Tailoring the optical and magnetic properties of La-BaM hexaferrites by Ni substitution显示文摘We investigate the impact of Ni insertion on the structural, optical, and magnetic properties of Ba_(0.8)La_(0.2)Fe_(12-x)Ni_(x)O_(19)hexaferrites(Ni substituted La-BaM hexaferrites).Samples were prepared using the conventional co-precipitation method and sintered at 1000℃for 4 hours to assist the crystallization process. An analysis of the structure of the samples was carried out using an x-ray diffraction(XRD)spectrometer. The M-type hexagonal structure of all the samples was confirmed using XRD spectra. The lattice parameters a and c were found to be in the ranges of 5.8925±0.001 nm–5.8952±0.001 nm and 23.2123±0.001 nm–23.2219±0.001 nm,respectively. The M-type hexagonal nature of the prepared samples was also indicated by the presence of corresponding FT-IR bands and Raman modes in the FT-IR and Raman spectra, respectively.EDX results confirmed the successful synthesis of the samples according to the required stoichiometric ratio.A UV-vis spectrometer was used to record the absorption spectra of the prepared samples in the wavelength range of 200 nm–1100 nm.The optical energy bandgap of the samples was found to be in the range of 1.21 eV–3.39 eV.The M–H loops of the samples were measured at room temperature at an applied magnetic field range of 0 kOe–60 kOe.A high saturation magnetization of 99.92 emu/g was recorded in the sample with x=0 at a microwave operating frequency of 22.2 GHz.This high value of saturation magnetization is due to the substitution of La3+ions at the spin-up(12k,2a,and 2b)sites.The Ni substitution is proven to be a potential candidate for the tuning of the optical and magnetic parameters of M-type hexaferrites. Therefore,we suggest that the prepared samples are suitable for use in magneto-optic applications. | Hafiz T.Ali MRamzan M Imran Arshad Nicola A.Morley M.Hassan Abbas Mohammad Yusuf Atta Ur Rehman Khalid Mahmood Adnan Ali Nasir Amin MAjaz-un-Nabi | 2022 | Chinese Physics B2022,31,2: | 1
Anomaly Based Camera Prioritization in Large Scale Surveillance Networks显示文摘Digital surveillance systems are ubiquitous and continuously generate massive amounts of data, and manual monitoring is required in order to recognise human activities in public areas.Intelligent surveillance systems that can automatically identify normal and abnormal activities are highly desirable,as these would allow for efficient monitoring by selecting only those camera feeds in which abnormal activities are occurring. This paper proposes an energy-efficient camera prioritisation framework that intelligently adjusts the priority of cameras in a vast surveillance network using feedback from the activity recognition system. The proposed system addresses the limitations of existing manual monitoring surveillance systems using a three-step framework. In the first step, the salient frames are selected from the online video stream using a frame differencing method.A lightweight 3D convolutional neural network(3DCNN)architecture is applied to extract spatio-temporal features from the salient frames in the second step. Finally, the probabilities predicted by the 3DCNN network and the metadata of the cameras are processed using a linear threshold gate sigmoid mechanism to control the priority of the camera. The proposed system performs well compared to state-of-theart violent activity recognition methods in terms of efficient camera prioritisation in large-scale surveillance networks.Comprehensive experiments and an evaluation of activity recognition and camera prioritisation showed that our approach achieved an accuracy of 98%with an F1-score of 0.97 on the Hockey Fight dataset, and an accuracy of 99%with an F1-score of 0.98 on the Violent Crowd dataset. | Altaf Hussain Khan Muhammad Hayat Ullah Amin Ullah Ali Shariq Imran Mi Young Lee Seungmin Rho Muhammad Sajjad | 2022 | Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,2: | 1

A Robust Resource Allocation Scheme for Device-to-Device Communications Based on Q-Learning显示文摘One of the most effective technology for the 5G mobile communications is Device-to-device(D2D)communication which is also called terminal pass-through technology. It can directly communicate between devices under the control of a base station and does not require a base station to forward it.The advantages of applying D2D communication technology to cellular networks are:It can increase the communication system capacity, improve the system spectrum efficiency, increase the data transmission rate, and reduce the base station load.Aiming at the problem of co-channel interference between the D2D and cellular users, this paper proposes an efficient algorithm for resource allocation based on the idea of Q-learning,which creates multi-agent learners from multiple D2D users, and the system throughput is determined from the corresponding state-learning of the Q value list and the maximum Q action is obtained through dynamic power for control for D2D users. The mutual interference between the D2D users and base stations and exact channel state information is not required during the Q-learning process and symmetric data transmission mechanism is adopted. The proposed algorithm maximizes the system throughput by controlling the power of D2D users while guaranteeing the quality-of-service of the cellular users.Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm effectively improves system performance as compared with existing algorithms. | Azka Amin Xihua Liu Imran Khan Peerapong Uthansakul Masoud Forsat Seyed Sajad Mirjavadi | 2020 | Computers, Materials & Continua2020,,11: | 0
Inhibitive efficacy of Nymphoides indica rhizome extract onα-glucosidase, and cross-link formation of advanced glycation end products显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the inhibitive efficacy of Nymphoides Indica(L.) Kuntze rhizome extract onα-glucosidase and on cross-link formation of advanced glycation end products(AGEs).METHODS: The plant extracts were prepared by cold maceration and fractionated in solvents of diverse polarity. The in vitro α-glucosidase inhibition assay, fluorescence spectrometry and SDS-PAGE analysis was performed for antiglycation assays.RESULTS: During α-glucosidase inhibition assay significant inhibition by chloroform(0.43 mg/mL)and methanol fractions(0.66 mg/mL) was noticed.During the AGEs inhibition assay, both oxidative(BSA-MGO) and non-oxidative(BSA-glucose)modes were employed. The inhibition of AGEs by total extract was considered moderate(IC_(50)0.10 mg/mL) as a result of non-oxidative mode, whereas in case of oxidative mode(BASA-MGO) no activity was recorded. Among fractions the methanolic fraction presented significant results both in oxidative(IC_(50)0.01 mg/mL) and non-oxidative modes(IC_(50) 0.3 mg/mL). Likewise the ethyl acetate fraction was more active in non-oxidative mode(IC_(50)0.04 mg/mL) compared to oxidative mode(IC_(50)0.32 mg/mL).During assay for inhibition of cross-link formation, the chloroform fraction significantly inhibited cross-link formation in a dose dependent mode.CONCLUSION: It was finally concluded that N. Indica rhizome extract possesses significant properties that inhibit α-glucosidase, and AGEs cross-link formation. | Muhammad Hanif Muzammil Ahmad Khan Muhammad Ramzan Abdul Rafey Ali Zaman Imran Aziz Ama'null'ah Adnan Amin | 2021 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2021,41,3: | 0
Tuning structural, electrical, dielectric and magnetic properties of Mg-Cu-Co ferrites via dysprosium(Dy^(3+))doping显示文摘In current research work,Dy3+substituted Mg0.5Cu0.25Co0.25Fe2-xDyxO4(0.0≤x≤0.04 with the step interval of 0.01)soft ferrites were synthesized by the sol-gel auto combustion method. The prepared samples were characterized by the techniques using X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDS),Fourier transform infrared(FTIR)spectroscopy, curre nt-voltage(Ⅰ-Ⅴ)measurement,LCR meter, vibrating sample magnetometer(VSM)and Raman.XRD data reveal that the average crystallite size is 49.71 nm and the lattice constant is 0.83703 nm for sample x=0.03.The non-uniform grain growth was demonstrated by micrographs and impurity-free elemental composition was observed from EDX analysis. The DC resistivity has an increasing and decreasing trend in ferromagnetic and paramagnetic regions with an increase in temperature. Moreover, the high resistivity is observed with the order of 1010Ω·cm,and the activation energy is 0.944 eV for samples x=0.03.The dielectric parameters including dielectric constant, dielectric losses, and impedance gradually decrease with the increase in frequency from 8 Hz to 8 MHz.The minimum dielectric loss at high frequency is found for sample x=0.03.The coercivity(Hc)and saturation magnetization(Ms)are found in the ranges of 520.82-544.02 Oe and 20.5841-21.1473 emu/g,respectively.These observations confirm that dysprosium(x=0.03)doped MCC-soft ferrites may be applicable in transformer cores, microwave absorbance, and telecommunication devices. | Maria Akhtar M.S.Hasan Nasir Amin N.A.Morley Muhammad Imran Arshad | 2024 | Journal of Rare Earths2024,42,1: | 0
Effects of Inoculum Density on Plant Growth and Hydrocarbon Degradation显示文摘The combined use of plants and bacteria is a promising approach for the remediation of soil contaminated with organic pollutants.Different biotic and abiotic factors can affect the survival and activity of the applied bacteria and consequently plant growth and phytoremediation efficiency. The effect of inoculum density on the abundance and expression of alkane-degrading genes in the rhizosphere of plant vegetated in hydrocarbon-contaminated soil has been rarely observed. In this study, an alkane-degrading bacterium(Pantoea sp. strain BTRH79), at different inoculum densities(10~5 to 10~8 cells cm^(-3) soil), was inoculated to ryegrass(Lolium perenne) vegetated in diesel-contaminated soil to find the optimum inoculum density needed for its efficient colonization and hydrocarbon degradation activity. Bacterial inoculation improved plant growth and hydrocarbon degradation. Maximum plant growth and hydrocarbon degradation were observed with the inoculum having the highest cell density(10~8 cells cm^(-3) soil). Moreover, the inoculum with higher cell density exhibited more abundance and expression of alkane hydroxylase gene, CYP153. This study suggests that the inoculum density is one of the main factors that can affect bacterial colonization and activity during phytoremediation. | Ghulam SHABIR Muhammad ARSLAN Kaneez FATIMA Imran AMIN Qaiser Mahmood KHAN Muhammad AFZAL | 2016 | Pedosphere2016,26,5: | 0
Analysis and Assessment of Wind Energy Potential of Socotra Archipelago in Yemen显示文摘The increasing use of fossil fuels has a significant impact on the environment and ecosystem, which increases the rate of pollution.Given the high potential of renewable energy sources inYemen and the absence of similar studies in the region, this study aims to examine the potential of wind energy in Socotra Island. This was done by analyzing and evaluating wind properties, determining available energy density, calculating wind energy extracted at different altitudes, and then computing the capacity factor for a number of wind turbines and determining the best. The average wind speed in Socotra Island was obtained from the Civil Aviation and Meteorology Authority data, only for the five-year data currently available. The results showed high wind speeds from June to September(9.85-14.88 m/s)while the wind speed decreased for the rest of the year. The average wind speed in the five years was 7.95 m/s.The average annual wind speed, wind energy density, and annual energy density were calculated at different altitudes(10,30,and 50 m).According to the International Wind Energy Rating criteria, the region of Socotra Island falls under Category 7 and is classified as‘Superb’for most of the year. This study provides useful information for developing wind energy and an efficient wind approach. | Murad A.Almekhlafi Fahd N.Al-Wesabi Imran Khan Nadhem Nemri Khalid Mahmood Hany Mahgoub Noha Negm Amin M.El-Kustaban Ammar Zahary | 2022 | Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,1: | 0
Negotiation Based Combinatorial Double Auction Mechanism in Cloud Computing显示文摘Cloud computing is a demanding business platform for services related to the field of IT.The goal of cloud customers is to access resources at a sustainable price, while the goal of cloud suppliers is to maximize their services utilization.Previously, the customers would bid for every single resource type, which was a limitation of cloud resources allocation. To solve these issues, researchers have focused on a combinatorial auction in which the resources are offered by the providers in bundles so that the user bids for their required bundle.Still,in this allocation mechanism, some drawbacks need to be tackled, such as due to the lower average bid price the users are dropped from the auction process. To solve this problem,we proposed a“Negotiation based Combinatorial Double Auction Mechanism for Resource Allocation(N-CDARA)in cloud computing”.The proposed method negotiates with dropped users.Lower average bid price users are asked by our proposed mechanism to increase their bids,as by the quoted bids they will be dropped by the auctioneer. Most of the users that are close to winning accept the proposal and increase their bid prices. The proposed mechanism is implemented in a CloudSim simulation toolkit. Results are compared with the latest model and performance study shows that in our proposed scheme more users win and get their requested services and the utilization of offered services is increased up to 18.4%than the existing schemes. | Zakir Ullah Asif Umer Mahdi Zaree Jamil Ahmad Faisal Alanazi Noor Ul Amin Arif Iqbal Umar Ali Imran Jehangiri Muhammad Adnan | 2021 | Computers, Materials & Continua2021,,11: | 0
Error assessment of laser cutting predictions by semi-supervised learning显示文摘Experimentation data of perspex glass sheet cutting, using CO2 laser, with missing values were modelled with semi-supervised artificial neural networks. Factorial design of experiment was selected for the verification of orthogonal array based model prediction. It shows improvement in modelling of edge quality and kerf width by applying semi-supervised learning algorithm, based on novel error assessment on simulations. The results are expected to depict better prediction on average by utilizing the systematic randomized techniques to initialize the neural network weights and increase the number of initialization. Missing values handling is difficult with statistical tools and supervised learning techniques; on the other hand, semi-supervised learning generates better results with the smallest datasets even with missing values. | Mustafa Zaidi Imran Amin Ahmad Hussain Nukman Yusoff | 2014 | Journal of Central South University2014,21,10: | 0
