| 1 | Aerosol light absorption in a coastal city in Southeast China:Temporal variations and implications for brown carbon显示文摘Light-absorbing carbonaceous aerosols including black carbon(BC) and brown carbon(BrC)play significant roles in atmospheric radiative properties. One-year measurements of aerosol light absorption at multi-wavelength were continuously conducted in Xiamen,southeast of China in 2014 to determine the light absorption properties including absorption coefficients(σabs) and absorption ?ngstr?m exponent(AAE) in the coastal city.Light absorptions of BC and BrC with their contributions to total light absorption were further quantified. Mean σabsat 370 nm and 880 nm were 56.6 ± 34.3 and 16.5 ± 11.2 Mm-1,respectively. σabspresented a double-peaks diurnal pattern with the maximum in the morning and the minimum in the afternoon. σabswas low in warm seasons and high in cold seasons. AAE ranged from 0.26 to 2.58 with the annual mean of 1.46, implying that both fossil fuel combustion and biomass burning influenced aerosol optical properties. σabsof BrC at 370 nm was 24.0 ± 5.7 Mm-1, contributing 42% to the total absorption. The highest AAE(1.52 ± 0.02) and largest BrC contributions(47% ± 4%) in winter suggested the significant influence of biomass burning on aerosol light absorption. Long-distance air masses passing through North China Plain and the Yangtze River Delta led to high AAE and BrC contributions. High AAE value of 1.46 in July indicated that long-range transport of the air pollutants from intense biomass burning in Southeast Asia would affect aerosol light absorption in Southeast China. | 9 | Relationships between Cloud Droplet Spectral Relative Dispersion and Entrainment Rate and Their Impacting Factors显示文摘Cloud microphysical properties are significantly affected by entrainment and mixing processes.However,it is unclear how the entrainment rate affects the relative dispersion of cloud droplet size distribution.Previously,the relationship between relative dispersion and entrainment rate was found to be positive or negative.To reconcile the contrasting relationships,the Explicit Mixing Parcel Model is used to determine the underlying mechanisms.When evaporation is dominated by small droplets,and the entrained environmental air is further saturated during mixing,the relationship is negative.However,when the evaporation of big droplets is dominant,the relationship is positive.Whether or not the cloud condensation nuclei are considered in the entrained environmental air is a key factor as condensation on the entrained condensation nuclei is the main source of small droplets.However,if cloud condensation nuclei are not entrained,the relationship is positive.If cloud condensation nuclei are entrained,the relationship is dependent on many other factors.High values of vertical velocity,relative humidity of environmental air,and liquid water content,and low values of droplet number concentration,are more likely to cause the negative relationship since new saturation is easier to achieve by evaporation of small droplets.Further,the signs of the relationship are not strongly affected by the turbulence dissipation rate,but the higher dissipation rate causes the positive relationship to be more significant for a larger entrainment rate.A conceptual model is proposed to reconcile the contrasting relationships.This work enhances the understanding of relative dispersion and lays a foundation for the quantification of entrainment-mixing mechanisms. | Shi LUO Chunsong LU Yangang LIU Yaohui LI Wenhua GAO Yujun QIU Xiaoqi XU Junjun LI Lei ZHU Yuan WANG Junjie WU Xinlin YANG | 2022 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2022,39,12: | 0 |
| 10 | Interactions of Indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase-expressing LAMP3+dendritic cells with CD4+regulatory T cells and CD8+exhausted T cells:synergistically remodeling of the immunosuppressive microenvironment in cervical cancer and therapeutic implications显示文摘Background Cervical cancer(CC)is the fourth most common cancer in women worldwide.Although immunotherapy has been applied in clinical practice,its therapeutic efficacy remains far from satisfactory,necessitating further investigation of the mechanism of CC immune remodeling and exploration of novel treatment targets.This study aimed to investigate the mechanism of CC immune remodeling and explore potential therapeutic targets.Methods We conducted single-cell RNA sequencing on a total of 17 clinical specimens,including normal cervical tissues,high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions,and CC tissues.To validate our findings,we conducted multicolor immunohistochemical staining of CC tissues and constructed a subcutaneous tumorigenesis model in C57BL/6 mice using murine CC cell lines(TC1)to evaluate the effectiveness of combination therapy involving indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase 1(IDO1)inhibition and immune checkpoint blockade(ICB).We used the unpaired two-tailed Student's t-test,Mann-Whitney test,or Kruskal-Wallis test to compare continuous data between two groups and one-way ANOVA with Tukey's post hoc test to compare data between multiple groups.Results Malignant cervical epithelial cells did not manifest noticeable signs of tumor escape,whereas lysosomal-associated membrane protein 3-positive(LAMP3+)dendritic cells(DCs)in a mature state with immunoregulatory roles were found to express IDO1 and affect tryptophan metabolism.These cells interacted with both tumor-reactive exhausted CD8+T cells and CD4+regulatory T cells,synergistically forming a vicious immunosuppressive cycle and mediating CC immune escape.Further validation through multicolor immunohistochemical staining showed co-localization of neoantigen-reactive T cells(CD3+,CD4+/CD8+,and PD-1+)and LAMP3+DCs(CD80+and PD-L1+).Additionally,a combination of the IDO1 inhibitor with an ICB agent significantly reduced tumor volume in the mouse model of CC compared with an ICB agent alone.Conclusions Our study suggested that a combination treatment consisting of targeting IDO1 and ICB agent could improve the therapeutic efficacy of current CC immunotherapies.Additionally,our results provided crucial insights for designing drugs and conducting future clinical trials for CC. | Xinyu Qu Yumeng Wang Qian Jiang Tingting Ren Chenyan Guo Keqin Hua Junjun Qiu | 2023 | Cancer Communications2023,43,11: | 0 |
| 11 | Arabidopsis RNA polymerase Ⅱ C-terminal domain phosphatase-like 1 targets mitogen-activated protein kinase cascades to suppress plant immunity显示文摘Mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK) cascades play pivotal roles in plant defense against phytopathogens downstream of immune receptor complexes. The amplitude and duration of MAPK activation must be strictly controlled, but the underlying mechanism remains unclear. Here, we identified Arabidopsis CPL1(C-terminal domain phosphatase-like 1)as a negative regulator of microbe-associated molecular pattern(MAMP)-triggered immunity via a forward-genetic screen. Disruption of CPL1 significantly enhanced plant resistance to Pseudomonas pathogens induced by the bacterial peptide fg22. Furthermore, fg22-induced MPK3/MPK4/MPK6 phosphorylation was dramatically elevated in cpl1 mutants but severely impaired in CPL1 overexpression lines, suggesting that CPL1 might interfere with fg22-induced MAPK activation. Indeed, CPL1 directly interacted with MPK3 and MPK6, as well as the upstream MKK4 and MKK5. A firefy luciferase-based complementation assay indicated that the interaction between MKK4/MKK5 and MPK3/MPK6 was significantly reduced in the presence of CPL1. | 12 | Basic characteristics of key interfaces in Upper Ordovician Wufeng Formation – Lower Silurian Longmaxi Formation in Sichuan Basin and its periphery,SW China显示文摘Based on anatomy of key areas and data points and analysis of typical features of shell layer in Guanyinqiao Member, basic characteristics of key interfaces, mainly bentonite layers, in the Upper Ordovician Wufeng Formation-Lower Silurian Longmaxi Formation in the Sichuan Basin and its surrounding areas and the relationship between these key interfaces with the deposition of organic-rich shale have been examined systematically. The Wufeng Formation-Longmaxi Formation has four types of marker beds with interface attributes, namely, the characteristic graptolite belt, Guanyinqiao Member shell layer, section with dense bentonite layers, and concretion section, which can be taken as key interfaces for stratigraphic division and correlation of the graptolite shale. The shell layer in Guanyinqiao Member is the most standard key interface in Wufeng Formation-Longmaxi Formation, and can also be regarded as an important indicator for judging the depositional scale of organic-rich shale in key areas. There are 8 dense bentonite sections of two types mainly occurring in 7 graptolite belts in these formations. They have similar interface characteristics with the shell layer in Guanyinqiao Member in thickness and natural gamma response, and belong to tectonic interfaces(i.e., event deposits). They have three kinds of distribution scales: whole region, large part of the region, and local part, and can be the third, fourth and fifth order sequence interfaces, and have a differential control effect on organic-rich shale deposits. The horizon the characteristic graptolite belt occurs first is the isochronous interface, which is not directly related to the deposition of organic-rich shale. | 13 | Enhancing Green Ammonia Electrosynthesis Through Tuning Sn Vacancies in Sn‑Based MXene/ MAX Hybrids显示文摘Renewable energy driven N_(2) electroreduction with air as nitrogen source holds great promise for realizing scalable green ammonia production.However,relevant out-lab research is still in its infancy.Herein,a novel Sn-based MXene/MAX hybrid with abundant Sn vacancies,Sn@Ti_(2)CTX/Ti_(2)SnC–V,was synthesized by controlled etching Sn@Ti_(2)SnC MAX phase and demonstrated as an efficient electrocatalyst for electrocatalytic N2 reduction.Due to the synergistic effect of MXene/MAX heterostructure,the existence of Sn vacancies and the highly dispersed Sn active sites,the obtained Sn@Ti2CTX/Ti_(2)SnC–V exhibits an optimal NH_(3) yield of 28.4μg h^(−1) mg_(cat)^(−1) with an excellent FE of 15.57% at−0.4 V versus reversible hydrogen electrode in 0.1 M Na_(2)SO_(4),as well as an ultra-long durability.Noticeably,this catalyst represents a satisfactory NH3 yield rate of 10.53μg h^(−1) mg^(−1) in the home-made simulation device,where commercial electrochemical photovoltaic cell was employed as power source,air and ultrapure water as feed stock.The as-proposed strategy represents great potential toward ammonia production in terms of financial cost according to the systematic technical economic analysis.This work is of significance for large-scale green ammonia production. | Xinyu Dai Zhen‑Yi Du Ying Sun Ping Chen Xiaoguang Duan Junjun Zhang Hui Li Yang Fu Baohua Jia Lei Zhang Wenhui Fang Jieshan Qiu Tianyi Ma | 2024 | Nano-Micro Letters2024,16,5: | 0 |
| 14 | Advances in selective catalytic oxidation of ammonia (NH_(3)-SCO): A review of catalyst structure-activity relationship and design principles显示文摘NH_(3) in ambient air directly leads to an increase in the aerosol content in the air. These substances lead to the formation of haze to various environmental problems after atmospheric circulation and diffusion. Controlling NH_(3) emissions caused by ammonia escaping from mobile and industrial sources can effectively reduce the NH_(3) content in ambient air. Among the various NH_(3) removal methods, the selective catalytic oxygen method (NH_(3)-SCO) is committed to oxidizing NH_(3) to environmentally harmless H_(2)O and N_(2);therefore, it is the most valuable and ideal ammonia removal method. In this review, the characteristics of loaded and core-shell catalysts in NH_(3)-SCO have been reviewed in the context of catalyst structure-activity relationships, and the H_(2)O resistance and SO2 resistance of the catalysts are discussed in the context of practical application conditions. Then the effects of the valence state of the active center, oxygen species on the catalyst surface, dispersion of the active center and acidic sites on the catalyst performance are discussed comprehensively.
