1The age of the base of the Paleoproterozoic Hutuo Group in the Wutai Mountains area, North China Craton: SHRIMP zircon U-Pb dating of basaltic andesite显示文摘Basalt and basaltic andesite metamorphosed at greenschist facies occurs with conglomerate layers at the bottom of the Paleoproterozoic Hutuo Group in the Wutai Mountains area, North China Craton. Detailed geological surveying confirms that these volcanic rocks are conformable within the neighboring sedimentary rocks. The SHRIMP results on basaltic andesite are divided into two groups. In one group the 207Pb/206Pb ages are from 2433 to 2558 Ma, which is consistent with the basement crustal age in Fuping and Wutai areas. In the other group, 13 grains yielded a weighted mean 207Pb/206Pb age of 2140±14 Ma. The latter is interpreted as the eruption age of the basaltic andesite, and gives the age of the base of the Hutuo Group. 2Overexpression of the tonoplast aquaporin AtTIP5;1 conferred tolerance to boron toxicity in Arabidopsis显示文摘Boron (B) toxicity to plants is responsible for low crop productivity in many regions of the world. Here we report a novel and effective means to alleviate the B toxicity to plants under high B circumstance. Functional characterization of AtTIP5;1, an aquaporin gene, re-vealed that overexpression of AtTIP5;1 (OxAtTIP5;1) in Arabidopsis significantly increased its tolerance to high B toxicity. Compared to wild-type plants, OxAtTIP5;1 plants exhibited longer hypocotyls, accelerated development, increased silique production under high B treatments. GUS staining and quantitative RT-PCR (qRT-PCR) results demonstrated that the expression of AtTIP5;1 was induced by high B concentration treatment. Subcellular localization analysis revealed that the AtTIP5;1-GFP fusion protein was localized on the tonoplast membrane, which was consistent with the prediction based on bioinformatics. 3The RNA-binding protein Musashi2 governs osteoblast-adipocyte lineage commitment by suppressing PPARγsignaling显示文摘Osteoporosis caused by aging is characterized by reduced bone mass and accumulated adipocytes in the bone marrow cavity. How the balance between osteoblastogenesis and adipogenesis from bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(BMSCs) is lost upon aging is still unclear. Here, we found that the RNA-binding protein Musashi2(Msi2) regulates BMSC lineage commitment. Msi2 is commonly enriched in stem cells and tumor cells. We found that its expression was downregulated during adipogenic differentiation and upregulated during osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs. Msi2 knockout mice exhibited decreased bone mass with substantial accumulation of marrow adipocytes, similar to aging-induced osteoporosis. Depletion of Msi2 in BMSCs led to increased adipocyte commitment. Transcriptional profiling analysis revealed that Msi2 deficiency led to increased PPARγ signaling.RNA-interacting protein immunoprecipitation assays demonstrated that Msi2 could inhibit the translation of the key adipogenic factor Cebpα, thereby inhibiting PPAR signaling. Furthermore, the expression of Msi2 decreased significantly during the aging process of mice, indicating that decreased Msi2 function during aging contributes to abnormal accumulation of adipocytes in bone marrow and osteoporosis. 4Combination of hydrophobically modified γ-poly(glutamic acid)and trehalose achieving high cryosurvival of RBCs显示文摘Trehalose is expected to be an alternative for toxic glycerol as a biocompatible cryoprotectant of red blood cells(RBCs).In this work,γ-poly(glutamic acid)(PGA)is modified by grafting hydrophobic phenethylamine,3,4-dimethoxyphenylethylamine and dodecylamine,respectively.The graft-modified PGA can significantly enhance cryosurvival of RBCs in combination with trehalose.Analyses of dynamic light scattering,hemolysis assay,atomic force microscope and confocal laser scanning microscope suggest that the modified PGA polymers can self-assemble into nanoparticles in phosphate buffer saline solutions at the pH range of 6.0–7.4,and exhibit membrane-disruptive activity due to hydrogen bond,conjugation and hydrophobic interactions with cell membranes.It is assumed that the modified PGA polymers can improve the cryosurvival of RBCs by promoting membrane permeability of trehalose.Among the three graft-modified polymers,phenethylamine-grafted PGA(PGA-g-PEA)can significantly increase the intracellular trehalose-loading content to 11.3±2.4 m M at pH 7.4,much higher than the value0.17±0.66 m M when trehalose is used without any polymers.In view of the aforementioned merit,the cryosurvival rate of sheep RBCs is increased to about 90%by incubation with 1.0 mg mL-1 PGA-g-PEA and 0.36 M trehalose.In vitro cell culture of L929 fibroblasts demonstrates low cytotoxicity of PGA-g-PEA.Therefore,hydrophobic PEA-modified PGA with enhanced intracellular trehalose-loading ability can be potentially applied in glycerol-free RBC cryopreservation or other related biomacromolecule delivery systems.ZHANG QiFa LIU Bo CHONG JingHui REN LiXia ZHAO YunHui YUAN XiaoYan 2021Science China(Technological Sciences)2021,64,4:4

6Porous Co_(2)VO_(4) Nanodisk as a High-Energy and Fast-Charging Anode for Lithium-Ion Batteries显示文摘High-energy–density lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)that can be safely fast-charged are desirable for electric vehicles.However,sub-optimal lithiation potential and low capacity of commonly used LIBs anode cause safety issues and low energy density.Here we hypothesize that a cobalt vanadate oxide,Co_(2)VO_(4),can be attractive anode material for fast-charging LIBs due to its high capacity(~1000 mAh g^(−1))and safe lithiation potential(~0.65 V vs.Li^(+)/Li).The Li+diffusion coefficient of Co2VO4 is evaluated by theoretical calculation to be as high as 3.15×10^(-10) cm^(2) s^(−1),proving Co_(2)VO_(4) a promising anode in fast-charging LIBs.A hexagonal porous Co2VO4 nanodisk(PCVO ND)structure is designed accordingly,featuring a high specific surface area of 74.57 m^(2) g^(−1) and numerous pores with a pore size of 14 nm.This unique structure succeeds in enhancing Li^(+) and electron transfer,leading to superior fast-charging performance than current commercial anodes.As a result,the PCVO ND shows a high initial reversible capacity of 911.0 mAh g^(−1) at 0.4 C,excellent fast-charging capacity(344.3 mAh g^(−1) at 10 C for 1000 cycles),outstanding long-term cycling stability(only 0.024% capacity loss per cycle at 10 C for 1000 cycles),confirming the commercial feasibility of PCVO ND in fast-charging LIBs.Jinghui Ren Zhenyu Wang Peng Xu Cong Wang Fei Gao Decheng Zhao Shupei Liu Han Yang Di Wang Chunming Niu Yusong Zhu Yutong Wu Xiang Liu Zhoulu Wang Yi Zhang 2022Nano-Micro Letters2022,14,1:1

8Method of Generating Strategic Guidance Information for Driving Evacuation Flows to Approach Safety-Based System Optimal Dynamic Flows: Case Study of a Large Stadium显示文摘In previous evacuation flow planning, a system optimal dynamic traffic assignment(SODTA) did not consider the exogenous costs caused by potential traffic accidents. A traffic accident,which might occur as a result of traffic congestion, will impact an evacuation process because of accidentrelated delays experienced by the downstream vehicles. This paper establishes a safety-based SO-DTA linear programming model in which the generalized system cost incorporates both the travel time and the accident-related delay. The goal is to minimize the generalized system cost under the cell transmission setup. Furthermore, the authors provide strategic guidance information that considers both the objective of the decision maker and the route choice behavior of the evacuees. Mathematically,the authors propose an unconstrained non-linear programming model aimed at minimizing the gap between the safety-based flows and the stochastic real-world evacuation flows, to provide strategic travel time information to be published on variable message signs(VMS). 16Higher-order vibration of thick composite and sandwich plates based on an alternative higher-order model显示文摘The transverse stretching vibration of thick sandwich plates,which is attributed to largely different stiffness at the adjacent layers,is a challenging issue,and efficient approach for such issue is less reported in the published literature.Thus,natural frequencies corresponding to stretching vibration modes are generally neglected in engineering design,which might impact structural safety as frequencies of the exciting force are close to transverse stretching vibration frequencies.This paper proposes an alternative higher-order model for dynamic analysis corresponding to the higher-order vibration modes.The proposed model is classified in the displacement-based equivalent single-layer theory,as the number of displacement parameters in the proposed model is independent of the layer number.The continuity of displacements and transverse shear stresses can be fulfilled at the interfaces between the adjacent layers of structures.To demonstrate the capability of the proposed model,typical examples are analyzed by utilizing the proposed model,the threedimensional finite element method and the chosen higher-order models.By comparing with the exact three-dimensional elasticity solutions,it is found that the proposed model can yield more accurate natural frequencies corresponding to the higher-order displacement modes than the selected models.Moreover,the factors influencing reasonable prediction of the higher-order frequencies are investigated in detail,which can provide a reference for the accurate prediction of the higher-order frequencies.Jinghui DENG Tangzhen WU Zhen WU Zhengliang LIU Xiaohui REN 2023Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2023,36,3:0
17Estimating Strength of Finger-jointed Dimension Lumber by Nondestructive Methods显示文摘Structural finger-jointed (FJ) lumber was used mainly in structural applications including glue-laminated beams and wooden I-joists and more recently in parallel chord wood trusses. The paper evaluated strength properties of structural FJ lumber by three nondestructive methods (edge-wise bending, longitudinal and transversal vibration) in order to find an alternative to traditional evaluation methods. Lumber was sawn from the logs following a pattern typically used in China to maximize the volume of recovered sawn timbers. After kiln-dried, these rough-sawed lumbers were planned to 4.5 cm thick, 9.0 cm wide and 100cm long. The lumber pieces were assigned to two groups (low-grade and high- grade groups) according to their dynamical modulus of elasticity. FJ lumber was produced by cutting a series of sloping fingers (finger length 20, 25 and 35 mm) on the end of the wood pieces to be joined and interlocking the two pieces. Each finger-jointed lumber with one same finger length had three types: L-L, L-H and H-H. The FJ lumber was nondestructively tested using edge-wise bending, longitudinal and transversal vibration methods. After three methods, tensile and bending strengths of FJ lumber were tested to build dynamical relationships between MOE and strengths. 18Identification of a common brain network associated with lesional epilepsy显示文摘Stroke is the leading cause of neurological diseases globally.Remarkably,epilepsy is a common complication of stroke,which greatly impairs the quality of life of patients and poses a significant clinical challenge.Therefore,a better understanding of the risk factors for poststroke epilepsy is crucial.A recent study published in JAMA Neurology studied the brain network associated with poststroke epilepsy in a group of 76 patients compared to a cohort of 625 control patients using lesion mapping techniques.The results showed that negative functional connectivity between lesion locations and regions in the basal ganglia and cerebellum confers a higher risk of developing epilepsy after stroke.The lesion network nodes associated with epilepsy were identical across different lesion types including hematomas,traumas,tumors,and tubers.Furthermore,the poststroke epilepsy brain network has potential therapeutic relevance to deep brain stimulation(DBS).In a cohort of 30 patients,the functional connectivity between anterior thalamic DBS sites and the lesion network nodes was found to correlate with seizure control after DBS.In summary,the finding provides a novel method for predicting the risk of poststroke epilepsy in patients and may guide brain stimulation treatments for epilepsy.Di Wu Jinghui Liu Liankun Ren 2023Acta Epileptologica2023,6,4:0
