| 2 | ESCRT-I Component VPS23A Is Targeted by E3 Ubiquitin Ligase XBAT35 for Proteasome-Mediated Degradation in Modulating ABA Signaling显示文摘A myriad of abiotic stress responses in plants are controlled by abscisic acid(ABA)signaling.ABA receptors can be degraded by both the 26S proteasome pathway and vacuolar degradation pathway after processing via the endosomal sorting complex required for transport(ESCRT)proteins.Despite being essential for ABA signaling,the upstream regulators of ESCRTs remain unknown.Here,we report that the ESCRT-I component VPS23A is an unstable protein that is degraded via the ubiquitin-proteasome system(UPS).The UEV domain of VPS23A physically interacts with the two PSAP motifs of XBAT35,an E3 ubiquitin ligase,and this interaction results in the deposition of K48 polyubiquitin chains on VPS23A,marking it for degradation by 26S proteasomes.We showed that XBAT35 in plants is a positive regulator of ABA responses that acts via the VPS23A/PYL4 complex,specifically by accelerating VPS23A turnover and thereby increasing accumulation of the ABA receptor PYL4.This work deciphers how an ESCRT component is regulated in plants and deepens our understanding of plant stress responses by illustrating a mechanism whereby crosstalk between the UPS and endosome-vacuole-mediated degradation pathways controls ABA signaling. | Feifei Yu Xiaoqiang Cao Guangchao Liu Qian Wang Ran Xia Xiangyun Zhang Qi Xie | 2020 | Molecular Plant2020,13,11: | 4 |

| 7 | Spatio-temporal variation of water conservation and its impact factors on the southern slope of Qilian Mountains显示文摘The ecology of Qilian Mountains has been seriously threatened by uncontrolled grazing and wasteland reclamation. This study examined the ecological changes on the southern slope of Qilian Mountains in China from the perspective of water conservation by classifying different clusters of water conservation functional areas to efficiently use limited human resources to tackle the water conservation protection problem. In this study, we used Integrate Valuation of Ecosystem Services and Tradeoffs(InVEST) model to estimate water conservation and analyzed the factors that influence the function. The results of this study include:(1) from 2000 to 2015, the water conservation of the southern slope of Qilian Mountains generally showed an increasing trend, and the total water conservation in 2015 increased by 42.18% compared with that in 2000.(2) Rainfall, fractional vegetation cover(FVC), and evapotranspiration have the most significant influence on the water conservation of the study area. Among them, water conservation is positively correlated with rainfall and FVC(P<0.05) and negatively correlated with evapotranspiration(P<0.05).(3) The importance level of water conservation functional areas gradually increases from northwest to southeast, and the region surrounding Menyuan Hui Autonomous County in the southeast of the southern slope of Qilian Mountains is the core water conservation functional area. | 10 | Soil microbial community diversity and distribution characteristics under three vegetation types in the Qilian Mountains, China显示文摘Qilian Mountains in Northwest China is a significant ecological security barrier due to its distinctive geographic setting,which has significant biological resource and gene pool.In order to assess the soil quality and ecosystem health in this area,we identified the structural characteristics and functional groups of soil microbial communities.This study focused on Amidongsuo,a typical watershed of the Qilian Mountains,and researched the vertical distribution and dominant populations of soil microorganisms in different habitats,and the relationship between soil microorganisms and environmental factors.Soil microorganisms from three grassland plots,five shrubland plots,and five forest plots in Amidongsuo were studied using high-throughput sequencing.The Venn diagram showed that the types of bacteria were fewer than those of fungi in Amidongsuo.Soil bacteria Acidobacteriota,Proteobacteria,and Methylomirabilota as well as fungi Basidiomycota,Ascomycota,and Mortierellomycota played dominant roles in Amidongsuo,according to the LEfSe(linear discriminant analysis(LDA)effect size)and community structure analyses.According to the ANOSIM(analysis of similarities)result,for both bacteria and fungi,R values of grassland and shrubland were small(R^(2)=0.045 and R^(2)=0.256,respectively),indicating little difference between these two ecosystems.RDA(redundancy analysis)showed a closer relationship between soil nutrients and fungi,and a gradually decreasing correlation between soil nutrients and microorganisms with increasing soil depth.Bacteria were mainly affected by pH,nitrogen(N),and potassium(K),while fungi were mainly affected by K.Overall,fungi had more effect on soil quality than bacteria.Therefore,adjustment of soil K content might improve the soil environment of Amidongsuo in the Qilian Mountains. | TONG Shan CAO Guangchao ZHANG Zhuo ZHANG Jinhu YAN Xin | 2023 | Journal of Arid Land2023,15,3: | 1 |

| 12 | Nutrient status of Populus euphratica growing in desert riparian forests of northwestern China显示文摘Seasonal and microhabitat variations of chemical constituents of foliar organic carbon(C),total nitrogen(N),total phosphorus(P),and total potassium(K),in Populus euphratica growing in desert riparian forests in northwestern China and their correlations were studied.Results show that ranges of C,N,P and K contents in the leaves of P.euphratica were 39.08% 46.16%,0.28% 2.81%,0.05% 0.18% and 0.35% 2.03%,with means of 43.51%,1.49%,0.102% and 1.17%,respectively.The ratio of C/N,C/P and N/P changed from 16.26 to 146.61,from 258.08 to 908.67 and from 2.89 to 26.67;the mean was 37.24,466.27 and 15.14,respectively.The mean N content was significantly lower than of deciduous trees in China,but the mean P content was nearly equivalent.The ratio of C/N was remarkably higher than of global land plants.The ratio of N/P indicated that growth of P.euphratica was jointly limited by N and P nutrient deficiency.During the growth season,total trends of leaf C,N,P and K contents decreased.The maximum appeared in May,and the minimum in September.Among microhabitats,C,N and K contents gradually increased from riparian lowland,flatland,sandpile,Gobi and dune,but C/N ratio was opposite,and P content was not apparent.Foliar C content was extremely,significantly and positively correlated with N and K contents,respectively.The relationships of N-K and P-K were both significantly positive. | ShengKui Cao Qi Feng JianHua Si XiaoYun Zhang GuangChao Cao KeLong Chen JingFu Zhu | 2012 | Research in Cold and Arid Regions2012,4,4: | 0 |

| 14 | Inhibition of MALT1 paracaspase activity improves lesion recovery following spinal cord injury显示文摘Spinal cord injury(SCI) is a devastating traumatic injury that causes persistent, severe motor and sensory dysfunction. Immune responses are involved in functional recovery after SCI. Mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma translocation 1(MALT1) has been shown to regulate the survival and differentiation of immune cells and to play a critical role in many diseases, but its function in lesion recovery after SCI remains unclear. In this paper, we generated KI(knock in) mice with a point mutation(C472 G) in the active center of MALT1 and found that the KI mice exhibited improved functional recovery after SCI.Fewer macrophages were recruited to the injury site in KI mice and these macrophages differentiated into anti-inflammatory macrophages. Moreover, macrophages from KI mice exhibited reduced phosphorylation of p65, which in turn resulted in decreased SOCS3 expression and increased pSTAT6 levels.Similar results were obtained upon inhibition of MALT1 paracaspase with the small molecule inhibitor‘‘MI-2' or the more specific inhibitor ‘‘MLT-827'. In patients with SCI, peripheral blood mononuclear cells(PBMC) displayed increased MALT1 paracaspase. Human macrophages showed reduced proinflammatory and increased anti-inflammatory characteristics following the inhibition of MALT1 paracaspase.
