Evaluation of health benefit using Ben MAP-CE with an integrated scheme of model and monitor data during Guangzhou Asian Games显示文摘Guangzhou is the capital and largest city(land area:7287 km2)of Guangdong province in South China. The air quality in Guangzhou typically worsens in November due to unfavorable meteorological conditions for pollutant dispersion.During the Guangzhou Asian Games in November 2010,the Guangzhou government carried out a number of emission control measures that significantly improved the air quality. In this paper,we estimated the acute health outcome changes related to the air quality improvement during the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games using a next-generation,fully-integrated assessment system for air quality and health benefits. This advanced system generates air quality data by fusing model and monitoring data instead of using monitoring data alone, which provides more reliable results. The air quality estimates retain the spatial distribution of model results while calibrating the value with observations. The results show that the mean PM_2.5concentration in November 2010 decreased by 3.5μg/m^3 compared to that in 2009 due to the emission control measures. From the analysis,we estimate that the air quality improvement avoided 106 premature deaths,1869 cases of hospital admission, and 20,026 cases of outpatient visits. The overall cost benefit of the improved air quality is estimated to be 165 million CNY,with the avoided premature death contributing 90%of this figure. The research demonstrates that Ben MAP-CE is capable of assessing the health and cost benefits of air pollution control for sound policy making. | Dian Ding Yun Zhu Carey Jang Che-Jen Lin Shuxiao Wang Joshua Fu Jian Gao Shuang Deng Junping Xie Xuezhen Qiu | 2016 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2016,28,4: | 13
Design and demonstration of a next-generation air quality attainment assessment system for PM_(2.5)and O_3显示文摘Due to the increasingly stringent standards, it is important to assess whether the proposed emission reduction will result in ambient concentrations that meet the standards. The Software for Model Attainment Test—Community Edition(SMAT-CE) is developed for demonstrating attainment of air quality standards of O3 and PM2.5. SMAT-CE improves computational efficiency and provides a number of advanced visualization and analytical functionalities on an integrated GIS platform. SMAT-CE incorporates historical measurements of air quality parameters and simulated air pollutant concentrations under a number of emission inventory scenarios to project the level of compliance to air quality standards in a targeted future year. An application case study of the software based on the U.S. National Ambient Air Quality Standards(NAAQS) shows that SMAT-CE is capable of demonstrating the air quality attainment of annual PM2.5and 8-hour O3 for a proposed emission control policy. | Hua Wang Yun Zhu Carey Jang Che-Jen Lin Shuxiao Wang Joshua S.Fu Jian Gao Shuang Deng Junping Xie Dian Ding Xuezhen Qiu Shicheng Long | 2015 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2015,27,3: | 11
Development and case study of a science-based software platform to support policy making on air quality显示文摘This article describes the development and implementations of a novel software platform that supports real-time, science-based policy making on air quality through a user-friendly interface. The software, RSM-VAT, uses a response surface modeling(RSM) methodology and serves as a visualization and analysis tool(VAT) for three-dimensional air quality data obtained by atmospheric models. The software features a number of powerful and intuitive data visualization functions for illustrating the complex nonlinear relationship between emission reductions and air quality benefits. The case study of contiguous U.S.demonstrates that the enhanced RSM-VAT is capable of reproducing the air quality model results with Normalized Mean Bias < 2% and assisting in air quality policy making in near real time. | Yun Zhu Yanwen Lao Carey Jang Chen-Jen Lin Jia Xing Shuxiao Wang Joshua S.Fu Shuang Deng Junping Xie Shicheng Long | 2015 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2015,27,1: | 10
A case study of development and application of a streamlined control and response modeling system for PM_(2.5)attainment assessment in China显示文摘This article describes the development and application of a streamlined air control and response modeling system with a novel response surface modeling-linear coupled fitting method and a new module to provide streamlined model data for PM_(2.5) attainment assessment in China. This method is capable of significantly reducing the dimensions required to establish a response surface model,as well as capturing more realistic response of PM_(2.5) to emission changes with a limited number of model simulations. The newly developed module establishes a data link between the system and the Software for Model Attainment Test—Community Edition(SMAT-CE),and has the ability to rapidly provide model responses to emission control scenarios for SMAT-CE using a simple interface. The performance of this streamlined system is demonstrated through a case study of the Yangtze River Delta(YRD) in China. Our results show that this system is capable of reproducing the Community Multi-Scale Air Quality(CMAQ) model simulation results with maximum mean normalized error < 3.5%.It is also demonstrated that primary emissions make a major contribution to ambient levels of PM_(2.5) in January and August(e.g.,more than50%contributed by primary emissions in Shanghai),and Shanghai needs to have regional emission control both locally and in its neighboring provinces to meet China's annual PM_(2.5)National Ambient Air Quality Standard. The streamlined system provides a real-time control/response assessment to identify the contributions of major emission sources to ambient PM_(2.5)(and potentially O_3 as well) and streamline air quality data for SMAT-CE to perform attainment assessments. | Shicheng Long Yun Zhu Carey Jang Che-Jen Lin Shuxiao Wang Bin Zhao Jian Gao Shuang Deng Junping Xie Xuezhen Qiu | 2016 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2016,28,3: | 9
An Ethylene-inhibited NF-YC Transcription Factor RhNF-YC9 Regulates Petal Expansion in Rose显示文摘The speed of flower opening is closely related to their ornamental period.Ethylene functions as a negative regulator involved in the regulation of the petal expansion process. In this study,we isolated a NF-YC transcription factor gene,RhNF-YC9,fromrose petals.RhNF-YC9 expression was induced at the early stages of flower opening but was inhibited by ethylene treatment.Silencing RhNF-YC9 decreased the speed of petal expansion from stage 2 to stage 5.The expressions of 11 cell expansion-related genes involved in cell wall loosening, cell turgor modulation, and cytoskeleton remodeling were significantly down-regulated in RhNF-YC9-silenced petals. We also found that silencing RhNF-YC9 decreased the expression of gibberellin acid(GA)biosynthetic gene RhGA20ox while significantly increasing the transcripts of GA catabolic gene RhGA2ox,reducing the accumulation of GA4 and GA7.The influence of ethylene treatment on the expression of RhGA20ox and RhGA2ox showed the same trend. These results together suggested that RhNF-YC9 positively regulated the speed of petal expansion and mediated the crosstalk between ethylene and GA.Our findings revealed a new insight into the function of NF-YC transcription factors involved in ethylene-regulated petal expansion. | Changxi Chen Nisar Hussain Yaru Wang Mingtong Li Lin Liu Meizhu Qin Nan Ma Junping Gao Xiaoming Sun | 2020 | Horticultural Plant Journal2020,6,6: | 9

Robust L_2-L_∞ control for uncertain singular systems with time-varying delay显示文摘We study the problem of L2-L1 control for a class of uncertain singular systems with time-delay and norm-bounded parameter uncertainties in this paper. A new delay-dependent robust stability criterion is obtained in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Based on this criterion, a state feedback controller is designed to guarantee that the closed-loop system is regular, impulse free and stable with a prescribed L2-L1 performance satisfied for all admissible parameter uncertainties. A simulation example is included to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. | Lin Li Yingmin Jia Junping Du Shiying Yuan | 2008 | Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2008,18,8: | 5
Oxidation behavior of Mo-Si-B alloys at medium-to-high temperatures显示文摘Continuous exploration of high-temperature structural materials is being driven by the needs of gasturbine engines capable of withstanding the high-temperature environment.Relatively low melting points of currently applied superalloys restrain the further improvement of service tempe ratures. With higher melting tempe ratures above 2000℃,Mo-Si-B alloys are regarded as a new generation of ultrahightemperature structural materials. However, oxidation is a concern for the industrial application of Mo-Si-B alloys. Therefore,an in-depth understanding of the oxidation mechanisms may contribute to solving this issue, whereas relevant reviews about their recent advances are lacking. In the current work,a comprehensively systematic review about the oxidation behaviors of Mo-Si-B alloys is described for this purpose. | Kunming Pan Yanping Yang Shizhong Wei Honghui Wu Zhili Dong Yuan Wu Shuize Wang Laiqi Zhang Junping Lin Xinping Mao | 2021 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,1: | 5
Isothermal corrosion Fe_3Si alloy in liquid zinc显示文摘The isothermal corrosion testing, microscopic examination and the performance of Fe3Si alloy as materials of construction for bath hardware in continuous hot-dipping lines were studied. The corrosion of Fe3Si alloy in molten zinc was controlled by at- tacking the grain boundaries preferentially. Aluminum reacted with iron of Fe3Si alloy firstly while the samples were immersed in molten zinc, although aluminum contents in the molten zinc were very low. The phase of reaction product was thought to be Fe2Al5. The corrosion rate of the Fe3Si alloy in molten zinc was determined to be approximately 2.9×10?3 mm/h, therefore the liquid zinc cor- rosion resistance of Fe3Si alloy was very weak. | Wenjun Wang Junping Lin Yanli Wang Guoliang Chen | 2007 | Journal of University of Science and Technology Beijing2007,14,1: | 4
Effects of Zr/Ti molar ratio in SO_4^(2-)/ZrO_(2-)TiO_2 calcined at different temperatures on its surface properties and glucose reactivity in near-critical methanol显示文摘Effects of Zr/Ti molar ratio in SO42-/ZrO2-TiO2 solid acid catalyst calcined at different temperatures on its surface properties and catalytic activity were thoroughly investigated in this paper. The physicochemical characteristics of prepared samples were determined by N2 adsorptiondesorption, XRD, NH3-TPD and XPS techniques, respectively. It was found that the crystallization temperature of the samples increased after the combination of ZrO2 and TiO2; and phase transformations from the anatase to the rutile of TiO2 species and the tetragonal to the monoclinic of ZrO2 species were effectively suppressed at higher temperature. The sample with a Zr/Ti molar ratio of 3/1 calcined at 450℃ showed the highest surface area and the most acid sites among all the tested samples. The acid site densities of samples were relatively closed to each other if they were calcined at the same temperature, however, decreased with the calcination temperature. The result indicates that the sulfur content in samples is a crucial factor to control the acid site density. Calcining the sample at 650℃ and higher temperatures resulted in a significant desorption of sulfate ion on the samples. The synthesized samples were evaluated as a potential catalyst for glucose conversion under the near-critical methanol conditions (200℃/4 MPa). The results suggested that the relatively weaker acid sites of the catalyst were more favorable for the accumulation of methyl glucosides, while the moderate acid sites were responsible for the formation of methyl levulinate. The catalytic activity for methyl levulinate production almost increases linearly with the catalyst acid site density. The catalyst deactivation is due to the loss of sulfate ion and the two catalysts with Zr/Ti molar ratios of 3/1 and 1/3 could effectively alleviate the deactivation caused by sulfate solution in the reaction medium and can be reused after calcination with the reuse rate of over 90% in terms of the methyl levulinate selectivity. | Lincai Peng Junping Zhuang Lu Lin | 2012 | Journal of Natural Gas Chemistry2012,21,2: | 3

p53 deficiency-induced Smad1 upregulation suppresses tumorigenesis and causes chemoresistance in colorectal cancers显示文摘The DNA damage response helps to maintain genome integrity, suppress tumorigenesis, and mediate the effects of radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Our previous studies have shown that Smad1 is upregulated and activated by Atm in DNA damage response, which can further bind to p53 and promote p53 stabilization.Herewe report another aspect of the interplay between p53 and Smad1.Comparison of rectal tumor against paired paraneoplastic specimens and analysis of>500 colorectal tumors revealed that Smad1 was upregulated in tumor samples, which was attributable to p53 defects.Using MEFs as a model,we found that knockdown of the elevated Smad1 in p532/2 MEFs promoted cell proliferation,E1A/Ras-induced cell transformation, and tumorigenesis.Mechanistic studies suggest that elevated Smad1 and momentary activation inhibit cell proliferation by upregulating p57Kip2 and enhancing Atm–Chk2 activation.Surprisingly, elevated Smad1 appears to have a negative effect on chemotherapy,as colorectal tumors, primary cancer cells, and cell lines with Smad1 knockdown all showed an increase in chemosensitivity, which could be attributable to elevated p57Kip2.These findings underscore the significance of Smad1–p53 interaction in tumor suppression and reveal an unexpected role for Smad1 in chemoresistance of colorectal cancers. | Xinsen Ruan Qiao Zuo Hao Jia Jenny Chau Jinlin Lin Junping Ao Xuechun Xia Huijuan Liu Samy LHabib Chuangang Fu Baojie Li | 2015 | Journal of Molecular Cell Biology2015,7,2: | 2

Long-wavelength(red to near-infrared) emissive carbon dots: Key factors for synthesis, fluorescence mechanism, and applications in biosensing and cancer theranostics显示文摘Carbon dots(CDs), as a new member of carbon nanostructures, have been widely applied in extensive fields due to their exceptional physicochemical properties. While, the emissions of most reported CDs are located in the blue to green range under the excitation of ultraviolet or blue light, which severely limits their practical applications, especially in photovoltaic and biological fields. Studies that focused on synthesizing CDs with long-wavelength(red to near-infrared) emission/excitation features(simply named L-w CDs) and exploring their potential applications have been frequently reported in recent years. In this review, we analyzed the key influence factors for the synthesis of CDs with long wavelength and multicolor(containing long wavelength) emissive properties, discussed possible fluorescence mechanism, and summarized their applications in sensing and cancer theranostics. Finally, the existing challenges and potential opportunities of L-w CDs are presented. | Aman Lv Qiao Chen Chen Zhao Si Li Shan Sun Junping Dong Zhongjun Li Hengwei Lin | 2021 | Chinese Chemical Letters2021,32,12: | 1
A Numerical Study on the Weak Galerkin Method for the Helmholtz Equation显示文摘A weak Galerkin(WG)method is introduced and numerically tested for the Helmholtz equation. This method is flexible by using discontinuous piecewise polynomials and retains the mass conservation property. At the same time, the WG finite element formulation is symmetric and parameter free.Several test scenarios are designed for a numerical investigation on the accuracy, convergence, and robustness of the WG method in both inhomogeneous and homogeneous media over convex and non-convex domains.Challenging problems with high wave numbers are also examined. Our numerical experiments indicate that the weak Galerkin is a finite element technique that is easy to implement, and provides very accurate and robust numerical solutions for the Helmholtz problem with high wave numbers. | Lin Mu Junping Wang Xiu Ye Shan Zhao | 2014 | Communications in Computational Physics2014,15,5: | 1

Characteristics of Liver Functions in Patients With COVID-19 and Construction of a Prognostic Evaluation Decision Model Based on Liver Functions显示文摘A number of studies have suggested that coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)can cause liver damage. However, clinical features and outcome of COVID-19 in patients with liver injury remain to be further investigated. In this study, the clinical data of 265 COVID-19 patients admitted to seven tertiary hospitals were collected.Based on a threshold for transaminase or total bilirubin levels at two times the normal upper limit, patients were divided into mild or moderate/severe liver injury groups.Among the 265 patients,183 patients showed liver injury within 48 hours of admission.Aspartate aminotransferase levels were predominantly elevated in the liver injury group, but albumin levels were reduced. Moreover, fibrinogen and D-dimer were significantly increased.Furthermore,68%of the patients with moderate/severe liver injury had one or more underlying diseases.Almost half of these patients developed acute respiratory distress syndrome(44%)and secondary infections(46%).These patients showed increased interleukin-6 and interleukin-10 levels and a decrease in PaO2 and the oxygenation index. In addition, levels of alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, and albumin were correlated with the oxygenation index,D-dimer and lymphocyte counts.Furthermore,a novel prognostic assessment model based on liver function was established, which accuracy reached 88%and was able to accurately assess the prognosis of COVID-19 patients. | Tongtong Pan Dazhi Chen Chenwei Pan Yi Kang Junping Liu Feifei Su Liang Hong Huili Li Hui Zhao Zhuo Lin Xiaodong Wang Hongwei Lin Qianjing Du Chao Cai Yongping Chen | 2020 | Infectious Microbes & Diseases2020,2,4: | 1
