1Concentration and source identification of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and phthalic acid esters in the surface water of the Yangtze River Delta,China显示文摘The pollution from polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs) and phthalic acid esters(PAEs) in the surface water of the rapidly urbanized Yangtze River Delta region was investigated.Fourteen surface water samples were collected in June 2010.Water samples were liquid-liquid extracted using methylene chloride and analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry.Concentrations of PAHs and PAEs ranged 12.9-638.1 ng/L and 61-28550 ng/L,respectively.Fluoranthene,naphthalene,pyrene,phenanthrene,di-2ethylhexyl phthalate,and di-n-butyl phthalate were the most abundant compounds in the samples.The water samples were moderately polluted with benzo[a]pyrene according to China's environmental quality standard for surface water.The two highest concentrations of PAHs and PAEs occurred in samples from Taihu Lake,Wuxi City and the western section of Yangchenghu Lake.Potential sources of pollution at S7 were petroleum combustion and the plastics industry,and at Yangchenghu Lake were petroleum combustion and domestic waste.Pollution in samples from the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal originated from diesel engines.There were no obvious sources of pollution for the other water samples.These results can be used as reference levels for future monitoring programs of pollution from PAHs and PAEs.Lifei Zhang Liang Dong Lijun Ren Shuangxin Shi Li Zhou Ting Zhang Yeru Huang 2012Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,2:56
22018 Chinese Pediatric Cardiology Society(CPCS) guideline for diagnosis and treatment of syncope in children and adolescents显示文摘Syncope belongs to the transient loss of consciousness(TLOC), characterized by a rapid onset, short duration, and spontaneous complete recovery. It is common in children and adolescents, accounting for 1% to 2% of emergency department visits.Recurrent syncope can seriously affect children's physical and mental health, learning ability and quality of life and sometimes cardiac syncope even poses a risk of sudden death. The present guideline for the diagnosis and treatment of syncope in children and adolescents was developed for guiding a better clinical management of pediatric syncope. Based on the globally recent development and the evidence-based data in China, 2018 Chinese Pediatric Cardiology Society(CPCS) guideline for diagnosis and treatment of syncope in children and adolescents was jointly prepared by the Pediatric Cardiology Society, Chinese Pediatric Society, Chinese Medical Association(CMA)/Committee on Pediatric Syncope, Pediatricians Branch, Chinese Medical Doctor Association(CMDA)/Committee on Pediatric Cardiology, Chinese College of Cardiovascular Physicians, Chinese Medical Doctor Association(CMDA)/Pediatric Cardiology Society, Beijing Pediatric Society, Beijing Medical Association(BMA). 4Transplantation of UC-MSCs on collagen scaffold activates follicles in dormant ovaries of POF patients with long history of infertility显示文摘Premature ovarian failure(POF) is a refractory disease for clinical treatment with the goal of restoring fertility. In this study,umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells on a collagen scaffold(collagen/UC-MSCs) can activate primordial follicles in vitro via phosphorylation of FOXO3 a and FOXO1. Transplantation of collagen/UC-MSCs to the ovaries of POF patients rescued overall ovarian function, evidenced by elevated estradiol concentrations, improved follicular development, and increased number of antral follicles. Successful clinical pregnancy was achieved in women with POF after transplantation of collagen/UC-MSCs or UC-MSCs. 5Natural Variation in CCD4 Promoter Underpins Species-Specific Evolution of Red Coloration in Citrus Peel显示文摘Carotenoids and apocarotenoids act as phytohormones and volatile precursors that influence plant development and confer aesthetic and nutritional value critical to consumer preference.Citrus fruits display considerable natural variation in carotenoid and apocarotenoid pigments.In this study,using an integrated genetic approach we revealed that a 5;c/s-regulatory change at CCD4b encoding CAROTENOID CLEAVAGE DIOXYGENASE 4b is a major genetic determinant of natural variation in C3 0 apocarotenoids responsible for red coloration of citrus peel.Functional analyses demonstrated that in addition the known role in synthesizing 3-citraurin,CCD4b is also responsible for the production of another important C3 0 apocarotenoid pigment,p-citraurinene.Furthermore,analyses of the CCD4b promoter and transcripts from various citrus germplasm accessions established a tight correlation between the presence of a putative 5'c/s-regulatory enhancer within an MITE transposon and the enhanced allelic expression of CCD4b in C3 0 apocarotenoid-rich red-peeled accessions.Phylogenetic analysis provided further evidence that functional diversification of CCD4b and naturally occurring variation of the CCD4b promoter resulted in the stepwise evolution of red peels in mandarins and their hybrids.Taken together,our findings provide new insights into the genetic and evolutionary basis of apocarotenoid diversity in plants,and would facilitate breeding efforts that aim to improve the nutritional and aesthetic value of citrus and perhaps other fruit crops.Xiongjie Zheng Kaijie Zhu Quan Sun Weiyi Zhang Xia Wang Hongbo Cao Meilian Tan Zongzhou Xie Yunliu Zeng Junli Ye Lijun Chai Qiang Xu Zhiyong Pan Shunyuan Xiao Paul D.Fraser Xiuxin Deng 2019Molecular Plant2019,12,9:18
6Beneficial effects of Houttuynia cordata polysaccharides on “two-hit” acute lung injury and endotoxic fever in rats associated with anti-complementary activities显示文摘Houttuynia cordata Thunb. is a traditional herb used for clearing heat and eliminating toxins,and has also been used for the treatment of severe acute respiratory syndrome(SARS). In vitro, the crude H. cordata polysaccharides(CHCP) exhibited potent anti-complementary activity through both the classical and alternative pathways by acting on components C3 and C4 of the complement system without interfering with the coagulation system. This study was to investigate the preventive effects of CHCP on acute lung injury(ALI) induced by hemorrhagic shock plus lipopolysaccharide(LPS) instillation(two-hit)and LPS-induced fever in rats. CHCP significantly attenuated pulmonary injury in the 'two-hit' ALI model by reducing pulmonary edema and protein exudation in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid(BALF). In addition, it reduced the deposit of complement activation products in the lung and improved oxidantantioxidant imbalance. Moreover, CHCP administration inhibited fever in rats, reduced the number of leukocytes and restored serum complement levels. The inhibition on the inappropriate activation of complement system by CHCP may play an important role in its beneficial effects on inflammatory diseases. 7A landscape shape index-based sampling approach for land cover accuracy assessment显示文摘Spatial sampling design is one of the key steps in land cover accuracy assessment,and many traditional sampling approaches may not achieve credible spatial sampling due to the high spatial heterogeneity of land cover.This paper characterizes the spatial heterogeneity with three-level LSIs and determines the subsequent sample sizes and their spatial distributions.The three-level LSIs are rLSI in a region,cLSI for each land cover class and uLSI in each geographic sampling unit in the region.The rLSIs are used to derive appropriate sample sizes in the target regions.The cLSIs are used to assure that larger sample numbers are allocated to land cover classes with higher spatial heterogeneity.The uLSIs provide useful measures for selecting optimal geographic units in which sample sites will be located.This LSI-based sampling approach can derive the sample sizes and determine their distributions in an adaptive way according to the spatial heterogeneity.An experimental case study further demonstrates that the LSI-based sampling approach obtains more appropriate sample sizes for each region,sufficient sample numbers for rare classes,and optimal sample distributions in the geographical space.CHEN Fei CHEN Jun WU Hao HOU DongYang ZHANG WeiWei ZHANG Jun ZHOU XiaoGuang CHEN LiJun 2016Science China(Information Sciences)2016,59,12:17

9Efficacy and safety evaluation of intravenous infusion of cervus and cucumis polypeptides for treatment of avascular necrosis of the femoral head: a randomized clinical trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the efficacy and safety of intravenous cervus and cucumis polypeptides for treating avascular necrosis of the femoral head(ANFH) in regard to pain and hip function in a randomized clinical trial.METHODS: A total of 96 subjects with ANFH who were recruited at the Orthopaedic Hospital Affiliated with Hebei United University and Qian Hai Femoral Head Hospital of Beijing were assigned by lottery to an intervention group(n = 48) or a control group(n = 48). All subjects underwent physical therapy and rehabilitation exercises. In addition,subjects in the intervention group were given intravenous infusions of cervus and cucumis polypeptides. Visual analogue scale(VAS), Harris hip score,and radiography or magnetic resonance imaging were applied to assess all subjects at the beginning of treatment and 3, 6, and 9 months afterward. All the subjects were followed up for 2 years.RESULTS: At the beginning of treatment, there were no statistically significant differences between the two groups in terms of the general condition of patients or the VAS and Harris hip scores(all P > 0.05). At 3, 6, and 9 months after treatment,however, the VAS score decreased and the Harris hip score increased in all patients, with the improvement of intervention group significantly greater than that of the control group(P < 0.05).The total effectiveness rates for the intervention and control groups were 89.58% and 70.83%, respectively, with the difference being statistically significant(P < 0.05). 10Echinacoside Protects Against MPP+-Induced Neuronal Apoptosis via ROS/ATF3/CHOP Pathway Regulation显示文摘Echinacoside(ECH) is protective in a mouse model of Parkinson's disease(PD) induced by 1-methyl-4-phenylpyridinium ion(MPP^+). To investigate the mechanisms involved, SH-SY5Y neuroblastoma cells were treated with MPP^+or a combination of MPP^+and ECH,and the expression of ATF3(activating transcription factor3), CHOP(C/EBP-homologous protein), SCNA(synuclein alpha), and GDNF(glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor) was assessed. The results showed that ECH significantly improved cell survival by inhibiting the generation of MPP^+-induced reactive oxygen species(ROS). In addition, ECH suppressed the ROS and MPP^+-induced expression of apoptotic genes(ATF3, CHOP, and SCNA). ECH markedly decreased the MPP^+-induced caspase-3 activity in a dose-dependent manner. ATF3-knockdown also decreased the CHOP and cleaved caspase-3 levels and inhibited the apoptosis induced by MPP^+.Interestingly, ECH partially restored the GDNF expression that was down-regulated by MPP^+. ECH also improved dopaminergic neuron survival during MPP^+treatment and protected these neurons against the apoptosis induced by MPTP. 11Numerical simulation study of the failure evolution process and failure mode of surrounding rock in deep soft rock roadways显示文摘Based on the safety coefficient method,which assigns rock failure criteria to calculate the rock mass unit,the safety coefficient contour of surrounding rock is plotted to judge the distribution form of the fractured zone in the roadway.This will provide the basis numerical simulation to calculate the surrounding rock fractured zone in a roadway.Using the single factor and multi-factor orthogonal test method,the evolution law of roadway surrounding rock displacements,plastic zone and stress distribution under different conditions is studied.It reveals the roadway surrounding rock burst evolution process,and obtains five kinds of failure modes in deep soft rock roadway.Using the fuzzy mathematics clustering analysis method,the deep soft surrounding rock failure model in Zhujixi mine can be classified and patterns recognized.Compared to the identification results and the results detected by geological radar of surrounding rock loose circle,the reliability of the results of the pattern recognition is verified and lays the foundations for the support design of deep soft rock roadways.Meng Qingbin Han Lijun Xiao Yu Li Hao Wen Shengyong Zhang Jian 2016International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2016,26,2:14

13Urban expansion in China and its effect on cultivated land before and after initiating'Reform and Open Policy'显示文摘Urbanization in China has expanded at an unprecedented speed since the declaration of 'Reform and Open Policy'and presented many challenges. Unbalanced regional development, appearance of super megacities and concomitant problems,and conflicts between urbanization and cultivated land protection are three critical problems that Chinese urbanization has to face. To develop new plans for foreseeable future urbanization in China, it is critical to understand the evolving history of cities across China. This study maps urban expansion of 60 typical Chinese cities based on large amount of remote sensing data and the labor-intensive image interpretation method, in order to understand the history of urban expansion from the 1970 s to 2013.Results showed that area of cities expanded 5.23 times compared to their area in the 1970 s. Urban expansion in China accelerated three times(1988–1996, 1999–2006, and 2009–2011) and decelerated three times(1997–1998, 2007–2008, and 2012–2013) over the 40 years. The urban area of South China expanded most significantly 9.42 times, while the urban area in Northeast China expanded only 2.37 times. The disparity among different administrative ranks of cities was even greater than(3.81 times) the differences among different regions. Super megacities have been continuously expanding at a fast rate(8.60-fold), and have not shown obvious signs of slowing down. The proportion of cultivated land among the land sources for urban expansion decreased to a small extent in the 1990 s, but cultivated land continues to be the major land source for urban expansion. 14On-board measurement of particle numbers and their size distribution from a light-duty diesel vehicle:Influences of VSP and altitude显示文摘In this study,the particle size-resolved distribution from a China-3 certificated light-duty diesel vehicle was measured by using a portable emission measurement system(PEMS).In order to examine the influences of vehicle specific power(VSP) and high-altitude operation,measurements were conducted at 8 constant speeds,which ranged from 10 to 80 km/hr at10 km/hr intervals,and two different high altitudes,namely 2200 and 3200 m.The results demonstrated that the numbers of particles in all size ranges decreased significantly as VSP increased when the test vehicle was running at lower speeds(< 20 km/hr),while at a moderate speed(between 30 and 60 km/hr),the particle number was statistically insensitive to increase VSP.Under high-speed cruising conditions,the numbers of ultrafine particles and PM2.5were insensitive to changes in VSP,but the numbers of nanoparticles and PM10 surged considerably.An increase in the operational altitude of the test vehicle resulted in increased particle number emissions at low and high driving speeds;however,particle numbers obtained at moderate speeds decreased as altitude rose.When the test vehicle was running at moderate speeds,particle numbers measured at the two altitudes were very close,except for comparatively higher number concentrations of nanoparticles measured at 2200 m.Jia Liu Yunshan Ge Xin Wang Lijun Hao Jianwei Tan Zihang Peng Chuanzhen Zhang Huiming Gong Ying Huang 2017Journal of Environmental Sciences2017,29,7:12
15Water regime-nitrogen fertilizer incorporation interaction:Field study on methane and nitrous oxide emissions from a rice agroecosystem in Harbin, China显示文摘Water regime and nitrogen(N) fertilizer are two important factors impacting greenhouse gases(GHG) emission from paddy field, whereas their effects have not been well studied in cold region. In this study, we conducted a two-year field experiment to study the impacts of water regime and N fertilizer on rice yields and GHG emissions in Harbin, China, a cold region located in high latitudes. Our results showed that intermittent irrigation significantly decreased methane(CH_4) emission compared with continuous flooding, however,the decrement was far lower than the global average level. The N_2O emissions were very small when flooded but peaked at the beginning of the disappearance of floodwater. The N fertilizer treatments increased CH_4 emissions at low level(75 kg N/ha). But both CH_4 and N_2O emissions were uninfluenced at the levels of 150 kg N/ha and 225 kg N/ha. Rice yields increased under intermittent irrigation and were highest at the level of 150 kg N/ha. 16Influence of climate warming and nitrogen deposition on soil phosphorus composition and phosphorus availability in a temperate grassland,China显示文摘Climate warming and nitrogen(N)deposition change ecosystem processes,structure,and functioning whereas the phosphorus(P)composition and availability directly influence the ecosystem structure under conditions of N deposition.In our study,four treatments were designed,including a control,diurnal warming(DW),N deposition(ND),and combined warming and N deposition(WN).The effects of DW,ND,and WN on P composition were studied by31P nuclear magnetic resonance(31P NMR)spectroscopy in a temperate grassland region of China.The results showed that the N deposition decreased the soil pH and total N(TN)concentration but increased the soil Olsen-P concentration.The solution-state31P NMR analysis showed that the DW,ND and WN treatments slightly decreased the proportion of orthophosphate and increased that of the monoesters.An absence of myo-inositol phosphate in the DW,ND and WN treatments was observed compared with the control.Furthermore,the DW,ND and WN treatments significantly decreased the recovery of soil P in the NaOH–EDTA solution by17%–20%.The principal component analysis found that the soil pH was positively correlated with the P recovery in the NaOH–EDTA solution.Therefore,the decreased soil P recovery in the DW and ND treatments might be caused by an indirect influence on the soil pH.Additionally,the soil moisture content was the key factor limiting the available P.The positive correlation of total carbon(TC)and TN with the soil P composition indicated the influence of climate warming and N deposition on the biological processes in the soil P cycling.GuangNa ZHANG ZhenHua CHEN AiMing ZHANG LiJun CHEN ZhiJie WU 2014Journal of Arid Land2014,6,2:11
17First mass measurement of short-lived nuclides at HIRFL-CSR显示文摘Recent commissioning of the HIRFL-CSR has demonstrated its ability to perform direct mass measurement for short-lived nuclides. Projectile fragments produced by the 78Kr ions at 481.88 MeV/u were separated with the new radioactive beam line in Lanzhou (RIBLL2), and injected into and stored in the experimental storage ring (CSRe). By operating the CSRe as an isochronous mass spectrometry, a typical mass resolution around 2.0×10?5 has been achieved. The masses for 63Ge, 65As and 67Se were measured for the first time. The measured masses are compared with theoretical predictions and the location of the proton drip-line for As isotopes is discussed. 18Ce-based catalysts used in advanced oxidation processes for organic wastewater treatment: A review显示文摘Refractory organic pollutants in water threaten human health and environmental safety,and advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) are effective for the degradation of these pollutants.Catalysts play vital role in AOPs,and Ce-based catalysts have exhibited excellent performance.Recently,the development and application of Ce-based catalysts in various AOPs have been reported.Our study conducts the first review in this rapid growing field.This paper clarifies the variety and properties of Ce-based catalysts.Their applications in different AOP systems (catalytic ozonation,photodegradation,Fenton-like reactions,sulfate radicalbased AOPs,and catalytic sonochemistry) are discussed.Different Ce-based catalysts suit different reaction systems and produce different active radicals.Finally,future research directions of Ce-based catalysts in AOP systems are suggested.Lijun Niu Ting Wei Qiangang Li Guangming Zhang Guang Xian Zeqing Long Zhijun Ren 2020Journal of Environmental Sciences2020,32,10:10
19Construction of Type-II QC LDPC Codes Based on Perfect Cyclic Difference Set显示文摘Quasi-cyclic(QC) Low-density paritycheck(LDPC) codes are constructed from combination of weight-0(null matrix) and Weight-2(W2) Circulant matrix(CM), which can be seen as a special case of the general type-II QC LDPC codes. The shift matrix of the codes is built on the basis of one integer sequence, called perfect Cyclic difference set(CDS), which guarantees the girth of the code at least six. Simulation results show that the codes can perform well in comparison with a variety of other LDPC codes. 20Brassinosteroids function in spikelet differentiation and degeneration in rice显示文摘Brassinosteroids(BRs) play crucial roles in many aspects of plant development. However, their function in spikelet differentiation and degeneration in rice(Oryza sativa L.) remains unclear. Here, we investigated the roles of these phytohormones in spikelet development in fieldgrown rice subjected to five different nitrogen(N)fertilization treatments during panicle differentiation. BR levels and expression of genes involved in BR biosynthesis and signal transduction were measured in spikelets. Pollen fertility and the number of differentiated spikelets were closely associated with 24-epicastasterone(24-epiCS) and 28-homobrassinolide(28-homoBL) levels in spikelets.Enhanced BR biosynthesis and signal transduction, in response to N treatment, enhanced spikelet differentiation, reduced spikelet degeneration, and increased grain yield. Increases in proton-pumping ATPase activity, ATPconcentration, energy charge, and antioxidant system(AOS) levels were consistent with 24-epiCS and28-homoBL concentrations. Exogenous application of 24-epiCS or 28-homoBL on young panicles induced a marked increase in endogenous 24-epiCS or 28-homoBL levels, energy charge, AOS levels, spikelet differentiation, and panicle weight. The opposite effects were observed following treatment with a BR biosynthesis inhibitor.
