1Meso-Cenozoic Evolution of Earth Surface System under the East Asian Tectonic Superconvergence显示文摘The East Asian geological setting has a long duration related to the superconvergence of the Paleo-Asian, Tethyan and Paleo-Pacific tectonic domains. The Triassic Indosinian Movement contributed to an unified passive continental margin in East Asia. The later ophiolites and I-type granites associated with subduction of the Paleo-Pacific Plate in the Late Triassic, suggest a transition from passive to active continental margins. With the presence of the ongoing westward migration of the Paleo-Pacific Subduction Zone, the sinistral transpressional stress field could play an important role in the intraplate deformation in East Asia during the Late Triassic to Middle Jurassic, being characterized by the transition from the E-W-trending structural system controlled by the Tethys and Paleo-Asian oceans to the NE-trending structural system caused by the Paleo-Pacific Ocean subduction. The continuously westward migration of the subduction zones resulted in the transpressional stress field in East Asia marked by the emergence of the Eastern North China Plateau and the formation of the Andean-type active continental margin from late Late Jurassic to Early Cretaceous(160-135 Ma), accompanied by the development of a small amount of adakites. In the Late Cretaceous(135-90 Ma), due to the eastward retreat of the Paleo-Pacific Subduction Zone, the regional stress field was replaced from sinistral transpression to transtension. Since a large amount of late-stage adakites and metamorphic core complexes developed, the Andean-type active continental margin was destroyed and the Eastern North China Plateau started to collapse. In the Late Cretaceous, the extension in East Asia gradually decreased the eastward retreat of the Paleo-Pacific subduction zones. Futhermore, a significant topographic inversion had taken place during the Cenozoic that resulted from a rapid uplift of the Tibet Plateau resulting from the India-Eurasian collision and the formation of the Bohai Bay Basin and other basins in the East Asian continental margin. The inversion caused a remarkable eastward migration of deformation, basin formation and magmatism. Meanwhile, the basins that mainly developed in the Paleogene resulted in a three-step topography which typically appears to drop eastward in altitude. In the Neogene, the basins underwent a rapid subsidence in some depressions after basin-controlled faulting, as well as the intracontinental extensional events in East Asia, and are likely to be a contribution to the uplift of the Tibetan Plateau.DMITRIENKO Liudmila V. 2miR-211 regulates the antioxidant function of lens epithelial cells affected by age-related cataracts显示文摘AIM: To investigate the effects and mechanism of miR-211 in mediating the antioxidant function of lens epithelial cells affected by age-related cataracts.METHODS: Real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction(RT-q PCR) was used to detect miR-211 expression in the anterior lens capsules of healthy people, the anterior lens capsules of patients with age-related cataracts, and human epithelial cell line(SRA01/04) cells exposed to oxidative stress. A 2', 7'-dichloro-fluorescein diacetate(DCFH-DA) probe was used to measure the levels of endogenous reactive oxygen species(ROS) in human lens epithelial cells(h LECs) exposed to 400 μmol/L H_2O_2 for 1 h. SRA01/04 cells were transfected with either miR-211 mimics, mimic controls, miR-211 inhibitors or inhibitor controls. After 72 h, these cells were exposed to 400 μmol/L H_2O_2 for 1 h, then p53 and Bax m RNA expression were measured using RT-q PCR. p53 and Bax protein expression were also measured by Western blotting analysis. Finally, cell viability was assessed using an MTS assay.RESULTS: Compared to the control group, expression of miR-211 in the anterior lens capsules of age-related cataract patients and in SRA01/04 cells exposed to oxidative stress was significantly increased(P<0.001). Levels of endogenous ROS were significantly elevated in h LECs exposed to oxidative stress(P<0.001). Compared to the mimic control group, the h LECs in the miR-211 mimic group expressed significantly higher levels of p53 and Bax m RNA and protein while cell viability was significantly reduced(P<0.001). Conversely, p53 and Bax m RNA and protein expression were significantly reduced in the miR-211 inhibitor group as compared to the control group, while the cells in this group had much higher levels of cell viability(P<0.001).CONCLUSION: miR-211 is upregulated in the anterior lens capsules of age-related cataract patients. miR-211 decreased the antioxidative stress capacity of lens epithelial cells by upregulating p53 and Bax, while inhibiting cell proliferation and repair. This finding suggests that miR-211 may play a key role in the development of age-related cataracts.Bo Lu Ian T. 4Operational optimization of a building-level integrated energy system considering additional potential benefits of energy storage显示文摘As a key component of an integrated energy system(IES),energy storage can effectively alleviate the problem of the times between energy production and consumption.Exploiting the benefits of energy storage can improve the competitiveness of multi-energy systems.This paper proposes a method for day-ahead operation optimization of a building-level integrated energy system(BIES)considering additional potential benefits of energy storage.Based on the characteristics of peak-shaving and valley-filling of energy storage,and further consideration of the changes in the system’s load and real-time electricity price,a model of additional potential benefits of energy storage is developed.Aiming at the lowest total operating cost,a bi-level optimal operational model for day-ahead operation of BIES is developed.A case analysis of different dispatch strategies verifies that the addition of the proposed battery scheduling strategy improves economic operation.The results demonstrate that the model can exploit energy storage’s potential,further optimize the power output of BIES and reduce the economic cost.Sai Liu Cheng Zhou Haomin Guo Qingxin Shi Tiancheng E.Song Ian Schomer Yu Liu 2021Protection and Control of Modern Power Systems2021,6,1:3

8Biodegradable magnesium alloys for orthopaedic applications显示文摘There is increasing interest in the development of bone repair materials for biomedical applications.Magnesium(Mg)-based alloys have a natural ability to biodegrade because they corrode in aqueous media;they are thus promising materials for orthopaedic device applications in that the need for a secondary surgical operation to remove the implant can be eliminated.Notably,Mg has superior biocompatibility because Mg is found in the human body in abundance.Moreover,Mg alloys have a low elastic modulus,close to that of natural bone,which limits stress shielding.However,there are still some challenges for Mg-based fracture fixation.The degradation of Mg alloys in biological fluids can be too rapid,resulting in a loss of mechanical integrity before complete healing of the bone fracture.In order to achieve an appropriate combination of bio-corrosion and mechanical performance,the microstructure needs to be tailored properly by appropriate alloy design,as well as the use of strengthening processes and manufacturing techniques.This review covers the evolution,current strategies and future perspectives of Mg-based orthopaedic implants.Yu Lu Subodh Deshmukh Ian Jones Yu-Lung Chiu 2021Biomaterials Translational2021,2,3:2
