1In vivo theranostics with near-infraredemitting carbon dots—highly efficient photothermal therapy based on passive targeting after intravenous administration显示文摘Carbon dots that exhibit near-infrared fluorescence(NIR CDs)are considered emerging nanomaterials for advanced biomedical applications with low toxicity and superior photostability and targeting compared to currently used photoluminescence agents.Despite progress in the synthesis of NIR CDs,there remains a key obstacle to using them as an in vivo theranostic agent.This work demonstrates that the newly developed sulfur and nitrogen codoped NIR CDs are highly efficient in photothermal therapy(PTT)in mouse models(conversion efficiency of 59%)and can be readily visualized by photoluminescence and photoacoustic imaging.The real theranostic potential of NIR CDs is enhanced by their unique biodistribution and targeting.Contrary to all other nanomaterials that have been tested in biomedicine,they are excreted through the body’s renal filtration system.Moreover,after intravenous injection,NIR CDs are accumulated in tumor tissue via passive targeting,without any active species such as antibodies.Due to their accumulation in tumor tissue without the need for intratumor injection,high photothermal conversion,excellent optical and photoacoustic imaging performance,and renal excretion,the developed CDs are suitable for transfer to clinical biomedical practice.Xin Bao Ye Yuan Jingqin Chen Bohan Zhang Di Li Ding Zhou Pengtao Jing Guiying Xu Yingli Wang Kateřina Holá Dezhen Shen Changfeng Wu Liang Song Chengbo Liu Radek Zbořil Songnan Qu 2018Light(Science & Applications)2018,7,1:13

3Empowering fall webworm surveillance with mobile phone-based community monitoring: a case study in northern China显示文摘Recent advances in information and communication technologies, such as mobile Internet and smartphones, have created new paradigms for participatory environment monitoring. The ubiquitous mobile phones with capabilities such as a global positioning system,camera, and network access, offer opportunities to establish distributed monitoring networks that can perform a wide range of measurements for a landscape. This study examined the potential of mobile phone-based community monitoring of fall webworm(Hyphantria cunea Drury).We built a prototype of a participatory fall webworm monitoring system based on mobile devices that streamlined data collection, transmission, and visualization. We also assessed the accuracy and reliability of the data collected by the local community. The system performance was evaluated at the Ziya commune of Tianjin municipality in northern China, where fall webworm infestation has occurred. The local community provided data with accuracy comparable to expert measurements(Willmott's index of agreement>0.85). 8Mannan oligosaccharides alleviate oxidative injury in the head kidney and spleen in grass carp(Ctenopharyngodon idella)via the Nrf2 signaling pathway after Aeromonas hydrophila infection显示文摘Background Mannan oligosaccharides(MOS)are recommended as aquaculture additives owing to their excellent antioxidant properties.In the present study,we examined the effects of dietary MOS on the head kidney and spleen of grass carp(Ctenopharyngodon idella)with Aeromonas hydrophila infection.Methods A total of 540 grass carp were used for the study.They were administered six gradient dosages of the MOS diet(0,200,400,600,800,and 1,000 mg/kg)for 60 d.Subsequently,we performed a 14-day Aeromonas hydrophila challenge experiment.The antioxidant capacity of the head kidney and spleen were examined using spectrophotometry,DNA fragmentation,qRT-PCR,and Western blotting.Results After infection with Aeromonas hydrophila,400-600 mg/kg MOS supplementation decreased the levels of reactive oxygen species,protein carbonyl,and malonaldehyde and increased the levels of anti-superoxide anion,antihydroxyl radical,and glutathione in the head kidney and spleen of grass carp.The activities of copper-zinc superoxide dismutase,manganese superoxide dismutase,catalase,glutathione S-transferase,glutathione reductase,and glutathione peroxidase were also enhanced by supplementation with 400-600 mg/kg MOS.Furthermore,the expression of most antioxidant enzymes and their corresponding genes increased significantly with supplementation of 200-800 mg/kg MOS.mRNA and protein levels of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 also increased following supplementation with 400-600 mg/kg MOS.In addition,supplementation with 400-600 mg/kg MOS reduced excessive apoptosis by inhibiting the death receptor pathway and mitochondrial pathway processes.Conclusions Based on the quadratic regression analysis of the above biomarkers(reactive oxygen species,malondialdehyde,and protein carbonyl)of oxidative damage in the head kidney and spleen of on-growing grass carp,the recommended MOS supplementation is 575.21,557.58,531.86,597.35,570.16,and 553.80 mg/kg,respectively.Collectively,MOS supplementation could alleviate oxidative injury in the head kidney and spleen of grass carp infected with Aeromonas hydrophila.Zhiyuan Lu Lin Feng Weidan Jiang Pei Wu Yang Liu Jun Jiang Shengyao Kuang Ling Tang Shuwei Li Chengbo Zhong Xiaoqiu Zhou 2023Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2023,14,4:0
9The Importance of Digital Elevation Model Selection in Flood Simulation and a Proposed Method to Reduce DEM Errors:A Case Study in Shanghai显示文摘Digital Elevation Models(DEMs)play a critical role in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling.Flood inundation mapping is highly dependent on the accuracy of DEMs.Various vertical differences exist among open access DEMs as they use various observation satellites and algorithms.The problem is particularly acute in small,flat coastal cities.Thus,it is necessary to assess the differences of the input of DEMs in flood simulation and to reduce anomalous errors of DEMs.In this study,we first conducted urban flood simulation in the Huangpu River Basin in Shanghai by using the LISFLOOD-FP hydrodynamic model and six open-access DEMs(SRTM,MERIT,CoastalDEM,GDEM,NASADEM,and AW3D30),and analyzed the differences in the results of the flood inundation simulations.Then,we processed the DEMs by using two statistically based methods and compared the results with those using the original DEMs.The results show that:(1)the flood inundation mappings using the six original DEMs are significantly different under the same simulation conditions—this indicates that only using a single DEM dataset may lead to bias of flood mapping and is not adequate for high confidence analysis of exposure and flood management;and(2)the accuracy of a DEM corrected by the Dixon criterion for predicting inundation extent is improved,in addition to reducing errors in extreme water depths—this indicates that the corrected datasets have some performance improvement in the accuracy of flood simulation.A freely available,accurate,high-resolution DEM is needed to support robust flood mapping.Flood-related researchers,practitioners,and other stakeholders should pay attention to the uncertainty caused by DEM quality.Kepeng Xu Jiayi Fang Yongqiang Fang Qinke Sun Chengbo Wu Min Liu 2021International Journal of Disaster Risk Science2021,12,6:0
10REAL-TIME FLUORESCENCE IMAGING OF SIRT1 CYTOSOLIC TRANSLOCATION UNDER THE TREATMENT OF GROWTH FACTOR DEPRIVATION显示文摘Sirtuins comprise a family of enzymes implicated in the determination of organismal lifespan in yeast and the nematode.Human sirtuin SIRT1 has been shown to deacetylate several proteins in a NADt-dependent manner.It is reported that SIRT1 regulates physiological processes including senescence,fat metabolism,glucose homeostasis,apoptosis,and neurodegeneration.In general,SIRT1 has initially been thought to represent an exclusive nuclear protein.However,depending on the cell lines and organisms examined,a partial or temporary cytoplasmic localization was observed in murine pancreatic beta cells and neonatal rat cardiomyocytes.Since SIRT1 deacetylates both histone and nonhistone-proteins,such as a number of transcription factors,changes in subcellular localization probably play a role in the regulation of its function.In the present studies,we investigated the subcellular localization of SIRT1 in response to growth factor deprivation in African green monkey SV40-transformed kidneyfibroblast cells(COS-7).Using SIRT1-EGFPfluorescence reporter,we found that SIRT1 localized to nucleus in physiological conditions.We devised a model enabling cell senescence via growth factor deprivation and found that SIRT1 partially translocated to cytosol under the treatment,suggesting a reduced level of SIRT1 activity.We found PI3K/Akt pathway was involved in the inhibition of SIRT1's cytosolic translocation,because inhibition of these kinases significantly decreased the amount of SIRT1 maintained in nucleus.Taken together,we demonstrate that growth factor deprivation induces cytosolic translocation of SIRT1,which suggests a possible connection between cytoplasm-localized SIRT1 and the aging process and provides a new application of single moleculefluorescence imaging of the molecule events in living cells.CHENGBO MENG SHENGNAN WU DA XING 2011Journal of Innovative Optical Health Sciences2011,4,2:0
