| 1 | Biogreen Synthesis of Carbon Dots for Biotechnology and Nanomedicine Applications显示文摘Over the past decade, carbon dots have ignited a burst of interest in many different fields, including nanomedicine, solar energy, optoelectronics, energy storage,and sensing applications, owing to their excellent photoluminescence properties and the easiness to modify their optical properties through doping and functionalization. In this review, the synthesis, structural and optical properties,as well as photoluminescence mechanisms of carbon dots are first reviewed and summarized. Then, we describe a series of designs for carbon dot-based sensors and the different sensing mechanisms associated with them.Thereafter, we elaborate on recent research advances on carbon dot-based sensors for the selective and sensitive detection of a wide range of analytes, including heavy metals, cations, anions, biomolecules, biomarkers,nitroaromatic explosives, pollutants, vitamins, and drugs.Lastly, we provide a concluding perspective on the overall status, challenges, and future directions for the use of carbon dots in real-life sensing. | Kok Ken Chan Stephanie Hui Kit Yap Ken-Tye Yong | 2018 | Nano-Micro Letters2018,10,4: | 9 |
| 2 | Biodegradable nanocarriers for small interfering ribonucleic acid (siRNA) co-delivery strategy increase the chemosensitivity of pancreatic cancer cells to gemcitabine显示文摘Ribonucleic acid (RNA) interference (RNAi) therapies are promising cancertreatment modalities that can specifically target abnormal proto-oncogenes, thusimproving the therapeutic effect. For the treatment of pancreatic cancer, targetingone mutant proto-oncogene by RNAi usually does not yield the desired therapeuticefficiency. Both K-ras gene mutations and Notch1 overexpression are commonsymptoms in pancreatic cancer patients, and play a crucial role in pancreaticcancer cell drug resistance. In this study, biodegradable charged polyester-basedvectors (BCPVs) were synthesized for the co-delivery of K-ras and Notch1 smallinterfering ribonucleic acid (siRNA) into MiaPaCa-2 cells (pancreatic cancercell line) to overcome drug resistance to gemcitabine (GEM), a first-line chem-otherapeutic drug used in the clinic. BCPVs could effectively absorb negative siRNAto form a capsule-like structure, prevent siRNA from nuclease digestion in theserum, and promote effective siRNA cell internalization and endosomal escape.Through K-ras and Notch1 gene silencing in MiaPaCa-2 cells, BCPV-siRNAKsiRNAN^tcm nanocomplexes effectively reversed the epithelia-mesenchymaltransition (EMT) in MiaPaCa-2 cells, thereby greatly enhancing the sensitivity ofMiaPaCa-2 cells to GEM. MiaPaCa-2 cell proliferation, migration, and invasionwere effectively inhibited, and cell apoptosis was also significantly enhanced bythe synergistic antitumor effect of BCPV-siRNAK siRNAN^t~l nanocomplexesand GEM. These results suggest that this combination RNAi therapy can be usedto improve cancer cell sensitivity to chemotherapeutic drugs. | 4 | Cigarette smoke‑induced malignant transformation via STAT3 signalling in pulmonary epithelial cells in a lung‑on‑a‑chip model显示文摘Background Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)is a severe public health problem.Cigarette smoke(CS)is a risk factor for COPD and lung cancer.The underlying molecular mechanisms of CS-induced malignant transformation of bronchial epithelial cells remain unclear.In this study,we describe a lung-on-a-chip to explore the possible mechanistic link between cigarette smoke extract(CSE)-associated COPD and lung cancer.Methods An in vitro lung-on-a-chip model was used to simulate pulmonary epithelial cells and vascular endothelial cells with CSE.The levels of IL-6 and TNF-αwere tested as indicators of inflammation using an enzyme-linked immune sorbent assay.Apical junction complex mRNA expression was detected with qRT-PCR as the index of epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition(EMT).The effects of CSE on the phosphorylation of signal transduction and transcriptional activator 3(STAT3)were detected by Western blotting.Flow cytometry was performed to investigate the effects of this proto-oncogene on cell cycle distribution.Results Inflammation caused by CSE was achieved in a lung-on-a-chip model with a mimetic movement.CSE exposure induced the degradation of intercellular connections and triggered the EMT process.CSE exposure also activated the phosphorylation of proto-oncogene STAT3,while these effects were inhibited with HJC0152.Conclusions CSE exposure in the lung-on-a-chip model caused activation of STAT3 in epithelial cells and endothelial cells.HJC0152,an inhibitor of activated STAT3,could be a potential treatment for CS-associated COPD and lung cancer. | Wei Hou Siyi Hu Ken‑tye Yong Jie Zhang Hanbin Ma | 2020 | Bio-Design and Manufacturing2020,3,4: | 1 |

| 7 | Thickness Measurement of Insulation Coating by NIR Spectrometry Based on Boosting-KPLS显示文摘A novel thickness measurement method for surface insulation coating of silicon steel based on NIR spectrometry is explored.The NIR spectra of insulation coating of silicon steel were collected by acousto-optic tunable filter(AOTF) NIR spectrometer.To make full use of the effective information of NIR spectral data,discrete binary particle swarm optimization(DBPSO) algorithm was used to select the optimal wavelength variates.The new spectral data,composed of absorbance at selected wavelengths,were used to create the thickness quantitative analysis model by kernel partial least squares(KPLS) algorithm coupled with Boosting.The results of contrast experiments showed that the Boosting-KPLS model could efficiently improve the analysis accuracy and speed.It indicates that Boosting-KPLS is a more accurate and robust analysis method than KPLS for NIR spectral analysis.The maximal and minimal absolute error of 30 testing samples is respectively-0.02 μm and 0.19 μm,and the maximal relative error is 14.23%.These analysis results completely meet the practical measurement need. | HAO Hui-min LI Shi-wei ZHANG Wen-dong LI Peng-wei HAO Jun-yu LU Hai-ning Ken Jia ZHANG Yong | 2011 | 光谱学与光谱分析2011,31,8: | 1 |
