1Insight-HXMT observations of the first binary neutron star merger GW170817显示文摘Finding the electromagnetic(EM) counterpart of binary compact star merger, especially the binary neutron star(BNS) merger,is critically important for gravitational wave(GW) astronomy, cosmology and fundamental physics. On Aug. 17, 2017,Advanced LIGO and Fermi/GBM independently triggered the first BNS merger, GW170817, and its high energy EM counterpart,GRB 170817 A, respectively, resulting in a global observation campaign covering gamma-ray, X-ray, UV, optical, IR, radio as well as neutrinos. The High Energy X-ray telescope(HE) onboard Insight-HXMT(Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope) is the unique high-energy gamma-ray telescope that monitored the entire GW localization area and especially the optical counterpart(SSS17 a/AT2017 gfo) with very large collection area(~1000 cm^2) and microsecond time resolution in 0.2-5 MeV. In addition,Insight-HXMT quickly implemented a Target of Opportunity(ToO) observation to scan the GW localization area for potential X-ray emission from the GW source. Although Insight-HXMT did not detect any significant high energy(0.2-5 MeV) radiation from GW170817, its observation helped to confirm the unexpected weak and soft nature of GRB 170817 A. Meanwhile,Insight-HXMT/HE provides one of the most stringent constraints(~10^(-7) to 10^(-6) erg/cm^2/s) for both GRB170817 A and any other possible precursor or extended emissions in 0.2-5 MeV, which help us to better understand the properties of EM radiation from this BNS merger. 2Liquid-phase Separation in Rapid Solidification of Undercooled Fe-Co-Cu Melts显示文摘The homogeneous liquid was separated into two phases,(Fe,Co)-rich L1 and Cu-rich L2,once the melt was undercooled below a liquid-phase separation temperature T sep.If the duration from T sep to T s1(solidification temperature of L1 phase),termed the liquid-phase separation interval t,exceeded a critical value,an egg-type structure was observed.By utilizing differential thermal analyses(DTA),the solidification process of the undercooled Fe-Co-Cu alloys was studied.Additionally,an immiscible boundary was obtained,which was a convex parabola with a symmetrical axis of x Cu =0.52.Depending on the relative amounts of L1 and L2,the minor phase was nucleated firstly to form liquid droplets and separated from the original liquids at the beginning of liquid-phase separation.Ning Liu Feng Liu Zheng Chen Gencang Yang Changlin Yang Yaohe Zhou 2012Journal of Materials Science & Technology2012,28,7:7

4Interannual variability of thermal front west of Luzon Island in boreal winter显示文摘Interannual variability of thermal front west of Luzon Island during the winter of 1993–2013 is examined with the method of singular value decomposition(SVD) and a suite of satellite measurements in this paper. It is found that both the area and intensity of the thermal front west of Luzon Island show apparent interannual variability.Further study based on SVD shows that the interannual variability of the thermal front is highly associated with El Ni?o and Southern Oscillation(ENSO), and the correlation coefficient between Ni?o3.4 index and the first Principal Component(PC1) of thermal front can reach –0.65. The mechanism can be described as follows. 7Biochemical properties of K_(11,48)-branched ubiquitin chains显示文摘As one of the most widely existing post-translational modification models, ubiquitination regulates diverse cellular activities. In eukaryotes, K_(11,48)-branched ubiquitin chains play key roles in cell cycle and protein quality control. However, the structural and biochemical properties of K_(11,48)-branched ubiquitin chains have not been well examined. Here we employed the synthetic linkage-and length-defined K_(11,48)-branched ubiquitin chains to examine their binding and hydrolysis properties in vitro. Quantitatively affinity determination of ubiquitin chains to the proteasome ubiquitin receptor S5 a indicated that the S5 a exhibited preference binding to K_(11,48)-branched chains over K_(11)-linked chains, but not K_(48)-conjugated chains. 12Warm water wake off northeast Vietnam in the South China Sea显示文摘Due to orographic blockage, a weak wind wake occurs in summer off northeast Vietnam in the South China Sea. Under the wind wake, warm water is observed from both high-resolution satellite data and hydrographic observations. The wake of warm water forms in June, continues to mature in July and August, starts to decay in September, and disappears in October. The warm water wake also shows robust diurnal variation – it intensifies during the day and weakens in the night. Warm water wakes can be generated through wind-induced mixing and thermal(latent heat flux) processes. In this paper, a mixed layer model is used to evaluate the relative importance of the two processes on seasonal and diurnal timescales, respectively. 13Winter coastal upwelling off northwest Borneo in the South China Sea显示文摘Winter coastal upwelling off northwest Borneo in the South China Sea(SCS) is investigated by using satellite data, climatological temperature and salinity fields and reanalysis data. The upwelling forms in December, matures in January, starts to decay in February and almost disappears in March. Both Ekman transport induced by the alongshore winter monsoon and Ekman pumping due to orographic wind stress curl are favorable for the upwelling. Transport estimates demonstrate that the month-to-month variability of Ekman transport and Ekman pumping are both consistent with that of winter coastal upwelling, but Ekman transport is two times larger than Ekman pumping in January and February. Under the influence of El Ni?o-Southern Oscillation(ENSO), the upwelling shows remarkable interannual variability: during winter of El Ni?o(La Ni?a) years, an anticyclonic(a cyclonic) wind anomaly is established in the SCS, which behaves a northeasterly(southwesterly) anomaly and a positive(negative) wind stress curl anomaly off the northwest Borneo coast, enhancing(reducing) the upwelling and causing anomalous surface cooling(warming) and higher(lower) chlorophyll concentration. 14Investigation of the 12 orientations variants of nanoscale Al precipitates in eutectic Si of Al-7Si-0.6Mg alloy显示文摘Various orientations and diffraction patterns from nanoscale Al precipitates in eutectic Si were investigated by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy combined with transition matrix and stereographic projection.It was found that the Al precipitates had 12 variants,all orientation relationships can be expressed as:(001)Al//{111}Si,[110]Al//<110>Si.Further,a new diffraction pattern model from Al precipitates was established under[111]Si zone axis,which was in good agreement with the experiment data.The microstructure,adhesion strength and electronic structure of the interface between Al precipitate and Si matrix were studied by first-principles calculation and experimental observation.The results show that the covalent bonds are formed between interfacial Al and Si atoms,which play a key role in interfacial bind strength.Based on the Griffith fracture theory,the cracks tend to form and expand in the interior of Al precipitates firstly,and the interfaces can act as a protective layer to prevent crack propagation.Therefore,the nanoscale Al precipitates will improve the toughness of eutectic Si particles by releasing part of stress through lattice distortion.In addition,the stretched nanoscale Al precipitates can act as effective heterogeneous nucleation sites for high density deformation nanotwins in eutectic Si during deformation,which significantly improved the deformability of eutectic Si.Yifan Wang Yanli Lu Jing Zhang Wenchao Yang Changlin Yang Pan Wang Xiaoqing Song Zheng Chen 2021Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,8:1
15Multi-site anchoring of single-molecule for efficient and stable perovskite solar cells with lead shielding显示文摘The emergence of perovskite solar cells(PSCs) has greatly promoted the progress of photovoltaic technologies.The rapid development of PSCs has been driven by the advances in optimizing perovskite films and their adjacent interfaces.However,the polycrystalline perovskite layers in most highly efficient PSCs still contain various defects that greatly limit photovoltaic performance and stability of the devices.Herein,we introduce a multifunctional additive ethylene diamine tetra methylene phosphonic sodium(EDTMPS) with multiple anchor points into the precursor of perovskite to improve the efficiency and stability of PSCs and provide in-situ protection of lead leakage.The addition of EDTMPS acts as a crystal growth controller and passivation agent for perovskite films,thereby slowing down the crystallization rate of the film and obtaining high-quality perovskite films.Our study also provides an insight into how the modifier modulate the interfacial energy level arrangement as well as affect transfer of charge carriers and their recombination under photoinduced excitation.As a result,the power conversion efficiency(PCE) of single subcell with a working area of 0.255 cm^(2) increases significantly from 20.03% to 23.37%.Moreover,we obtained a PCE of 19.16% for the 25 cm^(2) module.Importantly,the unencapsulated EDTMP-modified PSCs exhibit better operational and thermal stability,as well as in-situ absorption of leaked lead ions.Zhengyan He Shufang Zhang Yushuang Gao Quanming Geng Xiangrui Jia Shuo Yang Zhiqiang Zhang Yanpu Zheng Yanqiang Hu Changlin Yao Qi Zhang 2023Journal of Energy Chemistry2023,,12:0
16Equilibria between the K^+ binding and cation vacancy conformations of potassium channels显示文摘Dear Editor, Potassium channels are integral membrane proteins that selectively con duct K^+ ions across cell membra ne (Hille, 2001). They play essential roles in maintaining cellular ionic homoeostasis and generating action membrane potentials in excitable cells. The mechanism of K^+ selectivity has been evaluated in many biophysical and physiological studies (Zhou et al., 2001;Liu et al., 2015;Schewe et al., 2016). A highly con served signature seque nee, TVGYG, in the selectivity filter of potassium channels (e.g., KcsA) is known to coordinate K^+ ions (Zhou et al., 2001). Carbonyls of these residues point toward the pore, forming four continuous ion binding sites (S1-S4) and resulting in higher selectivity for K^+ over Na^+(Zhou et al., 2001). The NaK channel from Bacillus cereus is a norvselective cation channel that shares high structural homology with KcsA (Shi et al., 2006). Owing to a distinctive primary sequenee of 63TVGDG67, the selectivity filter of NaK preserves only two ion binding sites, allocated similarly as S3 and S4 in KcsA (Alam and Jiang, 2009a, b). Remarkably, the D66Y and N68D double mutations of NaK channel (Fig. S1) transform it into a K^+ selective channel (termed as NaK2K)(Sauer et al., 2013). Crystal structure of NaK and NaK2K have revealed distinet binding coordination of Na^+ and K^+ ions in their selectivity filter (Figs. S2 and S3)(Alam and Jiang, 2009a, b;Sauer et al., 2013). However, dynamics of the NaK and NaK2K selectivity filter with the bind泊g of Na+ or K^+ are still elusive.
