2Transformers in computational visual media:A survey显示文摘Transformers,the dominant architecture for natural language processing,have also recently attracted much attention from computational visual media researchers due to their capacity for long-range representation and high performance.Transformers are sequence-to-sequence models,which use a selfattention mechanism rather than the RNN sequential structure.Thus,such models can be trained in parallel and can represent global information.This study comprehensively surveys recent visual transformer works.We categorize them according to task scenario:backbone design,high-level vision,low-level vision and generation,and multimodal learning.Their key ideas are also analyzed.Differing from previous surveys,we mainly focus on visual transformer methods in low-level vision and generation.The latest works on backbone design are also reviewed in detail.For ease of understanding,we precisely describe the main contributions of the latest works in the form of tables.As well as giving quantitative comparisons,we also present image results for low-level vision and generation tasks.Computational costs and source code links for various important works are also given in this survey to assist further development.Yifan Xu Huapeng Wei Minxuan Lin Yingying Deng Kekai Sheng Mengdan Zhang Fan Tang Weiming Dong Feiyue Huang Changsheng Xu 2022Computational Visual Media2022,8,1:6
3Drone-based entanglement distribution towards mobile quantum networks显示文摘Satellites have shown free-space quantum-communication ability;however,they are orbit-limited from full-time all-location coverage.Meanwhile,practical quantum networks require satellite constellations,which are complicated and expensive,whereas the airborne mobile quantum communication may be a practical alternative to offering full-time all-location multi-weather coverage in a cost-effective way.Here,we demonstrate the first mobile entanglement distribution based on drones,realizing multi-weather operation including daytime and rainy nights,with a Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt S-parameter measured to be 2.41±0.14 and 2.49±0.06,respectively.Such a system shows unparalleled mobility,flexibility and reconfigurability compared to the existing satellite and fiber-based quantum communication,and reveals its potential to establish a multinode quantum network,with a scalable design using symmetrical lens diameter and single-mode-fiber coupling.All key technologies have been developed to pack quantum nodes into lightweight mobile platforms for local-area coverage,and arouse further technical improvements to establish wide-area quantum networks with high-altitude mobile communication.Hua-Ying Liu Xiao-Hui Tian Changsheng Gu Pengfei Fan Xin Ni Ran Yang Ji-Ning Zhang Mingzhe Hu Jian Guo Xun Cao Xiaopeng Hu Gang Zhao Yan-Qing Lu Yan-Xiao Gong Zhenda Xie Shi-Ning Zhu 2020National Science Review2020,7,5:6
4Starch grain analysis reveals Late Neolithic plant utilization in the middle reaches of the Ganjiang River显示文摘Plant utilization is poorly known in South China as compared to North China.Fanchengdui, Zhuweicheng, Shinianshan, and Yinjiaping, which date back to 5-4 ka BP, are typical Neolithic sites located at the middle reaches of the Ganjiang River in Jiangxi Province.Due to the lack of systematic plant archaeological work, only rice straw and husk residues have been found in some archaeological sites in Jiangxi Province.Thirteen stone tools excavated from these sites were examined in this study.The results showed that among the plants utilized are Coix spp., Oryza spp., Vigna spp., plants from the tribe Triticeae, roots from some plants of Zingiberaceae, and other species of roots and tubers.More than 457 grains were retrieved from the 13 stone tools.The fact that Coix spp.were found in all stone tools suggests that these species were a major food source during the Neolithic era.In addition, 28 starch grains of Oryza spp.were found in 8 stone tools.The analysis also revealed that not only seeds of Gramineae but also those of Leguminosae, Zingiberaceae and other species of roots and tubers are among the plants utilized in the four Fanchengdui culture sites.These results indicate that ancient plant utilization was rather diverse, and this study elucidates the prehistoric agricultural systems of South China.WAN ZhiWei YANG XiaoYan GE QuanSheng FAN ChangSheng ZHOU GuangMing JIANG MeiXin 2012Science China Earth Sciences2012,55,12:5

14SiamCPN:Visual tracking with the Siamese center-prediction network显示文摘Object detection is widely used in object tracking;anchor-free object tracking provides an end-to-end single-object-tracking approach.In this study,we propose a new anchor-free network,the Siamese center-prediction network(SiamCPN).Given the presence of referenced object features in the initial frame,we directly predict the center point and size of the object in subsequent frames in a Siamese-structure network without the need for perframe post-processing operations.Unlike other anchor-free tracking approaches that are based on semantic segmentation and achieve anchor-free tracking by pixel-level prediction,SiamCPN directly obtains all information required for tracking,greatly simplifying the model.A center-prediction sub-network is applied to multiple stages of the backbone to adaptively learn from the experience of different branches of the Siamese net.The model can accurately predict object location,implement appropriate corrections,and regress the size of the target bounding box.Compared to other leading Siamese networks,SiamCPN is simpler,faster,and more efficient as it uses fewer hyperparameters.Experiments demonstrate that our method outperforms other leading Siamese networks on GOT-10K and UAV123 benchmarks,and is comparable to other excellent trackers on LaSOT,VOT2016,and OTB-100 while improving inference speed 1.5 to 2 times.Dong Chen Fan Tang Weiming Dong Hanxing Yao Changsheng Xu 2021Computational Visual Media2021,7,2:1

17A breakthrough trial of an artificial liver without systemic heparinization in hyperbilirubinemia beagle models显示文摘The development of wearable artificial livers was restricted to device miniaturization and bleeding risk with water-soluble anticoagulants.Herein,a double-deck column filled with solid anticoagulant microspheres and Kevlar porous microspheres(KPMs,bilirubin adsorbents)was connected with the principle machine of wearable artificial liver(approximately 9 kg)to treat hyperbilirubinemia beagles for the first time.With the initial normal dose of heparin,the double-deck column could afford 3 h hemoperfusion in whole blood without thrombus formation.The removal efficiency of the double-deck column for total bilirubin(TBIL)was 31.4%.Interestingly,the excessive amounts of hepatocyte metabolites were also decreased by approximately 25%.The“anticoagulant+column”realized safe and effective whole blood hemoperfusion without the plasma separation system and heparin pump;however,the proposed principle machine of wearable artificial liver and“anticoagulant+column”cannot completely replace the bio-liver now.The intelligence of the device and the versatility of the adsorbent need to be improved;moreover,advanced experimental techniques need to be developed to validate the survival rates in animals.Overall,this study is a meaningful trial for the development of wearable artificial livers in the future.Yilin Wang Shanshan Wang Xueqin He Yupei Li Tao Xu Lin Xu Bo Yang Xinnian Fan Weifeng Zhao Changsheng Zhao 2023Bioactive Materials2023,,2:0

19Non-dominated sorting based multi-page photo collage显示文摘The development of social networking services(SNSs)revealed a surge in image sharing.The sharing mode of multi-page photo collage(MPC),which posts several image collages at a time,can often be observed on many social network platforms,which enables uploading images and arrangement in a logical order.This study focuses on the construction of MPC for an image collection and its formulation as an issue of joint optimization,which involves not only the arrangement in a single collage but also the arrangement among different collages.Novel balance-aware measurements,which merge graphic features and psychological achievements,are introduced.Non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm is adopted to optimize the MPC guided by the measurements.Experiments demonstrate that the proposed method can lead to diverse,visually pleasant,and logically clear MPC results,which are comparable to manually designed MPC results.Yu Song Fan Tang Weiming Dong Changsheng Xu 2022Computational Visual Media2022,8,2:0
