| 1 | Bph30confers resistance to brown planthopperby fortifying sclerenchyma in rice leaf sheaths显示文摘Phloem-feeding insects cause massive losses in agriculture and horticulture.Host plant resistance to phloem-feeding insects is often mediated by changes in phloem composition,which deter insect settling and feeding and decrease viability.Here,we report that rice plant resistance to the phloem-feeding brown planthopper(BPH)is associated with fortification of the sclerenchyma tissue,which is located just beneath the epidermis and a cell layer or two away from the vascular bundle in the rice leaf sheath.We found that BPHs prefer to feed on the smooth and soft region on the surface of rice leaf sheaths called the long-cell block.We identified Bph30 as a rice BPH resistance gene that prevents BPH stylets from reaching the phloem due to the fortified sclerenchyma.Bph30 is strongly expressed in sclerenchyma cells and enhances cellulose and hemicellulose synthesis,making the cell walls stiffer and sclerenchyma thicker.The structurally fortified sclerenchyma is a formidable barrier preventing BPH stylets from penetrating the leaf sheath tissues and arriving at the phloem to feed.Bph30 belongs to a novel gene family,encoding a protein with two leucine-rich domains.Another member of the family,Bph40,also conferred resistance to BPH.Collectively,the fortified sclerenchyma-mediated resistance mechanism revealed in this study expands our understanding of plant-insect interactions and opens a new path for controlling planthoppers in rice. | Shaojie Shi Huiying Wang Lingyun Nie Di Tan Cong Zhou Qian Zhang YiLi Bo Du Jianping Guo Jin Huang DiWu Xiaohong Zheng Wei Guan Junhan Shan Lili Zhu Rongzhi Chen Longjian Xue Linda L.Walling Guangcun He | 2021 | Molecular Plant2021,14,10: | 7 |

| 3 | PhaseFIT:live-organoid phase-fluorescent image transformation via generative AI显示文摘Organoid models have provided a powerful platform for mechanistic investigations into fundamental biological processes involved in the development and function of organs.Despite the potential for image-based phenotypic quantification of organoids,their complex 3D structure,and the time-consuming and labor-intensive nature of immunofluorescent staining present significant challenges.In this work,we developed a virtual painting system,PhaseFIT(phase-fluorescent image transformation)utilizing customized and morphologically rich 2.5D intestinal organoids,which generate virtual fluorescent images for phenotypic quantification via accessible and low-cost organoid phase images.This system is driven by a novel segmentation-informed deep generative model that specializes in segmenting overlap and proximity between objects.The model enables an annotation-free digital transformation from phase-contrast to multi-channel fluorescent images.The virtual painting results of nuclei,secretory cell markers,and stem cells demonstrate that PhaseFIT outperforms the existing deep learning-based stain transformation models by generating fine-grained visual content.We further validated the efficiency and accuracy of PhaseFIT to quantify the impacts of three compounds on crypt formation,cell population,and cell stemness.PhaseFIT is the first deep learning-enabled virtual painting system focused on live organoids,enabling large-scale,informative,and efficient organoid phenotypic quantification.PhaseFIT would enable the use of organoids in high-throughput drug screening applications. | Junhan Zhao Xiyue Wang Junyou Zhu Chijioke Chukwudi Andrew Finebaum Jun Zhang Sen Yang Shijie He Nima Saeidi | 2023 | Light(Science & Applications)2023,12,12: | 0 |
| 4 | Training needs in intravenous infusion care for children in China:A cross-sectional study显示文摘Aim:This study aims to evaluate demands for general and pharmacological knowledge and training related to intravenous(IV)therapy among pediatric nurses.Materials and Methods:This multicentric cross‑sectional study involved 12,707 pediatric nurses from 100 hospitals in China.A questionnaire was used to assess information about IV drug administration training received,and the demands for pharmacology‑related knowledge,and corresponding methods of acquisition.A generalized linear model using Logit link function was employed to assess relationships between factors and multivariate analysis was conducted.Results:More than 99%of participants showed their training demands for IV therapy training.Pediatric nurses’demands and methods for acquiring IV therapy knowledge and the knowledge related to IV therapy pharmacology have significant differences in social demographic factors,previous knowledge,whether they have received training or not,and other factors(all P<0.05).Received a needlestick injury in the past month(P=0.007)and knowledge acquired through in‑hospital or out‑of‑hospital training(P=0.039)were factors that reduced the demands for methods to acquire further pharmacology‑related knowledge of IV therapy.Working in internal medicine(P=0.025)and not having experienced a needlestick injury in the past year(P=0.007)reduced the demands for IV therapy knowledge.Attended hospital(P=0.007)or departmental meetings(P=0.009),being pediatric primary nurses(P=0.044),and studied special IV guidelines(P=0.006)reduced the desire for methods to acquire IV therapy knowledge.Conclusion:There was a high demand for greater general and pharmacological knowledge related to IV therapy among pediatric nurses.Resources should be coordinated to provide ongoing training to nurses to improve the quality of IV care. | Jingjing LI Jiaxin FANG Liu HAN Junhan YANG Xueyan FAN Dahua ZHANG | 2023 | Journal of Integrative Nursing2023,5,2: | 0 |
| 5 | Tartaric acid additive to enhance perovskite multiple preferential orientations for high-performance solar cells显示文摘Perovskite film quality is a decisive factor governing the performance and long-term stability of perovskite solar cells(PSCs). To passivate defects for high-quality perovskite films, various additives have been explored in perovskite precursor with notable achievements in the development of highperformance PSCs. Herein, tartaric acid(TA) was applied as additive in perovskite precursor solution to modulate the crystal growth leading to high quality thin films with enhanced multiple preferential orientations favoring efficient charge transport along multiple directions. It is also noticed that TA can improve the energy level alignment in PSCs, which effectively accelerates both carrier extraction and transportation with non-radiative recombination suppressed at the perovskite interfaces. Based on the present perovskite films, the fabricated PSCs achieved an excellent champion power conversion efficiency(PCE) of 21.82% from that of 19.70% for the control device without TA additive. In addition, a PSC with TA additive was shown to exhibit impressive operational stability by retaining 92% of its initial PCE after~1200 h of aging at room temperature in ambient air with a relative humidity of about 10%–25%. | 6 | Effects of Genetic Variation in the 20th Intron of Sansui Duck ATP2A2 Gene on Eggshell Quality显示文摘In order to explore the influence of the polymorphism in the 20intron region of the Sansui duck ATP2A2 gene on the eggshell quality,this study used Primer Premier 5 software to design and synthesize a pair of primers in the 20 intron region,two-way direct sequencing and sequence alignment to mine SNPs Sites,SPSS 18.0 software was used to analyze the relationship between SNP sites and eggshell quality of Sansui duck.Three SNP sites were found in the 20 intron region of the ATP2A2 gene:g.40874 T>C,g.40920 G>A and g.40990 T=C,all of which were moderately polymorphic,at the site g.40874 T>C and g.40920 G>A both deviated significantly from Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium(P>0.05),position g.40990 T=C accords with Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium(P<0.05),and position g.40874 T>C There is a strong linkage disequilibrium between g.40990 T=C;a total of 4 haplotypes and 9 double types were detected at 3 SNP loci;the results of association analysis showed that g.40874 T>C mutation had a significant effect on eggshell strength and eggshell weight.The eggshell strength of CC genotype was significantly higher than that of TC and TT genotypes(P<0.05),the eggshell weight of CC genotype was significantly higher than that of TC genotype(P<0.05),and 40990 T=C mutation had a significant effect on eggshell strength.The eggshell strength of TC genotype was significantly higher than that of the TT genotype(P<0.05).In summary,the g.40874 T>C and g.40990 T=C found in the 20th intron region of the Sansui duck ATP2A2 gene may be the marker sites that affect the quality of the eggshell. | Junhan Mei Yiyu Zhang Minfang You Chaomei Liao Guanghui Tan Jiezhang Li | 2021 | Journal of Zoological Research2021,3,2: | 0 |
| 7 | Molecular analysis of Coxsackievirus A24 variant isolates from three outbreaks of acute hemorrhagic conjunctivitis in 1988,1994 and 2007 in Beijing,China显示文摘Coxsackievirus A24 variant(CVA24v)is a major pathogen that causes continued outbreaks and pandemics of acute hemorrhagic conjunctivitis(AHC).In China,the first confirmed outbreak of CVA24v-related AHC occurred in Beijing in 1988,followed by another two significant outbreaks respectively in 1994 and 2007,which coincides with the three-stage dynamic distribution of AHC in the world after 1970s.To illustrate the genetic characteristics of CVA24v in different periods,a total of 23 strains were isolated from those three outbreaks and the whole genome of those isolations were sequenced and analyzed.Compared with the prototype strain,the 23 strains shared four nucleotide deletions in the 5'UTR except the 0744 strain isolated in 2007.And at the 98th site,one nucleotide insertion was found in all the strains collected from 2007.From 1994 to 2007,amino acid polarity in the VP1 region at the 25th and the 32nd site were changed.Both the 3C and VP1 phylogenetic tree indicated that isolates from 1988 and 1994 belonged to Genotype III(GIII),and 2007 strains to Genotype IV(GIV).According to the Bayesian analysis based on complete genome sequence,the most recent common ancestors for the isolates in1988,1994 and 2007 were respectively estimated around October 1987,February 1993 and December 2004.The evolutionary rate of the CVA24v was estimated to be 7.45×10^(-3) substitutions/site/year.Our study indicated that the early epidemic of CVA24v in Chinese mainland was the GIII.Point mutations and amino acid changes in different genotypes of CVA24v may generate intensity differences of the AHC outbreak.CVA24v has been evolving constantly with a relatively rapid rate. | Junhan Li Fang Huang Yong Zhang Tianjiao Ji Shuangli Zhu Dongyan Wang Zhenzhi Han Jinbo Xiao Fenfen Si Wenbo Xu Dongmei Yan | 2022 | Virologica Sinica2022,37,2: | 0 |

| 9 | Effect of aerobic exercise on GRP78 and ATF6 expressions in mice with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease显示文摘Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is a prevalent medical condition with an ever-growing trend.Although multiple intracellular mechanisms are involved,endoplasmic reticulum(ER)stress has been demonstrated to play a significant role in the genesis and progression.Most of the research supports the advantages of exercise for NAFLD.However,little is known about the molecular mechanism(s)that underpin the effectiveness of exercise training in NAFLD.This study aimed to identify how aerobic exercise affected hepatic ER stress in a mouse NAFLD model.In this study,the mice were fed either a standard diet(SD)or a high-fat diet(HFD)for 17 weeks.HFD mice were trained on a treadmill during the last eight weeks.All animals were tested for serum levels of biochemical assays,protein expression,and gene expression.The hematoxylin and eosin,Oil red O,and immunohistochemistry staining were also performed.The results indicated that a high-fat diet generated NAFLD,with serum lipid disruption and hepatic function impairment,and increased GRP78 and ATF6 expressions.However,aerobic training reversed the majority of these alterations.It is concluded that NAFLD appears to be associated with hepatic ER stress response,and aerobic exercise mitigates NAFLD via lowering ER stress proteins GRP78 and ATF6. | Junhan Li Lei Huang Wei Xiong Chun Gu Shuling Zhang Xiali Xue | 2023 | Sports Medicine and Health Science2023,5,2: | 0 |
