2Are humic substances soil microbial residues or unique synthesized compounds?A perspective on their distinctiveness显示文摘Humic substances(HS),which are defined as a series of highly acidic,relatively high-molecular-weight,and yellow to black colored substances formed during the decay and transformation of plant and microbial remains,ubiquitously occur in nature.Humic substances represent the largest stable organic carbon pool in terrestrial environments and are the central characteristic of the soil.However,the validity of the HS concept and the justification of their extraction procedure have been recently debated.Here,we argue that the traditional humic paradigm is still relevant.Humic substances are distinctive and complex because the extracted HS formed during the humification are chemically distinct from their precursors and are heterogeneous among soils.By reviewing the concept,formation pathways,and stabilization of HS,we propose that the key question facing soil scientists is whether HS are soil microbial residues or unique synthesized compounds.Without revealing the distinctiveness of HS,it is impossible to address this question,as the structure,composition,and reactivity of HS are still poorly known owing to the heterogeneity and geographical variability of HS and the limits of the currently available analytical techniques.In our view,the distinctiveness of HS is fundamental to the soil,and thus further studies should be focused on revealing the distinctiveness of HS and explaining why HS hold this distinctiveness.Sen DOU Jun SHAN Xiangyun SONG Rui CAO Meng WU Chenglin LI Song GUAN 2020Pedosphere2020,30,2:12

4Lithium-assisted synergistic engineering of charge transport both in GBs and GI for Ag-substituted Cu2ZnSn(S,Se)4 solar cells显示文摘Although silver(Ag) substitution offers several benefits in eliminating bulk defects and facilitating interface type inversion for Cu2ZnSn(S,Se)4(CZTSSe) photovoltaic(PV) technology, its further development is still hindered by the fairly low electrical conductivity due to the significant decrease of acceptors amount.In this work, a versatile Li–Ag co-doping strategy is demonstrated to mitigate the poor electrical conductivity arising from Ag through direct incorporating Li via postdeposition treatment(PDT) on top of the Ag-substituted CZTSSe absorber. Depth characterizations demonstrate that Li incorporation increases ptype carrier concentration, improves the carrier collection within the bulk, reduces the defects energy level as well as inverts the electric field polarity at grain boundaries(GBs) for Ag-substituted CZTSSe system. Benefiting from this lithium-assisted complex engineering of electrical performance both in grain interior(GI) and GBs, the power conversion efficiency(PCE) is finally increased from 9.21% to 10.29%. 5Research of an SHPB Device in Two-by-Two Form for Impact Experiments of Concrete-Like Heterogeneous Materials显示文摘A split Hopkinson pressure bar(SHPB)device in two-by-two form,including the bar bundle form and the single cylindrical bar form,was designed in response to the demand for the dynamic mechanical experiments for brittle materials such as concrete,rock,etc.The stress waveforms generated through a projectile impacting two different types of incident bars have been studied based on the one-dimensional stress wave theory and numerical simulation method.At last,based on the established two types of mesoscale concrete models with random convex polyhedral aggregates,we performed comparison analysis of SHPB numerical simulations for concrete materials with bar bundle and single cylindrical bar separately,so as to provide technical support for the manufacture and development of this experimental device.The results showed that the introduced two-by-two form SHPB device expanded the scope of practical application,and the wave dispersion effect existing in a large-diameter bar can be evidently reduced when we employed the bar bundle form,indicating its applicability to the dynamic mechanical experiments of concrete-like heterogeneous materials.Ruiqi Guo Huiqi Ren Lei Zhang Zhilin Long Xiangyun Wu Hailu Wang 2021Acta Mechanica Solida Sinica2021,34,4:2

8A real-time and modular approach for quick detection and mechanism exploration of DPIs with different carrier particle sizes显示文摘Dry powder inhalers(DPIs) had been widely used in lung diseases on account of direct pulmonary delivery, good drug stability and satisfactory patient compliance. However, an indistinct understanding of pulmonary delivery processes(PDPs) hindered the development of DPIs. Most current evaluation methods explored the PDPs with over-simplified models, leading to uncompleted investigations of the whole or partial PDPs. In the present research, an innovative modular process analysis platform(MPAP) was applied to investigate the detailed mechanisms of each PDP of DPIs with different carrier particle sizes(CPS). The MPAP was composed of a laser particle size analyzer, an inhaler device,an artificial throat and a pre-separator, to investigate the fluidization and dispersion, transportation,detachment and deposition process of DPIs. The release profiles of drug, drug aggregation and carrier were monitored in real-time. The influence of CPS on PDPs and corresponding mechanisms were explored. The powder properties of the carriers were investigated by the optical profiler and Freeman Technology four powder rheometer. The next generation impactor was employed to explore the aerosolization performance of DPIs. 16Early Diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder Coming Soon:Application of an Oxidative Stress Injury Biomarker(BIOS)Model显示文摘Early distinction of bipolar disorder(BD)from major depressive disorder(MDD)is difficult since no tools are available to estimate the risk of BD.In this study,we aimed to develop and validate a model of oxidative stress injury for predicting BD.Data were collected from 1252 BD and 1359 MDD patients,including 64 MDD patients identified as converting to BD from 2009 through 2018.30 variables from a randomly-selected subsample of 1827(70%)patients were used to develop the model,including age,sex,oxidative stress markers(uric acid,bilirubin,albumin,and prealbumin),sex hormones,cytokines,thyroid and liver function,and glycolipid metabolism.Univariate analyses and the Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator were applied for data dimension reduction and variable selection.Multivariable logistic regression was used to construct a model for predicting bipolar disorder by oxidative stress biomarkers(BIOS)on a nomogram.Internal validation was assessed in the remaining 784 patients(30%),and independent external validation was done with data from 3797 matched patients from five other hospitals in China.10 predictors,mainly oxidative stress markers,were shown on the nomogram.The BIOS model showed good discrimination in the training sample,with an AUC of 75.1%(95%CI:72.9%–77.3%),sensitivity of 0.66,and specificity of 0.73.The discrimination was good both in internal validation(AUC 72.1%,68.6%–75.6%)and external validation(AUC 65.7%,63.9%–67.5%).In this study,we developed a nomogram centered on oxidative stress injury,which could help in the individualized prediction of BD.For better real-world practice,a set of measurements,especially on oxidative stress markers,should be emphasized using big data in psychiatry.Zhiang Niu Xiaohui Wu Yuncheng Zhu Lu Yang Yifan Shi Yun Wang Hong Qiu Wenjie Gu Yina Wu Xiangyun Long Zheng Lu Shaohua Hu Zhijian Yao Haichen Yang Tiebang Liu Yong Xia Zhiyu Chen Jun Chen Yiru Fang 2022Neuroscience Bulletin2022,38,9:1

18Ubiquitin-specific protease 47 regulates intestinal inflammation through deubiquitination of TRAF6 in epithelial cells显示文摘Deubiquitinates(DUBs) alter the stabilities, localizations or activities of substrates by removing their ubiquitin conjugates,which are closely related to the development of inflammatory response. Here, we show that ubiquitin-specific protease 47(USP47) prevents inflammation development in inflammatory bowel disease(IBD). Compared with wild-type mice, Usp47 knockout mice are more susceptible to dextran sodium sulfate(DSS)-induced acute and chronic colitis with higher inflammatory cytokines expression and severe intestinal tissue damage. Chimeric mouse experiments suggest that non-hematopoietic cells mainly contribute to the phenotype. And, DSS-induced colitis of the Usp47 knockout mice depends on commensal bacteria.Mechanistically, down-regulation of USP47 aggravates the activation of NF-κB signaling pathway by increasing the K63-linked poly-ubiquitination of tumor necrosis factor receptor-associated factor 6(TRAF6) in intestinal epithelial cells. Furthermore, the expression of USP47, negatively correlated with the degree of inflammation, is lower at colonic inflammatory lesions than that non-inflammatory sites from the intestine from ulcerative colitis(UC) and Crohn's disease(CD) patients.
