1Deep seismic reflection profile across the juncture zone between the Tarim Basin and the West Kunlun Mountains显示文摘Fine structures of the crust and upper mantle of the basin-and-range juncture on the northwestern margin of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau are first delineated by the deep seismic reflection profile across the juncture zone between the Tarim Basin and the West Kunlun Mountains. Evidence is found for the northward subduction of the northwest marginal lithosphere of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau and its collision with Tarim lithosphere beneath the West Kunlun Mountains. 2First report of the South American tomato leafminer, Tuta absoluta (Meyrick), in China显示文摘Tuta absoluta(Meyrick) originated in South America and is one of the most serious pests of tomatoes. It is also known to attack other solanaceous crops, including potato, eggplant, pepper, tobacco, and weedy species such as black nightshade. After accidental introduction into Spain in 2006, this pest spread rapidly throughout Afro-Eurasia and has become a major threat to tomato production worldwide. Here, we report the first record of T. absoluta as an invasive pest in China. It was found in tomato fields in Ili Kazakg Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region(Ili, Xinjiang), China, and its occurrence was confirmed by both morphological and molecular approaches. In Ili, T. absoluta has been found to attack eggplant, potato, and black nightshade. We found the larvae generally mining and feeding on leaves and boring into tomato fruits, with multiple larvae sometimes observed in a single fruit. Its infestation levels differ among the tomato fields and host species. In all of the surveyed tomato fields, T. absoluta infested 100% of plants. In some of the fields, up to 90% of the eggplant and 100% of the potato plants were infested. 5Overexpression of micro RNA_(40)8 enhances photosynthesis, growth, and seed yield in diverse plants显示文摘The ability of a plant to produce grain, fruit, or forage depends ultimately on photosynthesis. There have been few attempts, however, to study micro RNAs, which are a class of endogenous small RNAs post-transcriptionally programming gene expression, in relation to photosynthetic traits. We focused on miR_(40)8, one of the most conserved plant miRNAs, and overexpressed it in parallel in Arabidopsis, tobacco, and rice. The transgenic plants all exhibited increased copper content in the chloroplast, elevated abundance of plastocyanin,and an induction of photosynthetic genes. By means of gas exchange and optical spectroscopy analyses, we showed that higher expression of miR_(40)8 leads to enhanced photosynthesis through improving efficiency of irradiation utilization and the capacity for carbon dioxide fixation. Consequently, miR_(40)8 hyper-accumulating plants exhibited higher rate of vegetative growth. An enlargement of seed size was also observed in all three species overproducing miR_(40)8. Moreover, we conducted a 2-year-two-location field trial and observed miR_(40)8 overexpression in rice significantly increased yield, which was primarily attributed to an elevation in grain weight. 6Mesoproterozoic to Paleozoic Nd isotope stratigraphy of the South China continental nucleus and its geological significance显示文摘The Yangtze continental nucleus in South China is situated in the Huangling-Shennongjia area in western Hubei Province.It comprises the early Precambrian crystalline basement and generally successive Proterozoic to Phanerozoic sedimentary covers.This paper reports a comprehensive Nd isotope study of fine-grained sedimentary rocks from the regional Mesoproterozoic to early Paleozoic strata.The Nd model ages display a V-shaped variation from ~2.5-2.8 Ga during the late Mesoproterozoic through ~1.5-1.7 Ga during the Neoproterozoic Nanhua Period to ~1.8-2.1 Ga during the Paleozoic Ordovician,with corresponding Nd (t) ranges of 11 to 14,1.1 to 5.3,and 7.9 to 9.9,respectively.This evolutionary trend broadly resembles those documented in the sedimentary strata along the southeastern margin of the Yangtze Craton and within the Jiangnan orogenic belt,indicating that the whole South China block underwent a mantle-input related tectono-magmatic event at ~0.8 Ga or earlier.However,the Huangling-Shennongjia area is discriminated from the other two regions by highly variable model ages (~1.5-2.7 Ga) and Nd (t) values (1.38-12.0) of the early Mesoproterozoic strata.Combined with the Archean model ages of the late Mesoproterozoic strata,it is suggested that the Mesoproterozoic sedimentary provenance of the Yangtze continental nucleus was distinct from that of the southeastern Yangtze Craton,likely indicative of an intervening aulacogen (or rift zone) or oceanic basin.In addition,the high comparability in Neoproterozoic to Paleozoic Nd isotope stratigraphy between the Yangtze Craton and the Jiangnan orogenic belt infers that the whole South China block had shared the same sedimentary basin and provenance since the Yangtze-Cathaysia welding at ~0.9 Ga.Thus,it is proposed that the Yangtze Craton had comprised a collage of micro-continents during the pre-Neoproterozoic until the Rodinia assemblage when the primitive South China block was formed.BAI Xiao LING WenLi DUAN RuiChun QIU XiaoFei LIU ChengXin KUANG Hua GAO YongJuan ZHOU Lian CHEN ZiWan LU Shah-Song 2011Science China Earth Sciences2011,54,11:8

10A detachable coating of cholesterol-anchored PEG improves tumor targeting of cell-penetrating peptide-modified liposomes显示文摘Cell-penetrating peptides(CPPs)have been widely used to enhance the membrane transloca-tion of various carriers for many years,but the non-specificity of CPPs seriously limits their utility in vivo.In this study,cholesterol-anchored,reduction-sensitive PEG(first synthesized by our laboratory)was applied to develop a co-modified liposome with improved tumor targeting.Following optimization of the formulation,the in vitro and in vivo properties of the co-modified liposome were evaluated.The co-modified liposome had a much lower cellular uptake and tumor spheroid uptake,but a much higher tumor accumulation compared to CPP-modified liposome,indicating the non-specific penetration of CPPs could be attenuated by the outer PEG coating.With the addition of exogenous reducing agent,both the in vitro and in vivo cellular uptake was markedly increased,demonstrating that the reduction-sensitive PEG coating achieved a controllable detachment from the surface of liposomes and did not affect the penetrating abilities of CPPs.The present results demonstrate that the combination of cholestervsitive PEG and CPPs is an ideal alternative for the application of CPP-modified carriers in vivo.Jie Tang Li Zhang Han Fu Qifang Kuang Huile Gao Zhirong Zhang Qin Hen 2014Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2014,4,1:3

12Enhancing oxygen evolution reaction by cationic surfactants显示文摘Oxygen evolution reaction is critical for water splitting or metal-air batteries,but previous research mainly focuses on electrode material or structure optimization.Herein,we demonstrate that surfactant modification of a NiFe layered double hydroxide (LDH) array electrode,one of the best catalysts for oxygen evolution reaction (OER),could achieve superaerophobic surface with balanced surface charges,affording fast mass transfer,quick gas release,and boosted OER performance.The assembled surfactants on the electrode surface are responsible for lowering the bubble adhesive force (~ 1.03 μN) and corresponding fast release of small bubbles generated during OER.In addition,the bipolar nature of the hexadecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) molecule lead to bilayer assembly of the surfactants with the polar ends facing the electrode surface and the electrolyte,resulting in neutralized charges on the electrode surface.As a result,OH-transfer was facilitated and OER performance was enhanced.With the modified superaerophobic surface and balanced surface charge,NiFe LDHs-CTAB nanostructured electrode showed ultrahigh current density increase (9.39 mA(mV·cm^2)),2.3 times higher than that for conventional NiFe LDH nanoarray electrode),dramatically fast gas release,and excellent durability.The introduction of surfactants to construct under-water superaerophobic electrode with in-time repelling ability to the as-formed gas bubbles may open up a new pathway for designing efficient electrodes for gas evolution systems with potentially practical application in the near future.Qixian Xie Daojin Zhou Pengsong Li Zhao Cai Tianhui Xie Tengfei Gao Ruida Chen Yun Kuang Xiaoming Sun 2019Nano Research2019,12,9:3
13Complications and management of penile augmentation with hyaluronic acid injection显示文摘Hyaluronic acid injection is becoming a popular way for penile augmentation.However,only few studies and follow-ups have investigated the various complications of hyaluronic acid injection and their corresponding management.In this study,a total of 230 patients who had penile augmentation with hyaluronic acid injection from January 2018 to December 2019 were examined on follow-up for penile girth,complications,and their corresponding management.At 1-month,3-month,and 6-month postoperative follow-ups,the penile circumference had increased by 2.66±1.24 cm,2.28±1.02 cm,and 1.80±0.83 cm,respectively.During the entire 6-month follow-up,4.3%had complications such as subcutaneous bleeding,subcutaneous nodules,and infection.There were no systemic or local allergic reactions among all the patients.All complications were treated accordingly,and no further deterioration or severe sequelae were observed.Although complications of hyaluronic acid injections are mild and rare,these may affect the patient's satisfaction postoperatively.Preoperative redundant prepuce may increase the incidence of penile edema or postoperative gel migration.Standardization of the surgery protocol and elucidation of the effects of other injection parameters are still lacking.Nevertheless,it still highlights the importance of preoperative preparation and surgical technique.Yuan Quan Zi-Rui Gao Xiang Dai Ling Kuang Min Zhang Qing Li Tao Xu Xiao-Wei Zhang 2021Asian Journal of Andrology2021,23,4:3
14Late Cretaceous Transpressional Fault System: A Case Study of the Yishu Fault Belt, Shandong Province, Eastern China显示文摘On the basis of field observations of the structures of three profiles from the Linshu region, deformation characteristics and the tectonic background of the Yishu fault belt in the Late Cretaceous–Early Cenozoic have been discussed in detail.Three structural profiles, whose deformations consist mainly of earlier transpressional faults and later normal faults, were developed for the Mengtuan Formation of the Lower Cretaceous Dasheng Group.Typical positive flower structures, duplex structures, and break-through faults were found in these profiles.On the basis of analyses of the structural deformation and previous geochronological studies, it was concluded that the earlier transpressional faults of the profiles were triggered by the sinistral transpression of the Yishu fault belt in the Late Cretaceous–Early Paleogene, and that the later normal faults, formed during the Late Paleogene–Neogene extension, truncated the earlier transpressional faults.With consideration of the tectonic evolution of the Tan-Lu fault belt and the different drift directions of the Pacific plate since the Cretaceous, we suggest that the major tectonic events of the Late Cretaceous–Neogene in eastern China were mainly controlled by the subduction of the Pacific plate.LI Chunlin WANG Zongxiu WU Qingzi LIU Yongqing GAO Wanli TAN Yuanlong KUANG Hongwei LI Huijun 2015Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2015,89,5:3
15Copper nanowire with enriched high‐index facets for highly selective CO_(2) reduction显示文摘Electroreduction of carbon dioxide into fuels and feedstocks with renewable energy is an attractive route to mitigate carbon emission and solve energy crisis.However,how to improve the selectivity of high‐value multicarbon products is still challenging.Here,we demonstrate that the high‐index crystalline surface of copper could be designed and obtained through a simple square‐wave potential treatment on copper nanowires,which is beneficial to improve the selectivity of multi‐carbon products,especially the reaction route towards ethylene.The Faradaic efficiency of C_(2+)products can reach nearly 60%,and hydrogen can be suppressed to below 20%.Density functional theory(DFT)calculations reveal that(311)high‐index facet can activate CO_(2) effectively and promote adsorption of the*COCOH intermediate on copper for ethylene formation,therefore improves the selectivity of ethylene and inhibits the competing hydrogen evolution reaction.This method can be extended to the design of other catalytic systems and has inspirations for other electrochemical catalytic reactions.Lu Han Benqiang Tian Xiangxiang Gao Yang Zhong Shengnan Wang Shuchang Song Zhili Wang Ying Zhang Yun Kuang Xiaoming Sun 2022SmartMat2022,3,1:2
16Controlling mine pressure by subjecting high-level hard rock strata to ground fracturing显示文摘When mining extra-thick coal seams,the main cause of strong ground pressure are the high-level thick and hard strata,but as yet there is no active and effective control technology.This paper proposes the method of subjecting hard roofs to ground fracturing,and physical simulation is used to study the control effect of ground fracturing on the strata structure and energy release.The results show that ground fracturing changes the structural characteristics of the strata and reduces the energy release intensity and the spatial extent of overburden movement,thereby exerting significant control on the ground pressure.The Datong mining area in China is selected as the engineering background.An engineering test was conducted on site by ground horizontal well fracturing,and a 20-m-thick hard rock layer located 110 m vertically above the coal seam was targeted as the fracturing layer.On-site microseismic monitoring shows that the crack propagation length is up to 216 m and the height is up to 50 m.On-site mine pressure monitoring shows that(1)the roadway deformation is reduced to 100 mm,(2)the periodic weighting characteristics of the hydraulic supports are not obvious,and(3)the ground pressure in the working face is controlled significantly,thereby showing that the ground fracturing is successful.Ground fracturing changed the breaking characteristics of the high-level hard strata,thereby helping to ameliorate the stress concentration in the stope and providing an effective control approach for hard rock.Rui Gao Tiejun Kuang Yanqun Zhang Wenyang Zhang Chunyang Quan 2021International Journal of Coal Science & Technology2021,8,6:2
