11 Gbps free-space deep-ultraviolet communications based on Ⅲ-nitride micro-LEDs emitting at 262 nm显示文摘The low modulation bandwidth of deep-ultraviolet(UV) light sources is considered as the main reason limiting the data transmission rate of deep-UV communications. Here, we present high-bandwidth Ⅲ-nitride microlight-emitting diodes(μLEDs) emitting in the UV-C region and their applications in deep-UV communication systems. The fabricated UV-C μLEDs with 566 μm2 emission area produce an optical power of 196 μW at the 3400 A∕cm2 current density. The measured 3 dB modulation bandwidth of these μLEDs initially increases linearly with the driving current density and then saturates as 438 MHz at a current density of 71 A∕cm2, which is limited by the cutoff frequency of the commercial avalanche photodiode used for the measurement. A deep-UV communication system is further demonstrated. 3Selective electrochemical production of hydrogen peroxide at zigzag edges of exfoliated molybdenum telluride nanoflakes显示文摘The two-electron reduction of molecular oxygen represents an effective strategy to enable the green,mild and on-demand synthesis of hydrogen peroxide.Its practical viability,however,hinges on the development of advanced electrocatalysts,preferably composed of non-precious elements,to selectively expedite this reaction,particularly in acidic medium.Our study here introduces 2H-MoTe2 for the first time as the efficient non-precious-metal-based electrocatalyst for the electrochemical production ofhydrogen peroxide in acids.We show that exfoliated 2H-MoTe2 nanoflakes have high activity(onset overpotential〜140 mV and large mass activity of 27 A g^-1 at 0.4 V versus reversible hydrogen electrode),great selectivity(H2O2 percentage up to 93%)and decent stability in 0.5 M H2SO4.Theoretical simulations evidence that the high activity and selectivity of 2H-MoTe2 arise from the proper binding energies of HOO*and O*at its zigzag edges that jointly favor the two-electron reduction instead of the four-electron reduction of molecular oxygen.Xuan Zhao Yu Wang Yunli Da Xinxia Wang Tingting Wang Mingquan Xu Xiaoyun He Wu Zhou Yafei Li Jonathan NColeman Yanguang Li 2020National Science Review2020,7,8:3
4Strong partitioning of soil bacterial community composition and co-occurrence networks along a small-scale elevational gradient on Zijin Mountain显示文摘The elevational distributions of bacterial communities in natural mountain forests,especially along large elevational gradients,have been studied for many years.However,the distributional patterns that underlie variations in soil bacterial communities along small-scale elevational gradients in urban ecosystems are not yet well understood.Using Illumina MiSeq DNA sequencing,we surveyed soil bacterial communities at three elevations on Zijin Mountain in Nanjing City:the hilltop(300 m a.s.l.),the hillside(150 m a.s.l.),and the foot of the hill(0 m a.s.l.).The results showed that edaphic properties differed significantly with elevation.Bacterial community composition,rather than alpha diversity,strongly differed among the three elevations(Adonis:R2=0.12,P<0.01).Adonis and DistLM analyses demonstrated that bacterial community composition was highly correlated with soil pH,elevation,total nitrogen(TN),and dissolved organic carbon(DOC).The degree scores,betweenness centralities,and composition of keystone species were distinct among the elevations.These results demonstrate strong elevational partitioning in the distributions of soil bacterial communities along the gradient on Zijin Mountain.Soil pH and elevation together drove the smallscale elevational distribution of soil bacterial communities.This study broadens our understanding of distribution patterns and biotic co-occurrence associations of soil bacterial communities from large elevational gradients to short elevational gradients.Xu Liu Teng Yang Yu Shi Yichen Zhu Mulin He Yunke Zhao Jonathan MAdams Haiyan Chu 2021Soil Ecology Letters2021,3,4:2
5A potato late blight resistance gene protects against multiple Phytophthora species by recognizing a broadly conserved RXLR-WY effector显示文摘Species of the genus Phytophthora,the plant killer,cause disease and reduce yields in many crop plants.Although many Resistance to Phytophthora infestans(Rpi)genes effective against potato late blight have been cloned,few have been cloned against other Phytophthora species.Most Rpi genes encode nucleotide-binding domain,leucine-rich repeat-containing(NLR)immune receptor proteins that recognize RXLR(Arg-X-Leu-Arg)effectors.However,whether NLR proteins can recognize RXLR effectors from multiple Phytophthora species has rarely been investigated.Here,we identified a new RXLR-WY effector AVRamr3 from P.infestans that is recognized by Rpi-amr3 from a wild Solanaceae species Solanum americanum.Rpi-amr3 associates with AVRamr3 in planta.AVRamr3 is broadly conserved in many different Phytophthora species,and the recognition of AVRamr3 homologs by Rpi-amr3 activates resistance against multiple Phytophthora pathogens,including the tobacco black shank disease and cacao black pod disease pathogens P.parasitica and P.palmivora.Rpi-amr3 is thus the first characterized resistance gene that acts against P.parasitica or P.palmivora.These findings suggest a novel path to redeploy known R genes against different important plant pathogens.Xiao Lin Andrea Olave-Achury Robert Heal Marina Pais Kamil Witek Hee-Kyung Ahn He Zhao Shivani Bhanvadia Hari S.Karki Tianqiao Song Chih-hang Wu Hiroaki Adachi Sophien Kamoun Vivianne G.A.A.Vleeshouwers Jonathan D.G.Jones 2022Molecular Plant2022,15,9:2

13Reliability of Chinese web-based ocular surface disease index questionnaire in dry eye patients:a randomized,crossover study显示文摘AIM:To assess the reliability of web-based version of ocular surface disease index in Chinese(C-OSDI)on clinically diagnosed dry eye disease(DE)patients.METHODS:A total of 254 Chinese participants(51%male,129/254;mean age:27.90±9.06 y)with DED completed paper-and web-based versions of C-OSDI questionnaires in a randomized crossover design.Ophthalmology examination and DED diagnosis were performed prior to the participants being invited to join the study.Participants were randomly designated to either group A(paper-based first and webbased second)or group B(web-based first and paper-based second).Final data analysis included participants that had successfully completed both versions of the C-OSDI.Demographic characteristics,test-retest reliability,and agreement of individual items,subscales,and total score were evaluated with intraclass correlation coefficients(ICC),Spearman rank correlation,Wilcoxon test and Rasch analysis.RESULTS:Reliability indexes were adequate,Pearson correlation was greater than 0.8 and ICCs range was 0.827 to 0.982;total C-OSDI score was not statistically different between the two versions.The values of mean-squares fit statistics were very low compared to 1,indicating that the responses to the items by the model had a high degree of predictability.While comparing the favorability 72%(182/254)of the participants preferred web-based assessment.CONCLUSION:Web-based C-OSDI is reliable in assessing DED and correlation with the paper-based version is significant in all subscales and overall total score.Webbased C-OSDI can be administered to assess individuals with DED as participants predominantly favored online assessment.Xin-Mei Zhang Lan-Ting Yang Qing Zhang Qing-Xia Fan Can Zhang Yue You Chen-Guang Zhang Tie-Zhu Lin Ling Xu Salissou Moutari Jonathan E.Moore Emmanuel E.Pazo Wei He 2021International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2021,14,6:1
