| 1 | Response of the northwestern Pacific upper water δ^(13)C to the last deglacial ventilation of the deep Southern Ocean显示文摘The deglacial δ~13C minimum events that originated from the ventilation of the deep Southern Ocean around Antarctica, have been recorded in a range of marine sediments from the southern to tropical oceans in late Pleistocene. However, the broad δ~13C minimum event was also reported as far as to the northern middle latitudes, in northwestern Pacific marginal sea areas, during the last deglaciation. In the northwestern Pacific, forcing from the northern high latitudes is strongly expressed, while the records of in- fluence from the southern high latitudes are few. The Kuroshio Source Region (KSR) forms a boundary between the northwestern Pacific and the southern, tropical Pacific. So, high-resolution planktonic foraminiferal records in core MD06-3054 from the KSR are well positioned to identify signals from the southern hemisphere in the northwestern Pacific. Planktonic foraminiferal tests from the upper 1030 cm of the core were subject to AMS14C, carbon and oxygen isotopic measurements. A negative excursion was found to occur from about 20.0-6.0 ka BP in δ~13C records of both surface (Globigerinoides ruber) and subsurface (Pulleni- atina obliquiloculata) dwellers, but the overall trends of the two curves have reversed since 26.5 ka BP. Moreover, the δ~13C rec- ord of G. ruber (the surface dweller) shows a robust link to the record of atmospheric CO2, and its changes precede the records of P. obliquiloculata (the subsurface dweller). According to the hydrologic conditions, the broad δ~13C minimum event recorded in the KSR is also a response to the increasing ventilation of the deep Southern Ocean around Antarctica during the last deglaciation. The inconsistency between the records of the surface and subsurface dwellers was possibly caused by the ways that the low δ~13C signal was transmitted. Subsurface water primarily received the low δ~13C signal from the Antarctic Intermediate Water (AAIW), whereas the surface water was probably mainly impacted by atmospheric CO2 in the KSR. | 2 | Calcareous nannofossil bioevents and microtektite stratigraphy in the Western Philippine Sea during the Quaternary显示文摘Two sediment cores, MD06-3050 and MD06-3047, were analyzed to study the Quaternary calcareous nannofossil and microtektite records. We dated bioevents and the microtektite impact event by calibrating with oxygen isotope stratigraphy. Seven calcareous nannofossil bioevents were identified over the past 2.36 Ma including the last appearance of data for Discoaster brouweri, Calcidiscus macintyrei, large Gephyrocapsa and Pseudoemiliania lacunosa, the first appearance of data for large Gephyrocapsa and Emiliania huxleyi, and the abrupt increase in the abundance of Gephyrocapsa caribbeanica. | 3 | A comprehensive analysis of the Bencao(herbal)small RNA Atlas reveals novel RNA therapeutics for treating human diseases显示文摘Cross-kingdom herbal mi RNA was first reported in 2012.Using a modified herbal extraction protocol,we obtained 73,677,287sequences by RNA-seq from 245 traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM),of which 20,758,257 were unique sequences.We constructed a Bencao(herbal)small RNA(s RNA)Atlas(http://gffzz4a3adbfa122d4a47h66u9bncnp5xc6nuu.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn),annotated the sequences by sequence-based clustering,and created a nomenclature system for Bencao s RNAs.The profiles of 21,757 mi RNAs in the Atlas were highly consistent with those of plant mi RNAs in mi RBase.Using software tools,our results demonstrated that all human genes might be regulated by s RNAs from the Bencao s RNA Atlas,part of the predicted human target genes were experimentally validated,suggesting that Bencao s RNAs might be one of the main bioactive components of herbal medicines.We established roadmaps for oligonucleotide drugs development and optimization of TCM prescriptions.Moreover,the decoctosome,a lipo-nano particle consisting of 0.5%–2.5%of the decoction,demonstrated potent medical effects.We propose a Bencao(herbal)Index,including small-molecule compounds(SM),protein peptides(P),nucleic acid(N),non-nucleic and non-proteinogenic large-molecule compounds(LM)and elements from Mendeleev's periodic table(E),to quantitatively measure the medical effects of botanic medicine.The Bencao s RNA Atlas is a resource for developing gene-targeting oligonucleotide drugs and optimizing botanical medicine,and may provide potential remedies for the theory and practice of one medicine. | Yinghao Cao Yexuan Lin Na Sun Xinyi Du Yixin Dong Song Mei Xingyu Deng Xiaobei Li Shaoting Guo Kegong Tang Jiaqi Liu Xiangyu Qiao Dandan Zhao Yuhao Qin Cong Zhang Tianyi Xin Xiaohu Shi Congzhao Zhou Tao Dong De-an Guo Benedikt MKessler Dong Xu Jingyuan Song Fengming Huang Xiaoyue Wang Chengyu Jiang | 2023 | Science China(Life Sciences)2023,66,10: | 2 |

| 8 | Design of flexible inorganic thermoelectric devices for decrease of heat loss显示文摘Thermoelectric(TE)devices can realize the conversion of heat energy and electrical power based on Seebeck effect and Peltier effect.Among them,flexible TE devices have received more attention recently due to their better attachment to various heat sources and aimed components with arbitrary shapes.To improve the performance of flexible TE devices for various application scenarios,large efforts have been made to design the leg patterns,the electrical and thermal contact issues,and the substrate and encapsulation materials for the decrease of heat loss.This paper is to review the advancements about the design of flexible inorganic TE devices over the last decade.Firstly,the design of flexible thin-film TE devices based on the direction of temperature gradient,including the patterns of TE legs,the fabrication methods,and the flexible substrate materials is summarized.Secondly,the design of wearable TE devices that contains common architecture of the module,the substrates and encapsulations,the electrical and thermal contact,and some thin-film based wearable devices with curving TE legs is demonstrated.Thirdly,the characterizations of the flexibility of TE devices and the current applications are outlined.Moreover,some views about the future development for TE devices are proposed. | Defang Ding Fengming Sun Fan Xia Zhiyong Tang | 2021 | Nano Research2021,14,7: | 1 |
| 9 | Microstructural influences on the high cycle fatigue life dispersion and damage mechanism in a metastable β titanium alloy显示文摘In this work,the effect of microstructure features on the high-cycle fatigue behavior of Ti-7Mo-3Nb-3Cr-3Al(Ti-7333)alloy is investigated.Fatigue tests were carried out at room temperature in lab air atmosphere using a sinusoidal wave at a frequency of 120 Hz and a stress ratio of 0.1.Results show that the fatigue strength is closely related to the microstructure features,especially theα_(p) percentage.The Ti-7333 alloy with a lowerα_(p) percentage exhibits a higher scatter in fatigue data.The bimodal fatigue behavior and the duality of the S-N curve are reported in the Ti-7333 alloy with relatively lowerα_(p) percentage.Crack initiation region shows the compoundα_(p)/βfacets.Facetedα_(p) particles show crystallographic orientation and morphology dependence characteristics.Crack-initiation was accompanied by faceting process across elongatedα_(p) particles or multiple adjacentα_(p) particles.These particles generally oriented for basal slip result in near basal facets.Fatigue crack can also initiate at elongatedα_(p) particle well oriented for prismatic slip.Theβfacet is in close correspondence to{110}or{112}plane with high Schmid factor.Based on the fracture observation and FIB-CS analysis,three classes of fatigue-critical microstructural configurations are deduced.A phenomenological model for the formation ofα_(p) facet in the bimodal microstructure is proposed.This work provides an insight into the fatigue damage process of theβprecipitate strengthened metastableβtitanium alloys. | Zhihong Wu Hongchao Kou Nana Chen Zhixin Zhang Fengming Qiang Jiangkun Fan Bin Tang Jinshan Li | 2021 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,11: | 0 |
| 10 | Relating the composition of continental margin surface sediments from the Ross Sea to the Amundsen Sea,West Antarctica,to modern environmental conditions显示文摘Investigating the multiple proxies involving productivity,organic geochemistry,and trace element(TE)enrichment in surface sediments could be used as paleoenvironment archives to gain insights into past and future environmental conditions changes.We present redox-sensitive TEs(Mn,Ni,Cu,U,P,Mo,Co,V,Zn,and Cd),productivity-related proxies(total organic carbon and opal),and total nitrogen and CaCO_(3) contents of bulk surface sediments of this area.The productivity proxies from the shelf and coastal regions of the Ross and the Amundsen seas showed that higher productivity was affiliated with an area of nutrient-rich deep water upwelling.The upwelling of weakly corrosive deep water may be beneficial for preserving CaCO_(3),while highly corrosive dense water,if it forms on the shelf near the coastal region(coastal polynya),could limit the preservation of CaCO_(3) in modern conditions.There were no oxic or anoxic conditions in the study area,as indicated by the enrichment factors of redox-sensitive TEs(Mn,Co,and U).The enrichment factor of Cd,which is redox-sensitive,indicated suboxic redox conditions in sediment environments because of high primary productivity and organic matter preservation/decomposition.The enrichment factors of other redox-sensitive TEs(P,Ni,Cu,V,and Zn)and the correlations between the element/Ti ratio with productivity and nutrient proxies indicated that the organic matter decomposed,and there was massive burial of phytoplankton biomass.There was variation in the enrichment,such that sediments were enriched in P,Mo,and Zn,but depleted in Ni,Cu,and V. | WANG Jiakai LI Tiegang TANG Zheng XIONG Zhifang LIU Yanguang CHEN Zhihua CHANG Fengming | 2022 | Advances in Polar Science2022,33,1: | 0 |
