| 1 | Spatiotemporal patterns of the fish assemblages downstream of the Gezhouba Dam on the Yangtze River显示文摘An explicit demonstration of the changes in fish assemblages is required to reveal the influence of damming on fish species.However,information from which to draw general conclusions regarding changes in fish assemblages is insufficient because of the limitations of available approaches.We used a combination of acoustic surveys,gillnet sampling,and geostatistical simulations to document the spatiotemporal variations in the fish assemblages downstream of the Gezhouba Dam,before and after the third impoundment of Three Gorges Reservoir(TGR).To conduct a hydroacoustic identification of individual species,we matched the size distributions of the fishes captured by gillnet with those of the acoustic surveys.An optimum threshold of target strength of 50 dB re 1 m 2 was defined,and acoustic surveys were purposefully extended to the selected fish assemblages(i.e.,endemic Coreius species) that was acquired by the size and species selectivity of the gillnet sampling.The relative proportion of fish species in acoustic surveys was allocated based on the composition(%) of the harvest in the gillnet surveys.Geostatistical simulations were likewise used to generate spatial patterns of fish distribution,and to determine the absolute abundance of the selected fish assemblages.We observed both the species composition and the spatial distribution of the selected fish assemblages changed significantly after implementation of new flow regulation in the TGR,wherein an immediate sharp population decline in the Coreius occurred.Our results strongly suggested that the new flow regulation in the TGR impoundment adversely affected downstream fish species,particularly the endemic Coreius species.To determine the factors responsible for the decline,we associated the variation in the fish assemblage patterns with changes in the environment and determined that substrate erosion resulting from trapping practices in the TGR likely played a key role. | TAO JiangPing GONG YuTian TAN XiChang YANG Zhi CHANG JianBo | 2012 | Science China(Life Sciences)2012,55,7: | 12 |
| 2 | Species identification of Chinese sturgeon using acoustic descriptors and ascertaining their spatial distribution in the spawning ground of Gezhouba Dam显示文摘This study has developed an improved subjective approach of classification in conjunction with Stepwise DFA analysis to discriminate Chinese sturgeon signals from other targets. The results showed that all together 25 Chinese sturgeon echo-signals were detected in the spawning ground of Gezhouba Dam during the last 3 years, and the identification accuracy reached 90.9%. In Stepwise DFA, 24 out of 67 variables were applied in discrimination and identification. PCA combined with DFA was then used to ensure the significance of the 24 variables and detailed the identification pattern. The results indicated that we can discriminate Chinese sturgeon from other fish species and noise using certain descriptors such as the behaviour variables, echo characteristics and acoustic cross-section characteristics. However, identification of Chinese sturgeon from sediments is more difficult and needs a total of 24 variables. This is due to the limited knowledge about the acoustic-scattering properties of the substrate regions. Based on identified Chinese sturgeon individuals, 18 individuals were distributed in the region between the site of Gezhouba Dam and Miaozui reach, with a surface area of about 3.4 km2. | 3 | Chrysoeriol ameliorates hyperglycemia by regulating the carbohydrate metabolic enzymes in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats显示文摘The present study aimed to evaluate the effects of chrysoeriol from Cardiospermum halicacabum in streptozotocin induced Wistar rats.Thirty rats were categorized as control,diabetic control supplemented with 0,20 mg/kg chrysoeriol and 600μg/kg BW of glibenclamide for 45-day trial period.Our results indicated that the inclusion of chrysoeriol(20 mg/kg)showed a significant reduction in plasma glucose,hemoglobin and glycosylated hemoglobin level with a rising of plasma insulin sensitivity.Further,downregulated enzymes including glucose 6-phosphatase,fructose 1,6-bisphosphatase,and glycogen phosphorylase as well upregulated enzymes such as hexokinase,glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase,pyruvate kinase,and hepatic glycogen content.There was a diminish action found in liver glycogen synthase of tested rat with a rise in gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase,towards normal levels upon treatment with chrysoeriol.The histopathological study confirmed that renewal of the beta cells of pancreatic of chrysoeriol and glibenclamide treated rats.In addition,the molecular docking of chrysoeriol against glycolytic enzymes including hexokinase,glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase,pyruvate kinase,using Argus software shows chrysoeriol had greatest ligand binding energy as equivalent to glibenclamide,as a standard drug.Thus,chrysoeriol found to be non-toxic with potential regulation on glycemic control and upregulation of the carbohydrate metabolic enzymes. | Baskaran Krishnan Abirami Ramu Ganesan Ravindran Balasubramani Dinh Duc Nguyen Soon Woong Chang Shaoyun Wang Jianbo Xiao Balamuralikrishnan Balasubramanian | 2020 | Food Science and Human Wellness2020,9,4: | 3 |

| 5 | Perovskite Solar Cells toward Eco-Friendly Printing显示文摘Eco-friendly printing is important for mass manufacturing of thin-film photovoltaic(PV)devices to preserve human safety and the environment and to reduce energy consumption and capital expense.However,it is challenging for perovskite PVs due to the lack of eco-friendly solvents for ambient fast printing.In this study,we demonstrate for the first time an eco-friendly printing concept for high-performance perovskite solar cells.Both the perovskite and charge transport layers were fabricated from eco-friendly solvents via scalable fast blade coating under ambient conditions.The perovskite dynamic crystallization during blade coating investigated using in situ grazing incidence wide-angle X-ray scattering(GIWAXS)reveals a long sol-gel window prior to phase transformation and a strong interaction between the precursors and the eco-friendly solvents.The insights enable the achievement of high quality coatings for both the perovskite and charge transport layers by controlling film formation during scalable coating.The excellent optoelectronic properties of these coatings translate to a power conversion efficiency of 18.26%for eco-friendly printed solar cells,which is on par with the conventional devices fabricated via spin coating from toxic solvents under inert atmosphere.The eco-friendly printing paradigm presented in this work paves the way for future green and highthroughput fabrication on an industrial scale for perovskite PVs. | Xiaoming Chang Yuanyuan Fan Kui Zhao Junjie Fang Dongle Liu Ming-Chun Tang Dounya Barrit Detlef-MSmilgies Ruipeng Li Jing Lu Jianbo Li Tinghuan Yang Aram Amassian Zicheng Ding Yonghua Chen Shengzhong(Frank)Liu Wei Huang | 2021 | Research2021,,1: | 1 |
| 6 | The Mitochondrial Genome of Raphanus sativus and Gene Evolution of Cruciferous Mitochondrial Types显示文摘To explore the mitochondrial genes of the Cruciferae family, the mitochondrial genome of Raphanus sativus (sat) was sequenced and annotated. The circular mitochondrial genome of sat is 239,723 bp and includes 33 protein-coding genes, three rRNA genes and 17 tRNA genes. The mitochondrial genome also contains a pair of large repeat sequences 5.9 kb in length, which may mediate genome reorga-nization into two sub-genomic circles, with predicted sizes of 124.8 kb and 115.0 kb, respectively. Furthermore, gene evolution of mitochondrial genomes within the Cruciferae family was analyzed using sat mitochondrial type (mitotype), together with six other re-ported mitotypes. The cruciferous mitochondrial genomes have maintained almost the same set of functional genes. Compared with Cycas taitungensis (a representative gymnosperm), the mitochondrial genomes of the Cruciferae have lost nine protein-coding genes and seven mitochondrial-like tRNA genes, but acquired six chloroplast-like tRNAs. Among the Cruciferae, to maintain the same set of genes that are necessary for mitochondrial function, the exons of the genes have changed at the lowest rates, as indicated by the numbers of single nucleotide polymorphisms. The open reading frames (ORFs) of unknown function in the cruciferous genomes are not conserved. Evolutionary events, such as mutations, genome reorganizations and sequence insertions or deletions (indels), have resulted in the non- conserved ORFs in the cruciferous mitochondrial genomes, which is becoming significantly different among mitotypes. This work represents the first phylogenic explanation of the evolution of genes of known function in the Cruciferae family. | 7 | Pulmonary complications and respiratory management in neurocritical care:a narrative review显示文摘Neurocritical care(NCC)is not only generally guided by principles of general intensive care,but also directed by specific goals and methods.This review summarizes the common pulmonary diseases and pathophysiology affecting NCC patients and the progress made in strategies of respiratory support in NCC.This review highlights the possible interactions and pathways that have been revealed between neurological injuries and respiratory diseases,including the catecholamine pathway,systemic inflammatory reactions,adrenergic hypersensitivity,and dopaminergic signaling.Pulmonary complications of neurocritical patients include pneumonia,neurological pulmonary edema,and respiratory distress.Specific aspects of respiratory management include prioritizing the protection of the brain,and the goal of respiratory management is to avoid inappropriate blood gas composition levels and intracranial hypertension.Compared with the traditional mode of protective mechanical ventilation with low tidal volume(V_(t)),high positive end-expiratory pressure(PEEP),and recruitment maneuvers,low PEEP might yield a potential benefit in closing and protecting the lung tissue.Multimodal neuromonitoring can ensure the safety of respiratory maneuvers in clinical and scientific practice.Future studies are required to develop guidelines for respiratory management in NCC. | Junxian Wen Jia Chen Jianbo Chang Junji Wei | 2022 | Chinese Medical Journal2022,,7: | 1 |

| 13 | Effects of Rhodiola rosea and its major compounds on insulin resistance in Caenorhabditis elegans显示文摘By establishing insulin resistance model of Caenorhabditis elegans,the effects of Rhodiola rosea extract and its compounds on glucose level,insulin signal intensity,antioxidant enzymes and cell apoptosis of C.elegans were investigated in present study.The mRNA expression of DAF-2,DAF-16,AkT-1,SKN-1,AAK-2 and SOD-3 were detected by qRT-PCR.The results revealed that R.rosea extract contain salidroside,kaempferol,chlorogenic acid,kaemphenol-7-O-glucoside,caffeic acid,and quercetin,etc.At the concentration of 200μg/mL,R.rosea extract treated C.elegans showed increased insulin signal intensity by 52.46%compared with the normal group,while,glucose content decreased by 72.13%and reactive oxygen species(ROS)level decreased by 36.84%.Compared with high glucose model group,the activities of superoxide dismutase(SOD),catalase(CAT)and glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px)increased by 10.9,14.2 and 27.9,respectively.After R.rosea extract intervention,the expression levels of DAF-2,AkT-1,AAK-2,SKN-1 and other genes significantly increased.These results also indicated that R.rosea extract could activate insulin receptor substrate(IRS)and adenosine 5′-monophosphate(AMP)-activated protein kinase(AMPK)pathways to enhance insulin signaling,promote nutrient metabolism,and achieve the effect for improving insulin resistance of C.elegans. | Hui Teng Hongting Deng Yanzi Wu Chang Zhang Chao Ai Hui Cao Jianbo Xiao Lei Chen | 2022 | Journal of Future Foods2022,2,4: | 0 |

In this paper,we summarize the seismo-tectonic background and geomorphic features of the earthquake zone. Under the guidance of the standard 'The Earthquake Site Works-Parts4: Assessment of Direct Loss',the damage to buildings and lifeline systems with various structural types are introduced,and we ultimately estimate the direct economic losses to mud-wood houses and the destruction of brick-wood houses. | 18 | Solar-driven high-temperature steam generation at ambient pressure显示文摘This paper demonstrates a facile solar steam generator for the generation of high-temperature steam at ambient pressure. The steam generator consists of a coiled copper tube(CCT) that serves as both solar collector and vapor heater. Both the inner and outer surfaces of the CCT are coated with black superhydrophobic copper oxide layer to improve the solar absorption, and such superhydrophobic layer prevents the condensation and clogging of water vapor during the heating process. Solar vapor is generated at the inlet of CCT through interfacial evaporation and subsequently heated inside the CCT as the vapor travels from the inlet to the outlet. By employing this approach, steam temperature that exceeds 100℃ under 1-sun illumination is demonstrated. Furthermore,steam temperature could reach as high as 250℃ under 10-sun illumination at ambient pressure. Successful sterilization experiment was also performed in this work to demonstrate the potential application of the high temperature steam generated.
