1Thinking Metacognitively about Metacognition in Second and Foreign Language Learning,Teaching,and Research:Toward a Dynamic Metacognitive Systems Perspective显示文摘Against a background where language learning/learner strategy(LLS)research was criticized,we would like to bring to the fore a key concept,metacognition,which has not been fully understood in the way that criticisms were levelled against LLS research.We argue that despite the justification for some points,such criticisms are not based on a complete understanding of the theoretical foundations of LLS research,nor on what metacognition entails,especially when these two constructs are related to both the cognitive and sociocultural domains of learning.Exactly because metacognition is undergirded by both cognitive and sociocultural underpinnings,it cannot be treated purely as a cognitive enterprise;instead,it should be conceptualized as a set of complex dynamic systems.We argue that some of the criticisms of LLS research are problematic because of the critics'limited understanding of LLS research.These critics have not pointed out close relationships between LLS research and metacognition.To disperse the confusion caused by such criticisms and to advance the field,we elaborate on a dynamic metacognitive systems perspective on second and foreign language learning,teaching and research.We maintain that thinking metacognitively about metacognition with dual or multiple perspectives is necessary.Doing so will enable us to see the contribution of the dynamic metacognitive systems perspective to enhancing our understanding of second and foreign learning,teaching,and research.LAWRENCE JUN ZHANG DONGLAN ZHANG 2013当代外语研究2013,,12:5
2Number of Species and Geographical Distribution of Diospyros L.(Ebenaceae) in China显示文摘Diospyros L. is the largest, most widely distributed, and economically important genus of the family Ebenaceae. However, various researchers disagree on the number of species and geographical distribution of Diospyros in China. For the purpose of providing a scientific basis for the effective protection and rational use of Diospyros, the present study involved a comprehensive review of the literature, electronic databases, and herbaria as well as field investigations. The results showed as the following.(1) While 174 scientific names have been published for various taxa of Diospyros in China, by screening and excluding synonyms, 65 species names were considered acceptable; these account for about 12%of the total species of Diospyros globally.(2) A review of herbarium specimens documented that Diospyros occurs in 28 administrative regions of China, more than the literature records. Species richness decreases from south to north in China while Guangxi, Yunnan, Guangdong, and Hainan have the greatest number of species.(3) Among the 65 relatively reliable Diospyros species, 45 species are endemic to China and 18 species are stenochoric. Some species may have become extinct as a result of environmental degradation and the status of some germplasm remain unresolved. In brief, Chinese Diospyros includes abundant, China-specific, and widely distributed features. 3Yizhining elixation improves sustained attention deficit and impulsiveness of spontaneous hypertensive rats显示文摘BACKGROUND: The core symptoms of attention deficit, impulsiveness, hyperactivity of attention deficit hyperactivity disorders (ADHD) can concurrently present in spontaneous hypertensive rats. Neuropathological, biochemical and pharmacological studies also support it. Spontaneous hypertensive rats are one kind of best ADHD animal models, which has been accepted at present. Yizhining elixation can reinforce kidney and calm liver, strengthen spleen and nourish heart, benefit intelligence and focus attention, but its therapeutic effect on treatment of ADHD needs to be further investigated. OBJECTIVE: To observe the effect of Yizhining elixation on the persistent active attention deficit and impulsiveness of rats with spontaneous hypertension. DESIGN: Observational and controlled analysis. SETTING: Department of Pediatrics, the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine. MATERIALS: Thirty-six male rats with spontaneous hypertension, of clean grade, were involved in this experiment. The involved rats were provided by Shanghai SLAC Laboratory Animal Co., Ltd., and they did not undergo any experiments; Yizhining elixation was composed by Guiban, Shenglonggu, Yuanzhi, Shichangpu, Yejiaoteng, Shudi, Dangshen, Yunling, Fuxiaomai, Wueizi, etc. Crude drug, provided by Outpatient Dispensary, Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, was prepared into water elixation, which contained crude drug of 1.154 g/mL. METHODS: This experiment was carried out in the Department of Pediatrics, First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine between March and July 2005. The involved rats were randomized into 3 groups: Yizhining high dose group, Yizhining low dose group and blank control group, with 12 rats in each. Changes in sustained attention and impulsiveness of rats were detected before and after administration of Yizhining elixation by '5-choice serial response time task' method. Following above-mentioned training and detection, rats in each group were daily drenched with Yizhining elixation once for 14 days successively. Rats in the Yizhining high-dose and low-dose groups were drenched with 12.6 mL/kg and 6.3 mL/kg Yizhining elixation (diluted to 25 mL/kg) respectively, and those in the blank control group were drenched with 12.5 mL/kg normal saline. On the 14th day after administration, the ratios of correct and immature response of rats were re-detected for 3 days successively by formal detection method for later analysis. The sustained attention of rats was evaluated with ratio of correct response: Ratio of correct response=[times of correct response/(times of correct response + times of incorrect response)]; impulsiveness was evaluated with the ratio of immature response: ratio of immature response=[times of immature response/ (times of correct response+times of incorrect response+times of omission+times of immature response)]. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The effects of different doses of Yizhining elixation on the sustained attention (ratio of correct response) and impulsiveness (ratio of immature response) of spontaneous hypertensive rats. RESULTS: Thirty-six spontaneous hypertensive rats were involved in the final analysis. The ratio of correct response of rats in the Yizhining high dose and low dose groups after administration was (98.9±2.30)% and (96.6±4.00)%, respectively, which was significantly higher than that before administration [(80.4±11.5)%, (83.9±8.90)%,P < 0.01] and that in the blank control group[(83.3±6.30)%,P < 0.01]. The ratio of immature response of rats in the Yizhining high dose and low dose groups after administration was (5.04±1.04)%, (7.23±1.22)%, respectively, which was lower than that before administration [(9.85±2.50)%,(9.40±1.73)%,P < 0.05] and that in the blank control group [(9.42±1.64)%,P < 0.01]. 5Resequencing of sweetpotato germplasm resources reveals key loci associated with multiple agronomic traits显示文摘Sweetpotato is an important crop that exhibits hexaploidy and high heterozygosity,which limits gene mining for important agronomic traits.Here,314 sweetpotato germplasm resources were deeply resequenced,and 4599509 SNPs and 846654 InDels were generated,among which 196124 SNPs were nonsynonymous and 9690 InDels were frameshifted.Based on the Indels,genome-wide marker primers were designed,and 3219 of 40366 primer pairs were selected to construct the core InDel marker set.The molecular ID of 104 sweetpotato samples verified the availability of these primers.The sweetpotato population structures were then assessed through multiple approaches using SNPs,and diverse approaches demonstrated that population stratification was not obvious for most Chinese germplasm resources.As many as 20 important agronomic traits were evaluated,and a genome-wide association study was conducted on these traits.A total of 19 high-confidence loci were detected in both models.These loci included several candidate genes,such as IbMYB1,IbZEP1,and IbYABBY1,which might be involved in anthocyanin metabolism,carotenoid metabolism,and leaf morphogenesis,respectively.Among them,IbZEP1 and IbYABBY1 were first reported in sweetpotato.The variants in the promoter and the expression levels of IbZEP1 were significantly correlated with f lesh color(orange or not orange)in sweetpotato.The expression levels of IbYABBY1 were also correlated with leaf shape.These results will assist in genetic and breeding studies in sweetpotato.Shizhuo Xiao Xibin Dai Lingxiao Zhao Zhilin Zhou Lukuan Zhao Pan Xu Bingqian Gao An Zhang Donglan Zhao Rui Yuan Yao Wang Jie Wang Qinglian Li Qinghe Cao 2023Horticulture Research2023,10,1:1
