2Asian summer monsoon precipitation recorded by stalagmite oxygen isotopic composition in the western Loess Plateau during AD1875―2003 and its linkage with ocean-atmosphere system显示文摘Based on 5 high-precision 230Th dates and 103 stable oxygen isotope ratios (δ18O) obtained from the top 16 mm of a stalagmite collected from Wanxiang Cave,Wudu,Gansu,variation of monsoonal precipita-tion in the modern Asian Monsoon (AM) marginal zone over the past 100 years was reconstructed. Comparison of the speleothem δ18O record with instrumental precipitation data at Wudu in the past 50 years indicates a high parallelism between the two curves,suggesting that the speleothem δ18O is a good proxy for the AM strength and associated precipitation,controlled by 'amount effect' of the pre-cipitation. Variation of the monsoonal precipitation during the past 100 years can be divided into three stages,increasing from AD 1875 to 1900,then decreasing from AD 1901 to 1946,and increasing again thereafter. This variation is quite similar to that of the Drought/Flooding index archived from Chinese historical documents. This speleothem-derived AM record shows a close association with the Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO) between AD 1875 and 1977,with higher monsoonal precipitation corre-sponding to cold PDO phase and vice versa at decadal timescale. The monsoonal precipitation varia-tion is out of phase with the PDO after AD 1977,probably resulting from the decadal climate jump in the north Pacific occurring at around AD 1976/77. These results demonstrate a strong linkage between the AM and associated precipitation and the Pacific Ocean via ocean/atmosphere interaction. 3Implications of stalagmite density for past climate change:An example from stalagmite growth during the last deglaciation from Wanxiang Cave,western Loess Plateau显示文摘The density of a stalagmite(WX42A)from Wanxiang Cave,Wudu County,Gansu Province,China,in the western margin of the Asian summer monsoon region,presents regular fluctuations in different deposition periods during the last deglaciation.Over long timescales,high-precision 230Th dating and high-resolution stalagmite density data indicate that the density-time series between 17644 a BP and 12758 a BP is quite similar to the stalagmite δ18O record which reflects Asian monsoon intensity.Strengthening/weakening(lighter/heavier stalagmite δ18O values)of the Asian monsoon is accompanied by increase/decrease in stalagmite density.Over short timescales,decrease in stalagmite density correlates to monsoon-retreat events such as the Inter-AllerФd Cold Period(IACP),Older Dryas(OD)and Inter-BФlling Cold Period(IBCP).Generally,this kind of decrease in stalagmite density reflects precipitation decrease with weakening of the Asian monsoon,which in turn slows cave dripwater rate and decreases crystal nuclei,leading to enlargement of calcite crystals,weakened biological activity and decreased soil pCO2 which increases the abundance of impure detrital materials in stalagmites.However,during the period of large amplitude reduction of precipitation and biological activity which resulted from extreme monsoon-retreat events,temperature variation would dominate fluctuation of stalagmite density.For example,stalagmite density increased suddenly when temperature dropped suddenly in the north Atlantic during Heinrich event 1(H-1).This may be caused by low seepage water temperature,more dissolved calcium carbonate,compact regular crystals forming under higher supersaturation,leading to the stalagmite increased density.Stalagmite density fluctuation sensitively recorded stalagmite growth history and environment,demonstrating that stalagmite density can be used as a proxy for paleoclimatic research.ZHANG DeZhong ZHANG PingZhong SANG WenCui CHENG Hai WU XiuPing YUAN Ye BAI YiJun WANG JiangLin JIA JiHong 2010Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,34:7

5PagGRF12a interacts with PagGIF1b to regulate secondary xylem development through modulating PagXND1a expression in Populus alba×P.glandulosa显示文摘Growth-regulating factors(GRFs)are important regulators of plant development and growth,but their possible roles in xylem development in woody plants remain unclear.Here,we report that Populus alba×Papulus glandulosa PagGRF12a negatively regulates xylem development in poplar.PagGRF12a is expressed in vascular tissues.Compared to non-transgenic control plants,transgenic poplar plants overexpressing PagGRF12a exhibited reduced xylem width and plants with repressed expression of PagGRF12a exhibited increased xylem width.Xylem NAC domain 1(XND1)encodes a NAC domain transcription factor that regulates xylem development and transcriptional analyses revealed that PagXND1a is highly upregulated in PagGRF12a-overexpressing plants and downregulated in PagGRF12a-suppressed plants,indicating that PagGRF12a may regulate xylem development through PagXND1a.Transient transcriptional assays and chromatin immunoprecipitation-polymerase chain reaction assays confirmed that PagGRF12a directly upregulates PagXND1a.In addition,PagGRF12a interacts with the GRF-Interacting Factor(GIF)PagGIF1b,and this interaction enhances the effects of PagGRF12a on PagXND1a.Our results indicate that PagGRF12a inhibits xylem development by upregulating the expression of PagXND1a.Jinnan Wang Houjun Zhou Yanqiu Zhao Cheng Jiang Jihong Li Fang Tang Yingli Liu Shutang Zhao Jianjun Hu Xueqin Song MengZhu Lu 2021Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2021,63,10:3

7Lidar observation campaigns on diurnal variations of the sodium layer in Beijing and Wuhan, China显示文摘Based on observations from daytime lidars in eastern China,diurnal cycles of the sodium layer over Wuhan(30.5°N,114.6°E)and Beijing(40.5°N,116°E)are investigated.Diurnal variations of Na density,root mean square(RMS)layer width,and centroid height of the sodium layer are analyzed.Results reveal that the large diurnal cycles of the sodium layer are controlled mainly by 24-hr oscillations at the two observation sites.The diurnal variation of the sodium layer over Wuhan was modulated mainly by tidal perturbations during the lidar observation campaign.Conversely,the diurnal variation over Beijing was controlled principally by photoionization and photochemistry effects during another campaign,and there was little evidence of direct tidal perturbations.These comparisons suggest that the diurnal variation of the sodium layer perhaps has obvious regional characteristics across China.The variation can be either controlled mainly by tidal perturbations or by photoionization and photochemistry effects in different seasons.GONG ShaoHua YANG GuoTao CHENG XueWu GONG Shun Sheng XU JiYao LI FaQuan GONG Wei WANG JiHong 2015Science China Earth Sciences2015,58,8:2
8Joint observation results of Na layer and ionosphere in Wuhan during the Total Solar Eclipse显示文摘During the total solar eclipse on July 22, 2009 in Wuhan, the joint observation test of Na layer and ionosphere was conducted by using the daytime observation atmospheric lidar and the GPS ionosphere detector. The results show that the full width at half maximum(FWHM) of Na layer density slightly narrowed during the total solar eclipse and broadened after the eclipse, while the height of Na peak slightly decreased in the eclipse and increased after the eclipse. These implying that Na layer changes reflect the rapid process of sunrise and sunset. The ionosphere total electron content(TEC) and the sky background light noise also presented an obvious fluctuation characteristic with the changes of solar irradiation during the process of total solar eclipse. The difference lies in that the changes of FWHM of Na layer atoms are much slower than that of ionosphere, the reason for this might be that the Na layer, after being disturbed by the total solar eclipse, will generate a series of complicated photochemical reactions and momentum transport processes, and then recombine the Na atoms. 13Enhancement of red upconversion emission intensity of Ho^(3+) ions in NaLuF4:Yb^(3+)/Ho^(3+)/Ce^(3+)@NaLuF_(4) core-shell nanoparticles显示文摘The red upconversion emission of Ho^(3+)ions,in the optical window of biological tissue,exhibits excellent prospects in biological applications.This study aims to enhance the red upconversion emission intensity of Ho^(3+)ions in NaLuF_(4):20%Yb^(3+)/2%Ho^(3+)/12%Ce^(3+) nanoparticles through building different core–shell structures with different excitation wavelengths.A significantly enhanced red upconversion emission with a higher red-to-green ratio was successfully obtained in NaLuF_(4):20%Yb^(3+)/2%Ho^(3+)/12%Ce^(3+)@NaLuF_(4) core–shell nanoparticles by introducing the Yb^(3+)and Yb^(3+)/Nd^(3+)ions into the NaLuF_(4) shell,with enhancement of the red emission occurring when Yb^(3+)and Nd^(3+)ions in the shell transfer more excitation energy to the Ho^(3+)ions.Investigation of the red emission enhancement mechanism is based on spectral characteristics and lifetimes.We examined the synergistic effect of dual-wavelength co-excitation NaLuF_(4):20%Yb^(3+)/2%Ho^(3+)/12%Ce^(3+)@NaLuF_(4):10%Yb^(3+)/15%Nd^(3+)core–shell nanoparticles to establish optimal excitation conditions.It is hoped that this method,using red upconversion emission core–shell nanoparticles with multi-mode excitation,can provide new ways to expand the applications of rare-earth luminescent materials in biomedicine and anti-counterfeiting.Wei Gao Xiaotong Cheng Yu Xing Shanshan Han Binhui Chen Qingyan Han Xuewen Yan Jihong Liu Lin Liu Jun Dong 2022Journal of Rare Earths2022,40,4:1

20Effects of Long-term Site-specific Fertilization on Soil Physical and Chemical Properties and Nutrients in Dry Farmland显示文摘In order to investigate the variation in soil physical and chemical properties and nutrients in the mountainous areas in southern Ningxia, and to provide a theoretical basis for fertilization management in local farmland, the soil p H, total salt content,crop root length, root weight, soil organic matter, available nitrogen, total nitrogen, total phosphorous and total potassium in different fertilization treatments were measured from 2010 to 2016. Multiple comparisons of the data were performed using Duncan's new multiple range test. The results indicated that in the 0-20 cm soil layer, soil p H value and total salt content changed in different patterns, and varied greatly from 2010 to 2016(P<0.05). The changes of both root length and root weight of millet over time fitted S-shaped curves. The root length and root weight in the four fertilization treatments(Treatment 2 to Treatment5) increased faster than those in the control(Treatment 1). The soil organic matter content in all the five treatments gradually increased from 2010 to 2016. The content of alkaline hydrolyzable nitrogen in soil rapidly increased in the first two to three years of the experiment, followed by a slow increase or decrease in 2013, and then raised rapidly again from 2014 to 2016.The soil total nitrogen content varied significantly from 2010 to 2016. The total phosphorus content in soil changed in a different pattern from that of total nitrogen content.
