| 1 | Progress in monitoring high-temperature damage to rice through satellite and ground-based optical remote sensing显示文摘The occurrence of rice high-temperature damage (HTD) has increased with global warming. Cultivation of rice is seriously affected by the HTD in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, which directly affects food security in this region and in the whole of China. It is important to monitor and assess crop HTD using satellite remote sensing information. This paper reviews the recent development of monitoring rice HTD using optical remote sensing information. It includes the use of optical remote sensing information to obtain the regional spatial distribution of high temperatures, mixed-surface temperature retrieval for rice fields based on mixed decomposition information, the development of field and thermal infrared testing and modeling, and the satellite/ground-based remote sensing coupled method for monitoring rice HTD. | 2 | Using Highway Connections to Enable Deep Small-footprint LSTM-RNNs for Speech Recognition显示文摘Long short-term memory RNNs(LSTMRNNs) have shown great success in the Automatic speech recognition(ASR) field and have become the state-ofthe-art acoustic model for time-sequence modeling tasks.However, it is still difficult to train deep LSTM-RNNs while keeping the parameter number small. We use the highway connections between memory cells in adjacent layers to train a small-footprint highway LSTM-RNNs(HLSTM-RNNs), which are deeper and thinner compared to conventional LSTM-RNNs. | 3 | Pulsed electrohydrodynamic printing of conductive silver patterns on demand显示文摘Pulsed electrohydrodynamic printing(EHDP) is used to fabricate conductive silver patterns with micrometer resolution.The silver ink pendant experiences swelling,pulsation,and ejection under an applied pulse voltage of 20 Hz.The droplet deposition frequency is equal to the applied voltage frequency so that the EHDP can deposit silver ink on demand.A low applied voltage favors uniform and non-scattering silver patterns while a high applied voltage results in ink scattering.Discrete droplets with 45-55 m in diameter and continuous tracks with 60 m in width are generated by using a 110-m-cailber nozzle.The feature size of deposited patterns is about half of the nozzle caliber,and a finer resolution can be achieved with the introduction of smaller nozzle calibers.Furthermore,the appropriate curing condition is investigated for sufficient combustion of ink solvent.The minimum resistivity of 3.3 cm is demonstrated for a continuous track cured at 200°C for 10 min.Eventually,several passive electrical components,such as coated resistors,interdigitated capacitors(6 pF),and spiral inductors(0.6 H),are successfully fabricated. | WANG Xiangt XU Lei ZHENG GaoFeng CHENG Wei SUN DaoHeng | 2012 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2012,55,6: | 4 |

| 5 | Joint Estimation of Carrier Frequency and Phase Offset Based on Pilot Symbols in Quasi-Constant Envelope OFDM Satellite Systems显示文摘Spectral efficiency and energy efficiency are two important performance indicators of satellite systems. The Quasi-Constant Envelope Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing(QCE-OFDM) technique can achieve both high spectral efficiency and low peak-to-average power ratio(PAPR). Therefore, the QCE-OFDM technique is considered as a promising candidate multi-carrier technique for satellite systems. However, the Doppler effect will cause the carrier frequency offset(CFO), and the non-ideal oscillator will cause the carrier phase offset(CPO) in satellite systems. The CFO and CPO will further result in the bit-error-rate(BER) performance degradation. Hence, it is important to estimate and compensate the CFO and CPO. This paper analyzes the effects of both CFO and CPO in QCE-OFDM satellite systems. Furthermore, we propose a joint CFO and CPO estimation method based on the pilot symbols in the frequency domain. In addition, the optimal pilot symbol structure with different pilot overheads is designed according to the minimum Cramer-Rao bound(CRB) criterion. | 6 | Frequency Offset Compensation for Satellite Communication System with CE-OFDM显示文摘Constant envelope orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(CE-OFDM) is a waveform that can achieve 0d B peak-to-average power ratio and avoid the signal distortion caused by the nonlinear power amplifi er. However, the carrier frequency offset(CFO) in CE-OFDM systems can cause errors at phase unwrapper module. In this paper, a CFO estimation scheme is proposed for CEOFDM in satellite communication system. As the null subcarrier is inherent in the conjugate symmetric symbol structure at the transmitter, the proposed scheme uses the null subcarrier as prior information to estimate the CFO at the receiver. The ideal estimation range of normalized CFO is obtained by mathematical analysis. | 7 | Tuning charge density of chimeric antigen receptor optimizes tonic signaling and CAR-T cell fitness显示文摘Tonic signaling of chimeric antigen receptor(CAR),i.e.,the spontaneous CAR activation in the absence of tumor antigen stimulation,is considered to be a pivotal event controlling CAR-T efficacy.However,the molecular mechanism underlying the spontaneous CAR signals remains elusive.Here,we unveil that positively charged patches(PCPs)on the surface of the CAR antigenbinding domain mediate CAR clustering and result in CAR tonic signaling.For CARs with high tonic signaling(e.g.,GD2.CAR and CSPG4.CAR),reducing PCPs on CARs or boosting ionic strength in the culture medium during ex vivo CAR-T cell expansion minimizes spontaneous CAR activation and alleviates CAR-T cell exhaustion.In contrast,introducing PCPs into the CAR with weak tonic signaling,such as CD19.CAR,results in improved in vivo persistence and superior antitumor function.These results demonstrate that CAR tonic signaling is induced and maintained by PCP-mediated CAR clustering.Notably,the mutations we generated to alter the PCPs maintain the antigen-binding affinity and specificity of the CAR.Therefore,our findings suggest that the rational tuning of PCPs to optimize tonic signaling and in vivo fitness of CAR-T cells is a promising design strategy for the nextgeneration CAR. | Jian Chen Shizhen Qiu Wentao Li Kun Wang Yu Zhang Han Yang Baichuan Liu Guangfei Li Li Li Min Chen Junjie Lan Jiahua Niu Peijie He Lei Cheng Gaofeng Fan Xin Liu Xianmin Song Chenqi Xu Haitao Wu Haopeng Wang | 2023 | Cell Research2023,33,5: | 2 |
| 8 | Tet2 Regulates Osteoclast Differentiation by Interacting with Runx1 and Maintaining Genomic 5-Hydroxymethylcytosine(5hmC)显示文摘As a dioxygenase, Ten-Eleven Translocation 2(TET2) catalyzes subsequent steps of 5-methylcytosine(5 mC) oxidation. TET2 plays a critical role in the self-renewal, proliferation,and differentiation of hematopoietic stem cells, but its impact on mature hematopoietic cells is not well-characterized. Here we show that Tet2 plays an essential role in osteoclastogenesis. Deletion of Tet2 impairs the differentiation of osteoclast precursor cells(macrophages) and their maturation into bone-resorbing osteoclasts in vitro. Furthermore, Tet2^(-/-) mice exhibit mild osteopetrosis, accompanied by decreased number of osteoclasts in vivo. Tet2 loss in macrophages results in the altered expression of a set of genes implicated in osteoclast differentiation, such as Cebpa, Mafb, and Nfkbiz. Tet2 deletion also leads to a genome-wide alteration in the level of 5-hydroxymethylcytosine(5 hmC) and altered expression of a specific subset of macrophage genes associated with osteoclast differentiation. Furthermore, Tet2 interacts with Runx1 and negatively modulates its transcriptional activity. Our studies demonstrate a novel molecular mechanism controlling osteoclast differentiation and function by Tet2, that is, through interactions with Runx1 and the maintenance of genomic 5 hmC. | 14 | Estimation of genetic parameters and their sampling variances for quantitative traits in the type 2 modified augmented design显示文摘The type 2 modified augmented design(MAD2) is an efficient unreplicated experimental design used for evaluating large numbers of lines in plant breeding and for assessing genetic variation in a population. Statistical methods and data adjustment for soil heterogeneity have been previously described for this design. In the absence of replicated test genotypes in MAD2, their total variance cannot be partitioned into genetic and error components as required to estimate heritability and genetic correlation of quantitative traits, the two conventional genetic parameters used for breeding selection. We propose a method of estimating the error variance of unreplicated genotypes that uses replicated controls, and then of estimating the genetic parameters. Using the Delta method, we also derived formulas for estimating the sampling variances of the genetic parameters.Computer simulations indicated that the proposed method for estimating genetic parameters and their sampling variances was feasible and the reliability of the estimates was positively associated with the level of heritability of the trait. A case study of estimating the genetic parameters of three quantitative traits, iodine value, oil content, and linolenic acid content, in a biparental recombinant inbred line population of flax with 243 individuals, was conducted using our statistical models. A joint analysis of data over multiple years and sites was suggested for genetic parameter estimation. Methods: Twenty-five specimens of Xuanwei patients and 28 specimens of Kunming patients were observed and analyzed. The Survivin expression was detected by immunohistochemistry. The results were quantitatively analyzed by image analysis system. Results: There were significant differences in Survivin expression (P < 0.01) between Xuanwei patients and Kunming patients. Conclusion: Survivin expression in lung adenocarcinoma of Xuanwei patients was significantly higher than that of Kunming patients. The pathogenesis of lung adenocarcinoma might be different between Xuanwei patients and Kunming patients. | 19 | Flexible capacitive pressure sensor based on interdigital electrodes with porous microneedle arrays for physiological signal monitoring显示文摘Flexible pressure sensors have many potential applications in the monitoring of physiological signals because of their good biocompatibil-ity and wearability.However,their relatively low sensitivity,linearity,and stability have hindered their large-scale commercial application.Herein,aflexible capacitive pressure sensor based on an interdigital electrode structure with two porous microneedle arrays(MNAs)is pro-posed.The porous substrate that constitutes the MNA is a mixed product of polydimethylsiloxane and NaHCO3.Due to its porous and interdigital structure,the maximum sensitivity(0.07 kPa-1)of a porous MNA-based pressure sensor was found to be seven times higher than that of an imporous MNA pressure sensor,and it was much greater than that of aflat pressure sensor without a porous MNA structure.Finite-element analysis showed that the interdigital MNA structure can greatly increase the strain and improve the sensitivity of the sen-sor.In addition,the porous MNA-based pressure sensor was found to have good stability over 1500 loading cycles as a result of its bilayer parylene-enhanced conductive electrode structure.Most importantly,it was found that the sensor could accurately monitor the motion of afinger,wrist joint,arm,face,abdomen,eye,and Adam’s apple.Furthermore,preliminary semantic recognition was achieved by monitoring the movement of the Adam’s apple.Finally,multiple pressure sensors were integrated into a 33 array to detect a spatial pressure distribu-×tion.Compared to the sensors reported in previous works,the interdigital electrode structure presented in this work improves sensitivity and stability by modifying the electrode layer rather than the dielectric layer. | Jiahui Xu Minghao Wang Minyi Jin Siyan Shang Chuner Ni Yili Hu Xun Sun Jun Xu Bowen Ji Le Li Yuhua Cheng Gaofeng Wang | 2024 | Nanotechnology and Precision Engineering2024,7,1: | 0 |
