| 2 | Effects of tourmaline on nitrogen removal performance and biofilm structures in the sequencing batch biofilm reactor显示文摘The effects of tourmaline on nitrogen removal performance and biofilm structures were comparatively investigated in two identical laboratory-scale sequencing batch biofilm reactors(SBBRs)(denoted SBBR1 and SBBR2) at different nitrogen loading rates(NLRs) varying from(0.24 ± 0.01) to(1.26 ± 0.02) g N/(L·day). SBBR1 was operated in parallel with SBBR2, but SBBR1 was filled with polyurethane foam loaded tourmaline(TPU) carriers and another(SBBR2) filled with polyurethane foam(PU) carriers. Results obtained from this study showed that the excellent and stable performance of SBBR1 was obtained. Ammonia nitrogen removal and total nitrogen removal were higher in SBBR1 than that in SBBR2 with increase of NLR. At an NLR of(0.24 ± 0.01) g N/(L·day), the majority of the spherical and elliptical bacteria were surrounded by the extracellular polymeric substance(EPS) and bacillus or filamentous bacteria in two SBBRs biofilms. When NLR increased to(1.26 ± 0.02) g N/(L·day), the clusters were more obvious in the SBBR1 biofilm than that in the SBBR2 biofilm. Bacteria in SBBR1 were inclined to synthesis more EPS, and the formed EPS could protect the bacteria from free ammonia(FA) under extreme condition NLR(1.26 ± 0.02) g N/(L·day). | 3 | Antihyperuricemic effect of mangiferin aglycon derivative J99745 by inhibiting xanthine oxidase activity and urate transporter 1 expression in mice显示文摘A mangiferin aglycon derivative J99745 has been identified as a potent xanthine oxidase(XOD) inhibitor by previous in vitro study. This study aimed to evaluate the hypouricemic effects of J99745 in experimental hyperuricemia mice, and explore the underlying mechanisms. Mice were orally administered 600 mg/kg xanthine once daily for 7 days and intraperitoneally injected 250 mg/kg oxonic acid on the 7 th day to induce hyperuricemia. Meanwhile, J99745(3, 10, and 30 mg/kg), allopurinol(20 mg/kg) or benzbromarone(20 mg/kg) were orally administered to mice for 7 days. On the 7 th day,uric acid and creatinine in serum and urine, blood urea nitrogen(BUN), malondialdehyde(MDA) content and XOD activities in serum and liver were determined. Morphological changes in kidney were observed using hematoxylin and eosin(H&E) staining. Hepatic XOD, renal urate transporter 1(URAT1), glucose transporter type 9(GLUT9), organic anion transporter 1(OAT1) and ATP-binding cassette transporter G2(ABCG2) were detected by Western blot and real time polymerase chain reaction(PCR). The results showed that J99745 at doses of 10 and 30 mg/kg significantly reduced serum urate, and enhanced fractional excretion of uric acid(FEUA). H&E staining confirmed that J99745 provided greater nephroprotective effects than allopurinol and benzbromarone. Moreover, serum and hepatic XOD activities and renal URAT1 expression declined in J99745-treated hyperuricemia mice. In consistence with the ability to inhibit XOD, J99745 lowered serum MDA content in hyperuricemia mice. | 8 | Characteristics of the sea ice reflectance spectrum polluted by oil spills based on field experiments in the Bohai Sea显示文摘Oil spilled on the sea ice surface in the Bohai Sea of China is studied through the field measurements of the reflectance of a simulated sea ice-oil film mixed pixel. The reflection characteristics of sea ice and oil film are also analyzed. It is found that the mixed pixel of sea ice and oil film is a linear mixed pixel. The means of extracting sea ice pixels containing oil film is presented using a double-band ratio oil-film sea-ice index(DROSI) and a normalized difference oil-film sea-ice index(NDOSI) through the analysis of the reflectance curves of the sea iceoil film pixel for different ratios of oil film. The area proportion of the oil film in the sea ice-oil film pixel can be accurately estimated by the average reflectance of the band of 1 610–1 630 nm, and the volume of the spilled oil can be further estimated. | 9 | Thrombopoietin induced proliferation and differentiation of fetal liver CD34^+ cells with phenotype change from hemopoiesis to neurogenesis显示文摘BACKGROUND: Previous studies have reported a neurotrophin-like motif in the N-terminal receptor binding region of the thrombopoietin (TPO) molecule, and have described localization of TPO and TPO receptor in the brain. Therefore, it is believed that TPO may be involved in regulation of neurogenesis. OBJECTIVE: To validate the effect of TPO on trans-differentiation, or differentiation from hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) to neural stem cells (NSCs). DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: Comparative studies were performed from March 2004 to April 2007 at the Department of Experimental Medicine, Northern Hospital, and the Department of Immunology, Fourth Military Medical University of Chinese PLA. MATERIALS: Human fetal liver (FL) was obtained from fetuses after water-balloon abortion. Gestational age ranged from 16 to 20 weeks. The study was approved by the Institutional Review Board and Ethics Committee of the Northern Hospital. TPO was kindly provided by Genentech Inc (USA). Iscove's Modified Dulbecco's Medium (IMDM) and neurobasalTM medium were purchased from Invitrogen (USA). MACS CD34 multisort kit was purchased from Miltenyi Biotec (Germany). METHODS: CD34+ cells were isolated from human FL mononuclear cells using MACS CD34 multisort kit and cultured at 1 × 105/mL in IMDM, containing TPO for 60 days with weekly changes of half of the medium. After culturing for 30 and 60 days, the TPO-induced cells were resuspended in neurobasalTM medium containing 10% fetal brain extracts and plated in an 8-well BIOCOAT poly-D-Lysine Culture Slide and cul- tured for another 7 days. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Cell number, viability, phenotype and expression of hemopoiesis-related and neurogenesis-related proteins were examined by trypan blue exclusion with hemocytometer, immunoblot, immunocytochemistry and flow cytometry. RESULTS: After 60 days of induction with TPO, the cell number increased by 4.6-fold compared to the ini- tial culture. Although the proportion of the cells expressing the hemopoietic stem cell associated antigen (CD34) decreased steadily, both proportions of the cultured FL-derived CD34+ cells expressing CD41a and CD61 remained unchanged, which still accounted for 10%. Noticeably, the proportions of the cells express- ing nestin and epidermal growth factor receptor increased significantly (both > 50%), whereas the expression of more mature neural or glial proteins [microtubule-associated protein-2 (MAP2), glial fibrillary acidic pro- tein (GFAP), oligodendrocyte marker O4 (O4)] markers on the cultured fetal liver derived-CD34+ cells were at lower levels. After another 7 days incubation in neurobasal? medium, these TPO-induced cells formed neurospheres, which were labeled with nestin, and differentiated into cells with morphological characteristics of neurons, astrocytes and oligodendrocytes, which were labeled with MAP-2, GFAP, and O4, respectively. | 10 | Ecological Carrying Capacity Prediction of Huainan City Based on GM–BP Neural Network显示文摘Evaluation of ecological carrying capacity is an important method of analyzing regional sustainable development, study on ecological carrying capacity is to settle the contradictions between resource and environment, and it is a significant basis for realizing regional sustainable development. This paper, on the basis of the academician Sun Tiehang's 'unification of three' for the eco-city construction, established ecological carrying capacity evaluation indexes for the traditional industrial and mining city—Huainan City; and applied GM–BP neural network coupling model for the dynamic evolution and prediction of ecological carrying capacity of Huainan City in the future decade. The results showed that ecological carrying capacity index of Huainan would be 2.13 by 2025, higher than the loadable state 1, so the ecological carrying capacity would keep in the over-loaded level, but the over-loaded degree would be lower than the current. | 11 | Lonicera caerulea polyphenols inhibit fat absorption by regulating Nrf2-ARE pathway mediated epithelial barrier dysfunction and special microbiota显示文摘Scope:High-fat diet(HFD)induces imbalance in the small intestine environment,where fat digestion and absorption mainly take place.This study aimed to elucidate the mechanisms by which Lonicera caerulea polyphenols(LCP)might inhibit fat absorption,from the perspective of small intestine microbiota and epithelial barrier integrity.Methods and results:Male Sprague-Dawley rats were given HFD with or without co-administration of LCP for 8 weeks.The results showed that LCP supplementation significantly decreased the levels of serum triglycerides(TG),total cholesterol(TC),and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),and increased the contents of fecal sterols,in HFD rats.LCP also inhibited the dysfunction of the small intestine epithelial barrier,via alleviating the oxidative stress activated by Nrf2-ARE pathway,and by modulating the expressions of pro-inflammatory factors such as tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),interleukin-6(IL-6),cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2),nuclear factor kappa-B p65(NF-κB p65)and inducible nitric oxide synthase(iNOS)in the small intestine.Additionally,LCP administration restored the balance in small intestine microbiota and increased the abundance of the specific bacteria,such as Lactobacillus,involved in fat absorption.Conclusion:Our results demonstrated that LCP may be beneficial to inhibit fat absorption.The mechanism seems to be associated with the protection of the epithelial barrier integrity and the modulation of specific bacteria in the small intestine. | Yuehua Wang Ningxuan Gao Andrea Nieto-Veloza Lingxi Zhou Xiyun Sun Xu Si Jinlong Tian Yang Lin Xinyao Jiao Bin Li | 2023 | Food Science and Human Wellness2023,12,4: | 1 |

| 14 | Projected land use changes in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau at the carbon peak and carbon neutrality targets显示文摘Based on historical land use for eight periods from 1980 to 2020 and the projected land use under seven Shared Socioeconomic Pathways(SSPs:SSP1-1.9,SSP1-2.6,SSP2-4.5,SSP3-7.0,SSP4-3.4,SSP4-6.0,and SSP5-8.5)from 2021 to 2100,we conducted a study on past and future land use changes in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau(QTP).This work aims to reveal the land use changes during the carbon peak(2021-2040)and carbon neutrality(2051-2070)periods and at the end of the 21st century(2081-2100).The results show that:(1)in the historical period(1980-2020),the land use types in the QTP were grassland(1475×10^(3)km^(2),58.2%),barren land(685×10^(3)km^(2),27.0%),forest land(243×10^(3)km^(2),9.6%),water(114×10^(3)km^(2),4.5%),cropland(18.6×10^(3)km^(2),0.7%)and urban land(0.3×10^(3)km^(2),0.01%).(2)Relative to the baseline period(1995-2014),the area of grassland is projected to decrease by 0.7%(SSP4-6.0)-5.4%(SSP2-4.5)(0.5-3.9%of the total area of the QTP),2.8%(SSP4-6.0)-12.5%(SSP3-7.0)(2.1-9.4%of the total area of the QTP)and 6.1%(SSP4-6.0)-21.7%(SSP4-3.4)(4.6-16.4%of the total area of the QTP)in the future three periods.In contrast,the forest land area is projected to increase,by approximately 2.5%(SSP4-6.0)to 30.1%(SSP3-7.0)(0.3-4.3%of the total area of the QTP),9.2%(SSP4-6.0)to 56.5%(SSP2-4.5)(1.3-8.0%of the total area of the QTP),and 21.2%(SSP4-6.0)to 72.8%(SSP2-4.5)(3.0-10.2%of the total area of the QTP)in the future three periods,respectively.(3)Approximately 0.4(SSP4-6.0)to 6.9%(SSP5-8.5),0.9(SSP4-6.0)to 2.7%(SSP4-3.4),and 0.04(SSP5-8.5)to 3.5%(SSP1-1.9)of land is expected to convert from grassland to forest land in the future three periods,respectively.The shift from grassland to forest land area is likely to enhance the carbon sink potential of the QTP in the future period. | Runhong XU Peijun SHI Miaoni GAO Yanjun WANG Guojie WANG Buda SU Jinlong HUANG Qigen LIN Tong JIANG | 2023 | Science China Earth Sciences2023,66,6: | 0 |
| 15 | Elucidating the suppression of lithium dendrite growth with a void-reduced anti-perovskite solid-state electrolyte pellet for stable lithium metal anodes显示文摘Solid-state lithium-metal batteries,with their high theoretical energy density and safety,are highly promising as a next-generation battery contender.Among the alternatives proposed as solid-state electrolyte,lithium-rich anti-perovskite(Li RAP)materials have drawn the most interest because of high theoretical Li^(+)conductivity,low cost and easy processing.Although solid-state electrolytes are believed to have the potential to physically inhibit the lithium dendrite growth,lithium-metal batteries still suffer from the lithium dendrite growth and thereafter the short circuiting.The voids in practical Li RAP pellets are considered as the root cause.Herein,we show that reducing the voids can effectively suppress the lithium dendrite growth.The voids in the pellet resulted in an irregular Li^(+)flux distribution and a poor interfacial contact with lithium metal anode;and hence the ununiform lithium dendrites.Consequently,the lithium-metal symmetric cell with void-reduced Li_(2)OHCl-HT pellet was able to display excellent cycling performance(750 h at 0.4 m A cm^(-2))and stability at high current density(0.8 m A cm^(-2)for 120 h).This study provides not only experimental evidence for the impact of the voids in Li RAP pellets on the lithium dendrite growth,but also a rational pellet fabrication approach to suppress the lithium dendrite growth. | Yu YeXinyan Ye Haoxian Zhu Juncao Bian Haibin Lin Jinlong Zhu Yusheng Zhao | 2023 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2023,,2: | 0 |

| 17 | Wide-pH-range adaptable ammonia electrosynthesis from nitrate on Cu-Pd interfaces显示文摘Ammonia production via electrochemical nitrate reduction is essential for environmental protection and the emerging hydrogen economy. Complex nitrate wastewater with a wide pH range calls for flexible catalysts with high selectivity. A high Faradaic efficiency(FE) of NH3 cannot be obtained under strong acid or alkaline conditions due to the uncontrollable adsorption energy and coverage of hydrogen species(H*) on active sites. This article describes the design and fabrication of a copper-palladium(Cu-Pd) alloy nanocrystal catalyst that inhibits H2 and nitrite generation in electrolytes with different nitrate concentrations and varied pH. The interfacial sites of Cu-Pd alloys could enhance the adsorption energy and coverage of H* while increasing the reaction rate constant of NO_(2)*-to-NO*, which achieves a rapid conversion of NO_(2)* along with a decreased FE of NO_(2)-. Under ambient conditions, optimal FE(NH3) is close to 100% at a wide pH range, with the solar-to-chemical conversion efficiency approaching 4.29%. | 18 | AKG/OXGR1 promotes skeletal muscle blood flow and metabolism by relaxing vascular smooth muscle显示文摘In response to contraction during exercise,skeletal muscle growth and metabolism are dynamically regulated by nerve action,blood flow,and metabolic feedback.α-Ketoglutarate(AKG),a bioactive intermediate in the tricarboxylic acid cycle released during exercise,has been shown to promote skeletal muscle hypertrophy.However,the underlying mechanism of AKG in regulating skeletal muscle development and metabolism is still less known.2-Oxoglutarate receptor 1(OXGR1),the endogenous AKG receptor,is found to be distributed in the vascular smooth muscle(VSM)of skeletal muscles.OXGR1 knockout results in skeletal muscle atrophy,accompanied by decreased expression of myosin heavy chain I(MyHC I),capillary density,and endurance exercise capacity.Furthermore,the study found that dietary AKG supplementation increased mice endurance exercise distance,MyHC I/MyHC IIb ratio,arteriole,and capillary densities in skeletal muscle.Meanwhile,acute AKG administration gradually increased the blood flow in the lower limbs.Further,by using OXGR1 global knockout and OXGR1 VSM-specific(MYH11-Cre×OXGR1-FloxP)knockdown models,we found that OXGR1 in VSM is essential for AKG-induced improvement of skeletal muscle performances.According to the in vitro study,AKG expanded the cell area in VSM with a decreased intracellular pH by OXGR1.Our results demonstrated a novel role of AKG/OXGR1 in VSM of skeletal muscle to regulate blood flow and then enhance slow muscle fiber conversion and capillarization.These findings provide a theoretical basis for the AKG/OXGR1 signaling pathway to maintain human muscle function and improve meat production and livestock and poultry meat quality. | Jinping Yang Guli Xu Yiming Xu Pei Luo Yexian Yuan Lin Yao Jingjing Zhou Yunlong Zhu Ishwari Gyawali Chang Xu Jinlong Feng Zewei Ma Yuxian Zeng Songbo Wang Ping Gao Canjun Zhu Qingyan Jiang Gang Shu | 2022 | Life Metabolism2022,1,3: | 0 |

However, the maintenance of urban ecological security, scientificity, integrality and continuity of ecosystem, as well as scientificity of the defining methods and the effective supervision of the basic ecological control line have become bones of contention. This paper, from the perspective of 'anti-planning', synthesized the theories and methods such as urban-rural planning, ecology and GIS, coupled ecological sensitivity assessment and ecological security pattern to define the basic ecological control lines of the planning area in Anqing City. The basic ecological control line area includes ecological baseline area and ecological development area.
