1Virus-induced Phytoene Desaturase(PDS) Gene Silencing Using Tobacco Rattle Virus in Lilium × formolongi显示文摘Gene function analysis is challenging for Lilium due to the lack of an efficient method for stable genetic transformation. Virus-induced gene silencing(VIGS) is an attractive tool for determining gene function in plants. This study reported that Tobacco rattle virus(TRV)-based VIGS of a PHYTOENE DESATURASE(PDS) ortholog(LhPDS) can be achieved in Lilium × formolongi seedlings, with a survival rate of 92%, using the inoculation method of rubbing plus injection. Compared with untreated and mock-treated seedlings, the photobleached leaf phenotype of silenced plants significantly correlates with down-regulation of endogenous LhPDS(P ≤ 0.05). In addition, the silencing phenomenon can be observed in the growing points of plants, indicating that systemic viral infection was achieved using the protocol. The results indicate that TRV-based VIGS can be used to characterize gene function in Lilium × formolongi. 3Purification of starch and phosphorus wastewater using core-shell magnetic seeds prepared by sulfated roasting显示文摘Core-shell magnetic seeds with certain adsorption capacity that were prepared by sulfated roasting, served as the core of a magnetic separation technology for purification of starch wastewater. XRD and SEM results indicate that magnetite's surface transformed to be porous α-Fe_2O_3 structure. Compared with magnetite particles, the specific surface area was significantly improved to be 8.361 from 2.591 m^2/g, with little decrease in specific susceptibility. Zeta potential, FT-IR and XPS experiments indicate that both phosphate and starch adsorbed on the surface of the core-shell magnetic seeds by chemical adsorption, which fits well with the Langmuir adsorption model. 6Tribological properties of M0S_(2) coating for ultra-long wear-life and low coefficient of friction combined with additive g-C3N4 in air显示文摘The solid lubricant M0S_(2) demonstrates excellent lubricating properties,but it spontaneously oxidizes and absorbs moisture in air,and thus results in poor wear resistance and short wear-life.In this study,the additive g-C_(3)N_(4)(CN)was successfully combined with M0S_(2) via hydrothermal synthesis as a solid lubricant for the first time.Meanwhile,a low friction coefficient(COF,y=0.031)and ultra-long wear-life of CN/M0S_(2) compared to pure M0S_(2) in air were demonstrated.The functional groups and good crystallinity of the lubricant material were characterized via Fourier transform infrared(FTIR)spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction(XRD).The formed valence states in CN/M0S_(2) were analyzed via X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS).The characterized results of the scanning electron microscopy(SEM)and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy(HRTEM)show the morphology and interior crystal phase structure of CN/M0S_(2).From the cross-section analysis,the presence of iron oxide nanoparticles lubricating film is synergistic with CN/M0S_(2) film during the friction process,resulting in its ultra-long wear-life.In particular,the friction mechanism of interlayer sliding friction combined with energy storage friction was analyzed and proposed.Yupeng ZHANG Panpan LI Li JI Xiaohong LIU Hongqi WAN Lei CHEN Hongxuan LI Zhiiiang JIN 2021Friction2021,9,4:3
7Effects of inherent alkali and alkaline earth metals on nitrogen transformation during steam gasification of Shengli lignite显示文摘This work evaluated the effects of inherent alkali and alkaline earth metals on nitrogen transformation during steam gasification of Shengli lignite at the temperature of 873-1173 K in a fluidized-bed/fixed-bed quartz reactor. The results indicated that the alkali metal Na and alkaline earth metals Ca, Mg in coal have different effects on inherent nitrogen transformation to NH3, HCN and char-N during the lignite steam gasification. Specifically during the steam gasification of Shengli lignite, Na and Ca, Mg not only catalyze the inherent nitrogen conversions to NH3, but also promote the secondary reactions of the nascent char-N as well as the generation of NH3 from the generated HCN, meanwhile they also inhibited the inherent nitrogen conversion to HCN and char-N. 9Seismic fragility analysis of clay-pile-pier systems considering the optimization of ground motion intensity measures显示文摘The performance of clay-pile-pier system under earthquake shaking was comprehensively examined via three-dimensional finite element analyses,in which the complex stress-strain relationships of a clay and piled pier system were depicted by a hyperbolic-hysteretic and an equivalent elastoplastic model,respectively.One hundred twenty ground motions with varying peak accelerations were considered,along with the variations in bridge superstructure mass and pile flexural rigidity.Comprehensive comparison studies suggested that peak pile-cap acceleration and peak pile-cap velocity are the optimal ground motion intensity measures for seismic responses of the pier and the pile,respectively.Furthermore,based on two optimal ground motion intensity measures and using curvature ductility to quantify different damage states,seismic fragility analyses were performed.The pier generally had no evident damage except when the bridge girder mass was equal to 960 t,which seemed to be comparatively insensitive to the varying pile flexural rigidity.In comparison,the pile was found to be more vulnerable to seismic damage and its failure probabilities tended to clearly reduce with the increment of pile flexural rigidity,while the influence of the bridge girder mass was relatively minor.Zhang Panpan Zhang Lei Zhang Zhen 2023Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Vibration2023,22,4:1

12Ultrasonic Characteristics and Severity Assessment of Lung Ultrasound in COVID-19 Pneumonia:A Retrospective,Observational Study显示文摘The clinical application of lung ultrasound(LS)in the assessment of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pneumonia severity remains limited,Herein,we investigated the role of LUS imaging in CoVID-19pneumonia patients and the relationship between LUS findings and disease severity.This was a retro-spective,observational study at Tongji Hospital,on 48 recruited patients with COVID-19 pneu-monia,including 32 non-critically ill patients and 16critically ill patients.LUS was performed and the respiratory rate oxygenation(ROX)index,disease severity,and confusion,blood urea nitrogen,respira-tory rate,blood pressure,and age(CURB-65)score were recorded on days 0-7,8-14,and 15-21 after symptomonset.Lung images were divided into 12 regions,and the luS score(0-36 points)was calcu-lated.hestcomputed tomography(CT)scores(0-20 points)were also recorded on days O-7.Coelations between the LUS score,ROX index,and CURB-65 scores were examined.LUS detected COVID-19 pneumonia in 38patients.LUS signs included B lines(34/38,89.5%),consolidations(6/38,15.8%),and pleural effusions(2/38,5.3%).Most cases showed more than one lesion(32/38,84.2%)and involved both lungs(28/38,73.7%).Compared with non-critically ill patients,the LUS scores of critically ill patients were higher(12(10-18)vs 2(0-5),p<0.001).The LUS score showed significant negative cor-relations with the ROX indexon days O-7(r=-0.85,p<0.001),days 8-14(r=-0.71,p<0.001),and days 15-21(r=-0.76,p<0.001)after symptom onset.However,the LUS score was positively correlated with the CT score(r=0.82,p<0.001).The number of patients with LUS-detected lesions decreased from 27 cases(81.8%)to 20 cases(46.5%),and the lus scores significantly decreased from 4(2-10)to 0(0-5),(p<0.001) from days O-7 to 17-21.We conclude that LUS can detect lunglesions in COVID-19 pneumo-nia patients in a portable,real-time,and safe manner.Thus,LUS is helpful in assessing COVID-19 pneu-monia severity in critically ill patients.Fengxue Zhu Xiujuan Zhao Tianbing Wang Zhenzhou Wang Fuzheng Guo Haiyan Xue Panpan Chang Hansheng Liang Wentao Ni Yaxin Wang Lei Chen Baoguo Jiang 2021Engineering2021,7,3:1

15Effect of the addition of TEOS on the SiC fibers fabricated by electrospinning显示文摘Polycarbosilane(PCS)has been widely used to fabricate silicon carbide(SiC)fibers via pyrolysis.In this paper,for improving the morphology of SiC fibers,tetraethyl orthosilicate(TEOS,m=1 g,3 g and 5 g,respectively)was added into the PCS precursor solution(containing 1.5 g PCS).The continuous fibers have been prepared by electrospinning,and then the SiC fibers were synthesized by calcination at 1300℃,1400℃and 1600℃for 4 h respectively with a heating rate of 10℃/min in flowing nitrogen(N_(2)).The morphologies of the fibers were investigated by the scanning electron microscope(SEM)and it could be seen that the crystallinity of the SiC fibers was lower,the length of the SiC fibers was increased,and the diameter was uniform with the increase of the addition amount of TEOS.Jiayan LI Panpan CAO Yi TAN Lei ZHANG 2013Journal of Advanced Ceramics2013,2,3:1

17Unique fluorophilic pores engineering within porous aromatic frameworks for trace perfluorooctanoic acid removal显示文摘Perfluorooctanoic acid(PFOA),a representative of per/polyfluorinated alkyl substances,has become a persistent water pollutant of widespread concern due to its biological toxicity and refractory property.In this work,we design and synthesize two porous aromatic frameworks(PAF)of PAF-CF3 and PAF-C2F5 using fluorine-containing alkyl based monomers in tetrahedral geometry.Both PAFs exhibit nanosized pores(~1.0 nm)of high surface areas(over 800 m2 g-1)and good fluorophilicity.Remarkable adsorption capacity(>740 mg g-1)and superior efficiency(>24 g mg-1 h-1)are achieved toward the removal of PFOA with 1μg L-1 concentration owing to unique C-F…F-C interactions.In particular,PAF-CF3 and PAF-C2F5 are able to reduce the PFOA concentration in water to 37.9 ng L-1 and 43.3 ng L-1,below EPA regulations(70 ng L-1).The reusability and high efficiency give both PAFs a great potential for sewage treatment.Chi Zhang Junchao Dong Panpan Zhang Lei Sun Liu Yang Wenjian Wang Xiaoqin Zou Yunning Chen Qingkun Shang Danyang Feng Guangshan Zhu 2023National Science Review2023,10,10:0
18Predicting triaxial compressive strength of high-temperature treated rock using machine learning techniques显示文摘The accurate prediction of the strength of rocks after high-temperature treatment is important for the safety maintenance of rock in deep underground engineering.Five machine learning(ML)techniques were adopted in this study,i.e.back propagation neural network(BPNN),AdaBoost-based classification and regression tree(AdaBoost-CART),support vector machine(SVM),K-nearest neighbor(KNN),and radial basis function neural network(RBFNN).A total of 351 data points with seven input parameters(i.e.diameter and height of specimen,density,temperature,confining pressure,crack damage stress and elastic modulus)and one output parameter(triaxial compressive strength)were utilized.The root mean square error(RMSE),mean absolute error(MAE)and correlation coefficient(R)were used to evaluate the prediction performance of the five ML models.The results demonstrated that the BPNN shows a better prediction performance than the other models with RMSE,MAE and R values on the testing dataset of 15.4 MPa,11.03 MPa and 0.9921,respectively.The results indicated that the ML techniques are effective for accurately predicting the triaxial compressive strength of rocks after different high-temperature treatments.Xunjian Hu Junjie Shentu Ni Xie Yujie Huang Gang Lei Haibo Hu Panpan Guo Xiaonan Gong 2023Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2023,15,8:0
