable logistic regression showed that positive cervical screening[odds ratio(OR)=1.75,95%confidence interval(CI):1.07–2.86]was a risk factor for detecting≥HSIL.Low-grade,high-grade,and cancer of colposcopic impression were associated with a higher risk for detecting≥HSIL(OR=2.94,95%CI:2.13–4.08;OR=36.64,95%CI:26.07–51.48).It is important to disseminate health knowledge to improve public awareness of cervical cancer prevention and to enhance the capacity building of professional staff to improve the quality of cervical cancer screening.Xiaosong Zhang Weihong Chen Xinxin Zhu Hui Bi Qingping Zhao Yunfeng Fu Lina Zhang Chunmei Zhang Ning Huang 2023China CDC weekly2023,5,14:1

13Insight of unresolved complex mixtures of saturated hydrocarbons in heavy oil via GC×GC-TOFMS analysis显示文摘The saturated hydrocarbon fraction of a heavily biodegraded crude oil from Liaohe oilfield was analyzed by using comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography coupled with time-of-flight mass spectrometry (GC×GC-TOFMS). The 'humps', which was termed as unresolved complex mixtures (UCMs) in conventional gas chromatographic analysis, was separated for identification of the individual compound. Main compounds of UCMs were identified according to the combined information of characteristics of GC×GC chromatogram and time-of-flight mass spectra. It's found that UCMs are mainly composed of great number of ring compounds with extremely low concentration. The ring compounds are separated according to their boiling point diversity in the first dimension column, then to their polarity or ring number variety in the second dimension column. In the sample there are two groups of UCMs, i.e., the first group compounds with boiling point lower that of C24 and the second group compounds with boiling point higher than that of C24. The first group of UCMs mainly consists of monocyclic, bicyclic and tricyclic ring compounds. The first group of UCMs is mainly composed of saturated hydrocarbons, in which the percentage of ring compounds with signal-to-noise ratio above 100 is about 75% of the total quantity of saturated hydrocarbon, while its mass is over 80% of the total saturated hydrocarbon. The second group of UCMs is mainly composed of tetracyclic and pentacyclic ring compounds, in which the percentage of UCM compounds with signal-to-noise ratio over 100 is about 17% of the total quantity of saturated hydrocarbon, and its mass is about 0.5% of the total saturated hydrocarbon. 15A machine learning model for textured X-ray scattering and diffraction image denoising显示文摘With the advancements in instrumentations of next-generation synchrotron light sources,methodologies for small-angle X-ray scattering(SAXS)/wide-angle X-ray diffraction(WAXD)experiments have dramatically evolved.Such experiments have developed into dynamic and multiscale in situ characterizations,leaving prolonged exposure time as well as radiation-induced damage a serious concern.However,reduction on exposure time or dose may result in noisier images with a lower signal-to-noise ratio,requiring powerful denoising mechanisms for physical information retrieval.Here,we tackle the problem from an algorithmic perspective by proposing a small yet effective machine-learning model for experimental SAXS/WAXD image denoising,allowing more redundancy for exposure time or dose reduction.Compared with classic models developed for natural image scenarios,our model provides a bespoke denoising solution,demonstrating superior performance on highly textured SAXS/WAXD images.The model is versatile and can be applied to denoising in other synchrotron imaging experiments when data volume and image complexity is concerned.Zhongzheng Zhou Chun Li Xiaoxue Bi Chenglong Zhang Yingke Huang Jian Zhuang Wenqiang Hua Zheng Dong Lina Zhao Yi Zhang Yuhui Dong 2023npj Computational Materials2023,,1:0
