1Lipolysis and apoptosis of adipocytes induced by neuropeptide Y—Y5 receptor antisense oligodeoxynucleotides in obese rats显示文摘AIM:To investigate the influence of central administration of neuropeptide Y-Y5 receptor antisense oligodeoxynucleotides(ODN) on the body weight and fat pads of high-energy diet-induced obese rats, and the effects on white adipocyte lipolysis and apoptosis. METHODS: Y5 receptor antisense, sense, mismatched oligodeoxynucleotides (ODN) or vehicle were intracerebroventricularly injected, and average adipocyte area was calculated. DNA ladders were measured to evaluate adipocyte apoptosis, and RT-PCR was used to analyze the expression of bcl-2 and bax gene. RESULTS: (1) Central administration of Y5 receptor antisense ODN significantly decreased body weight, fat pads, and average adipocyte area. (2) DNA fragmentation was presented after electrophoresis at both epididymal and retroperitoneal adipose tissue. (3) The expression of bcl-2 gene was downregulated, while the expression of bax was upregulated. 2Generation of coexisting high-energy pulses in a mode-locked all-fiber laser with a nonlinear multimodal interference technique显示文摘We demonstrate a passively mode-locked all-fiber laser incorporating a piece of graded-index multimode fiber as a mode-locking modulator based on a nonlinear multimodal interference technique, which generates two types of coexisting high-energy ultrashort pulses [i.e., the conventional soliton(CS) and the stretched pulse(SP)]. The CS with pulse energy as high as 0.38 n J is obtained at the pump level of 130 mW. When the pump increases to175 mW, the high-energy SP occurs at a suitable nonlinear phase bias and its pulse energy can reach 4 n J at a 610 mW pump. The pulse durations of the generated CS and SP are 2.3 ps and 387 fs, respectively. The theory of nonlinear fiber optics, single-shot spectral measurement by the dispersive Fourier-transform technique, and simulation methods based on the Ginzburg–Landau equation are provided to characterize the laser physics and reveal the underlying principles of the generated CS and SP. A rogue wave, observed between the CS and SP regions, mirrors the laser physics behind the dynamics of generating a high-energy SP from a CS. 3Single-center Experience in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Hepatic Perivascular Epithelioid Cell Neoplasm显示文摘Background and Aims:Perivascular epithelioid cell neo-plasms(PEComas)are a rare type of mesenchymal neo-plasm and their preoperative diagnosis is challenging.In this study,we summarized the experience from a single medical center to study the examinations,clinical presen-tations,and pathological and histological characteristics of PEComas in the liver in order to optimize overall un-derstanding of the diagnosis and treatment of these neo-plasms.Methods:We conducted a retrospective analysis to investigate the clinical and pathological characteristics as well as imaging presentations of 75 patients diagnosed with hepatic PEComa in The First Affiliated Hospital of Zhe-jiang University between April 2010 and April 2020.Re-sults:Among the 75 patients,52 were women,and the median age was 48 years.Most patients had no specific symptoms,and two were admitted to the hospital for a second time owing to relapse.All patients underwent surgi-cal resection.Histologically,38 patients had classical angio-myolipoma(AML)and 37 had epithelioid AML.The PECo-mas were accompanied by positive immunohistochemical expression of HMB45,Melan-A,and smooth muscle actin.Follow-up data were obtained from 47 of the total 75 pa-tients,through October 2020.Two patients had metastasis after surgery.Conclusions:AML is the most common type of hepatic PEComa.There are no specific symptoms of he-patic PEComa,and serological examinations and imaging modalities for accurate preoperative diagnosis are lacking.Epithelioid AML should be considered a tumor of uncertain malignant potential;however,the prognosis of PEComa af-ter resection is promising.Junjun Jia Jia Luo Cheng-Gen Pan Guomei Ge Meibao Feng Bei Zou Li Liu Shusen Zheng Jun Yu 2022Journal of Clinical and Translational Hepatology2022,10,1:5
4Laboratory information management system for biosafety laboratory:Safety and efficiency显示文摘Laboratory information management system(LIMS)has been widely used to facilitate laboratory activities.However,the current LIMSs do not contain functions to improve the safety of laboratory work,which is the major concern of biosafety laboratories(BSLs).With tons of biosafety information that need to be managed and an increasing number of biosafety-related research projects under way,it is worthy of expanding the current framework of LIMS and building a system that is more suitable for BSL usage.Such a system should carefully trade off between the safety and efficiency of regular lab activities,allowing the laboratory staff to conduct their research as free as possible while ensuring their and the environment’s safety.In order to achieve this goal,the information on the research contents,laboratory personnel,experimental materials and experimental equipment need to be well collected and fully utilized by a centralized system and its databases.Dingzhong Sun Linhuan Wu Guomei Fan 2021Journal of Biosafety and Biosecurity2021,3,1:4
5Decaying evolution dynamics of double-pulse mode-locking显示文摘Taking advantage of the dispersive Fourier transformation technique, the decaying evolution processes of doublepulse mode-locking in a single-walled carbon-nanotube-based Er-doped fiber laser are observed in detail for the first time to our knowledge. The decaying dynamics of the double-pulse mode-locking state is analyzed in the spectral and temporal domains. We reveal that the two pulses in one cluster disappear either simultaneously or one by one during the decaying processes of double-pulse mode-locking states. 7Numerical simulation of predicting and reducing solid particle erosion of solid-liquid two-phase flow in a choke显示文摘Chokes are one of the most important components of downhole flow-control equipment.The particle erosion mathematical model,which considers particle-particle interaction,was established and used to simulate solid particle movement as well as particle erosion characteristics of the solid-liquid two-phase flow in a choke.The corresponding erosion reduction approach by setting ribs on the inner wall of the choke was advanced.This mathematical model includes three parts:the flow field simulation of the continuous carrier fluid by an Eulerian approach,the particle interaction simulation using the discrete particle hard sphere model by a Lagrangian approach and calculation of erosion rate using semi-empirical correlations.The results show that particles accumulated in a narrow region from inlet to outlet of the choke and the dominating factor affecting particle motion is the fluid drag force.As a result,the optimization of rib geometrical parameters indicates that good anti-erosion performance can be achieved by four ribs,each of them with a height(H) of 3 mm and a width(B) of 5 mm equaling the interval between ribs(L).Li Guomei Wang Yueshe He Renyang Cao Xuewen Lin Changzhi Meng Tao 2009Petroleum Science2009,6,1:3
8Brain interstitial fluid drainage and extracellular space affected by inhalational isoflurane: in comparison with intravenous sedative dexmedetomidine and pentobarbital sodium显示文摘Brain interstitial fluid drainage and extracellular space are closely related to waste clearance from the brain. Different anesthetics may cause different changes of brain interstitial fluid drainage and extracellular space but these still remain unknown. Herein,effects of the inhalational isoflurane, intravenous sedative dexmedetomidine and pentobarbital sodium on deep brain matters’ interstitial fluid drainage and extracellular space and underlying mechanisms were investigated. When compared to intravenous anesthetic dexmedetomidine or pentobarbital sodium, inhalational isoflurane induced a restricted diffusion of extracellular space, a decreased extracellular space volume fraction, and an increased norepinephrine level in the caudate nucleus or thalamus with the slowdown of brain interstitial fluid drainage. A local administration of norepinephrine receptor antagonists, propranolol,atipamezole and prazosin into extracellular space increased diffusion of extracellular space and interstitial fluid drainage whilst norepinephrine decreased diffusion of extracellular space and interstitial fluid drainage. 11Non-metallic gold nanoclusters for oxygen activation and aerobic oxidation显示文摘In recent decade, Au nanoclusters of atomic precision(Au_nL_m, where L = organic ligand: thiolate and phosphine) have been shown as a new promising nanogold catalyst. The well-de fined Au_nL_m catalysts possess unique electronic properties and frameworks, providing an excellent opportunity to correlate the intrinsic catalytic behavior with the cluster's framework as well as to study the catalytic mechanisms over gold nanoclusters. In this review, we only demonstrate the important roles of the gold nanoclusters in the oxygen activation(e.g.,~3O_2 to ~1O_2) and their selective oxidations in the presence of oxygen(e.g., CO to CO_2, sul fides to sulfoxides, alcohol to aldehyde, styrene to styrene epoxide, amines to imines, and glucose to gluconic acid). The size-speci ficity(Au_(25)(1.3 nm), Au_(38)(1.5 nm), Au_(144)(1.9 nm), etc.), ligand engineering(e.g., aromatic vs aliphatic), and doping effects(e.g., copper, silver, palladium, and platinum)are discussed in details.
