Current status of severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome in China显示文摘Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome(SFTS) is an emerging infectious disease caused by SFTS virus(SFTSV). SFTSV is associated with a high mortality rate and has been reported in China, South Korea and Japan. SFTSV undergoes rapid changes owing to evolution, gene mutations, and reassortment between different strains of SFTSV. In this review, we summarize the recent cases and general properties of SFTS, focusing on the epidemiology, genetic diversity, clinical features, and diagnostics of SFTSV in China. From 2010 to October 2016, SFTS cases were reported in 23 provinces of China, with increased numbers yearly. Infection and death cases are mainly found in central China, where the Haemaphysalis longicornis ticks are spread. The national average mortality rate of SFTS infection was 5.3%, with higher risk to elder people. The main epidemic period was from May to July, with a peak in May. Thus, SFTS reminds a significant public health problem, and development of prophylactic vaccines and effective antiviral drugs will be highly needed. | Jianbo Zhan Qin Wang Jing Cheng Bing Hu Jing Li Faxian Zhan Yi Song Deyin Guo | 2017 | Virologica Sinica2017,32,1: | 71
Prevalence and Molecular Phylogenetic Analysis of Severe Fever with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome Virus in Domestic Animals and Rodents in Hubei Province, China显示文摘Dear Editor,In 2009,an outbreak of an unknown infectious disease occurred in rural areas of Hubei Province,China, affecting 17 persons, five of whom died.It was initially suspected to be human anaplasmosis(Zhang et al.2008).However,the laboratory evidence was insufficient to verify the diagnosis in most cases. In March 2011,a new virus was isolated from a patient’s blood and named severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome(SFTS)virus(SFTSV)in the Bunyaviridae(Yu et al.2011).The main signs and symptoms of SFTS are fever, thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, and a decreased platelet count(Yu et al.2011;McMullan et al.2012;Zhang et al.2017;Hu et al.2018). | Jing Cheng Li Zhang Bing Hu Qin Wang Ran Wu Faxian Zhan Shuang Rong Jianbo Zhan | 2019 | Virologica Sinica2019,34,5: | 4

Antibody neutralization to SARS-CoV-2 and variants after 1 year in Wuhan,China显示文摘Most COVID-19 convalescents can build effective anti-SARS-CoV-2 humoral immunity, but it remains unclear how long it can maintain and how efficiently it can prevent the reinfection of the emerging SARS-CoV-2 variants. Here,we tested the sera from 248 COVID-19 convalescents around 1 year post-infection in Wuhan, the earliest known epicenter.SARS-CoV-2 immunoglobulin G(IgG)was well maintained in most patients and potently neutralizes the infection of the original strain and the B.1.1.7 variant. However, varying degrees of immune escape was observed on the other tested variants in a patient-specific manner, with individuals showing remarkably broad neutralization potency. The immune escape can be largely attributed to several critical spike mutations. These results suggest that SARS-CoV-2 can elicit long-lasting immunity but this is escaped by the emerging variants. | Qianyun Liu Qing Xiong Fanghua Mei Chengbao Ma Zhen Zhang Bing Hu Junqiang Xu Yongzhong Jiang Faxian Zhan Suhua Zhou Li Tao Xianying Chen Ming Guo Xin Wang Yaohui Fang Shu Shen Yingle Liu Fang Liu Li Zhou Ke Xu Changwen Ke Fei Deng Kun Cai Huan Yan Yu Chen Ke Lan | 2022 | The Innovation2022,3,1: | 3
Antibody Cocktail Exhibits Broad Neutralization Activity Against SARS-CoV-2 and SARS-CoV-2 Variants显示文摘Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-Co V-2)has precipitated multiple variants resistant to therapeutic antibodies. In this study,12 high-affinity antibodies were generated from convalescent donors in early outbreaks using immune antibody phage display libraries.Of them, two RBD-binding antibodies(F61 and H121)showed high-affinity neutralization against SARS-Co V-2,whereas three S2-target antibodies failed to neutralize SARS-Co V-2.Following structure analysis,F61 identified a linear epitope located in residues G446–S494,which overlapped with angiotensinconverting enzyme 2(ACE2)binding sites, while H121 recognized a conformational epitope located on the side face of RBD,outside from ACE2 binding domain.Hence the cocktail of the two antibodies achieved better performance of neutralization to SARS-Co V-2.Importantly,these two antibodies also showed efficient neutralizing activities to the variants including B.1.1.7 and B.1.351,and reacted with mutations of N501 Y,E484 K,and L452 R,indicated that it may also neutralize the recent India endemic strain B.1.617.The unchanged binding activity of F61 and H121 to RBD with multiple mutations revealed a broad neutralizing activity against variants, which mitigated the risk of viral escape. Our findings revealed the therapeutic basis of cocktail antibodies against constantly emerging SARS-Co V-2 variants and provided promising candidate antibodies to clinical treatment of COVID-19 patients infected with broad SARS-Co V-2 variants. | Yuanyuan Qu Xueyan Zhang Meiyu Wang Lina Sun Yongzhong Jiang Cheng Li Wei Wu Zhen Chen Qiangling Yin Xiaolin Jiang Yang Liu Chuan Li Jiandong Li Tianlei Ying Dexin Li Faxian Zhan Youchun Wang Wuxiang Guan Shiwen Wang Mifang Liang | 2021 | Virologica Sinica2021,36,5: | 3

It is found thatthe contents of gold and silver get higher in metallic sulphides such as pyrite, chalcopyrite and sphalerite as well asin quartz and muscovite, and get lower in chlorite, biotite, sericite, albite and calcite, showing that tectono-dynamicsis one of the important factors for petrogenesis and metallogenesis. | DONG Faxian LI Zhongjian CHEN Bailin WANG Jianping | 1999 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)1999,73,1: | 2 |
Edge superconductivity in multilayer WTe2 Josephson junction显示文摘WTe2,as a type-ⅡWeyl semimetal, has 2D Fermi arcs on the(O01)surface in the bulk and 1D helical edge states in its monolayer. These features have recently attracted wide attention in condensed matter physics. However,in the intermediate regime between the bulk and monolayer, the edge states have not been resolved owing to its closed band gap which makes the bulk states dominant. Here,we report the signatures of the edge superconductivity by superconducting quantum interference measurements in multilayerWTe2 Josephson junctions and we directly map the localized supercurrent. In thickWTe(~60nm),the supercurrent is uniformly distributed by bulk states with symmetricJosephson effect(|Ic+(B)|=|Ic^-(B)|).In thin WTe2(10 nm),however, the supercurrent becomes confined to the edge and its width reaches up to 1.4μm and exhibits non-symmetric behavior|Ic^+(B)|≠|Ic^-(B)|.The ability to tune the edge domination by changing thickness and the edge superconductivity establishes WTez as a promising topological system with exotic quantum phases and a rich physics. | Ce Huang Awadhesh Narayan Enze Zhang Xiaoyi Xie Linfeng Ai Shanshan Liu Changjiang Yi Youguo Shi Stefano Sanvito Faxian Xiu | 2020 | National Science Review2020,7,9: | 2

Towards the manipulation of topological states of matter: a perspective from electron transport显示文摘The introduction of topological invariants, ranging from insulators to metals, has provided new insights into the traditional classification of electronic states in condensed matter physics. A sudden change in the topological invariant at the boundary of a topological nontrivial system leads to the formation of exotic surface states that are dramatically different from its bulk. In recent years, significant advancements in the exploration of the physical properties of these topological systems and regarding device research related to spintronics and quantum computation have been made. Here, we review the progress of the characterization and manipulation of topological phases from the electron transport perspective and also the intriguing chiral/Majorana states that stem from them. We then discuss the future directions of research into these topological states and their potential applications. | Cheng Zhang Hai-Zhou Lu Shun-Qing Shen Yong P. | 11 | Manganese and chromium doping in atomically thin MoS2显示文摘Recently,two-dimensional materials have been attracting increasing attention because of their novel properties and promising applications. However, the impurity doping remains a significant challenge owing to the lack of the doping strategy in the atomically thin layers. Here we report on the chromium(Cr) and manganese(Mn)doping in atomically-thin MoS_2 crystals grown by chemical vapor deposition. The Cr/Mn doped MoS_2 samples are characterized by a peak at 1.76 and 1.79 eV in photoluminescence spectra, respectively, compared with the undoped one at 1.85 eV.The field-effect transistor(FET) devices based on the Mn doping show a higher threshold voltage than that of the pure MoS_2 while the Cr doping exhibits the opposite behavior.Importantly, the carrier concentration in these samples displays a remarkable difference arising from the doping effect, consistent with the evolution of the FET performance. The temperature-dependent conductivity measurements further demonstrate a large variation in activation energy. The successful incorporation of the Mn and Cr impurities into the monolayer MoS_2 paves the way towards the high Curie temperature two-dimensional dilute magnetic semiconductors. | Ce Huang Yibo Jin Weiyi Wang Lei Tang Chaoyu Song Faxian Xiu | 2017 | Journal of Semiconductors2017,38,3: | 1
Analysis of Ore-controlling Structure in the Qifengcha-Detiangou Gold Deposit,Huairou County,Beijing显示文摘The Qifengcha-Detiangou gold deposit is a medium-sized deposit recently found in Huairou County, Beijing. It belongs to the altered mylonite type with superimposed quartz vein type and is related to the early Yanshanian magmatic activity. Characterized by multiperiodic activity, the NE-trending Qifengcha fault is a regional ore-controlling structure in the area, and gold mineralization develops only in its southeastern part. Meanwhile, gold mineralization is controlled by the Yunmengshan metamorphic core complex. The nearly N-S- and E-W-trending low-angle detachment faults, reformed by the Qifengcha fault in the northwestern part of the core complex, are the main ore-bearing faults. All discovered gold deposits are located within an area 1.5(4.0 km away from the boundary of the upwelling centre. The N-S- (NNE-) and E-W-trending ore-bearing faults are ductile-brittle structural zones developing in shallow positions and subjected mainly to compressive deformation. The structural ore-controlling effects are as follows. (1) The attitude, shape, and distribution of gold orebodies are controlled by faults. (2) There is a negative correlation between the gold abundance and the magnetic anisotropy (P) of the altered mylonite samples from the deposit, which shows that the gold mineralization is later than the structural deformation. (3) Quartz vein type mineralization is superimposed on altered mylonite type mineralization. (4) In mineralized mylonite, the stronger the ductile shear deformation, the easier the late-stage gold mineralization to occur and the higher the gold abundance. The richest gold mineralization occurs only around the centre of the fault subjected to the strongest deformation. | CHEN Bailin LI Zhongjian DONG Faxian | 2001 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2001,75,1: | 1

Two-dimensional ferromagnetic superlattices显示文摘Mechanically exfoliated two-dimensional ferromagnetic materials(2D FMs)possess long-range ferromagnetic order and topologically nontrivial skyrmions in few layers. However, because of the dimensionality effect, such few-layer systems usually exhibitmuch lower Curie temperature(TC)compared to their bulk counterparts. It is therefore of great interest to explore effective approaches to enhance their TC,particularly in wafer-scale for practical applications. Here,we report an interfacial proximity-induced high-TC 2D FM Fe3GeTe2(FGT)via A-type antiferromagnetic material CrSb(CS)which strongly couples to FGT.A superlattice structure of(FGT/CS)n,where n stands for the period of FGT/CS heterostructure, has been successfully produced with sharp interfaces by molecular-beam epitaxy on 2-inch wafers.By performing elemental specific X-ray magnetic circular dichroism(XMCD)measurements,we have unequivocally discovered that TC of 4-layer Fe3GeTe2 can be significantly enhanced from 140 K to 230 K because of the interfacial ferromagnetic coupling.Meanwhile,an inverse proximity effect occurs in the FGT/CS interface, driving the interfacial antiferromagnetic CrSb into a ferrimagnetic state as evidenced by double-switching behavior in hysteresis loops and the XMCD spectra.Density functional theory calculations show that the Fe-Te/Cr-Sb interface is strongly FMcoupled and doping of the spin-polarized electrons by the interfacial Cr layer gives rise to the TC enhancement of the Fe3GeTe2 films,in accordance with our XMCDmeasurements.Strikingly,by introducing rich Fe in a 4-layer FGT/CS superlattice,TC can be further enhanced to near room temperature. Our results provide a feasible approach for enhancing the magnetic order of few-layer 2D FMs in wafer-scale and render opportunities for realizing realistic ultra-thin spintronic devices. | Shanshan Liu Ke Yang Wenqing Liu Enze Zhang Zihan Li Xiaoqian Zhang Zhiming Liao Wen Zhang Jiabao Sun Yunkun Yang Han Gao Ce Huang Linfeng Ai Ping Kwan Johnny Wong Andrew Thye Shen Wee Alpha TN’Diaye Simon AMorton Xufeng Kou Jin Zou Yongbing Xu Hua Wu Faxian Xiu | 2020 | National Science Review2020,7,4: | 0
Tuning 2D magnetism in Fe_(3+X)GeTe_(2) films by element doping显示文摘Two-dimensional(2D)ferromagnetic materials have been discovered with tunable magnetism and orbital-driven nodal-line features.Controlling the 2D magnetism in exfoliated nanoflakes via electric/magnetic fields enables a boosted Curie temperature(T_(C))or phase transitions. One of the challenges, however,is the realization of high T_(C) 2D magnets that are tunable, robust and suitable for large scale fabrication. Here,we report molecular-beam epitaxy growth of wafer-scale Fe_(3+X)GeTe_(2) films with T_(C) above room temperature.By controlling the Fe composition in Fe_(3+X)GeTe_(2),a continuously modulated T_(C) in a broad range of 185–320 K has been achieved. This widely tunable TC is attributed to the doped interlayer Fe that provides a 40%enhancement around the optimal composition X=2.We further fabricated magnetic tunneling junction device arrays that exhibit clear tunneling signals. Our results show an effective and reliable approach,i.e.element doping,to producing robust and tunable ferromagnetism beyond room temperature in a large-scale 2D Fe_(3+X)GeTe_(2) fashion. | Shanshan Liu Zihan Li Ke Yang Enze Zhang Awadhesh Narayan Xiaoqian Zhang Jiayi Zhu Wenqing Liu Zhiming Liao Masaki Kudo Takaaki Toriyama Yunkun Yang Qiang Li Linfeng Ai Ce Huang Jiabao Sun Xiaojiao Guo Wenzhong Bao Qingsong Deng Yanhui Chen Lifeng Yin Jian Shen Xiaodong Han Syo Matsumura Jin Zou Yongbing Xu Xiaodong Xu Hua Wu Faxian Xiu | 2022 | National Science Review2022,9,6: | 0

Magnetic field-induced non-linear transport in HfTe5显示文摘The interplay of electron correlations and topological phases gives rise to various exotic phenomena including fractionalization, excitonic instability and axionic excitation.Recently discovered transition-metal pentatellurides can reach the ultra-quantum limit in low magnetic fields and serve as good candidates for achieving such a combination. Here,we report evidence of density wave and metal-insulator transition in HfTe5 induced by intense magnetic fields.Using the non-linear transport technique,we detect a distinct non-linear conduction behavior in the longitudinal resistivity within the a–c plane, corresponding to the formation of a density wave induced by magnetic fields. In high fields, the onset of non-linear conduction in the Hall resistivity indicates an impurity-pinned magnetic freeze-out as the possible origin of the insulating behavior. These frozen electrons can be gradually reactivated into mobile states above a threshold of electric field. This experimental evidence calls for further investigation into the underlying mechanism of the bulk quantum Hall effect and field-induced phase transitions in pentatellurides. | Cheng Zhang Jinshan Yang Zhongbo Yan Xiang Yuan Yanwen Liu Minhao Zhao Alexey Suslov Jinglei Zhang Li Pi Zhong Wang Faxian Xiu | 2022 | National Science Review2022,9,10: | 0
