1p16 gene methylation in colorectal cancers associated with Duke's staging显示文摘AIM To explore the association of methylation of the CpG island in the promotor of the p16 tumor suppressor gene with the clinicopathological characteristics of the colorectal cancers.``METHODS Methylation-specific PCR (MSP) was used to detect p16 methylation of 62 sporadic colorectal cancer specimens.``RESULTS pi6 methylation was detected in 42% of the tumors. 2Effect of Different Amendments on Ryegrass Growth in Copper Mine Tailings显示文摘Montmorillonite, rice straw, organic manure and chemical fertilizer were used as amendment materials for copper mine tailings, and their effects on mine tailing pH, nutrients and metal availability to ryegrass were investigated. Chemical fertilization was the most effective one in improving ryegrass growth in mine tailings among the amendment materials examined. It was found that montmorillonite raised biomass of ryegrass at the 1st and 2nd cuts, but it did not give further positive effects at the 3rd and 4th cuts. The effect of organic materials on ryegrass growth was not so good as expected, mainly due to their slow decomposition in mine tailings with less soil microorganisms. Available Cu and Zn contents in mine tailings decreased in the presence of montmorillonite but increased when rice straw and organic manure were used as amendments. Cu and Zn contents in ryegrass decreased with increasing the rate of montmorillonite application but increased with the rate of rice straw. Zn showed much stronger mobility from soil to ryegrass than Cu, and almost all the available N and P in mine tailings, except for the treatments with organic manure, were completely consumed after ryegrass had grown in mine tailings for more than four months and been harvested for four times. 3Relationship between gene expression and the accumulation of catechin during spring and autumn in tea plants (Camellia sinensis L.)显示文摘The tea plant(Camellia sinensis L.)is an important commercial crop with remarkably high catechin concentrations.Tea is popular worldwide given the plant's health benefits.Catechins are the main astringent substance in tea and are synthesized mainly via the phenylpropanoid pathway.In this study,eight cultivars of tea plants harvested both in spring and autumn were used to investigate differences in catechin concentrations by using high-performance liquid chromatography.The expression levels of genes associated with catechin biosynthesis were investigated using reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction.The results indicated that the total catechin(TC)concentrations were significantly higher in tea plants harvested in autumn than in those harvested in spring,based on higher concentrations of epigallocatechin(EGC)in autumn tea(P<0.01).The expression of the genes phenylalanine ammonia-lyase(PAL),flavanone 3-hydroxylase(F3H),flavonoid 3′,5′-hydroxylase(F3′5′H),dihydroflavonol 4-reductase(DFR),and anthocyanidin synthase(ANS)is closely related to the TC content of tea plants in both spring and autumn.Positive correlations between PAL,cinnamate 4-hydroxylase(C4H),F3H,and DFR expression and EGC accumulation in autumn tea were identified,with correlation coefficients of 0.710,0.763,0.884,and 0.707,respectively.A negative correlation between ANS expression level and EGC concentrations in tea plants harvested in spring was noted(r=−0.732).Additionally,negative correlations between F3H and ANS expression levels and the catechin content were identified in spring tea,whereas the correlations were positive in autumn tea.Significant differences in the F3H and ANS expression levels between spring and autumn tea indicate that F3H and ANS are potentially key genes affecting catechin accumulation in tea plants.Min Liu Heng-lu Tian Jian-Hua Wu Ren-Rong Cang Run-Xian Wang Xiao-Hua Qi Qiang Xu Xue-Hao Chen 2015Horticulture Research2015,2,1:10
4Complementation in the composition of steel slag and red mud for preparation of novel ceramics显示文摘A method for preparing novel ceramics was developed in this study. Different ratios red muds were added to steel slags to optimize the preparation of novel ceramics by a traditional ceramic preparation process. The sintering mechanism, microstructure, and performance were studied by X-ray diffraction techniques, scanning electron microscopy, and combined experiments of linear shrinkage, water absorption, and flexural strength. The results confirmed that red mud can reduce the volumetric instabilities through the complementarity of red mud and ferroalloy slag. The crystal phases in the ceramics are all pyroxene group minerals, including diopside ferrian, augite, and diopside. 5Approximate Iteration Detection and Precoding in Massive MIMO显示文摘Massive multiple-input multiple-output provides improved energy efficiency and spectral efficiency in 5 G. However it requires large-scale matrix computation with tremendous complexity, especially for data detection and precoding. Recently, many detection and precoding methods were proposed using approximate iteration methods, which meet the demand of precision with low complexity. In this paper, we compare these approximate iteration methods in precision and complexity, and then improve these methods with iteration refinement at the cost of little complexity and no extra hardware resource. By derivation, our proposal is a combination of three approximate iteration methods in essence and provides remarkable precision improvement on desired vectors. The results show that our proposal provides 27%-83% normalized mean-squared error improvement of the detection symbol vector and precoding symbol vector. Moreover, we find the bit-error rate is mainly controlled by soft-input soft-output Viterbi decoding when using approximate iteration methods. Further, only considering the effect on soft-input soft-output Viterbi decoding, the simulation results show that using a rough estimation for the filter matrix of minimum mean square error detection to calculating log-likelihood ratio could provideenough good bit-error rate performance, especially when the ratio of base station antennas number and the users number is not too large.Chuan Tang Yerong Tao Yancang Chen Cang Liu Luechao Yuan Zuocheng Xing 2018China Communications2018,15,5:5
6Preparation of hydro-sodalite from fly ash using a hydrothermal method with a submolten salt system and study of the phase transition process显示文摘Hydro-sodalites are zeolitic materials with a wide variety of applications.Fly ash is an abundant industrial solid waste,rich in silicon and aluminum,from which hydro-sodalite can be synthesized.However,traditional hydrothermal synthesis methods are complex and cannot produce high-purity products.Therefore,there is a demand for processing routes to obtain high-purity hydro-sodalites.In the present study,high-purity hydro-sodalite(90.2 wt%)was prepared from fly ash by applying a hydrothermal method to a submolten salt system.Samples were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),thermogravimetry and differential thermal analysis(TG–DTA),and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)to confirm and quantify conversion of the raw material into the product phase.Purity of the samples prepared with an H2O/Na OH mass ratio of 1.5 and an H2O/fly ash mass ratio of 10 was calculated and the conversion process of the product phase was studied.Crystallinity of the product was influenced more by the Na OH concentration,less by the H2O/fly ash mass ratio.The main reaction process of the system is that the Si O ions produced by dissolution of the vitreous body in the fly ash and Na+ions in the solution reacted on the destroyed mullite skeleton to produce hydro-sodalite.This processing route could help mitigate processing difficulties,while producing high-purity hydro-sodalite from fly ash.Yan-bing Zong Cheng-yu Zhao Wen-hui Chen Zhao-bo Liu Da-qiang Cang 2020International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2020,27,1:3
7Effect of Traditional Chinese Medicine plus narrow-band medium-wave ultraviolet B radiation on moderate-to-severe psoriasis vulgaris in a case series显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the efficacy and safety of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) therapy combined with ultraviolet B light therapy in the treatment of moderate-to-severe psoriasis. METHODS: Patients with moderate-to-severe psoriasis (skin lesion area > 10% of the body surface area) for 2 consecutive years were treated with TCM (oral and external use of herbal medicines, acupuncture, and herbal bathing) and narrow-band medium-wave ultraviolet B light treatment for 12 weeks. The treatment effect was evaluated based on the Psoriasis Area Severity Index (PASI), the achievement of a 50% reduction in the PASI (PASI50), the achievement of a 75% reduction in the PASI (PASI75), pruritus score, Dermatology Life Quality Index, and safety. RESULTS: A total of 95 outpatients were enrolled, and 92 subjects (96.8%) completed the 12-week treatment course. At baseline, the average proportion of the body surface area covered by skin lesions was 12.4%, and the average PASI was 17.7. All patients had previously been treated with conventional medicine (89.1% of patients received ultraviolet light treatment, 50.0% received glucocorticoids, and 21.7% received acitretin). After the 12-week treatment course, 22 patients (23.9%) achieved PASI75, and 43 (46.7%) achieved PASI50. The post-treatment pruritus score and Dermatology Life Quality Index of all treated patients were significantly lower than the respective baseline values (P < 0.0001). 8Silver nanoparticles-decorated and mesoporous silica coated single-walled carbon nanotubes with an enhanced antibacterial activity for killing drug-resistant bacteria显示文摘The mounting threat of antibiotic-resistant bacterial infections has made it imperative to develop innovative antibacterial strategies.Here we propose a novel antibacterial nanoplatform of silver nanoparticles-decorated and mesoporous silica coated single-walled carbon nanotubes constructed via a N-[3-(trimethoxysiltyl)propyl]ethylene diamine(TSD)-mediated method(SWCNTs@mSiO2-TSD@Ag).In this system,the outer mesoporous silica shells are able to improve the dispersibility of SWCNTs,which will increase their contact area with bacteria cell walls.Meanwhile,the large number of mesopores in silica layers act as microreactors for in situ synthesis of Ag NPs with controlled small size and uniform distribution,which induces an enhanced antibacterial activity.Compared with TSD modified mesoporous silica coated single-walled carbon nanotubes(SWCNTs@mSiO2-TSD)and commercialAg NPs,this combination nanosystem of SWCNTs@mSiO2-TSD@Ag exhibits much stronger antibacterial performance against multi-drug-resistant bacteria Escherichia coli(E.coli)and Staphylococcus aureus(S.aureus)in vitro through damaging the bacterial cell membranes and a fast release of silver ions.Furthermore,the in vivo rat skin infection model verifies that SWCNTS@mSiO2-TSD@Ag have remarkably improved abilities of bacterial clearance,wound healing promoting as well as outstanding biocompatibility.Therefore,this novel nanoplatform indicates promising potentials as a safe and powerful tool for the treatment of clinical drug-resistant infections.Yu Zhu Jia Xu Yanmao Wang Cang Chen Hongchen Gu Yimin Chai Yao Wang 2020Nano Research2020,13,2:2
9Variation in individual biomass decreases faster than mean biomass with increasing density of bamboo stands显示文摘The total biomass of a stand is an indicator of stand productivity and is closely related to the density of plants. According to the self-thinning law, mean individual biomass follows a negative power law with plant density. If the variance of individual biomass is constant, we can expect increased stand productivity with increasing plant density. However, Taylor's power law(TPL) that relates the variance and the mean of many biological measures(e.g. bilateral areal differences of a leaf, plant biomass atdifferent times, developmental rates at different temperatures, population densities on different spatial or temporal scales), affects the estimate of stand productivity when it is defined as the total biomass of large plants in a stand.Because the variance of individual biomass decreases faster than mean individual biomass, differences in individual biomass decline with increasing density, leading to more homogeneous timbers of greater economic value. We tested whether TPL in plant biomass holds for different species and whether the variance of individual biomass changes faster than the mean with increasing stand density.The height, ground diameter and fresh weight of 50 bamboo species were measured in 50 stands ranging from 1 m by 1 m to 30 m by 30 m to ensure more than 150 bamboos in every stand. We separately examined TPL in height,ground diameter, and weight, and found that TPL holds for all three biological measures, with the relationship strongest for weight. Using analysis of covariance to compare the regression slopes of logarithmic mean and variance against the logarithm of density, we found that the variance in individual biomass declined faster than the mean with increasing density. This suggests that dense planting reduced mean individual biomass but homogenized individual biomass. Thus, there exists a trade-off between effective stand productivity and stand density for optimal forest management. Sparse planting leads to large variation in individual biomass, whereas dense planting reduces mean individual biomass. 11A method for calculating the center position of collimated light显示文摘It is a key problem to accurately calculate beam spots' center of measuring the warp by using a collimated laser. A new method, named double geometrical center method (DGCM), is put forward for the first time. In this method, a plane wave perpendicularly irradiates an aperture stop, and a charge couple device (CCD) is employed to receive the diffraction-beam spots, then the geometrical centers of the first and the second diffraction-beam spots are calculated respectively, and their mean value is regarded as the center of datum beam. In face of such adverse instances as laser intension distributing defectively, part of the image being saturated, this method can still work well. What's more, this method can detect whether an unacceptable error exits in the courses of image receiving, processing and calculating. 13Novel method for improving iron recovery from electric arc furnace slag: on-site hot modification显示文摘The iron element in electric arc furnace(EAF)slag is extremely difficult to recycle due to the low specific magnetic susceptibility of the RO phase(a solid solution of FeO,MgO,CaO,and MnO).Landfilling EAF slag is strictly forbidden for environmental consideration because of poisonous Cr^(6+) leaching.The original RO phase could be transformed to a spinel structure,whose specific magnetic susceptibility is much higher than that of other minerals,through hot modification,resulting in significantly increased iron recovery by magnetic separation.Precipitation of spinel crystals encloses chromium,such that iron and chromium could be recovered simultaneously.The chromium in obtained iron concentrates is considerably useful for stainless steel making rather than polluting the environment.As a result,recovering iron and chromium is truly beneficial for cleaner production.Hot modification of EAF slag should be conducted at 1500-1600ºC for at least 60 min to guarantee homogeneous liquid slag.The liquid slag was poured onto an iron mold to obtain modified slag(MS)through air quenching.MS was characterized by thermodynamic analysis,X-ray diffraction,and scanning electron microscopy combined with energy-dispersive spectroscopy to correlate the relationship between mineral structures and iron recovery.The iron recovery rate of MS first increased and then decreased with increasing modifier.It was less than 10%when the modifier addition amount was below 12 wt.%,but it increased rapidly as the modifier addition amount increased from 16 to 24 wt.%,mainly due to spinel formation.The highest iron recovery rate was 81.9%when the modifier amount reached 20 wt.%.Meanwhile,Cr^(6+) was enriched in the spinel phase but was not observed in other minerals.Industrial tests were performed on-site with the modifier ranging from 12 to 18 wt.%because additional heat was not provided during the tests.Results showed that MS with 18 wt.%modifier addition exhibited an iron recovery rate of 61.0%,much higher than that(34.6%)of the original slag.Xiang Lu Xiao-li Huang Ru-fei Wei Wen Chen Da-qiang Cang Fei-hua Yang Chun-lei Pu 2022Journal of Iron and Steel Research(International)2022,29,8:1
