1Accelerated design and characterization of non-uniform cellular materials via a machine-learning based framework显示文摘Cellular materials,widely found in engineered and nature systems,are highly dependent on their geometric arrangement.A nonuniform arrangement could lead to a significant variation of mechanical properties while bringing challenges in material design.Here,this proof-of-concept study demonstrates a machine-learning based framework with the capability of accelerated characterization and pattern generation.Results showed that the proposed framework is capable of predicting the mechanical response curve of any given geometric pattern within the design domain under appropriate neural network architecture and parameters.Additionally,the framework is capable of generating matching geometric patterns for a targeted response through a databank constructed from our machine learning model.The accuracy of the predictions was verified with finite element simulations and the sources of errors were identified.Overall,our machine-learning based framework can boost the design efficiency of cellular materials at unit level,and open new avenues for the programmability of function at system level.Chunping Ma Zhiwei Zhang Benjamin Luce Simon Pusateri Binglin Xie Mohammad H.Rafiei Nan Hu 2020npj Computational Materials2020,,1:3

6IL-6R blockade by chikusetsusaponin IVa butyl ester inhibits Th17 cell differentiation and ameliorates collagen-induced arthritis显示文摘Interleukin(IL)-6 is central to the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis(RA).1 IL-6 receptor(IL-6R)blockade is an effective treatment strategy for RA based on the clinical efficacy of tocilizumab.However,serious infections are the most frequent adverse events associated with long-term monotherapy with tocilizumab,an exogenous biomacromolecule.2 Novel small-molecule IL-6R inhibitors with fewer deleterious side effects could therefore have potential as RA treatments.We previously identified chikusetsusaponin IVa butyl ester(CS)as a natural small-molecule IL-6R antagonist.3 Here,we assessed the effects of CS on a mouse model of collagen-induced arthritis(CIA)to evaluate its therapeutic potential against RA.The results showed that CS ameliorated arthritis in CIA mice by inhibiting T-helper 17(Th17)cell differentiation and could serve as a novel agent for treating RA.Jie Yang Yuanyuan Ling Di Hua Chenglei Zhao Xiaoyan Sun Xueting Cai Jiao Chen Chunping Hu Peng Cao 2021Cellular & Molecular Immunology2021,18,6:1

11Green synthesis of Chlorin e6 and tests of its photosensitive bactericidal activities显示文摘Phototoxic treatments of pathogenic bacteria and fungi of trees induce oxidative damage that is preferable to toxic chemical treatment.Here,we used green methods to synthesize Chlorin e6 from chlorophyll a,which was extracted from crude silkworm excrement using concentrated(strong)alkali hydrolysis and acidification.The photosensitive bactericidal activities of the new chlorin were tested in vitro,and possible mechanisms of action are discussed.The results showed that Chlorin e6 can be lightactivated to have bactericidal activity against Escherichia coli,Bacillus subtilis and Fusarium oxysporum,but it had little bactericidal effect in the dark.This kind of chlorin compounds has great potential as a natural phototoxic antimicrobial compound to control harmful bacteria on the leaves in forestry systems.Guocai Zhang Jing Yang Chunping Hu Xiucheng Zhang Xiao Li Shan Gao Xiao Ouyang Ning Ma Hao Wei 2019Journal of Forestry Research2019,30,6:0
12Assessing outdoor air quality vertically in an urban street canyon and its response to microclimatic factors显示文摘The vertical distribution of air pollutants in urban street canyons is closely related to residents’health.However,the vertical air quality in urban street canyons has rarely been assessed using field observations obtained throughout the year.Therefore,this study investigated the seasonal and annual concentrations of particulate matter(PM2.5 and PM10),CO,NO_(2),SO_(2),O_(3),air quality index,and their responses to microclimatic factors at three height levels(1.5,27,and 69 m above street level)in an urban street canyon.The PM concentration was higher at 27 m than at 1.5 m in winter,whereas the situation was reversed in other seasons.It was found that photochemical pollutants such as NO_(2) and O_(3) were the primary pollutants in the urban street canyon.The days on which O3 was the primary pollutant at the height of 1.5 m accounted for 81.07% of the entire year.The days on which NO_(2) was the primary pollutant at the height of 27 and 69 m accounted for 82.49% and 72.33%of the entire year,respectively.Substantially higher concentrations of NO2 and O_(3) were found at the height of 27 m than at 69 m.In-canyon concentrations of NO_(2) and O_(3) were strongly correlated with air temperature,wind speed,and wind direction,which played important roles in photochemical reactions and pollutant dispersion.Chunping Miao Shuai Yu Yue Zhang Yuanman Hu Xingyuan He Wei Chen 2023Journal of Environmental Sciences2023,,2:0
13Relational Topology-based Heterogeneous Network Embedding for Predicting Drug-Target Interactions显示文摘Predicting interactions between drugs and target proteins has become an essential task in the drug discovery process.Although the method of validation via wet-lab experiments has become available,experimental methods for drug-target interaction(DTI)identification remain either time consuming or heavily dependent on domain expertise.Therefore,various computational models have been proposed to predict possible interactions between drugs and target proteins.However,most prediction methods do not consider the topological structures characteristics of the relationship.In this paper,we propose a relational topologybased heterogeneous network embedding method to predict drug-target interactions,abbreviated as RTHNE_DTI.We first construct a heterogeneous information network based on the interaction between different types of nodes,to enhance the ability of association discovery by fully considering the topology of the network.Then drug and target protein nodes can be represented by the other types of nodes.According to the different topological structure of the relationship between the nodes,we divide the relationship in the heterogeneous network into two categories and model them separately.Extensive experiments on the realworld drug datasets,RTHNE_DTI produces high efficiency and outperforms other state-of-the-art methods.RTHNE_DTI can be further used to predict the interaction between unknown interaction drug-target pairs.Linlin Zhang Chunping Ouyang Fuyu Hu Yongbin Liu Zheng Gao 2023Data Intelligence2023,5,2:0
