| 1 | Towards maximized utilization of iridium for the acidic oxygen evolution reaction显示文摘The reduction in noble metal content for efficient oxygen evolution catalysis is a crucial aspect towards the large scale commercialisation of polymer electrolyte membrane electrolyzers.Since catalytic stability and activity are inversely related,long service lifetime still demands large amounts of low-abundant and expensive iridium.In this manuscript we elaborate on the concept of maximizing the utilisation of iridium for the oxygen evolution reaction.By combining different tin oxide based support materials with liquid atomic layer deposition of iridium oxide,new possibilities are opened up to grow thin layers of iridium oxide with tuneable noble metal amounts.In-situ,time-and potential-resolved dissolution experiments reveal how the stability of the substrate and the catalyst layer thickness directly affect the activity and stability of deposited iridium oxide.Based on our results,we elaborate on strategies how to obtain stable and active catalysts with maximized iridium utilisation for the oxygen evolution reaction and demonstrate how the activity and durability can be tailored correspondingly.Our results highlight the potential of utilizing thin noble metal films with earth abundant support.materials for future catalytic applications in the energy sector. | Marc Ledendecker Simon Geiger Katharina Hengge Joohyun Lim Serhiy Cherevko Andrea M. | 2 | “Anti-HBc alone” in human immunodefi ciency virus-positive and immuno-suppressed lymphoma patients显示文摘Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is endemic in various parts of the world. A proportion of patients have resolved prior exposure to HBV, as evidenced by the clearance of circulating hepatitis B surface antigen and the appearance of antibody to hepatitis B core antigen (anti-HBc), which could produce protective antibody to hepatitis B surface antigen (anti-HBs). With time, anti-HBs in some patients may become negative. Such patients are described as having occult HBV infection or 'anti-HBc alone'. In the context of immunodef icient patients, such as HIV patients or lymphoma patients undergoing immunosuppressive immunotherapy, the lack of protective anti-HBs may increase the risk of hepatitis B reactivation. | 4 | Dose surgical sub-specialization influence survival in patients with colorectal cancer?显示文摘AIM: To perform a review of patients with colorectal cancer to a community hospital and to compare the risk-adjusted survival between patients managed in general surgical units versus a colorectal unit.METHODS: The study evaluated all patients with colorectal cancer referred to either general surgical units or a colorectal unit from 1/1996 to 6/2001.These results were compared to a historical control group treated within general surgical units at the same hospital from 1/1989 to 12/1994. A KaplanMeier survival analysis compared the overall survivals (allcause mortality) between the groups. A Cox proportional hazards model was used to determine the influence of a number of independent variables on survival. These variables included age, ASA score, disease stage, emergency surgery,adjuvant chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy, disease location, and surgical unit.RESULTS: There were 974 patients involved in this study.There were no significant differences in the demographic details for the three groups. Patients in the colorectal group were more likely to have rectal cancer and Stage T cancers,and less likely to have Stage Ⅱ cancers. Patients treated in the colorectal group had a significantly higher overall 5-year survival when compared with the general surgical group and the historical control group (56 % versus 45 % and 40 % respectively, P<0.01). | 5 | Liver resection versus liver transplantation for hepatocellular carcinoma within Milan criteria:a meta-analysis of 18,421 patients显示文摘Background:Outcomes after liver resection(LR)and liver transplantation(LT)for hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)are heterogenous and may vary by region,over time periods and disease burden.We aimed to compare overall survival(OS)and disease-free survival(DFS)between LT versus LR for HCC within the Milan criteria.Methods:Two authors independently searched Medline and Embase databases for studies comparing survival after LT and LR for patients with HCC meeting the Milan criteria.Meta-analyses and meta-regression were conducted using random-effects models.Results:We screened 2,278 studies and included 35 studies with 18,421 patients.LR was associated with poorer OS[hazard ratio(HR)=1.44;95%confidence interval(CI):1.14-1.81;P<0.01]and DFS(HR=2.71;95%CI:2.23-3.28;P<0.01)compared to LT,with similar findings among intention-to-treat(ITT)studies.In uninodular disease,OS in LR was comparable to LT(P=0.13)but DFS remained poorer(HR=2.95;95%CI:2.30-3.79;P<0.01).By region,LR had poorer OS versus LT in North America and Europe(P≤0.01),but not Asia(P=0.25).LR had inferior survival versus LT in studies completed before 2010(P=0.01),but not after 2010(P=0.12).Cohorts that underwent enhanced surveillance had comparable OS after LT and LR(P=0.33),but cohorts undergoing usual surveillance had worse OS after LR(HR=1.95;95%CI:1.24-3.07;P<0.01).Conclusions:Mortality after LR for HCC is nearly 50%higher compared to LT.Survival between LR and LT were similar in uninodular disease.The risk of recurrence after LR is threefold that of LT. | Jin Hean Koh Darren Jun Hao Tan Yuki Ong Wen Hui Lim Cheng Han Ng Phoebe Wen Lin Tay Jie Ning Yong Mark D.Muthiah Eunice X.Tan Ning Qi Pang Beom Kyung Kim Nicholas Syn Alfred Kow Brian K.P.Goh Daniel Q.Huang | 2022 | Hepatobiliary Surgery and Nutrition2022，11，1： | 3 |
| 6 | Different fundus imaging modalities and technical factors in AI screening for diabetic retinopathy:a review显示文摘Background:Effective screening is a desirable method for the early detection and successful treatment for diabetic retinopathy,and fundus photography is currently the dominant medium for retinal imaging due to its convenience and accessibility.Manual screening using fundus photographs has however involved considerable costs for patients,clinicians and national health systems,which has limited its application particularly in less-developed countries.The advent of artificial intelligence,and in particular deep learning techniques,has however raised the possibility of widespread automated screening.Main text:In this review,we first briefly survey major published advances in retinal analysis using artificial intelligence.We take care to separately describe standard multiple-field fundus photography,and the newer modalities of ultrawide field photography and smartphone-based photography.Finally,we consider several machine learning concepts that have been particularly relevant to the domain and illustrate their usage with extant works.Conclusions:In the ophthalmology field,it was demonstrated that deep learning tools for diabetic retinopathy show clinically acceptable diagnostic performance when using colour retinal fundus images.Artificial intelligence models are among the most promising solutions to tackle the burden of diabetic retinopathy management in a comprehensive manner.However,future research is crucial to assess the potential clinical deployment,evaluate the cost-effectiveness of different DL systems in clinical practice and improve clinical acceptance. | Gilbert Lim Valentina Bellemo Yuchen Xie Xin Q.Lee Michelle Y.T.Yip Daniel S.W.Ting | 2020 | Eye and Vision2020，7，1： | 2 |
