| 1 | Compared efficacy of preservation solutions on the outcome of liver transplantation:Meta-analysis显示文摘AIM To compare the effects of the four most commonly used preservation solutions on the outcome of liver transplantations.METHODS A systematic literature search was performed using MEDLINE, Scopus, EMBASE and the Cochrane Library databases up to January 31^(st), 2017. The inclusion criteria were comparative, randomized controlled trials(RCTs) for deceased donor liver(DDL) allografts with adult and pediatric donors using the gold standard University of Wisconsin(UW) solution or histidinetryptophan-ketoglutarate(HTK), Celsior(CS) and Institut Georges Lopez(IGL-1) solutions. Fifteen RCTs(1830 livers) were included; the primary outcomes were primary non-function(PNF) and one-year posttransplant graft survival(OGS-1). RESULTS All trials were homogenous with respect to donor and recipient characteristics. There was no statistical difference in the incidence of PNF with the use of UW, HTK, CS and IGL-1(RR = 0.02, 95%CI: 0.01-0.03, P = 0.356). Comparing OGS-1 also failed to reveal any difference between UW, HTK, CS and IGL-1(RR = 0.80, 95%CI: 0.80-0.80, P = 0.369). Two trials demonstrated higher PNF levels for UW in comparison with the HTK group, and individual studies described higher rates of biliary complications where HTK and CS were used compared to the UW and IGL-1 solutions. | 5 | Topology impacts TRAIL therapy: Differences in primary cancer growth and liver metastasis between orthotopic and subcutaneous xenotransplants of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma cells显示文摘Background: To study novel treatment modalities for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC), we need to transfer the knowledge from in vitro to in vivo. It is important to mirror the clinical characteristics of the typically local invasive growth of pancreatic cancer and the distant spread resulting in liver metastasis. Notably, for xenotransplant studies using human specimen, two models, i.e. subcutaneous(s.c.) and orthotopic(o.t.) transplantation are widely used. Methods: The subcutaneously and orthotopically inoculated Colo357 Bcl-x L cell-derived tumors were directly compared with and without TNF-related apoptosis inducing ligand(TRAIL) treatment. The size of primary tumors, number of liver metastasis and the histologic markers Ki67, M30, TNF-α and CD31 were assessed. Results: Upon TRAIL treatment, the primary tumors did not change their size, neither in the s.c. nor in the o.t. approaches. But when s.c. was compared to o.t., the size of the s.c. tumors was more than twofold bigger than that of the o.t. tumors( P<0.01). However, mice with orthotopically inoculated PDAC cells developed liver metastasis upon TRAIL treatment much more frequently( n=13/17) than mice with subcutaneously inoculated PDAC cells( n=1/11)( P<0.01). As a likely driving force for this increased metastasis, a higher TNF-α staining intensity in the o.t. tumors was observed by immunohistochemistry. Conclusions: These data from a direct side-by-side comparison underline the importance of the proper inoculation site of the PDAC cells. Local invasion and liver metastases are a hallmark of PDAC in the clinic;the o.t. model is clearly superior in reflecting this setting. | 11 | Ionic liquids in electrocatalysis显示文摘The performance of an electrocatalyst, which is needed e.g. for key energy conversion reactions such as hydrogen evolution, oxygen reduction or CO2 reduction, is determined not only by the inherent structure of active sites but also by the properties of the interfacial structures at catalytic surfaces. Ionic liquids(ILs), as a unique class of metal salts with melting point below 100 ℃, present themselves as ideal modulators for manipulations of the interfacial structures. Due to their excellent properties such as good chemical stability, high ionic conductivity, wide electrochemical windows and tunable solvent properties the performance of electrocatalysts can be substantially improved through ILs. In the current minireview, we highlight the critical role of the IL phase at the microenvironments created by the IL, the liquid electrolyte, catalytic nanoparticles and/or support materials, by detailing the promotional effect of IL in electrocatalysis as reaction media, binders, and surface modifiers. | 13 | Net absorption and liver metabolism of amino acids and heat production of portaldrained viscera and liver in multiparous sows during transition and lactation显示文摘Background:Determination of nutrient requirements in the late gestating and lactating sows is essential to optimize sow productivity.The objectives of the present study were to quantify amino acid(AA)fluxes and heat production across portal-drained viscera(PDV)and liver in multiparous sows during transition and lactation.Methods:Eight second parity sows were fitted with indwelling catheters in the femoral artery and in the mesenteric,portal and hepatic veins.Eight hourly sets of blood samples were taken starting 0.5 h before feeding at−10,−3,+3,and+17 d in milk(DIM).Blood gases,plasma metabolites and apparent total tract digestibility(ATTD)of nutrients were measured.Results:Feed intake,the ATTD of DM,energy,nitrogen,fat and crude fiber changed with DIM(P<0.001).Except for Glu,O2,and urea,all net portal fluxes were positive,and all were affected by DIM(P<0.05)and by sampling time(P<0.01).Compared with pre partum levels,net portal uptake of AA was 3-63%lower at+3 DIM but 40-100%higher at+17 DIM.Net portal fluxes of AA peaked at 1.5 to 2.5 h after feeding except for Glu,and they were positively correlated with changes in sow feed intake across DIM.The net portal recovery was low for Met(49%),Thr(54%),and His(54%)and high for the remaining essential AA(63-69%)and none of them differed across DIM.Net hepatic uptake(i.e.hepatic oxidation)of Lys,Thr,Ile,Leu and Phe peaked at 0.5 to 2.5 h after feeding,whereas uptake of Trp,Val,and His was constant,while that of Met was close to zero.Conclusion:The net portal recovery was substantially lower for Met,Thr,and His than the remaining essential AA.Hepatic AA oxidation peaks 0.5 to 2.5 h after feeding.The heat production in PDV and liver was approximately two-fold higher at peak lactation compared to other stages.The study suggests that lysine was the limiting AA in peak lactation but not in early lactation. | Liang Hu Niels Bastian Kristensen Lianqiang Che De Wu Peter Kappel Theil | 2020 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2020，11，2： | 2 |
