| 1 | The next generation models for crops and agro-ecosystems显示文摘Growth in population, decrease in arable land area, and change in climate are endangering our food security. Precision agriculture has the potential to increase crop productivity thorough tailored agricultural practices for different growing areas. Many models of crops and agro-ecosystems capable of predicting interaction between plants and environments have been developed for precision agriculture. Currently, there are several representative categories of crop and agro-ecosystem models, including the de Wit school models, the DSSAT series models and the APSIM series models, which have contributed substantially to improvement of agricultural practices. However, these models are weak in predicting performances of crops under environmental and genetic perturbations are generally weak, which severely limits the application of these models in guiding precision agriculture. We need to develop the next generation crop and agro-ecosystems models with a high level of mechanistic basis, which can be integrated with high throughput data and can predict the heterogeneity of environmental factors inside canopy and dynamic canopy photosynthesis. In developing such a model close collaboration is inevitably required among scientists from different disciplines. The successful development and application of such models will undoubtedly advance precision agriculture through providing better agronomical practices tailored for different growing environments. | 8 | Identification of active sites and synergistic effect in multicomponent carbon-based Ru catalysts during electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution显示文摘Single atom catalysts(SACs)were reported to demonstrate exciting catalytic features for a number of reactions,including hydrogen evolution reaction(HER).However,the true role of these single atom sites in catalysts remains elusive,particularly for those prepared via pyrolysis,where the formation of active nanoparticle counterparts is often unavoidable.Here we report a Ru based catalyst(Ru embedded in N doped carbon spheres(Ru/NPCS))comprising of both Ru nanoclusters and Ru single sites,who demonstrates activity exceeding Pt catalyst and mass activity among the best of the Ru based catalysts under acidic conditions.The integration of proton exchange membrane water electrolysis with Ru/NPCS as a cathode exhibited an excellent hydrogen generation activity and extraordinary stability(during 120 h of electrolysis)with a 1/48 Ru loading(16.5μgRu·cm^(−2))of a commercial 20%Pt/C catalyst.Through precisely tailoring the dispersion status of the catalysts,we reveal that while ruthenium nanoclusters actively catalyze HER via Volmer–Tafel mechanism,the Ru SACs barely catalyze HER,with H*adsorption difficult to occur.Moreover,no synergy between Ru SACs and Ru cluster is revealed,meaning the Ru SACs act as a spectator rather than active species during H2 evolution. | Rongpeng Ma Xian Wang Xiaolong Yang Yang Li Changpeng Liu Junjie Ge Wei Xing | 2023 | Nano Research2023,16,1: | 2 |

| 10 | Microstructure Evolution and Grain Coarsening Behaviour During Partial Remelting of Cyclic Extrusion Compression Formed AZ61 Magnesium Alloy显示文摘The effects of CEC passes, isothermal holding time and reheating temperature on the microstructure evolution and grain coarsening behaviour of AZ61 magnesium alloy produced by the recrystallisation and partialmelting (RAP) process were investigated. Before partial remelting, as-cast AZ61 alloy was deformed by cyclic extrusion compression (CEC) with one pass and two pass at 330℃. After CEC, the microstructure consisted of unrecrystallized grains and deformed eutectic compounds. Increasing isothermal holding time resulted in the formation of spheroidal grains surrounded by liquid films. With increasing the isothermal holding time, the solid grain size increased and the degree of spheroidization was improved. With increasing the reheating temperature, namely increasing liquid fraction, the solid grain size obviously decreased during the period from 560℃ to 570℃ and then slightly increased after 570℃, while the shape factor increased monotonously. During partial remelting, increasing reheating temperature can properly short the isothermal holding time to obtain fine structure. Moreover, increasing the numbers of CEC passes could produce finer semi-solid mi- crostructure. The coarsening behavior of solid grains in the semi-solid state obeys Ostwald ripening and grain coalescence mechanisms. The coarsening rate constant, K, was 80 μm3 · s-1 for samples partially remelted at 595℃. | 11 | Nonlinear Electrical Properties of SnO_2-Li_2O-Nb_2O_5 Varistor System显示文摘The electrical properties of (Nb, Li)-doped SnO2 ceramics as a new varistor material were investigated. The sample 97.95%SnO2·0.50%Li2O·0.05%Nb2O5 (mol fraction) sintered at 1450= possess the highest density (ρ=6.77 g/cm3) and nonlinear electrical coefficient (α=11.6). The substitution of Sn4+ with Li+ increases the concentration of oxygen vacancies, together with the formation of solid solution, which will increase the sintering rate greatly and decrease the optimized sintering temperature. The substitution of Sn4+ with Li+ and the variation of temperature play very important effects on the densities, dielectric constant, nonlinear electrical properties and other characteristics of the samples. The properties of the grain boundary barrier and the microstructural characteristics were investigated to ensure the effect of the dopants and the temperature. | 18 | Correlat ion of thiamine metabolite levels with cognitive function in the non-demented elderly显示文摘Thiamine metabolism is critical for glucose metabolism and also vital for brain function,which is susceptible to decline in the elderly. This study aimed to investigate whether thiamine metabolites correlate with cognitive function in the non-demented elderly and their impact factors. Volunteers >60 years old were recruited and their blood thiamine metabolites and Mini-Mental State Examination(MMSE) scores were measured. The apolipoprotein E(APOE) genotype,routine blood parameters,liver and kidney function,and levels of fasting blood glucose and triglycerides were also measured. The results showed that the thiamine diphosphate(TDP) level weakly correlated with MMSE score in the non-demented elderly. Participants with high TDP levels performed better in Recall and Attention and Calculation than those with low TDP. TDP levels were associated with the APOE ε2 allele,body mass index,hemoglobin level,fasting blood glucose,and triglycerides. | 19 | Polymer-chelation approach to high-performance Fe-Nx-C catalyst towards oxygen reduction reaction显示文摘Pyrolyzed Fe-Nx-C with atomically dispersed Fe-Nxsites are hailed as the most promising alternative to the noble metal Pt-based catalysts towards oxygen reduction reaction(ORR). However, the conventional micropore-confinement synthetic approach usually causes the insufficient utilization of active sites and mass transport resistance as the sites are located inside the micropore. We herein report a polymerchelation strategy to directly disperse the Fe-Nxactive sites onto the carbon surface. The N-rich monomer was in-situ polymerized on the carbon support and then chelated with Fe. The strong Fe-N chelating interaction is crucial to suppress Fe aggregation when undergoing the high-temperature pyrolysis.
