| 2 | PREVALENCE AND RISK FACTORS OF PERIPHERAL ARTERIAL DISEASE IN DIABETIC PATIENTS OVER 50 YEARS OLD IN CHINA显示文摘Objective To investigate the prevalence of peripheral arterial disease (PAD) in China type 2 diabetic patients and to demonstrate the relationships between putative risk factors and PAD. Methods In total 1 397 type 2 diabetic patients aged 50 years and older were enrolled and determined ankle-brachial index (ABI) and brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV) in 15 Class III Grade A hospitals in 7 major cities of China. Results Mean patient age was 63.7±8.2 years and mean duration of diabetes mellitus was 9.39±7.4 years. Two hundreds and seventy-two (19.47%) patients were diagnosed as PAD by ABI <0.9, 122 (18.37%) in male and 150 (20.46%) in female. PAD patients had a significantly longer duration of diabetes mellitus, higher hemoglobin Alc, and a significantly lower mean body mass index than non-PAD ones. Aging, smoking, and systolic blood pressure were found to be positively related with the prevalence of PAD. In terms of lipid profiles, no variable was found to relate with PAD. Notably, baPWV showed as the same significant guiding index for PAD, almost matched with ABI. Conclusions PAD is a common complication in China type 2 diabetic patients. | 4 | Detection of RASSF1A promoter hypermethylation in serum from gastric and colorectal adenocarcinoma patients显示文摘AIM:To evaluate the diagnostic role of serum RASSF1A promoter hypermethylation in gastric and colorectal ad- enocarcinoma. METHODS:Methylation-specific polymerase chain reac- tion (MSPCR) was used to examine the promoter meth- ylation status of the serum RASSF1A gene in 47 gastric adenocarcinoma patients, 45 colorectal adenocarcinoma patients, 60 patients with benign gastrointestinal dis- ease (30 with benign gastric disease and 30 with benign colorectal disease), and 30 healthy donor controls. Apaired study of RASSF1A promoter methylation status in primary tumor, adjacent normal tissue, and postopera- tive serum were conducted in 25 gastric and colorectal adenocarcinoma patients who later were underwent sur- gical therapy. RESULTS:The frequencies of detection of serum RASSF1A promoter hypermethylation in gastric (34.0%) and colorectal (28.9%) adenocarcinoma patients were significantly higher than those in patients with benign gastric (3.3%) or colorectal (6.7%) disease or in healthy donors (0%) (P < 0.01). The methylation status of RASSF1A promoter in serum samples was consistent with that in paired primary tumors, and the MSPCR results for RASSF1A promoter methylation status in paired preoperative samples were consistent with those in postoperative serum samples. The serum RASSF1A promoter hypermethylation did not correlate with patient sex, age, tumor differentiation grade, surgical therapy, or serum carcinoembryonic antigen level. Although the serum RASSF1A promoter hypermethylation frequency tended to be higher in patients with distant metastases, there was no correlation between methylation status and metastasis. | 5 | The antitumor effect of tanshinone IIA on antiproliferation and decreasing VEGF/VEGFR2 expression on the human non-small cell lung cancer A549 cell line显示文摘The effects of tanshinone IIA on the proliferation of the human non-small cell lung cancer cell line A549 and its possible mechanism on the VEGF/VEGFR signal pathway were investigated.The exploration of the interaction between tanshinone IIA and its target proteins provides a feasible platform for studying the anticancer mechanism of active components of herbs.The CCK-8 assay was used to evaluate the proliferative activity of A549 cells treated with tanshinone IIA(2.5 80 μmol/L) for 24,48 and 72 h,respectively.Flow cytometry was used for the detection of cell apoptosis and cell cycle perturbation.VEGF and VEGFR2 expression were studied by Western blotting.The binding mode of tanshinone IIA within thecrystal structure of the VEGFR2 protein was evaluated with molecular docking analysis by use of the CDOCKER algorithm in Discovery Studio 2.1.The CCK-8 results showed that tanshinone IIA can significantly inhibit A549 cell proliferation in a dose-and time-dependent manner.Flow cytometry results showed that the apoptosis rate of tested group was higher than the vehicle control,and tanshinone IIAtreated cells accumulated at the S phase,which was higher than the vehicle control.Furthermore,the expression of VEGF and VEGFR2 was decreased in Western blot.Finally,molecular docking analysis revealed that tanshinone IIA could be stably docked into the kinase domain of VEGFR2 protein with its unique modes to form H-bonds with Cys917 and π–π stacking interactions with Val848.In conclusion,tanshinone IIA may suppress A549 proliferation,induce apoptosis and cell cycle arrest at the S phase.This drug may suppress angiogenesis by targeting the protein kinase domains of VEGF/VEGFR2. | Jun Xie Jiahui Liu Heng Liu Shihui Liang Meigui Lin Yueyu Gu Taoli Liu Dongmei Wang Hui Gee Sui-lin Mo | 2015 | Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2015,5,6: | 26 |

| 7 | Effects of four regulating-intestine prescriptions on pathology and ultrastructure of colon tissue in rats with ulcerative colitis显示文摘AIM: To observe different histomorphologic changes of ulcerative colitis (UC) rats that were treated with four regulating-intestine prescriptions (FRIP), to investigate the curative effects of FRIP and to analyze their treatment mechanism.METHODS: The UC rat model was made by the method of 2,4-dinitro chloro benzene (DNCB) immunity and acetic acid local enema. Ninety-eight SD rats were randomly divided into seven groups, namely, the normal control group, model group, salicylazosulfapyridine (SASP) group,Wumeiwan (WMW) group, Baitouwengtang (BTWT) group,Senglingbaishusan (SLBSS) group, and Tongxieyaofang (TXYF) group. Each group had 14 rats (with equal ratio of male and female). The six animal model groups of UC-SASP, TXYF, WMW, BTWT, SLBSS, TXYF-were treated by distilled water except the normal control group. Changes of the rat's general conditions after treatment were respectively observed, the colon tissue damage scores were given out, the pathology of colonic mucosa and changes of ultrastructure were analyzed.RESULTS: Different pathological changes on histology were shown after treatment by FRIP. The colon tissue damage score in model group was higher than that of FRIP groups and SASP group (q = 4.59, 4.77, P<0.05 or q = 5.48,6.25, 5.97, P<0.01). The scores of WMW group, BTWT group and SLBSS group were lower than that of SASP (q = 4.13, P<0.05 or q = 5.31, 5.12, P<0.01). There was no remarkable difference between the damage score of TXYF group and SASP group (q = 3.75, P>0.05). | 12 | Porous high entropy(Zr0.2Hf0.2Ti0.2Nb0.2Ta0.2)B2: A novel strategy towards making ultrahigh temperature ceramics thermal insulating显示文摘Transition metal diborides based ultrahigh temperature ceramics(UHTCs) are characterized by high melting point, high strength and hardness, and high electrical and thermal conductivity. The high thermal conductivity arises from both electronic and phonon contributions. Thus electronic and phonon contributions must be controlled simultaneously in reducing the thermal conductivity of transition metal diborides. In high entropy(HE) materials, both electrons and phonons are scattered such that the thermal conductivity can significantly be reduced, which opens a new window to design novel insulating materials. Inspired by the high entropy effect, porous HE(Zr0.2Hf0.2Ti0.2Nb0.2Ta0.2)B2 is designed in this work as a new thermal insulting ultrahigh temperature material and is synthesized by an in-situ thermal borocarbon reduction/partial sintering process. The porous HE(Zr0.2Hf0.2Ti0.2Nb0.2Ta0.2)B2 possesses high porosity of 75.67%, pore size of 0.3–1.2 μm, homogeneous microstructure with small grain size of 400–800 nm, which results in low room temperature thermal diffusivity and thermal conductivity of 0.74 mm2 s^-1 and 0.51 W m^-1K^-1, respectively. In addition, it exhibits high compressive strength of3.93 MPa. | 13 | End-stage liver disease score and future liver remnant volume predict post-hepatectomy liver failure in hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘BACKGROUND Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is the world’s sixth most common malignant tumor and the third cause of cancer death.Although great progress has been made in hepatectomy,it is still associated with a certain degree of risk of posthepatectomy liver failure(PHLF),which extends the length of hospital stay and remains the leading cause of postoperative death.Studies have shown that assessment of hepatic functional reserve before hepatectomy is beneficial for reducing the incidence of PHLF.AIM To assess the value of model for end-stage liver disease(MELD)score combined with standardized future liver remnant(sFLR)volume in predicting PHLF in patients undergoing hepatectomy for HCC.METHODS This study was attended by 238 patients with HCC who underwent hepatectomy between January 2015 and January 2018.Discrimination of sFLR volume,MELD score,and sFLR/MELD ratio to predict PHLF was evaluated according to the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve.RESULTS The patients were divided into two groups according to whether PHLF occurred after hepatectomy.The incidence of PHLF was 8.4%in our research.The incidence of PHLF increased with the decrease in sFLR volume and the increase in MELD score.Both sFLR volume and MELD score were considered independent predictive factors for PHLF.Moreover,the cut-off value of the sFLR/MELD score to predict PHLF was 0.078(P<0.001).This suggests that an sFLR/MELD≥0.078 indicates a higher incidence of PHLF than an sFLR/MELD<0.078.CONCLUSION MELD combined with sFLR is a reliable and effective PHLF predictor,which is superior to MELD score or sFLR volume alone. | Fan-Hua Kong Xiong-Ying Miao Heng Zou Li Xiong Yu Wen Bo Chen Xi Liu Jiang-Jiao Zhou | 2019 | World Journal of Clinical Cases2019,7,22: | 14 |

| 15 | High entropy(Y0.2Yb0.2Lu0.2Eu0.2Er0.2)3Al5O12:A novel high temperature stable thermal barrier material显示文摘Ytterbium aluminum garnet(Yb3Al5O12)is considered as a promising thermal barrier material.However,the main limitations of Yb3Al5O12 for thermal barrier applications are relative low thermal expansion coefficient and high thermal conductivity.In order to overcome these obstacles,herein,a new high entropy(Y0.2Yb0.2Lu0.2Eu0.2Er0.2)3Al5O12 ceramic was designed,and then powders and bulk were prepared through solid-state reaction method and spark plasma sintering(SPS),respectively.The thermal expansion coefficient of HE(Y0.2Yb0.2Lu0.2Eu0.2Er0.2)3Al5O12 is(8.54±0.29)×10^-6 K^-1 at 673 K–1273 K,which is about 9%higher than that of Yb3Al5O12.The thermal conductivity of HE(Y0.2Yb0.2Lu0.2Eu0.2Er0.2)3Al5O12 ceramic is 3.81 W·m^-1 K^-1 at 300 K,which is about 18%lower than that of Yb3Al5O12.Moreover,there is no reaction between HE(Y0.2Yb0.2Lu0.2Eu0.2Er0.2)3Al5O12 and thermally grown(TG)Al2O3 even at 1600℃.After annealing at 1590℃for 18 h,the average grain size of HE(Y0.2Yb0.2Lu0.2Eu0.2Er0.2)3Al5O12 increases only from 1.56μm to 2.27μm.Close thermal expansion coefficient to TG Al2O3,low thermal conductivity,good phase stability,excellent chemical compatibility with TG Al2O3 and slow grain growth rate make HE(Y0.2Yb0.2Lu0.2Eu0.2Er0.2)3Al5O12 promising for thermal barrier applications. | Heng Chen Zifan Zhao Huimin Xiang Fu-Zhi Dai Wei Xu Kuang Sun Jiachen Liu Yanchun Zhou | 2020 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2020,47,13: | 14 |
| 16 | Overexpression and Immunosuppressive Functions of Transforming Growth Factor 1,Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor and Interleukin-10 in Epithelial Ovarian Cancer显示文摘Objective: Transforming growth factor-1 (TGF-β1), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), and interleukin-10 (IL-10) may be critical cytokines in the microenvironment of a tumor, playing roles in immune suppression. This study was conducted to elucidate the roles and immunosuppressive functions of these cytokines in epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC). Methods: The expression levels of TGF-β1, VEGF and IL-10 in malignant tissue were evaluated by immune-histochemistry and compared with corresponding borderline, benign, and tumor-free tissues. Moreover, relationships among the levels of these cytokines and correlations between expression and the prognosis of EOC were analyzed by Pearson rank correlations and multi-factor Logistic regression. The roles of TGF-β1, VEGF, and IL-10 in the immunosuppressive microenvironment of ovarian cancer were studied through dendritic cell (DC) maturation and CD4+CD25+FoxP3+Treg generation in vitro experiments. Results: TGF-β1, VEGF, and IL-10 were expressed in 100%, 74.69%, and 54.96% of EOC patients, respectively. TGF-β1 was an independent prognostic factor for EOC. IL-10 was significantly co-expressed with VEGF. In vitro, VEGF and TGF-β1 strongly interfered with DC maturation and consequently led to immature DCs, which secreted high levels of IL-10 that accumulated around the tumor site. TGF-β1 and IL-10 induced Treg generation without antigen presentation in DCs. However, key microRNAs and related pathways for differentiation remain unclear. This study screened and identified differentially expressed microRNAs in bone marrow- derived mesenchymal stem cells induced by Schwann cell-conditioned medium, and explored targets and related pathways involved in their differentiation into neuronal-like cells. Primary bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells were isolated from femoral and tibial bones, while primary Schwann cells were isolated from bilateral saphenous nerves. Bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells were cultured in unconditioned (control group) and Schwann cell-conditioned medium (bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cell + Schwann cell group). Neuronal differentiation of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells induced by Schwann cell-conditioned medium was observed by time-lapse imaging. Upon induction, the morphology of bone marrow-derived mesencaymal stem cells changed into a neural shape with neurites. Results of quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction revealed that nestin mRNA expression was upregulated from 1 to 3 days and downregulated from 3 to 7 days in the bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cell + Schwann cell group. Compared with the control group, microtubule-associated protein 2 mRNA expression gradually increased from 1 to 7 days in the bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cell + Schwann cell group. After 7 days of induction, microRNA analysis iden:ified 83 significantly differentially expressed microRNAs between the two groups. Gene Ontology analysis indicated enrichment of microRNA target genes for neuronal projection development, regulation of axonogenesis, and positive regulation of cell proliferation. Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway analysis demonstrated that Hippo, Wnt, transforming growth factor-beta, and Hedgehog signaling pathv/ays were potentially associated with neural differentiation of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells. This study, which carried out successful microRNA analysis of neuronal-like cells differentiated from bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells by Schwann cell induction, revealed key microRNAs and pathways involved in neural differentiation of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells. | 18 | Achieving strong microwave absorption capability and wide absorption bandwidth through a combination of high entropy rare earth silicide carbides/rare earth oxides显示文摘Developing electromagnetic(EM) wave absorbing materials with low reflection coefficient and optimal operating frequency band is urgently needed on account of the increasingly serious EM pollution. However, the applications of common EM absorbing materials are encumbered by poor high-temperature stability, poor oxidation resistance, narrow absorption bandwidth or high density. Herein, the strong EM absorption capability and wide efficient absorption bandwidth of high entropy ceramics are reported for the first time, which are designed by a combination of the novel high entropy(HE) rare earth silicide carbides/rare earth oxides(RE3 Si2 C2/RE2 O3). Three HE powders, i.e., HERSC-1(HE(Tm0.2 Y0.2 Dy0.2 Gd0.2 Tb0.2)3 Si2 C2),HERSC-2 HE(Tm0.2 Y0.2 Dy0.2 Gd0.2 Tb0.2)3 Si2 C2/HE(Tm0.2 Y0.2 Dy0.2 Gd0.2 Tb0.2)2 O3) and HERSC-3(HE(Tm0.2 Y0.2 Dy0.2 Gd0.2 Tb0.2)3 Si2 C2/HE(Tm0.2 Y0.2 Dy0.2 Gd0.2 Tb0.2)2 O3), are synthesized. | 19 | Cultivated land information extraction in UAV imagery based on deep convolutional neural network and transfer learning显示文摘The development of precision agriculture demands high accuracy and efficiency of cultivated land information extraction. As a new means of monitoring the ground in recent years, unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) low-height remote sensing technique, which is flexible, efficient with low cost and with high resolution, is widely applied to investing various resources. Based on this, a novel extraction method for cultivated land information based on Deep Convolutional Neural Network and Transfer Learning(DTCLE) was proposed. First, linear features(roads and ridges etc.) were excluded based on Deep Convolutional Neural Network(DCNN). Next, feature extraction method learned from DCNN was used to cultivated land information extraction by introducing transfer learning mechanism. Last, cultivated land information extraction results were completed by the DTCLE and e Cognition for cultivated land information extraction(ECLE). The location of the Pengzhou County and Guanghan County, Sichuan Province were selected for the experimental purpose. The experimental results showed that the overall precision for the experimental image 1, 2 and 3(of extracting cultivated land) with the DTCLE method was 91.7%, 88.1% and 88.2% respectively, and the overall precision of ECLE is 90.7%, 90.5% and 87.0%, respectively.
