| 1 | Feasibility of bioleaching combined with Fenton oxidation to improve sewage sludge dewaterability显示文摘A novel joint method of bioleaching with Fenton oxidation was applied to condition sewage sludge. The specific resistance to filtration(SRF) and moisture of sludge cake(MSC) were adopted to evaluate the improvement of sludge dewaterability. After 2-day bioleaching, the sludge p H dropped to about 2.5 which satisfied the acidic condition for Fenton oxidation.Meanwhile, the SRF declined from 6.45 × 1010 to 2.07 × 1010s2/g, and MSC decreased from91.42% to 87.66%. The bioleached sludge was further conditioned with Fenton oxidation. From an economical point of view, the optimal dosages of H2O2 and Fe2+were 0.12 and 0.036 mol/L,respectively, and the optimal reaction time was 60 min. Under optimal conditions, SRF,volatile solids reduction, and MSC were 3.43 × 108s2/g, 36.93%, and 79.58%, respectively. The stability and settleability of sewage sludge were both improved significantly. Besides,the results indicated that bioleaching-Fenton oxidation was more efficient in dewatering the sewage sludge than traditional Fenton oxidation. | 2 | An animal model of cerebral palsy induced by prenatal exposure to lipopolysaccharide and hypoxia显示文摘BACKGROUND:Neonatal cerebral palsy is mainly caused by prenatal factors.At present, an animal model of prenatal infection and early postnatal hypoxia does not exist.OBJECTIVE:To observe morphology and motor performance following prenatal infection and hypoxic insult-induced brain damage of neonatal rats to verify the feasibility to establish a model of cerebral palsy.DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING:A randomized, controlled, animal experiment was performed at the Laboratories of Xinjiang Center for Disease Control and Prevention from September 2007 to June 2008.MATERIALS:The hypoxic incubator was purchased from Shanghai Pediatric Medical Institute, China.Lipopolysaccharide (LPS, Escherichia coli, O55:B5) was purchased from Sigma-Aldrich (St.Louis, MO, USA).METHODS:A total of 27 Wistar rats, aged 7 days, were randomly assigned to sham-surgery group (n=15) with no carotid artery incision or hypoxia treatment, hypoxia/ischemia (H/I) group (n=12) undergoing ligature of the right common carotid artery followed by exposure to hypoxia at postnatal day 7 (P7), and LPS/H group (n=19), in which pregnant rats were exposed in utero to LPS followed by prenatal hypoxia at embryonic day 16.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:Behavior, compound muscle action potential, and pathological changes were observed in 28-day-old rats.RESULTS:The footprint repeat space showed that left limb footprint repeatability in the H/I and LPS/H groups was lower than in the sham-surgery group (P<0.05).The space between the footprints was larger and unstable.Hind limb quadricep compound muscle action potential in the H/I and LPS/H groups showed lower wave amplitude compared with the sham-surgery group (P<0.05).Hematoxylin and eosin staining showed irregular cells around the ventricle, as well as periventricular leukomalacia.CONCLUSION:An animal model of cerebral palsy was established, which simulated the human condition most likely associated with occurrence of this disease.This model could be used for experimental studies related to cerebral palsy. | Gang Chen Yanrong HU Wei Liu Jiang Li Linbao Wen Jianxin Li Lihui Zhao Xiaopeng Yang Yi Zhu Zhenzhu Sun Guangming Chi | 2010 | Neural Regeneration Research2010,5,14: | 4 |
| 3 | Two-dimensional numerical simulation of sediment transport using improved critical shear stress methods显示文摘Research on the critical shear stresses for erosion and deposition for cohesive sediment has attracted substantial attention from both engineering and theoretical viewpoints due to their importance in sediment transport theory.Previous studies have proposed a large number of empirical and semiempirical methods to estimate the critical erosion and deposition shear stress,but comparative analyses and validation of the existing methods are still lacking,leaving questions regarding the applicability ranges of the methods.The current paper evaluates the performance and applicability range of five critical erosion shear stress methods derived from different hypotheses on sediment transport for flume experiments and natural tidal rivers using a process-based model.In addition,the effect of the critical deposition shear stress on sediment transport is investigated.The results show that the different critical erosion shear stress methods yield distinctly different prediction results,and their performance and applicability ranges are discussed by comparing their predictions with measured sediment concentrations from the Shenzhen River and measured geometric changes from the Partheniades'flume experiment.The hiding and exposure effect has been recognized as a crucial factor in the incipient motion of sediment on nonuniform beds.A sensitivity analysis of selective deposition and continuous deposition justifies the existence of the critical deposition shear stress.The current study highlights the performance and applicability ranges of the existing critical shear stress methods in sediment transport modeling for uniform and nonuniform beds,which will enrich understanding of the underlying mechanisms of erosion and deposition of cohesive sediment. | Zhiyong Feng Guangming Tan Junqiang Xia Caiwen Shu Peng Chen Ran Yi | 2020 | International Journal of Sediment Research2020,35,1: | 3 |
| 4 | Observation of a bi-critical point between antiferromagnetic and superconducting phases in pressurized single crystal Ca0.73La0.27FeAs2显示文摘One of the most strikingly universal features of the high-temperature superconductors is that the superconducting phase emerges in the close proximity of the antiferromagnetic phase, and the interplay between these two phases poses a long-standing challenge. It is commonly believed that, as the antiferromagnetic transition temperature is continuously suppressed to zero, there appears a quantum critical point, around which the existence of antiferromagnetic fluctuation is responsible for the development of the superconductivity. In contrast to this scenario, we report the observation of a bi-critical point identified at 2.88 GPa and 26.02 K in the pressurized high-quality single crystal Ca_(0.73)La_(0.27)FeAs_2 by complementary in-situ high pressure measurements. | 5 | Three-dimensional silk fibroin scaffolds enhance the bone formation and angiogenic differentiation of human amniotic mesenchymal stem cells:a biocompatibility analysis显示文摘Silk fibroin(SF)is a fibrous protein with unique mechanical properties,adjustable biodegradation,and the potential to drive differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)along the osteogenic lineage,making SF a promising scaffold material for bone tissue engineering.In this study,hAMSCs were isolated by enzyme digestion and identified by multiple-lineage differentiation.SF scaffold was fabricated by freeze-drying,and the adhesion and proliferation abilities of hAMSCs on scaffolds were determined.Osteoblast differentiation and angiogenesis of hAMSCs on scaffolds were further evaluated,and histological staining of calvarial defects was performed to examine the cocultured scaffolds.We found that hAMSCs expressed the basic surface markers of MSCs.Collagen type I(COLI)expression was observed on scaffolds cocultured with hAMSCs.The scaffolds potentiated the proliferation of hAMSCs and increased the expression of COL-I in hAMSCs.The scaffolds also enhanced the alkaline phosphatase activity and bone mineralization,and upregulated the expressions of osteogeniorelated factors in vitro.The scaffolds also enhanced the an gioge nic differe ntiati on of hAMSCs.The cocultured scaffolds in creased bone formati on in treating critical calvarial defects in mice.This study first demonstrated that the application of 3D SF scaffolds co-cultured with hAMSCs greatly enhaneed osteogenic differentiation and angiogenesis of hAMSCs in vitro and in vivo.Thus,3D SF scaffolds cocultured with hAMSCs may be a better alter native for bone tissue engin eering. | Yuwan Li Ziming Liu Yaping Tang Qinghong Fan Wei Feng Changqi Luo Guangming Dai Zhen Ge Jun Zhang Gang Zou Yi Liu Ning Hu Wei Huang | 2020 | Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2020,52,6: | 2 |
| 6 | Assessment of Heavy Metals,Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons,and Perfluorinated Alkyl Substances in two Marine Crustaceans(Oratosquilla oratoria and Portunus trituberculatus)in the Zhoushan Fishing Ground of China East Sea显示文摘Heavy metals,polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs),and perfluorinated alkyl substances(PFASs)polluted in 155 samples of two marine crustaceans(Oratosquilla oratoria and Portunus trituberculatus)harvested in the Zhoushan fishing ground in the East China Sea were assessed.The results showed that Pb,Hg,and iAs in the whole edible parts of O.oratoria and P.trituberculatus were at trace levels,far below the limits set by the China’s national standard,whereas the exceeding standard rates of Cd in the whole edible parts of O.oratoria and P.trituberculatus were 98.6%and 75.6%,respectively.Moreover,the average Cd levels and the exceeding standard rates of Cd in the visceral tissues of O.oratoria were significantly higher than those in the muscle tissues(4.64 mg kg^(−1)vs.0.49 mg kg^(−1)and 96.7%vs 30%,respectively).PAHs with high detection frequency in the two marine crustaceans included NA,AC,FL,and PHE.Total contents of 15 PAHs(abbreviated asΣ15 PAHs)in whole edible parts of O.oratoria and P.trituberculatus were 10.75–65.9μg kg^(−1)(mean=18.7μg kg^(−1)and 13.26–181μg kg^(−1)(mean=24.2μg kg^(−1),and those in the muscle and the visceral tissues of P.trituberculatus were 9.58–160μg kg^(−1)(mean=21.1μg kg^(−1)and 18.22–201μg kg^(−1)(mean=32.7μg kg^(−1),respectively.Furthermore,PFASs that were found at high contents included PFOA,PFOS,and PFOSA,and total contents of 23 PFASs(Σ23 PFASs)ranged 0.0162–5.104μg kg^(−1)(mean=0.915μg kg^(−1).Collectively,the present work provides new data on the contamination in two marine crustaceans captured in the Zhoushan fishing ground in the China East Sea,which can be useful for making suggestions on proper consumption amounts of the two marine crustaceans. | MEI Guangming ZHANG Xiaojun GU Jie FANG Yi YANG Wenge | 2021 | Journal of Ocean University of China2021,20,6: | 2 |
