1A simple taurocholate-induced model of severe acute pancreatitis in rats显示文摘AIM: To investigate gut barrier damage and intestinal bacteria translocation in severe acute pancreatitis (SAP), a simple rat model of SAP was induced and studied.METHODS: Pancreatitis was induced by uniformly distributed injection of 3.8% Na taurocholate (1 mL/kg) beneath the pancreatic capsule. Rats in the control group were injected with normal saline in the identical location. RESULTS: Serum amylase, plasma endotoxin, intestinal permeability, and pancreatitis pathology scores were all markedly higher in the pancreatitis group than in the control group (P < 0.01). The bacterial infection rate was signif icantly higher in the SAP group than in the control group (P < 0.01), observed in parallel by both bacterial culture and real-time polymerase chain reaction. Acute damage of the pancreas was observed histologically in SAP rats, showing interstitial edema, leukocyte infiltration, acinar cell necrosis and hemorrhage. The microstructure of the intestinal mucosa of SAP ratsappeared to be destroyed with loose, shortened microvilli and rupture of the intercellular junction, as shown by electron microscopy. 2MiRNA-429 suppresses the growth of gastric cancer cells in vitro显示文摘Micro-RNAs(miRNAs) have been found to be implicated in a very wide range of physiological processes.This study was aimed to investigate the regulation of miRNA-429(miR-429) in gastric cancer cells on cell proliferation and apoptosis.Quantitative PCR was employed to detect the expressions of miR-429 after eukaryotic expression plasmid of miR-429 and its inhibitor were transiently transfected into poorly differentiated human gastric can-cer cell line BGC823.The 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide(MTT) reduction as-says were used to examine proliferation ability.Apoptosis was analyzed by flow cytometry after transfection.The results showed that 48 h after transfection,overexpression of miR-429 reached maximum efficiency.Compared with mock transfection,miR-429 inhibited tumor cell proliferation significantly(P < 0.05) at 48 h and 72 h.of Overexpression of miR-429 promoted tumor cell apoptosis when compared with mock transfected cells(P < 0.05).On the contrary,miR-429 inhibitor promoted tumor cell proliferation and inhibited apoptosis when compared with controls(P < 0.05).Our results suggested that miRNA-429 may serve as a tumor suppressor during tumorigenesis of gastric cancer and may be a potential gastric cancer therapeutic target.Di Liu Peng Xia Dongmei Diao Yao Cheng Hao Zhang Dawei Yuan Chen Huang Chengxue Dang 2012The Journal of Biomedical Research2012,26,5:12

4Nickel foam supported Cr-doped NiCo2O4/FeOOH nanoneedle arrays as a high-performance bifunctional electrocatalyst for overall water splitting显示文摘Efficient and robust noble-metal-free bifunctional electrocatalysts for overall water splitting(OWS)is of great importance to realize the large-scale hydrogen production.Herein,we report the growth of undoped and Cr-doped NiCo2O4(Cr-NiCo2O4)nanoneedles(NNs)on nickel foam(NF)as bifunctional electrocatalysts for both hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER).We demonstrate that Cr-doping significantly improves activity for HER and OER by increasing the conductivity of NNs and allowing more active sites on NNs electrochemically accessible.When amorphous FeOOH is electrodeposited on the surface of Cr-NiCo2O4 NNs,the resulting FeOOH/Cr-NiCo2O4/NF exhibits itself as an excellent bifunctional catalyst for OWS.In the two-electrode cell where FeOOH/Cr-NiCo2O4/NF is used both as cathode and anode for OWS,a cell voltage of only 1.65 V is required to achieve an electrolysis current density of 100 mA·cm^−2.In addition,the catalyst shows a very high stability for OWS,the two-electrode cell can operate at a consist current density of 20 mA·cm^−2 for 10 h OWS with the cell voltage being stable at ca.1.60 V.These results demonstrate that FeOOH/Cr-NiCo2O4/NF possesses an OWS performance superior to most of transition-metal based bifunctional electrocatalysts working in alkaline medium.The excellent bifunctional activity and stability of FeOOH/Cr-NiCo2O4/NF are attributed to the following reasons:(i)The NN structure provides a large specific surface area;(ii)the high conductivity of Cr-NiCo2O4 enables more active centers on the far-end part of NNs to be electrochemically reached;(iii)the deposition of FeOOH supplies additional active sites for OWS.Tengyi Liu Peng Diao 2020Nano Research2020,13,12:9

6Effects of cerium substitution on phase components, microstructures and magnetic properties of Nd-Fe-Ti-B alloy显示文摘(Nd(1-x)Cex)(12)Fe(77)Ti5B6(x=0,0.2,0.3,0.4,0.6,0.8)alloys were prepared by melt-spinning and annealing techniques.The phase constitutions,microstructures and magnetic properties were investigated by powder X-ray diffraction(XRD),a differential scanning calorimeter(DSC),a vibrating sample magnetometer(VSM)and a transmission electron microscope(TEM).It is found that with the increase of Ce content,the coercivity of the(Nd(1-x)Cex)(12)Fe(77)Ti5B6 alloys reaches maximum first and then decreases.The maximum coercivity reaches 18.5 kOe obtained in the sample of 20%Ce substituted which is 34%higher than the Ce-free sample.TEM results reveal that the micro structure refinement effect is responsible for the coercivity improvement.This phenomenon implies that in some cases,Ce and Ti co-doping is more beneficial to improving of the coercivity than Ti single doping in Nd-Fe-B alloys.With further Ce addition,magnetic properties deteriorate due to the formation of CeFe2 and TbCu7-type phases.Haijun Peng Yang Luo Yakun Dou Xinyuan Bai Wenlong Yan Dunbo Yu Yuanfei Yang Shulin Diao 2019Journal of Rare Earths2019,37,8:4

8Clinical Features and Prognostic Risk Factors of Choroic Plexus Tumors in Children显示文摘Background:Decision-making concerning the treatment ofchoroid plexus tumor (CPT)in pediatric patients remains a topic of considerable debate.The aim of this work was to describe clinical features and prognostic risk factors of CPT in the pediatric population and to provide theoretical opinions regarding clinical decisions for CPT. Methods:The data of 96 patients with CPT and younger than 14 years were retrospectively analyzed.Clinical characteristics such as pathological type of CPTs,rate and severity of hydrocephalus,treatment and outcome,and recurrence were investigated.For categorical variables,the Pearson's Chi-square test was performed.The Mann-Whitney U-test was used for comparisons between nonnormally distributed parameters.Log-rank test was used for progression-free survival (PFS). Results:The study included 70 choroid plexus papilloma (CPP)cases,17 atypical choroid plexus papilioma (aCPP)cases,and 9 choroid plexus carcinoma (CPC)cases.Compared with patients with CPP or aCPP,patients with CPC had a shorter disease course (median:CPP, 4 months;aCPP,2 months;CPC,1 month;H:23.5,P <0.001),higher rate of acute hydrocephalus (CPP,27.1%;aCPP,52.9%;CPC, 77.8%;x^2 =10.9,P <0.05),and lower incidence of cure rate (CPP,85.7%;aCPP,70.5%;CPC,33.3%;x^2 =13.5,P <0.05).The severity of hydrocephalus with tumor in the lateral or third ventricle was significantly higher than that with tumors in the fourth ventricle (severe hydrocephalus:lateral ventricle,51.7%;third ventricle,47.0%;fourth ventricle,11.1%;x^2 =26.0,P <0.001).Patients with gross total surgical resection had no better PFS than those with partial resection because of the use of adjuvant therapy in the latter (x^2 =4.0,P >0.05). Patients with CPC experienced shorter time for recurrence than those with CPP or aCPP (x^2 =40.1,P <0.0001). 9Simulation study of phase retrieval for hard X-ray in-line phase contrast imaging显示文摘Two algorithms for the phase retrieval of hard X-ray in-line phase contrast imaging are presented. One is referred to as Iterative Angular Spectrum Algorithm (IASA) and the other is a hybrid algorithm that combines IASA with TIE (transport of intensity equation). The calculations of the algorithms are based on free space propagation of the angular spectrum. The new approaches are demonstrated with numerical simulations. Comparisons with other phase retrieval algorithms are also performed. 10Association of assisted reproductive technology, germline de novo mutations and congenital heart defects in a prospective birth cohort study显示文摘Emerging evidence suggests that children conceived through assisted reproductive technology(ART)have a higher risk of congenital heart defects(CHDs)even when there is no family history.De novo mutation(DNM)is a well-known cause of sporadic congenital diseases;however,whether ART procedures increase the number of germline DNM(gDNM)has not yet been well studied.Here,we performed whole-genome sequencing of 1137 individuals from 160 families conceived through ART and 205 families conceived spontaneously.Children conceived via ART carried 4.59 more gDNMs than children conceived spontaneously,including 332 paternal and 1.26 maternal DNMs,after correcting for parental age at conception,cigarette smoking,alcohol drinking,and exercise behaviors.Paternal DNMs in offspring conceived via ART are characterized by C>T substitutions at CpG sites,which potentially affect protein-coding genes and are significantly associated with the increased risk of CHD.In addition,the accumulation of non-coding functional mutations was independently associated with CHD and 87.9% of the mutations were originated from the father.Among ART offspring,infertility of the father was associated with elevated paternal DNMs;usage of both recombinant and urinary follicle-stimulating hormone and high-dosage human chorionic gonadotropin trigger was associated with an increase of maternal DNMs.In sum,the increased gDNMs in offspring conceived by ART were primarily originated from fathers,indicating that ART itself may not be a major reason for the accumulation of gDNMs.Our findings emphasize the importance of evaluating the germline status of the fathers in families with the use of ART.Cheng Wang Hong Lv Xiufeng Ling Hong Li Feiyang Diao Juncheng Dai Jiangbo Du Ting Chen Qi Xi Yang Zhao Kun Zhou Bo Xu Xiumei Han Xiaoyu Liu Meijuan Peng Congcong Chen Shiyao Tao Lei Huang Cong Liu Mingyang Wen Yangqian Jiang Tao Jiang Chuncheng Lu Wei Wu Di Wu Minjian Chen Yuan Lin Xuejiang Guo Ran Huo Jiayin Liu Hongxia Ma Guangfu Jin Yankai Xia Jiahao Sha Hongbing Shen Zhibin Hu 2021Cell Research2021,31,8:2
11Quantification and prediction of enteric methane emissions from Chinese lactating Holstein dairy cows fed diets with different dietary neutral detergent fiber/non-fibrous carbohydrate(NDF/NFC)ratios显示文摘Methane(CH_(4))emissions from ruminant production are a significant source of anthropogenic greenhouse gas production,but few studies have examined the enteric CH_(4)emissions of lactating dairy cows under different feeding regimes in China.This study aimed to investigate the influence of different dietary neutral detergent fiber/non-fibrous carbohydrate(NDF/NFC)ratios on production performance,nutrient digestibility,and CH_(4)emissions for Holstein dairy cows at various stages of lactation.It evaluated the performance of CH_(4)prediction equations developed using local dietary and milk production variables compared to previously published prediction equations developed in other production regimes.For this purpose,36 lactating cows were assigned to one of three treatments with differing dietary NDF/NFC ratios:low(NDF/NFC=1.19),medium(NDF/NFC=1.54),and high(NDF/NFC=1.68).A modified acid-insoluble ash method was used to determine nutrient digestibility,while the sulfur hexafluoride technique was used to measure enteric CH4 emissions.The results showed that the dry matter(DM)intake of cows at the early,middle,and late stages of lactation decreased significantly(P<0.01)from 20.9 to 15.4 kg d^(–1),15.3 to 11.6 kg d^(–1),and 16.4 to 15.0 kg d^(–1),respectively,as dietary NDF/NFC ratios increased.Across all three treatments,DM and gross energy(GE)digestibility values were the highest(P<0.05)for cows at the middle and late lactation stages.Daily CH_(4)emissions increased linearly(P<0.05),from 325.2 to 391.9 kg d^(–1),261.0 to 399.8 kg d^(–1),and 241.8 to 390.6 kg d^(–1),respectively,as dietary NDF/NFC ratios increased during the early,middle,and late stages of lactation.CH_(4)emissions expressed per unit of metabolic body weight,DM intake,NDF intake,or fat-corrected milk yield increased with increasing dietary NDF/NFC ratios.In addition,CH_(4)emissions expressed per unit of GE intake increased significantly(P<0.05),from 4.87 to 8.12%,5.16 to 9.25%,and 5.06 to 8.17%respectively,as dietary NDF/NFC ratios increased during the early,middle,and late lactation stages.The modelling results showed that the equation using DM intake as the single variable yielded a greater R^(2)than equations using other dietary or milk production variables.When data obtained from each lactation stage were combined,DM intake remained a better predictor of CH_(4)emissions(R^(2)=0.786,P=0.026)than any other variables tested.Compared to the prediction equations developed herein,previously published equations had a greater root mean square prediction error,reflecting their inability to predict CH_(4)emissions for Chinese Holstein dairy cows accurately.The quantification of CH_(4)production by lactating dairy cows under Chinese production systems and the development of associated prediction equations will help establish regional or national CH_(4)inventories and improve mitigation approaches to dairy production.DONG Li-feng JIA Peng LI Bin-chang WANG Bei YANG Chun-lei LIU Zhi-hao DIAO Qi-yu 2022Journal of Integrative Agriculture2022,21,3:2
12Characterization and mitigation option of greenhouse gas emissions from lactating Holstein dairy cows in East China显示文摘Background:This study investigated greenhouse gas(GHG)emission characteristics of lactating Holstein dairy cows in East China and provided a basis for formulating GHG emission reduction measures.GreenFeed system was used to measure the amount of methane(CH_(4))and carbon dioxide(CO_(2))emitted by the cows through respiration.Data from a commercial cow farm were used to observe the effects of parity,body weight,milk yield,and milk component yield on CH_(4) and CO_(2) emissions.Results:Mean herd responses throughout the study were as follows:111 cows completed all experimental processes,while 42 cows were rejected because they were sick or had not visited the GreenFeed system 20 times.On average,lactating days of cows was 138±19.04 d,metabolic weight was 136.5±9.5 kg,parity was 2.8±1.0,dry matter intake(DMI)was 23.1±2.6 kg/d,and milk yield was 38.1±6.9 kg/d.The GreenFeed system revealed that CH_(4) production(expressed in CO_(2) equivalent,CO_(2)-eq)was found to be 8304 g/d,CH_(4)_(CO_(2)−eq)/DMI was 359 g/kg,CH_(4)_(CO_(2)−eq)/energy-corrected milk(ECM)was 229.5 g/kg,total CO_(2) production(CH_(4) production plus CO_(2) production)was 19,201 g/d,total CO_(2)/DMI was 831 g/kg,and total CO_(2)/ECM was 531 g/kg.The parity and metabolic weight of cows had no significant effect on total CO_(2) emissions(P>0.05).Cows with high milk yield,milk fat yield,milk protein yield,and total milk solids yield produced more total CO_(2)(P<0.05),but their total CO_(2) production per kg of ECM was low(P<0.05).The total CO_(2)/ECM of the medium and high milk yield groups was 17%and 27%lower than that of the low milk yield group,respectively.Conclusions:The parity and body condition had no effect on total CO_(2) emissions,while the total CO_(2)/ECM was negatively correlated with milk yield,milk fat yield,milk protein yield,and total milk solids yield in lactating Holstein dairy cows.Measurement of total CO_(2) emissions of dairy cows in the Chinese production system will help establish regional or national GHG inventories and develop mitigation approaches to dairy production regimes.Peng Jia Yan Tu Zhihao Liu Qi Lai Fadi Li Lifeng Dong Qiyu Diao 2022Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2022,13,6:2

16Preparation of iridium nano-and submicroparticles on solid substrates by direct surface growth and drop-drying assembly显示文摘Iridium nanoparticles (IrNPs) and submicroparticles (IrSMPs) with different shapes were synthesized and assembled on indium thin oxide (ITO) and Si substrates using two different methods: direct surface growth and drop-drying assembly. The obtained IrNPs and IrSMPs were characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). The IrSMPs (or IrNPs) with disc-like shape and irregular shapes were obtained on ITO substrate by direct surface growth method using polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and sodium citrate as different stabilizers, respectively. The reaction time and the injection temperature of reducing agent are found to have great effect on the size and morphology of the surface-grown Ir particles. The disc-like, ellipsoidal, and spherical IrSMPs (or IrNPs) were also synthesized in homogeneous solution in the presence of H3BO3 and Na2B4O7 as assistant-stabilizer. These IrNPs and IrSMPs were used as building blocks to construct nanoparticle assemblies by using a simple drop-drying method.
