2Ultrahigh performance concrete–properties, applications and perspectives显示文摘Over the last twenty years,remarkable advances have taken place in the research and application of ultra-high performance concrete(UHPC),which exhibits outstanding mechanical properties and excellent durability.It has shown great potential for the next generation infrastructure construction from the sustainability point of view.This paper will give an overview on UHPC,with particular focus on the properties,applications and perspectives.After several decades of development,several types of commercial UHPC materials are available in the market,and the properties of UHPC have been characterized by numerous experimental and field tests.Generally speaking,the performance(e.g.mechanical properties and durability)of UHPC is much better than normal concrete(NC)and high performance concrete(HPC).Therefore,the uses of UHPC are growing all over the world,in both fields of new construction and retrofitting.Nevertheless,it is still a special material and technology,which is not worldwide accepted.So some application prospects of UHPC are briefly introduced in the paper,and the efforts,which have to be made to turn UHPC into a widespread‘regular’technology,are discussed.This paper aims to help designers,engineers,architects and infrastructure owners to know the capacities of UHPC and thus to increase the applications of this material.GU Chun Ping YE Guang SUN Wei 2015Science China(Technological Sciences)2015,58,4:28

5Mass transfer model,preparation and applications of zeolite membranes for pervaporation dehydration:A review显示文摘Pervaporation(including vapor permeation) is a kind of new membrane separation technology, possessing the advantages of high efficiency, energy saving and convenient operation. It has promising application in the separation and purification of organic solvents. Dehydration is an important step in the production and recovery of organic solvents. Zeolite membranes have attracted wide attention for pervaporation dehydration due to their high separation performance and good thermal/chemical stability. So far, zeolite membranes have been preliminarily industrialized for dehydration of organic solvents. This paper reviews the recent development of zeolite membranes for pervaporation dehydration, including mass transfer models, preparation and applications of zeolite membranes. 9Combination of mild therapeutic hypothermia and adipose-derived stem cells for ischemic brain injury显示文摘Mild therapeutic hypothermia has been shown to mitigate cerebral ischemia, reduce cerebral edema, and improve the prognosis of patients with cerebral ischemia. Adipose-derived stem cell-based therapy can decrease neuronal death and infiltration of inflammatory cells, exerting a neuroprotective effect. We hypothesized that the combination of mild therapeutic hypothermia and adipose-derived stem cells would be neuroprotective for treatment of stroke. A rat model of transient middle cerebral artery occlusion was established using the nylon monofilament method. Mild therapeutic hypothermia(33°C) was induced after 2 hours of ischemia. Adipose-derived stem cells were administered through the femoral vein during reperfusion. The severity of neurological dysfunction was measured by a modified Neurological Severity Score Scaling System. The area of the infarct lesion was determined by 2,3,5-triphenyltetrazolium chloride staining. Apoptotic neurons were detected by terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated d UTP-biotin nick end labeling(TUNEL) staining. The regeneration of microvessels and changes in the glial scar were detected by immunofluorescence staining. The inflammatory responses after ischemic brain injury were evaluated by in situ staining using markers of inflammatory cells. The expression of inflammatory cytokines was measured by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction. Compared with mild therapeutic hypothermia or adipose-derived stem cell treatment alone, their combination substantially improved neurological deficits and decreased infarct size. They synergistically reduced the number of TUNEL-positive cells and glial fibrillary acidic protein expression, increased vascular endothelial growth factor levels, effectively reduced inflammatory cell infiltration and down-regulated the m RNA expression of the proinflammatory cytokines interleukin-1β, tumor necrosis factor-α and interleukin-6. 10Development and Application of Lightning Protection Technologies in Power Grids of China显示文摘In recent years,along with the rapid expansion of power grids,the increasing complication of grid structures,and the development of smart grids and energy technologies,the lightning protection of power grids becomes increasingly prominent.Power grids of China have acquired significant achievements on lightning protection technologies,which are reviewed in this paper.A technical route of lightning protection is introduced in detail; it allows us to find problems through detection and measurement of lightning,to analyze problems through evaluation and simulation of lightning,to solve problems through lightning protection measures,and to prevent problems through hazard risk warning of lightning.Following the route,the technical breakthroughs of these four aspects in China are presented,including the chinese lightning detection network(CLDN),natural lightning observations,lightning faults detection at transmission lines,lightning current measurements,progresses in lightning distribution maps,lightning fault replays,lightning hazard risk evaluations,and lightning simulated experiments,as well as novel lightning protection measures.The practical devices and systems corresponding to the technologies mentioned above are also introduced and discussed.Due to the progress of lightning protection technologies in recent years,despite the rapidly growing length of transmission lines in China,the lightning accident rate is controlled at a certain level.GU Shanqiang CHEN Jiahong FENG Wanxing ZHAO Chun FANG Yuhe LI Tao 2013高电压技术2013,39,10:8
11The internalization pathway,metabolic fate and biological effect of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles in the macrophage-like RAW264.7 cell显示文摘The potential applications of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) in several nanomedical fields have attracted intense interest based on the cell-nano interaction. However, the mechanisms underlying cell uptake, the intracellular trail, final fate and the biological effects of SPIONs have not yet been clearly elucidated. Here, we showed that multiple endocytic pathways were involved in the internalization process of SPIONs in the RAW264.7 macrophage. The internalized SPIONs were biocompatible and used three different metabolic pathways: The SPIONs were distributed to daughter cells during mitosis; they were degraded in the lysosome and free iron was released into the intracellular iron metabolic pool; and, the intact SPIONs were potentially exocytosed out of the cells. The internalized SPIONs did not induce cell damage but affected iron metabolism, inducing the upregulation of ferritin light chain at both the mRNA and protein levels and ferroportin 1 at the mRNA level. 13Evaluation of hollow fiber T-type zeolite membrane modules for ethanol dehydration显示文摘This work presents the design of hollow fiber T-type zeolite membrane modules with different geometric configurations. The module performances were evaluated by pervaporation dehydration of ethanol/water mixtures. Strong concentration polarization was found for the modules with big membrane bundles. The concentration polarization was enhanced at high temperature due to the higher water permeation flux. The increase of feed flow could improve water permeation flux for the membrane modules with small membrane bundle.Computational fluid dynamics was used to visualize the flow field distribution inside of the modules with different configurations. The membrane module with seven bundles exhibited highest separation efficiency due to the uniform distribution of flow rate. The packing density could be 10 times higher than that of the tubular membrane module. 14Angiographic follow-up of cerebral aneurysms treated with Guglielmi detachable coils(GDCs): An analysis of 162 cases of 173 aneurysms显示文摘Objective To evaluate the mid- and long-term radiological outcomes of cerebral aneurysms with GDCs embolization.Methods One hundred and sixty-two patients with 173 aneurysms embolized with GDCs underwent angiographic follow-up from 1 to 54 months post-operatively and were retrospectively reviewed. Three neuro-radiologists reviewed each angiogram and made a comparison between initial and follow-up angiograms. Morphological outcomes were evaluated as follows: unchanged; progressive thrombosis; and re-opening or re-growth. Results Of 173 aneurysms with GDC embolization, 142 aneutysms had total or nearly total occlusion, 23 subtotal occlusion and 8 partial occlusion shown on initial angiograms. The incidence of re-opening was 17.1% (13/76) in less than 3 months, and 6.2% (6/97) between 3 and 6 months postoperatively. Four aneurysms showed recurrency(2.3%) on second follow-up angiography in one year after procedure and one-year cumulative recurrent rate was 13.3% of 56 aneurysms with the third follow-up angiography in the post-operation period of 12 to 54 months, four showed a little enlargement and the cmnulative recurrent rate so far was 20.2% (35/173). Conclusions The direct and main causes for aneurysmal recurrence are incomplete and loosening packing. The first angiographic follow-up is recommended to be performed at 3 months or earlier after the procedure, especially in aneurysms with initial incomplete occlusion. 15A New Cytotoxic Compound from Penicillium auratiogriseum, Symbiotic or Epiphytic Fungus of Sponge Mycale plumose显示文摘A new compound, (S)-2, 4-dihydroxy-1-butyl (4-hydroxy) benzoate (1), and a known compound, fructigenines A (2), were isolated from fungus Penicillium auratiogriseum derived from sponge Mycale plumose, by bioassay-guided fractionation. Their structures were established by spectroscopic and chemical methods. 16Self-starting passively mode-locked all fiber laser based on carbon nanotubes with radially polarized emission显示文摘We demonstrate an all fiber passively mode-locked laser emitting a radially polarized beam by using a few-mode fiber Bragg grating to achieve mode selection and spectrum filtering. An offset splicing of single-mode fiber with four-mode fiber is utilized as a mode coupler in the laser cavity. Carbon nanotubes are introduced into the laser cavity as the saturable absorber to achieve self-start mode locking. The laser operates at 1547.5 nm with a narrow spectrum width of 0.3 nm at 30 d B. The emitted mode-locked pulses have a duration of 22.73 ps and repetition of10.61 MHz. 17Effect of experimental warming on soil respiration under conventional tillage and no-tillage farmland in the North China Plain显示文摘Understanding the response of soil respiration to global warming in agro-ecosystem is crucial for simulating terrestrial carbon(C) cycle.We conducted an infrared warming experiment under conventional tillage(CT) and no-tillage(NT) farmland for winter wheat and summer maize rotation system in North China Plain(NCP).Treatments include CT with and without warming(CTW and CTN),NT with and without warming(NTW and NTN).The results indicated that warming had no significant effect on soil moisture in irrigated farmland of NCP(P>0.05).The elevated average soil temperature of 1.1-1.6°C in crop growing periods could increase annual soil CO_2 emission by 10.3%in CT filed(P>0.05),but significantly increase it by 12.7%in NT field(P<0.05),respectively.The disturbances such as plowing,irrigation and precipitation resulted in the obvious soil CO_2 emission peaks,which contributed 36.6-40.8%of annual soil cumulative CO_2 emission.Warming would enhance these soil CO_2 emission peaks;it might be associated with the warming-induced increase of autotrophic respiration and heterotrophic respiration.Compared with un-warming treatments,dissolved organic carbon(DOC) and soil microbial biomass carbon(MBC) in warming treatments were significantly increased by 11.6-23.4 and 12.9-23.6%,respectively,indicating that the positive responses of DOC and MBC to warming in both of two tillage systems.Our study highlights that climate warming may have positive effects on soil C release in NCP in association with response of labile C substrate to warming.TU Chun LI Fa-dong QIAO Yun-feng ZHU Nong GU Cong-ke ZHAO Xin 2017Journal of Integrative Agriculture2017,16,4:6
18Finite element response sensitivity analysis of three-dimensional soil-foundation-structure interaction (SFSI) systems显示文摘The nonlinear finite element(FE) analysis has been widely used in the design and analysis of structural or geotechnical systems.The response sensitivities(or gradients) to the model parameters are of significant importance in these realistic engineering problems.However the sensitivity calculation has lagged behind,leaving a gap between advanced FE response analysis and other research hotspots using the response gradient.The response sensitivity analysis is crucial for any gradient-based algorithms,such as reliability analysis,system identification and structural optimization.Among various sensitivity analysis methods,the direct differential method(DDM) has advantages of computing efficiency and accuracy,providing an ideal tool for the response gradient calculation.This paper extended the DDM framework to realistic complicated soil-foundation-structure interaction(SFSI) models by developing the response gradients for various constraints,element and materials involved.The enhanced framework is applied to three-dimensional SFSI system prototypes for a pilesupported bridge pier and a pile-supported reinforced concrete building frame structure,subjected to earthquake loading conditions.The DDM results are verified by forward finite difference method(FFD).The relative importance(RI) of the various material parameters on the responses of SFSI system are investigated based on the DDM response sensitivity results.The FFD converges asymptotically toward the DDM results,demonstrating the advantages of DDM(e.g.,accurate,efficient,insensitive to numerical noise).Furthermore,the RI and effects of the model parameters of structure,foundation and soil materials on the responses of SFSI systems are investigated by taking advantage of the sensitivity analysis results.The extension of DDM to SFSI systems greatly broaden the application areas of the d gradient-based algorithms,e.g.FE model updating and nonlinear system identification of complicated SFSI systems.Gu Quan Liu Yongdou Li Yong Lin Chun 2018Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Vibration2018,17,3:5
19Clinical Study on Suspension Pancreatic-Duct-Jejunum End-to-Side Continuous Suture Anastomosis in Pancreaticoduodenectomy显示文摘Objective To study the influence of Suspension Pancreatic-Duct-Jejunum End-to-Side Continuous Suture Anastomosis(SPDJCS) on the incidence of pancreatic fistula after pancreaticoduodenectomy,and to analyze its applicability,safety,and efficacies.Methods A prospective controlled trial was conducted with 165 cases receiving pancreaticoduodenectomy in the Department of Hepatopancreatobiliary Surgery from January 2010 to May 2012.The patients were divided into Group A(end-to-end/end-to-side invaginated anastomosis,n=52),Group B(end-to-side mucosal anastomosis,n=48),and Group C(SPDJCS,n=65).The preoperative data,intraoperative data,and operative outcomes(incidence of pancreatic fistula,operation time,intraoperative blood loss,peritoneal drainage,peritoneal hemorrhage,peritoneal abscess,delayed gastric emptying,pulmonary infection,postoperative infection,blood transfusion,and perioperative mortality) were compared among the 3 groups.Results The total incidence of pancreatic fistula was 13.9%(23/165) in all the 165 patients.The incidence in Group A and Group B was 23.1%(12/52) and 18.8%(9/48),both higher than that in Group C [3.1%(2/65),both P<0.05].Group C showed significantly better outcomes than group A and B in terms of the operation time(5.5±1.2 hours vs.6.1±1.1 hours,5.5±1.2 hours vs.6.3±1.5 hours),volume of blood loss(412.0±205.0 mL vs.525.0±217.0 mL,412.0±205.0 mL vs.514.0±217.0 mL),and postoperative drainage amount of plasma tubes(175.0±65.0 mL vs.275.0±80.0 mL,175.0±65.0 mL vs.255.0±75.0 mL)(all P<0.05),while Group A and Group B displayed no difference in these aspects(P>0.05).As complications other than pancreatic fistula were concerned,the three groups were not different from each other(P>0.05).Conclusions SPDJCS may have the effect of reducing the incidence of pancreatic fistula after pancreaticoduodenectomy.It could be safe,practical and convenient technique of anastomosis for pancreaticojejunostomy.Ke Dong Wei Xiong Xiao-jiong Yu Chun Gu 2013Chinese Medical Sciences Journal2013,28,1:5
20Accelerated evolution of an Lhx2 enhancer shapes mammalian social hierarchies显示文摘Social hierarchies emerged during evolution,and social rank influences behavior and health of individuals.However,the evolutionary mechanisms of social hierarchy are still unknown in amniotes.Here we developed a new method and performed a genome-wide screening for identifying regions with accelerated evolution in the ancestral lineage of placental mammals,where mammalian social hierarchies might have initially evolved.Then functional analyses were conducted for the most accelerated region designated as placental-accelerated sequence 1(PAS1,P=3.15 × 10^-18).Multiple pieces of evidence show that PAS1 is an enhancer of the transcription factor gene Lhx2 involved in brain development.PAS1s isolated from various amniotes showed different c/s-regulatory activity in vitro,and affected the expression of Lhx2 differently in the nervous system of mouse embryos.PAS1 knock-out mice lack social stratification.PAS1 knock-in mouse models demonstrate that PAS1s determine the social dominance and subordinate of adult mice,and that social ranks could even be turned over by mutated PAS1.All homozygous mutant mice had normal huddled sleeping behavior,motor coordination and strength.Therefore,PAS1-Lhx2 modulates social hierarchies and is essential for establishing social stratification in amniotes,and positive Darwinian selection on PAS1 plays pivotal roles in the occurrence of mammalian social hierarchies.Yuting Wang Guangyi Dai Zhili Gu Guopeng Liu Ke Tang Yi-Hsuan Pan Yujie Chen Xin Lin Nan Wu Haoshan Chen Su Feng Shou Qiu Hongduo Sun Qian Li Chuan Xu Yanan Mao Yong Edward Zhang Philipp Khaitovich Yan-Ling Wang Qunxiu Liu Jing-Dong Jackie Han Zhen Shao Gang Wei Chun Xu Naihe Jing Haipeng Li 2020Cell Research2020,30,5:4
