| 1 | Whole-genome sequencing provides insights into the genetic diversity and domestication of bitter gourd(Momordica spp.)显示文摘Bitter gourd(Momordica charantia)is a popular cultivated vegetable in Asian and African countries.To reveal the characteristics of the genomic structure,evolutionary trajectory,and genetic basis underlying the domestication of bitter gourd,we performed whole-genome sequencing of the cultivar Dali-11 and the wild small-fruited line TR and resequencing of 187 bitter gourd germplasms from 16 countries.The major gene clusters(Bi clusters)for the biosynthesis of cucurbitane triterpenoids,which confer a bitter taste,are highly conserved in cucumber,melon,and watermelon.Comparative analysis among cucurbit genomes revealed that the Bi cluster involved in cucurbitane triterpenoid biosynthesis is absent in bitter gourd.Phylogenetic analysis revealed that the TR group,including 21 bitter gourd germplasms,may belong to a new species or subspecies independent from M.charantia.Furthermore,we found that the remaining 166 M.charantia germplasms are geographically differentiated,and we identified 710,412,and 290 candidate domestication genes in the South Asia,Southeast Asia,and China populations,respectively.This study provides new insights into bitter gourd genetic diversity and domestication and will facilitate the future genomics-enabled improvement of bitter gourd. | Junjie Cui Yan Yang Shaobo Luo Le Wang Rukui Huang Qingfang Wen Xiaoxia Han Nansheng Miao Jiaowen Cheng Ziji Liu Changyuan Zhang Chengcheng Feng Haisheng Zhu Jianwen Su Xinjian Wan Fang Hu Yu Niu Xiaoming Zheng Yulan Yang Dai Shan Zhensheng Dong Weiming He Narinder P.S.Dhillon Kailin Hu | 2020 | Horticulture Research2020,7,1: | 7 |
| 2 | Safety and efficacy of Yupingfeng granules in children with recurrent respiratory tract infection:A randomized clinical trial显示文摘Importance:Recurrent respiratory tract infection(RRTI)is common in children.Inappropriate RRTI treatment will lead to asthma and other diseases,thereby seriously affecting the growth and physical health of children.Immune function modulation can prevent and alleviate childhood RRTI.Yupingfeng(YPF),a patented traditional Chinese medicine(TCM),has immunomodulatory effects and is widely used in China to treat children with RRTI.Objective:To evaluate the safety and efficacy of YPF monotherapy in treating children with RRTI.Methods:This multicenter,randomized,double-blind,double-simulation,noninferiority clinical trial was conducted from January 2015 to August 2017,with an 8-week treatment period and 52-week follow-up after the drug withdrawal.Children aged 2–6 years with RRTI meeting the inclusion and exclusion criteria were enrolled in 13 hospitals in China and divided randomly into three groups(2:2:1 ratio)to receive YPF,pidotimod,or placebo.The primary outcome was the proportion of RRTI returning to normal standard level during the follow-up.The secondary outcomes were reduction in the number of RRTI recurrences,effect on clinical symptoms(in accord with TCM practice),effect per symptom,and safety.The trial was registered at the Chinese Clinical Trials Registry(www.chictr.org.cn)under the unique identifier ChiCTR-IPR-15006847.Results:Three hundred and fifty-one children were enrolled and randomly assigned to 3 groups;124,125,and 61 children in the YPF,pidotimod,and placebo groups,respectively,had completed the trial.During the follow-up,the proportion of RRTI returning to normal standard level was 73.13%,67.15%,and 38.81%with YPF,pidotimod,and placebo,respectively(P<0.0001).The proportion of cases who returned to normal standard level in the YPF group was 34.32%higher than that in the placebo group.The safety profile did not significantly differ among the groups.Interpretation:YPF granules were noninferior to the active control drug pidotimod oral solution for the treatment of RRTI in children,and were superior to placebo,with a high safety profile. | Baoping Xu Xinmin Li Siyuan Hu Yixiao Bao Fengmei Chen Zhimin Chen Yonggang Du Enmei Liu Yufeng Liu Qinghui Mou Baoling Su Bo Wang Jianwen Xu Guiping Xu Qiaozhi Yang Liwei Gao Xiaohui Liu Lei Li Rong Ma Kunling Shen | 2022 | Pediatric Investigation2022,6,2: | 3 |

| 12 | Preparation of MCM-41 in Industrial Scale and Its Application in Heavy Oil Processing显示文摘A series of MCM 41 molecular sieves have been prepared on an industrial scale, and the effect of preparation factors such as aging temperature, pH values on the structure and pore distribution of the MCM 41 product have been studied by using X ray diffraction(XRD), thermogravimetric(TG) and electron microscopy(TEM). It is shown that the pH values have a significant effect on the crystallinity of the synthesized product. Under proper conditions, the MCM 41 prepared on an industrial scale has the same performance as the samples prepared on an Lab scale. The prepared MCM 41 was used as a modifier of zeolite Y for fluid catalytic cracking(FCC) of residual oil. It is shown that the addition of the MCM 41 in the zeolite Y catalyst increases the pore size, and surface area of the catalysts, which helps to increase the yield of gasoline and diesel and decrease the production of gaseous product and carbon deposition in the catalyst. | 13 | Ultracompact topological photonic switch based on valley-vortex-enhanced high-efficiency phases shift显示文摘Topologically protected edge states based on valley photonic crystals(VPCs)have been widely studied,from theoretical verifcation to technical applications.However,research on integrated tuneable topological devices is still lacking.Here,we study the phase-shifting theory of topological edge modes based on a VPC structure.Benefiting from the phase vortex formed by the VPC structure,the optical path of the topological edge mode in the propagation direction is approximately two-fold that of the conventional optical mode in a strip waveguide.In experiments,we show a 1.57-fold improvement inπ-phase tuning efficiency.By leveraging the highefficiency phase-shifting properties and the sharp-turn features of the topological waveguide,we demonstrate an ultracompact 1×2 thermo-optic topological switch(TOTS)operating at telecommunication wavelengths.A switching power of 18.2 mW is needed with an ultracompact device footprint of 25.66×28.3μm in the wavelength range of 1530-1582 nm.To the best of our knowledge,this topological photonic switch is the smallest switch of any dielectric or semiconductor 1×2/2×2 broadband optical switches,including thermo-optic and electro-optic switches.In addition,a high-speed transmission experiment employing the proposed TOTS is carried out to demonstrate the robust transmission of high-speed data.Our work reveals the phase shifting mechanism of valley edge modes,which may enable diverse topological functional devices in many fields,such as optical communications,nanophotonics,and quantum information processing. | Hongwei Wang Gujing Tang Yu He Zhen Wang Xingfeng Li Lu Sun Yong Zhang Luqi Yuan Jianwen Dong Yikai Su | 2022 | Light(Science & Applications)2022,11,11: | 1 |

| 17 | Karyotypes of nineteen species of Asteraceae in the Hengduan Mountains and adjacent regions显示文摘The Hengduan Mountains region is a biodiversity hotspot. In this study, we report the karyotypes of 19 species(21 populations) of Asteraceae from this region, 14 of which are reported for the first time. We also examined polyploidy in Asteraceae plants and summarized karyotype data in the literature for 69 congeneric taxa. In these genera, there were five different ploidy levels in the region, though the most dominant was diploid(73.08%). There is no direct evidence that ploidy level and karyotype asymmetry are associated with the distribution of recorded Asteraceae species from the Hengduan Mountains. | 19 | A Simple SSR-based Method for Purity Identification of Cucurbita moschata Hybrids显示文摘Aiming at solving the existing issues in purity identification of Cucurbita moschata hybrids by SSR,such as complex operation and difficult application in production practice,in this study,a simple SSR-based method was established for purity identification of Cucurbita moschata hybrids. By using the established simple method,without grinding,freezing,centrifugation and drying,the genomic DNA extraction process is shorter than 3 min. Compared with the conventional method,PCR detection system and silver staining in polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis of the established method are more time-saving and cost-saving. The whole detection process is shorter than 4 h,and 480 samples can be detected with this method by one person in one day. In addition,the detection result exhibits a coincidence rate of 99% with field identification. | 20 | Studies on the Compositional Properties of Main Miben Series Pumpkin Varieties in Southern China显示文摘Pumpkin is among the most popular agricultural products in Southern China. To determine the important analytical properties(dry matter, total soluble sugar,dissolvable polysaccharides, mineral content, electricity conductivity, soluble solid content, fruit weight, fat, protein, fiber, pectin, β-carotene and edible rate) of pumpkin in Southern China, this study investigated the physical and chemical properties and texture of raw and steamed pumpkins of 13 Miben series varieties. Miben pumpkins were frozen at-40 ℃ for 24 h, or at-4 ℃ for 24 h, or were steamed for 15 min in boiling water to investigate the effect of different treatments on the textural change, and to reveal the texture and sensory properties of the different varieties. A total of 13 pumpkin varieties of Miben series CP1578, CP2116, XM2-2,Baimi II, Guangmi I, Guangzhouluxia, Jintong, Laojinhanzaoshu, Quanguanjixiang,Newzuhe III, V pumpkin, Zaoshutianmi and Daguomiben were involved in this study.The results showed that the Miben series pumpkins had significant difference in physical properties. The editable rate of Miben series pumpkins was higher than77%. Chemical properties varied among different varieties. Textures of pumpkin flesh after different processes were different.
