| 3 | Microstructure and mechanical property of a high-strength Mg-10Gd-6Y-1.5Zn-0.5Zr alloy prepared by multi-pass equal channel angular pressing显示文摘In this work,a high-strength Mg–10Gd–6Y–1.5Zn–0.5Zr(wt.%)alloy was fabricated by successive multi-pass equal channel angular pressing(ECAP).The microstructure and mechanical property of as-cast and ECAP alloys were systematically researched by X-ray diffractometer,scanning electron microscopy,transmission electron microscopy and compression test.The results show that the microstructure of as-cast alloy consists ofα-Mg grains,Mg24Y5 networks,18R blocks,fine 14H lamellas,and fewY-rich particles.After 8 passes ECAP,dynamic recrystallization ofα-Mg is developed and their average grain size decreases to about 1μm.The network Mg_(24)Y_(5) phase at grain boundaries is broken into small particles with average diameter lower than 0.5μm.Moreover,18R blocks are kinked and delaminated,or broken into small particles and blended with Mg24Y5 particles.14H lamellas grow gradually or are dynamically precipitated within certainα-Mg grains.Compression tests indicate that 8p ECAP alloy exhibits excellent mechanical property with compressive strength of 537 MPa and fracture strain of 17.0%.The significant improvement for both strength and ductility of deformed alloy could be ascribed to DRX grains,refined Mg24Y5 particles,18R kinking and dynamical precipitation of 14H. | Huan Liu He Huang Xiaowei Yang Cheng Li Jingli Yan Jinghua Jiang Aibin Ma | 2017 | Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2017,5,2: | 10 |
| 4 | Potential of multi-pass ECAP on improving the mechanical properties of a high-calcium-content Mg-Al-Ca-Mn alloy显示文摘In this study,the multi-pass equal channel angular pressing(ECAP)was employed on a high-calcium-content Mg-Al-Ca-Mn alloy to tailor its microstructure and mechanical properties.The obtained results showed that the network-shaped Mg2Ca and(Mg,Al)2Ca eutectic compounds in as-cast alloy were gradually crushed into ultra-fine particles after ECAP,which exhibited a bimodal particle size distribution and most aggregated at original grain boundaries.Dynamic recrystallization(DRX)of α-Mg occurred during hot deformation via a particle stimulated mechanism,and the almost complete DRX with an average grain size around 1.5μm was obtained after 12p-ECAP.Moreover,abundant nano-sized acicular and spherical precipitates were dynamically precipitated withinα-Mg grains during ECAP.Tensile test results indicated that the maximum strength and ductility were acquired for 12p-ECAP alloy with ultimate tensile strength of 372 MPa and fracture elongation of 8%.The enhanced strength of the alloy could be ascribed to fine DRX grains,ultra-fine Ca-containing particles and dynamically precipitated nano-precipitates,while the improved ductility was mainly due to the refined and homogeneous microstructure,and weak texture with high average Schmid factors. | He Huang Huan Liu Ce Wang Jiapeng Sun Jing Bai Feng Xue Jinghua Jiang Aibin Ma | 2019 | Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2019,7,4: | 10 |

| 6 | Synergetic effects of aqueous extracts of Fuzi(Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata) and Tubeimu(Rhizoma Bolbostemmatis) on MDA-MB-231 and SKBR3 cells显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To test the synergistic effects of the aqueous extract of Tubeimu(Rhizoma Bolbostemmatis) and Fuzi(Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata) on MDA-MB-231 and SKBR3 breast cancer cells.METHODS: A combined index was created for the effects of Tubeimu(Rhizoma Bolbostemmatis) and Fuzi(Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata) extracts. Cell proliferation was performed by trypan blue exclusion and 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-5-(3- carboxymethoxyphenyl)-2-(4-sulfophenyl)-2H-tetrazolium(MTS) assays. Flow cytometry was used to assess cell cycle distribution and apoptosis. Cell migration was determined by wound-healing and transwell assays. Confocal microscopy was used to detect E-cadherin and actin filaments.RESULTS: The aqueous extract from Tubeimu(Rhizoma Bolbostemmatis) and Fuzi(Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata) exerted synergetic effects on the growth of MDA-MB-231 cells and G1 phase arrest.When exposed to extracts at concentrations of 62.5∶62.5 and 62.5∶31.3 μg/m L, the combination index was 0.83 and 0.74, respectively. Interestingly, 62.5∶31.3 μg/m L of combined drugs enhanced the inhibitory effect of Tubeimu(Rhizoma Bolbostemmatis)on the migration of SKBR3 cells and reduced the stimulative effect of Fuzi(Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata)(P < 0.01), in which cells showed an increased expression of E-cadherin and reorganization of actin filaments(P < 0.001). 62.5∶62.5 μg/m L extract also synergistically induced apoptosis of MDA-MB-231 cells(P < 0.05 and P < 0.001). | 7 | The origin of Wx^(la) provides new insights into the improvement of grain quality in rice显示文摘Appearance and taste are important factors in rice(Oryza sativa) grain quality. Here, we investigated the taste scores and related eating-quality traits of533 diverse cultivars to assess the relationships between—and genetic basis of—rice taste and eating-quality. A genome-wide association study highlighted the Wx gene as the major factor underlying variation in taste and eating quality. Notably, a novel waxy(Wx) allele, Wx^(la), which combined two mutations from Wx^(b) and Wx^(in), exhibited a unique phenotype. Reduced GBSSI activity conferred Wx^(la) rice with both a transparent appearance and good eating quality. Haplotype analysis revealed that Wx^(la) was derived from intragenic recombination. In fact,the recombination rate at the Wx locus was estimated to be 3.34 kb/c M, which was about 75-fold higher than the genome-wide mean, indicating that intragenic recombination is a major force driving diversity at the Wx locus. Based on our results, we propose a new network for Wx evolution, noting that new Wx alleles could easily be generated by crossing genotypes with different Wx alleles. | 8 | Comparison of the short-term and long-term outcomes of laparoscopic hysterectomies and of abdominal hysterectomies: a case study of 4,895 patients in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China显示文摘Background: To evaluate the short-term and long-term outcomes after laparoscopic hysterectomy(LH) compared with abdominal hysterectomy(AH) in case of benign gynecological disease. Methods: A multi-center cohort retrospective comparative study of population among 4,895 hysterectomies(3,539 LH vs.1,356 AH) between 2007 and 2013 was involved. Operative time(OT), estimated blood loss(EBL), intra-operative and post-operative complications, passing flatus; days with indwelling catheter, questionnaires covering pelvic floor functions and sexual functions were assessed.Results: The EBL(174.1±157.4 vs. 263.1±183.2 cc, LH and AH groups, respectively), passing flatus(38.7±14.1 vs. 48.1±13.2 hours), days with indwelling catheter(1.5±0.6 vs. 2.2±0.8 days), use of analgesics(6.5% vs. 73.1%), intra-operative complication rate(2.4% vs. 4.1%), post-operative complication rate(2.3% vs. 5.7%), post-operative constipation(12.1% vs. 24.6%), mild and serious stress urinary incontinence(SUI) post-operative(P<0.001; P=0.014), and proportion of Female Sexual Functioning Index(FSFI) total score <26.55 post-operative(P<0.001) of the LH group were significantly less than those of AH group. There wereno significant differences in OT(106.5±34.5 vs. 106.2±40.3 min) between the two groups.Conclusions: LH is a safe and efficient operation for improving patients' long-term quality of life(Qo L), and LH is a cost-effectiveness procedure for treating benign gynecological disease. | 10 | An injectable and self-healing hydrogel with controlled release of curcumin to repair spinal cord injury显示文摘The harsh local micro-environment following spinal cord injury(SCI)remains a great challenge for neural regeneration.Local reconstitution of a favorable micro-environment by biocompatible scaffolds with desirable functions has thus been an area of concern.Herein,a hybrid hydrogel was developed using Fmoc-grafted chitosan(FC)and Fmoc peptide(FI).Dynamic reversibleπ-πstacking interactions of the fluorenyl rings enabled the FC/FI hybrid hydrogel to exhibit excellent injectable and self-healing properties,as characterized by visual appearances and rheological tests.Furthermore,the FC/FI hybrid hydrogel showed a slow and persistent release of curcumin(Cur),which was named as FC/FI-Cur hydrogel.In vitro studies confirmed that with the support of FC/FI-Cur hydrogel,neurite outgrowth was promoted,and Schwann cell(SC)migration away from dorsal root ganglia(DRG)spheres with enhanced myelination was substantiated.The FC/FI-Cur hydrogel well reassembled extracellular matrix at the lesion site of rat spinal cord and exerted outstanding effects in modulating local inflammatory reaction by regulating the phenotypes of infiltrated inflammatory cells.In addition,endogenous SCs were recruited in the FC/FI-Cur graft and participated in the remyelination process of the regenerated nerves.These outcomes favored functional recovery,as evidenced by improved hind limbs movement and enhanced electrophysiological properties.Thus,our study not only advanced the development of multifunctional hydrogels but also provided insights into comprehensive approaches for SCI repair. | Jinghua Luo Xueshuang Shi Liming Li Zan Tan Feng Feng Jun Li Mao Pang Xiaoying Wang Liumin He | 2021 | Bioactive Materials2021,6,12: | 4 |

We found that electrostatic interaction of the core ma- terials with shell materials would determine whether the stable core-shell silica NPs formed or not. The traditional important factors such as molecular weight of core materials or the thickness of the shell have no obvious relationship with it. | 14 | Projection of droughts and their socioeconomic exposures based on terrestrial water storage anomaly over China显示文摘Global warming has altered the thermodynamic and dynamic environments of the climate system, thus affecting the energy budget and water cycle process of the land-atmosphere system. Under changes in key hydrological elements such as precipitation, runoff, and terrestrial water storage, future drought variation remains a complex question. Existing studies have utilized terrestrial water storage anomaly(TWSA) in drought monitoring and assessment, but they usually focused on either drought duration or intensity, overlooking the multi-faced attributes of droughts as well as their socioeconomic impacts under a non-stationary condition. In this study, we first identify dry/wet conditions over China using GRACE/GRACE-FO satellite observations, and then evaluate the feedback effects of humidity and energy factors(e.g., sensible heat flux, latent heat flux,atmospheric relative humidity, and convective available potential energy) to drought events. Future changes in TWSA and dry/wet conditions are projected by eight Coupled Model Inter-comparison Project Phase 6(CMIP6) global climate models(GCMs)under three shared socioeconomic pathways(SSPs), with their biases corrected by a trend-preserving quantile mapping method.The time-varying Copula function of drought duration and intensity is constructed by a moving windows method, and future bivariate drought risks are quantified with the most likely realization method. The population and GDP affected by increasing drought risks are finally quantified based on the SSPs data. It is found that the land-atmosphere coupling effects closely interact with drought evolution, and the uneven distribution of water resources is projected to be further aggravated, with most areas of China will be threatened by continuous drying tendency. By the end of the century, the duration of moderate, severe and exceptional droughts in some regions of China will double, and the drought intensity will increase by over 80%. | 16 | Using unmanned aerial vehicles with thermal-image acquisition cameras for animal surveys:a case study on the Sichuan snub-nosed monkey in the Qinling Mountains显示文摘Following significant developments in technology,alternative devices have been applied in fieldwork for animal and plant surveys.Thermal-image acquisition cameras installed on unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs)have been used in animal surveys in the wilderness.This article demonstrates an example of how UAVs can be used in high mountainous regions,presenting a case study on the Sichuan snub-nosed monkey with a detection rate of 65.19%for positive individual identification.It also presents a model that can prospectively predict population size for a given animal species,which is based on combined initial work using UAVs and traditional surveys on the ground.A great potential advantage of UAVs is significantly shortening survey procedures,particularly for areas with high mountains and plateaus,such as the Himalayas,the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau,Hengduan Mountains,the Yunnan-Gui Plateau and Qinling Mountains in China,where carrying out a traditional survey is extremely difficult,so that species and population surveys,particularly for critically endangered animals,are largely absent.This lack of data has impacted the management of endangered animals as well as the formulation and amendment of conservation strategies. | Gang HE Haitao YANG Ruliang PAN Yewen SUN Pengbin ZHENG Jinghua WANG Xuelin JIN Jingjie ZHANG Baoguo LI Songtao GUO | 2020 | Integrative Zoology2020,15,1: | 2 |

| 19 | Multifunctional oxygen-enriching nano-theranostics for cancer-specific magnetic resonance imaging and enhanced photodynamic/photothermal therapy显示文摘The combination of photodynamic therapy(PDT)and photothermal therapy(PTT)has attracted much interest in recent years,but non-specific distribution of photosensitizers and intrinsic tumor hypoxic microenvironment have continued to limit its therapeutic efficiency.We herein report a nano-theranostic system,denoted as Ce6-CuS/MSN@PDA@MnO2-FA NPs,which combines PDT,PTT,magnetic resonance(MR)imaging with hypoxia-relieving and tumor-targeting functionalities.Central to this design is the use of mussel-inspired polydopamine(PDA)coating to encapsulate the chlorin e6(Ce6)and copper sulfide nanoparticles(CuS NPs)loaded mesoporous silica nanoparticle(MSN)core.The PDA coating not only acts as pH sensitive gatekeeper to prevent the premature release of Ce6 under non-acidic tumor microenvironment(TME),but also facilitates post-functionalization so that hypoxia-relieving MnO2 nano-sheets and tumor-targeting ligand folic acid-PEG-thiol(FA-PEG-SH)can be decorated on the outer part of the drug system.In vitro and in vivo measurements clearly demonstrated that all these functionalities worked synergistically as expected.The system,having a low dark cytotoxicity,can be effectively internalized by 4T1 cells and decrease the cell viability to 2%upon 660 nm/808 nm laser irradiation.Tumors in 4T1 tumor-bearing mice can almost be completely destroyed in 2 weeks via combined PDT/PTT.Together with the TME-sensitive MR imaging performance demonstrated,Ce6-CuS/MSN@PDA@MnO2-FA NPs represent a multifunctional prototype which holds great potential to be developed into clinical theranostics. | Li Zhang Zhe Yang Jinghua Ren Li Ba Wenshan He Chun-Yuen Wong | 2020 | Nano Research2020,13,5: | 1 |
