| 1 | Responses of rice growth to copper stress under free-air CO_2 enrichment (FACE)显示文摘The responses of rice to the second degree contamination of copper were studied by pot experiments under free-air CO2 enrichment (FACE) with 570 μmol·mol-1 of CO2. The results showed that the content of copper in rice leaves was reduced with the CO2 concentration reaching 570 μmol·mol-1 and this happened more significantly under the second degree contamination of copper. Under FACE, activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD) enzyme in rice leaves treated by copper contamination were induced, whereas the contents of glutathione (GSH) and glutathione disulfide (GSSG) had no significant difference from the control. In the presence of ambient CO2, activities of SOD enzyme treated by copper pollution were suppressed during the whole rice growth, however, the contents of GSH and GSSG were induced at tillering and jointing stages, and then restored to the control levels in later growth under the second degree contamination of copper. With the rice growing, the content of malondialdehyde (MDA) rises continuously, but there had been no significant difference between the treatments at the same growth stage. | 2 | Characteristics of distribution of Mycobacterium tuberculosis lineages in China显示文摘The genotyping methods of Mycobacterium tuberculosis would dramatically improve our understanding of the molecular epidemiology of tuberculosis. 3,929 isolates, from a National Survey of Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis in 2007 in China, were successfully genotyped by large sequence polymorphisms and 15 loci variable number tandem repeats. We found that 2,905(2,905/3,929, 73.9%) cases belonged to Lineage 2, dominated in the east and central regions, 975 cases(975/3,929, 24.8%) were Lineage 4, highly prevailed in the west regions, and 36 and 13 cases were Lineage 3 and Lineage 1, respectively. We also explored the associations between lineages(Lineage 2 vs. Lineage 4) and clinical characteristics by logistic regression. For Lineage 2, the risk factors were Han-ethnicity population and fever. However, for Lineage 4, they were occupation(farmer), and degree of education(non-literate). | 8 | Correlation of effective hepatic blood flow with liver pathology in patients with hepatitis B virus显示文摘Background and aims:Effective hepatic blood flow(EHBF)decreases with liver disease progression,and identifying liver pathology is critical for patients with liver disease.This study was designed to elucidate the correlation between EHBF and liver pathology and explore the potential of EHBF for predicting the degree of liver pathology.Methods:In this study,207 patients with hepatitis B virus(HBV)who underwent liver biopsy and indocyanine green(ICG)clearance tests were enrolled.EHBF was measured using the ICG clearance test,and liver tissue was histologically analyzed to determine the pathological stage according to the Scheuer scoring system.Demographic data,biochemical indexes,and FibroScan data were collected for statistical analysis.Results:EHBF levels decreased as the liver histological stages of inflammation and fibrosis increased(P<0.01).EHBF was significantly negatively associated with the levels of alanine aminotransferase,aspartate aminotransferase,gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase,alkaline phosphatase,aspartate aminotransferase-to-platelet ratio index,fibrosis index based on the four factors,and liver stiffness measurement(P<0.05).The EHBF levels of patients without liver inflammation(G0)were significantly higher than those of patients with liver inflammation(G1e4)(P<0.001).The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUROC)value for discriminating patients without liver inflammation was 0.827,and the optimal cutoff value was 0.936 L/min.The EHBF levels of patients with severe liver inflammation(G4)were significantly lower than those of patients with G0e3 liver inflammation(P<0.001).The AUROC value for discriminating patients with severe liver inflammation was 0.792,and the optimal cutoff value was 0.552 L/min.The EHBF levels of patients without liver fibrosis(S0)were significantly higher than those of patients with liver fibrosis(S1e4)(P<0.001).The AUROC value for discriminating patients without liver fibrosis was 0.633,and the optimal cutoff value was 1.173 L/min.The EHBF levels of patients with liver cirrhosis(S4)were significantly lower than those of patients with S0e3 liver fibrosis(P<0.001).The AUROC value for discriminating patients with liver cirrhosis(S4)was 0.630,and the optimal cutoff value was 0.562 L/min.Conclusions:EHBF levels and liver pathology are significantly correlated.EHBF could effectively reflect liver inflammation and fibrosis in patients infected with HBV,especially for patients without liver inflammation or liver fibrosis. | Xin Shu Haixia Sun Xiaoan Yang Yifan Jia Peiyan Xu Hong Cao Ka Zhang | 2021 | Liver Research2021,5,4: | 1 |

| 11 | Genome-wide high-resolution mapping of mitotic DNA synthesis sites and common fragile sites by direct sequencing显示文摘Common fragile sites(CFSs)are genomic loci prone to the formation of breaks or gaps on metaphase chromosomes.They are hotspots for chromosome rearrangements and structural variations,which have been extensively implicated in carcinogenesis,aging,and other pathological processes.Although many CFSs were identified decades ago,a consensus is still lacking for why they are particularly unstable and sensitive to replication perturbations.This is in part due to the lack of high-resolution mapping data for the vast majority of the CFSs,which has hindered mechanistic interrogations.Here,we seek to map human CFSs with high resolution on a genome-wide scale by sequencing the sites of mitotic DNA synthesis(MiDASeq)that are specific for CFSs.We generated a nucleotide-resolution atlas of MiDAS sites(MDSs)that covered most of the known CFSs,and comprehensively analyzed their sequence characteristics and genomic features.Our data on MDSs tallied well with long-standing hypotheses to explain CFS fragility while highlighting the contributions of late replication timing and large transcription units.Notably,the MDSs also encompassed most of the recurrent double-strand break clusters previously identified in mouse neural stem/progenitor cells,thus bridging evolutionarily conserved break points across species.Moreover,MiDAseq provides an important resource that can stimulate future research on CFSs to further unravel the mechanisms and biological relevance underlying these labile genomic regions. | Fang Ji Hongwei Liao Sheng Pan Liujian Ouyang Fang Jia Zaiyang Fu Fengjiao Zhang Xinwei Geng Xinming Wang Tingting Li Shuangying Liu Madiha Zahra Syeda Haixia Chen Wen Li Zhihua Chen Huahao Shen Songmin Ying | 2020 | Cell Research2020,30,11: | 1 |
