| 1 | The heterogeneity of islet autoantibodies and the progression of islet failure in type 1 diabetic patients显示文摘Type 1 diabetes mellitus is heterogeneous in many facets. The patients suffered from type 1 diabetes present several levels of islet function as well as variable number and type of islet-specific autoantibodies. This study was to investigate prevalence and heterogeneity of the islet autoantibodies and clinical phenotypes of type 1 diabetes mellitus; and also discussed the process of islet failure and its risk factors in Chinese type 1 diabetic patients. A total of 1,291 type 1 diabetic patients were enrolled in this study. Demographic information was collected. Laboratory tests including mixed-meal tolerance test, human leukocyte antigen alleles, hemoglobin A1 c, lipids, thyroid function and islet autoantibodies were conducted. The frequency of islet-specific autoantibody in newly diagnosed T1 DM patients(duration shorter than half year) was 73% in East China. According to binary logistic regressions, autoantibody positivity, longer duration and lower Body Mass Index were the risk factors of islet failure. As the disease developed, autoantibodies against glutamic acid decarboxylase declined as well as the other two autoantibodies against zinc transporter 8 and islet antigen 2. The decrease of autoantibodies was positively correlated with aggressive beta cell destruction. Autoantibodies can facilitate the identification of classic T1 DM from other subtypes and predict the progression of islet failure. | 2 | From Redevelopment to In Situ Upgrading: Transforming Urban Village Governance in Shenzhen Through the Lens of Informality显示文摘The study on informality has experienced a shift from describing the spatial characteristics toward exploring the connotation of urban governance in recent years. This paper takes urban villages in Shenzhen, a typical informal settlement in China, as cases to analyze the two urban village governance modes of redevelopment and in situ upgrading and reveals the dynamics of the governance mode transformation. Through the lens of informality, this study focuses on the interaction among the government, the market, and former property owners on tenure legalization. The study finds that first of all, informality is the core of the transformation of urban village governance in Shenzhen. By strategically making use of informality, the government adopted different modes of urban village governance to fulfill the demands of urban development at different phases. Second, in the process of formalizing informal settlements through redevelopment, although the institutional framework is relatively complete, the boundary between informality and formality still changes continuously in property titling. While in the new governance mode of in situ upgrading in recent years, the government creates 'special areas' in informal settlements via approving their de facto tenure security, so as to attract market force to upgrade physical environment and social management. | 4 | Auxin signaling module OsSK41-OsIAA10-OsARF regulates grain yield traits in rice显示文摘Auxin is an important phytohormone in plants, and auxin signaling pathways in rice play key roles in regulating its growth, development, and productivity. To investigate how rice grain yield traits are regulated by auxin signaling pathways and to facilitate their application in rice improvement, we validated the functional relationships among regulatory genes such as OsIAA10, OsSK41, and OsARF21 that are involved in one of the auxin(OsIAA10) signaling pathways. We assessed the phenotypic effects of these genes on several grain yield traits across two environments using knockout and/or overexpression transgenic lines.Based on the results, we constructed a model that showed how grain yield traits were regulated by OsIAA10 and OsTIR1, OsAFB2, and OsSK41 and OsmiR393 in the OsSK41-OsIAA10-OsARF module and by OsARF21 in the transcriptional regulation of downstream auxin response genes in the OsSK41-OsIAA10-OsARF module. The population genomic analyses revealed rich genetic diversity and the presence of major functional alleles at most of these loci in rice populations. The strong differentiation of many major alleles between Xian/indica and Geng/japonica subspecies and/or among modern varieties and landraces suggested that they contributed to improved productivity during evolution and breeding. | 7 | Effect of Ag addition on the thermal stability and glass-forming ability of Zr_(35)Ti_(30)Cu_(7.5)Be_(27.5) bulk metallic glass显示文摘The thermal stability and glass forming ability (GFA) of Zr35-xTi30Cu7.5Be27.5Agx (x = 0-10) alloys were studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and ultrasonic techniques. We found that the addition of 1 at.% Ag can considerably enhance the GFA as indicated by an increase in the critical glass dimension from 15 mm in the Zr35Ti30Cu7.5Be27.5 alloy to 20 mm in the Zr34Ti30Cu7.5Be27.5Ag1 alloy. However, with the addition of more Ag the supercooled liquid region (△Tx) and y parameter (defined as Tx/(Tg+Tl)) drastically decreased from 155 K and 0.436 to 76 K and 0.363, respectively, resulting in a decrease in the GFA. | 10 | Biliary candidiasis mimicking IgG4-related disease in a patient with normal immunity显示文摘Purpose:To report a rare case of biliary candidiasis in a host with normal immunity.Methods:Laboratory tests indicated an elevated G level of 1000 pg/ml.Microscopic examination of pathological sections demonstrated multiple,narrow base,budding yeast cells following Grocott's methenamine silver staining and periodic acid-Schiff staining.Subsequent sequence analysis supported the diagnosis of biliary candidiasis.Results:A 31-year-old previously healthy man developed obstructive jaundice under no obvious inducement.He experienced cholecystectomy and biliary drainage.Surgical specimens revealed granulomatous chronic inflammation in the gallbladder,liver,bile ducts and mesenteric lymph nodes.He was misdiagnosed with tuberculosis and received antituberculosis treatment.However,his condition did not improve.He was finally diagnosed with biliary candidiasis and administered the antifungal treatment with fluconazole.His symptoms improved after such treatment.Conclusions:We reported a case of biliary candidiasis that mimicked IgG4-RD in a host with normal immunity.Our findings highlighted the need for pathological diagnosis in patients with symptoms resembling IgG4-RD. | Wenjie Bian Yuchao Zhong Xia Zhang Hongbin Chen Ruie Feng Xinyu Zhang Danhua Shen Yanying Liu | 2022 | Rheumatology & Autoimmunity2022,2,3: | 0 |

| 12 | Separation, Quantification and Structural Study of (+)-Catechin and (-)-Epicatechin by Ion Mobility Mass Spectrometry Combined with Theoretical Algorithms显示文摘Two catechin epimers and their non-covalent complexes with γ-cyclodextrin were studied by using ion mobility coupled with mass spectrometry (IM-MS). Rapid separation of complexes was achieved with the peak-to-peak resolution reaching 0.86 after optimization of IM condition. Collision cross section (CCS) was measured to explore the structural difference of complexes. A gap of 11.75 A^2 between two complexes was found. Molecular modeling and theoretical CCS calculation were adopted to explain the measurement results. Two binding ways of both complexes were found and the calculated CCS corresponds accurately to the measured CCS. | 13 | Comparison in structure and predicted function of epiphytic bacteria on Neopyropia yezoensis and Neopyropia katadae显示文摘The economic alga Neopyropia,which holds significant value in China for its edibility and economic potential,harbors diverse epiphytic bacteria on its surface.The epiphytic bacteria on Neopyropia yezoensis and Neopyropia katadae,two nori species of Neopyropia living at the same tidal level but with distinct physiological states and living habits,were investigated to understand the differences between them and the effects of epiphytic bacteria on their differential characteristics.Analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequences and real-time quantitative PCR(qPCR)of thalli and seawater samples(n=24)revealed notable differences in microbial diversity and community structure between the two species.Bacteroidetes dominated the bacterial communities in association with N.yezoensis,whereas Proteobacteria were predominant in N.katadae.Phylogenetic Investigation of Communities by Reconstruction of Unobserved States(PICRUSt2)analysis revealed enriched genes that related to the ABC transport system,iron complex outer membrane receptor proteins,and proliferation in N.yezoensis,whereas N.katadae exhibited enrichment of genes that related to energy supply as well as cell wall and cell membrane production.The results of qPCR indicate a higher abundance of epiphytic bacteria on surface of N.yezoensis than those on surface of N.katadae.The findings indicate that differences in the living environments of N.yezoensis and N.katadae may result in distinct structural composition and abundance of epiphytic bacteria on their surfaces,thereby conferring specific biological functionalities to each microbial community,and the epiphytic bacteria may shape the living habits of hosts to some extents.This study provided a basis for understanding the close association between surface microorganisms and algal bodies,and the physiological and ecological characteristics of nori species. | Xinran WANG Junhao WANG Yunke ZHU Xinyu ZHU Hong QIN Ka BIAN Xianghai TANG | 2023 | Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2023,41,6: | 0 |
