5Vacancy formation enthalpies of high-entropy FeCoCrNi alloy via first-principles calculations and possible implications to its superior radiation tolerance显示文摘Because atoms in high-entropy alloys(HEAs) coordinate in very different and distorted local environments in the lattice sites, even for the same type of constituent, their point defects could highly vary.Therefore, theoretical determination of the thermodynamic quantities(i.e., defect formation enthalpies)of various point defects is rather challenging because each corresponding thermodynamic quantity of all involve constituents is not unique. The knowledge of these thermodynamic quantities is prerequisite for designing novel HEAs and understanding the mechanical and physical behaviors of HEAs. However,to date there has not been a good method to theoretically derive the defect formation enthalpies of HEAs. Here, using first-principles calculations within the density functional theory(DFT) in combination of special quasi-random structure models(SQSs), we have developed a general method to derive corresponding formation enthalpies of point defects in HEAs, using vacancy formation enthalpies of a four-component equiatomic fcc-type FeCoCrNi HEA as prototypical and benchmark examples. In difference from traditional ordered alloys, the vacancy formation enthalpies of FeCoCrNi HEA vary in a highly wide range from 0.72 to 2.89 eV for Fe, 0.88–2.90 eV for Co, 0.78–3.09 eV for Cr, and 0.91–2.95 eV for Ni due to high-level site-to-site lattice distortions and compositional complexities. On average, the vacancy formation enthalpies of 1.58 eV for Fe, 1.61 eV for Cr, 1.70 eV for Co and 1.89 eV for Ni are all larger than that(1.41 eV) of pure fcc nickel. This fact implies that the vacancies are much more difficult to be created than in nickel, indicating a reasonable agreement with the recent experimental observation that FeCoCrNi exhibits two orders of amplitudes enhancement of radiation tolerance with the suppression of void formation at elevated temperatures than in pure nickel.Weiliang Chen Xueyong Ding Yuchao Feng Xiongjun Liu Kui Liu Z.P. 9Asymmetric distribution of cytokinins determines root hydrotropism in Arabidopsis thaliana显示文摘The phenomenon of plant root tips sensing moisture gradient in soil and growing towards higher water potential is designated as root hydrotropism,which is critical for plants to survive when water is a limited factor.Molecular mechanisms regulating such a fundamental process,however,are largely unknown.Here we report our identification that cytokinins are key signaling molecules directing root growth orientation in a hydrostimulation(moisture gradient)condition.Lower water potential side of the root tip shows more cytokinin response relative to the higher water potential side.Consequently,two cytokinin downstream type-A response regulators,ARR16 and ARR17,were found to be up-regulated at the lower water potential side,causing increased cell division in the meristem zone,which allows the root to bend towards higher water potential side.Genetic analyses indicated that various cytokinin biosynthesis and signaling mutants,including the arr16 arr17 double mutant,are significantly less responsive to hydrostimulation.Consistently,treatments with chemical inhibitors interfering with either cytokinin biosynthesis or cell division completely abolished root hydrotropic response.Asymmetrically induced expression of ARR16 or ARR17 effectively led to root bending in both wild-type and miz1,a previously known hydrotropism-defective mutant.These data demonstrate that asymmetric cytokinin distribution is a primary determinant governing root hydrotropism.Jinke Chang Xiaopeng Li Weihao Fu Jiawen Wang Yueyuan Yong Hongyong Shi Zhaojun Ding Hong Kui Xiaoping Gou Kai He Jia Li 2019Cell Research2019,29,12:4

12Skull metastasis revealing a papillary thyroid carcinoma显示文摘Although thyroid carcinoma is a relatively common form of malignancy,metastatic spread to the skull is rare.Here,we report a case of papillary thyroid carcinoma with frontal and parietal metastasis.A61-year-old Chinese woman presented with a one year history of a growing mass on the center of the frontal and parietal bone,initially thought to be meningioma.Biopsy of the skull base mass after intracalvarium excision,indicated a tumor of thyroid origin.One month later the patient underwent a total thyroidectomy.Pathological examination confirmed a diagnosis of papillary thyroid carcinoma with frontal and parietal bone metastasis.Based on this experience,the key to successful management of the skull metastasis of thyroid carcinoma is prompt diagnosis and appropriate treatment.Skull metastasis should be considered at the outset of the clinical course of papillary thyroid cancer.To facilitate this,patients should be meticulously investigated by a multidisciplinary team to improve quality of life.Xi Li Ge Zhao Yong Zhang Kui Ding Hui Cao Dehua Yang Jian Zhang Zhiquan Duan Shijie Xin 2013Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2013,25,5:2

14Low deceleration capacity is associated with higher stroke risk in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation显示文摘Background: Deceleration capacity (DC) is a non-invasive marker for cardiac autonomic dysfunction;however, few studies have shown that the influence factors of cardiac autonomic dysfunction and the correlations between DC and stroke risk in paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AF). We aimed to explore the influencing factors of abnormal DC and the relationships between DC and stroke risk in patients with paroxysmal AF. Methods: The study included hospitalized paroxysmal AF patients with DC measurements derived from 24-h Holter electrocardiography recordings taken between August 2015 and June 2016. Multivariable regression analysis was performed to evaluate the associations between correlated variables and abnormal DC values. The relationship between DC and ischemic stroke risk scores in patients with paroxysmal AF was analyzed. Results: We studied 259 hospitalized patients with paroxysmal AF (143 [55.2%] male, mean age 66.4 ± 12.0 years);38 patients of them showed abnormal DC values. In the univariate analysis, age, hypertension, heart failure, and previous stroke/transient ischemic attack (TIA) were significantly associated with abnormal DC values. Among these factors, a history of previous stroke/TIA (odds ratio = 2.861, 95% confidence interval: 1.356–6.039) were independently associated with abnormal DC values in patients with paroxysmal AF. The abnormal DC group showed a higher stroke risk with the score of congestive heart failure, hypertension, age >75 years, diabetes mellitus, previous stroke and TIA (CHADS2)(2.25 ± 1.48 vs. 1.40 ± 1.34, t =-4.907, P = 0.001) and CHA2DS2-vascular disease, age 65–74 years and female category (VASc)(3.76 ± 1.95 vs. 2.71 ± 1.87, t =-4.847, P = 0.001) scores. Correlation analysis showed that DC was negatively correlated with CHADS2 scores (r =-0.290, P < 0.001) and CHA2DS2-VASc scores (r =-0.263, P > 0.001). Conclusions: Lower DC is closely associated with previous stroke/TIA, and is also correlated negatively with higher stroke risk scores in patients with paroxysmal AF. 15Effects of Solution Treatment on the Microstructure,Tensile Properties,and Impact Toughness of an Al–5.0Mg–3.0Zn–1.0Cu Cast Alloy显示文摘This study investigates the eff ect of solution treatment(at 470°C for 0–48 h)on the microstructural evolution,tensile properties,and impact properties of an Al–5.0Mg–3.0Zn–1.0Cu(wt%)alloy prepared by permanent gravity casting.The results show that the as-cast microstructure consists ofα-Al dendrites and a network-like pattern of T-Mg32(AlZnCu)49 phases.Most of the T-phases were dissolved within 24 h at 470℃;and a further prolonging of solution time resulted in a rapid growth ofα-Al grains.No transformation from the T-phase to the S-Al2CuMg phase was discovered in this alloy.Both the tensile properties and impact toughness increased quickly,reached a maximum peak value,and decreased gradually as the solution treatment proceeded.The impact toughness is more closely related to the elongation,and the relationship between impact toughness and elongation appears to obey an equation:IT=8.43 EL-3.46.After optimal solution treatment at 470℃for 24 h,this alloy exhibits excellent mechanical properties with the ultimate tensile strength,yield strength,elongation and impact toughness being 431.6 MPa,270.1 MPa,19.4%and 154.7 kJ/m^(2),which are comparable to that of a wrought Al–6.0 Mg–0.7 Mn alloy(5E06,a 5 xxx aluminum alloy).Due to its excellent comprehensive combination of mechanical properties,this cast alloy has high potential for use in components which require medium strength,high ductility and high toughness.Hua-Ping Tang Qu-Dong Wang Colin Luo Chuan Lei Tian-Wen Liu Zhong-Yang Li Kui Wang Hai-Yan Jiang Wen-Jiang Ding 2021Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)2021,34,1:2

17Stress rupture properties and deformation mechanisms of K4750 alloy at the range of 650℃ to 800℃显示文摘The stress rupture properties and deform ation mechanism s of K4750 alloy at 650 ℃, 700 ℃, 750 ℃ and 800 ℃ were investigated. As the decrease of tem perature and stress, the stress rupture life gradually increased. A Larson-Miller Parameter (LMP) method was used for analyzing the stress rupture life under different conditions. The linear fitting formula between stress (σ) and LMP was derived as σ= 3166.455-119.969 ×LMP and the fitting coefficient w as 0.98. After testing, the dislocation configurations of all stress rupture samples w ere investigated by transm ission electron microscopy (TEM). The tem perature and stress had a significant impact on the deform ation m echanism, thereby affected the stress rupture life of K4750 alloy. As the increasing stress at a given tem perature, the deform ation m echanism gradually transform ed from Orowan looping to stacking fault shearing. Based on experim ental results, the threshold stress at 650 ℃, 700 ℃, 750 ℃ and 800 ℃ for the transition of deformation mechanism was estimated to be about 650 MPa, 530 MPa, 430 MPa and 350 MPa, respectively. Below the threshold stress,γ phase effectively hindered dislocation motion by Orowan looping mechanism, K4750 alloy had along stress rupture life. Slightly above the threshold stress, Orowan looping combining stacking fault shearing was the dom inant mechanism ,the stress rupture life decreased.
